Cover of Night is filled with action and romance. I would recommend this book.
While I am a huge fan of every other series that I read written by Ms. Griffin, I find myself having a real problem getting into this series. I’m not sure if it is the short lengths of the stories, which gives so little time for the reader to become passionate about the characters and their lives, or the fact that the characters fall in love in so short a time that boggles the mind, but these books just don’t seem to resonate with me. The story begins with quick action as Journalist Karly, who is on a working vacation in Thailand finds herself in the middle of a hostile terrorist situation with seemingly so help in sight until she is accosted in the dark by a huge and sexy man who turns out to be a member of the Alpha Crew SEAL team sent in to rescue the hostages. She is forced to work with them when the situation gets quickly out of hand, but her brains and sass make her the perfect partner for Ethan Dunn the leader of the team on the island with her. Ethan has been sent in to recon the situation, not thinking he would be forced to stage and small-team recuse, but he and his men are made to adapt. However he never saw Karly coming and she bowls him over with her sexiness and he finds himself a bit distracted and instantly attracted to the pretty reporter. Once the hostages and rescued, they are briefly reunited and their connection is deepened as Ethan tries to help Karly deal with all she saw and did on the Island, leading them to a passionate affair, one that Karly believes will be a single intense, though long thought of night, until Ethan tracks her down at her home. Now she has to decide if she wants something more with the sexy SEAL who rocked her world, or if her personal hang-ups are too much to overcome her fears of a relationship with Ethan. There was so much going on in this relatively short novel, but I did like both Karly and Ethan’s characters and wished they had the full time they deserved to grow both alone and together. Ethan was simply a badass, but he was also sweet, funny, and interesting. Karly, once she let herself go, was sassy, charming, and intelligent in ways that made her the perfect match for Ethan. The passion between them was undeniable at every moment and I have no doubt that they were keep their love alive a long time to come. I will continue with the series, in hopes the length grows and the stories become more in line with Laura’s normal level, but on it’s on this story was an enjoyable brief read and good addition to the series.
Journalist Karly Bonham is on her first overseas mission, covering the new United States ambassador to Thailand, when she is taken hostage by terrorists, with only her wits and courage to keep her alive--until help arrives in the form of Navy SEAL Ethan Dunn. As part of an elite SEAL team called Alpha Crew, Ethan has been on countless harrowing missions, but he knows this one is different the instant he meets Karly—the sexy young reporter who somehow managed to escape the terrorists’ clutches. Ethan is impressed by her, especially when he learns she has intel that could be the key to a successful rescue op. Ethan knows working with a civilian raises the stakes on an already dangerous mission. But with the clock ticking down, he enlists Karly’s help to thwart a vicious plot and bring a terrorist mastermind to justice.
This was a quick and high action read. The author does a great job of writing a full story in just a novella. I really liked both characters and can’t wait to read more stories of the Alpha Crew.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
Karly is on an assignment in Thailand interviewing sexy new ambassador. On her last day of her work, everything goes wrong. She barely makes back to resort after thrown off the boat after an explosion. She needed to contact someone to rescue her and rest of the people in the resort.
When Navy SEAL Ethan was assigned to another rescue, he never thought he would meet someone who was strong, stubborn and fearless. He needed close intel about the layout of the resort and describing each building. They had to move fast or they might not rescue everyone. When she suggests she help while he was rescuing rest of the resort, he reluctanly agrees while rescue mission was success except one terrorist got away.
After Ethan knew where Karly was staying, he offered her a bike riding around the city. And they spent one wonderful night and he was back to another mission.
Now Karly was back in San Diego and back to her routine. When Ethan finds out Karly is in same city as he was, he wanted to see her. But Karly was hesitant to continue seeing Ethan. While he was offering just simple lunch or any time with her, she gives in and sees Ethan.
Their attraction was strong yet his job won’t make it easy on Karly. When Karly finds out she actually saw the most wanted terrorist, she is called back to FBI office. Nothing goes smoothly... Will Ethan be there to rescue her again.
This one was quickly moved and compare to first one. I just wished it will have more story between Ethan and Karly at the end. I guess I will have to wait until the next one.
I would like to give 3 ⭐️ 1/2

Cover by Night is a Action pack with romance just the perfect book.
Though I expected the third book of the Alpha Crew series to be about Jake and Alexa, the author surprised us by presenting the story of Ethan and Karly. Karly is a journalist currently visiting a resort in Thailand in order to interview the new US ambassador there. She spends her last days in the resort and she tries to relax, do some sightseeing around and enjoy herself. She is on a boat having just finished a call with her editor when all hell breaks, as the resort is attacked by a group of terrorists. In a moment of despair Karly calls back and leaves a desperate message. The Alpha Crew team is summoned to help with the current situation in Thailand and Ethan is one of the 4 members participating in the mission to save hostages and stop the terrorists.
When Ethan will find Karly the electricity and the chemistry between them will be intense. The crisis will end and they will meet again in Manila where they will spend the day together visiting around and the night will end up with hot sex. Karly wanted this one night stand and she enjoyed it. Ethan is the guy who does not do relationships, but when they will return to the states they will not be able to forget one another. After 5 weeks Karly will be in San Diego and though Ethan will try to reach her, he will keep avoiding him. At some point she will respond and when they will rejoin they will not be able to keep apart. However one of the most wanted terrorists who Karly had the chance to meet in person in Thailand will come looking for her and when he will find her, her safety will be jeopardized. However Ethan will never let anything bad happen to her.
Once again a well delivered fast-paced story with constant interchange between action and sex scenes. A real action story with suspense and twists and turns. I really loved this story, too and I’m looking forward reading the next story of this series. Hope it is about Jake and Alexa.
Laura Griffin once again proves she can do no wrong when it comes to action packed romantic suspense. This is a great addition to the Alpha Crew series and a must read for readers of this genre.
Unfortunately I DNF it , so with that said I would like to think NetGalley for at least giving me a chance at reading it.
My only complaint about this third installment in Laura Griffin's Alpha Crew is that it ended too soon. The action sequence in the first part of the story was intense and reminiscent of the best of Brockmann's Troubleshooters but Griffin makes her team all her own. The romance is hot and happens over a short period of time but given how they met (during a terrorist attack) it felt ok to me. The glimpse into Karl's work as a journalist was interesting and I liked that they both lived in the same place so that their relationship could have time to develop further in a realistic way. Looking forward to the next installment.
Karly’s life changed in a single horrifying moment. Witnessing a terrorist attack she had a short moment of time where she was able to reach out for help. Ethan’s SEAL team was sent to rescue Karly and all the other victims. She has difficulty coping with what happened and shuts everyone except Ethan out. Will he help her leave this horrifying experience in the past and look forward to the future. Their chemistry was felt from the moment they saw each other!
I really like this series.
The length is just right and Griffin manages to pack a lot in a shorter book. Plus, like the previous books, we get a real meaty action story at the beginning of the book and that connection crosses over to their everyday lives in some way. Being that this is a novella, it's not long on character development but for me, I don't mind so much as these are packed with lots of action and romance.

Journalist Karly Bonham is on her first overseas mission covering the United States ambassador and his daughter in Thailand, when they are taken hostage by terrorists but Karly manages to evade capture and is on the island alone until help arrives in the form of four Navy SEALS, one of whom is Ethan Dunn.
Ethan is part of an elite SEAL team, called Alpha Crew, and he relies on his three team members but knows this one is different when he meets Karly. Ethan is impressed by her courage and willingness to help and even listens when she passes on valuable intel on what could be the key to the rescue being successful. Ethan knows that working with Karly will raise the stakes, but the clock is ticking and they're trying to thwart a terrorist plot and bring a mastermind to justice.
This was a edge of your seat, I want to know what happens next short story. I wish we could have gotten more time with these characters and really see their relationship form and get to know them. It seemed like their relationship was rushed but the action in a Laura Griffin book is always thrilling.
Fast paced read that finishes too quickly. I ended the story and wanted more. Loved the characters and seeing what happened. Could have delved a little deeper into the characters but for what we have I still think it is a great book.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.
Genre: Romantic Suspense
This is book three in Laura Griffin’s Alpha Crew Series. The first two books in the series, At the Edge and Edge of Surrender are tied together. Although all the stories involve the same crew, the reader will not have to read the first two to enjoy this one. But you should. Because they are great!
Ethan Dunn is a navy SEAL, part of a super elite, super secret team. The crew is sent to Thailand to rescue the new American ambassador and his daughter who have been taken hostage by terrorists.
Karly Bonham is a journalist on her first assignment overseas. Covering celebrities for her magazine Pacifica, she was thrilled to cover one of the most eligible bachelors in southern California, the new ambassador. After spending most of her time writing, she decided to spend a few hours snorkeling on her last day in Thailand. That quickly turned into a nightmare as terrorists attacked the boat on shore, killing everyone on board. Terrified, Karly made her way into the jungle to hide only to be found by Ethan and the rest of his Alpha Crew team. Knowing details they didn’t have, she became an asset to the team and an attraction to Ethan that he could not forget.
This story is so typical of Laura’s books, which is why she is always a “must read” for me. Chock full of intrigue, action and, of course, the ever-present attraction and anticipation between the two main characters, makes for a book you can’t put down.
The story is fast paced. The only problem I had with the story was that it wasn't long enough. I wanted to story to continue.. See the characters move in together.
Ethan and Karly have another rather explosive start.
Karly is used to being around pretty people in her career as a journalist but when an assignment following a new diplomat around the Philippines ends in bloodshed, she manages to evade the rebels and send a short SOS.
Ethan and the Crew are dispatched to secure some recon before the main attack force. But as things go from ad to worse, Ethan has to do the unthinkable, let a civilian, a female one at that, aid the mission. Everything in him wants to protect her but her gumption and the sheer desperation of the situation leads to him breaking all his rules!
Once back in the US, he tries to reconnect with Karly but she keeps avoiding him. He finally just shows up at her workplace and they share another passionate encounter. But will he lose her just as he decides to claim her as his? The bad guys aren't yet finished with Karly, Mr X is after her.
Great shorter length story. Believable characters and well crafted plot. The passion is off the scales hot. My only grumble is that I wanted more!!!
Laura Griffin knows how to write action packed romantic suspense books. This one is no exception! Back to the Alpha Crew, we get Ethan's story. He meets Karla rescuing her from terrorists in Thailand. Chemistry and attraction is immediate and they form a connection.
This was a quick read, but thoroughly enjoyable. I hope to read more about these two in future books.
Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.
I usually like Laura Griffin books. That said, this one was rushed, had too many things happening without a clear flow. IMO, it ended too abruptly. I would read her again with the idea that this books was an anomaly.
3.5 Stars
Karly’s career has taken a positive, upward direction when she’s to cover the US Ambassador’s trip to Thailand at a paradise-like resort. It soon turns into a nightmare when terrorists invade and take over. Karly manages to escape their clutches and proves to be a useful source of information and help for the Navy SEAL Team sent in for reconnaissance and rescue. Ethan, one of the SEAL operatives, is struck by Karly’s resourcefulness, and in amongst the chaos of the situation they share an intense, heated attraction. Can their brief interaction lead to more in real-life? Ethan’s never felt the way he feels for anyone but Karly, so he hopes so. Trouble is Karly’s been recently burned by a long-distance relationship, putting her trust in the wrong man, and so she’s very hesitant about getting involved with Ethan. She can tell her feelings could grow to love very easily and doesn’t want her heart shattered.
Their romance was kindled during an intense, dangerous situation where emotions were running high. The little amount of time Ethan and Karly got to know each other may have been condensed, but they got to know each other on a base level, under pressure and were irrevocably connected. I enjoyed their story, both had realistic insecurities, even so, it was sexy as hell. I do wish Karly would’ve done a little less avoiding, wasting precious time that could’ve been spent together, but it was short lived (the story is only 166 pages), so I can’t complain.
Cover of Night was a thrilling, fast-paced, sexy romance that you could easily blow through in one sitting!
This is novella length so things happen quickly. As always Laura packs in lots of action and romance! I was very satisified and look forward to the next book in the series.
