This was an OK read to me. Nothing truly spectacular but enjoyable.
I like the widower aspect and the fact that the MC finds a new love because I love them finding enother HEA, but I often felt like the development lacked a bit and I couldn't get a good connection with this MC.
The writing was enthralling and made it a fast paced read for me and from time to time I have to say that I got really emotional. Despite the fact that I sometimes felt like not everything was as developed as I would've liked, the author definitely managed to MAKE ME FEEL and I really like that in a romance!
Cute NA book with a romantic feel to it. Good to pass the time by though the story seemed slightly repetitive.
I do enjoy a good romance novel. However, that is not what this was. I found the story hard to believe, the characters were uninteresting, and I wasn't sucked in at all. I was easily able to set this book aside and come back to it later, which for me, isn't the making of a good book. I want something that I can't bear to set aside and need to finish reading immediately.
This story was super cute! Even though it was very lengthy i definitely did not feel dragged! If anything, i wanted more and more of it. If was a complete romance novel, loved her writing style. Recommended to anyone who prefers romance novels!
I rather enjoyed this sweet, contemporary romance. The prologue pretty much shredded my heart, and I was sure I was in for an angstfest, but that's not where this story went. We have our hero who suffers a tragedy in which he loses his wife and young son. He is left to raise his daughter. Then we have our heroine, who instead of getting an expected proposal from her boyfriend of many years, finds out he's cheating with her best friend. She ends up becoming the nanny for our now single dad - queue the love story. I'm not sure how the author managed this, but we have instalove coupled with one hell of a slow burn. This wasn't about sex/lust...this was truly a love story, without a whole lot of angst, but rather the realities of two people coming to terms with their own losses, trying to compete with the "perfect" dead wife, dealing with a child who they both want to protect, and battling their own feelings for each other.
Quick fast read with a great feel good story. Really enjoyed the main character. First time reading this author and will definitely have to read others.
This was a book that I wanted to love, and it did like it, a lot, but for me the romance was too quick and too heated too early. It seemed throughout the book that everything was up in the air. The workaholic dad suddenly had time for his daughter and the nanny? And there was instant attraction, but I didn't get that suspense build up, it was almost instantaneous.
Like I said, I wanted to love it and its a great book, just could be so much more...
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
DNF I made it to 70% but it was hard going and I just couldn't continue after that.
It started off promising. The first 6% was a little hard and upsetting for both of the main characters Evi and Nicholas. But they were great opening scenes and I felt that this was going to be a good book and it really wasn't.
When reading, the time line was over the space of quite a few months (from what i gather) but it didn't seem that way. The whole relationship felt forced and rushed.
Evi cries or tears up so much, she was more emotional than the 5 year old.
Nicholas, I can't even think of how to describe him because I just lost interest in him.
I found myself more interested in the dynamic between her ex and the girl Mia especially after reading the excerpt that was included with this.
This is probably the first and the last for me from this author though.
ARC received by Netgalley for a honest and non biased review. Thank you
And Then You was such an outstanding novel! Talk about romance and swoon-worthy moments! Nicholas Wilder is my current book boyfriend as of today and the only thing I disliked was that the story ended 😦
Whether the moments were sad, funny, sexy, or awkward – author Amanda Richardson’s writing ensures that the reader feels every emotion right along with the characters. Although their situations were completely different, I could feel the instant connection and chemistry between Evi and Nick as they tried to rebuild their lives and find happiness. There was such realism in this novel also, not sugar coating Nick and Bria’s experiences and his need to protect his daughter while also trying to find happiness.
Evi was such an honest character that was wonderfully unique from the very beginning. She said stupid things from time to time, made mistakes, got confused about life, and was just a beautifully realistic character. Nick was a bit stuffy in the beginning, but he slowly opened up and lightened up, not being so serious and closed off from the world. The progression of the relationships in the novel was realistic and paced perfectly, but also built incredible tension making me wonder what would happen next.
And Then You has some incredibly sad moments that will have you reaching for your Kleenex but is balanced with humor and romance. Although there are some heavy themes in the story, this novel absolutely left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I had that it’s taken me so long to discover this fabulous author!
*Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review!
Where to start?? When I started reading this story, I was heartbroken. It pulled me in and left me gasping for air. I couldn’t believe this story would begin in the mist of such tragedy. But even though I hurt from the what I was reading, I couldn’t put it down. I had to keep going.
Nick Wilder had gone through the imaginable. He lost his beautiful wife and infant son in a terrible car accident. Now he faces being a single parent to his 4 year old daughter Bria. Nick realizes he needs a nanny to help watch his precious daughter while he’s at work and on business trips. Evianna Halle is in desperate need of a fresh start. After having caught her boyfriend of 7 years in bed with one of her best friends, Evi replies to any and every job posting she can find. She needs a job and a new place to stay. Her hilarious email exchange with Nick Wilder gets her hired for the nanny position he posted about. When she took the job, Evi didn’t count on how amazing little Bria would be or how handsome Nick Wilder would look. She also didn’t count on falling in love.
This book is a really great read. I always forget how much I enjoy a contemporary romance. It makes the story so much better. It really makes it about the characters and how relationships evolve. Although this is my first Amanda Richardson book, it won’t be my last.
Ugh, I had such high hopes for this one. I love the synopsis and all the possibilities my mind started going to after i read the premise of the novel. A young recently graduated college first, gets her heartbroken and right after finds a job as a live in nanny for a recent widower…. hmmm…. all the possibilities!!!
Small spoilers below. Be warned ;)
So of course, I jumped right into it. The beginning was terrific. I was really getting into Evi and her scum of an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her. I was getting overly excited when Evi starts the job as the nanny, to a super HOT, YOUNG, DOCTOR. But that is where it ended for me…
As soon as the father meets Evi there is an instant attraction and flirtation. There is no way in heck a man who just lost his wife and son is flirting with the nanny in not only emails but the first time he meets her. No way! He makes HER breakfast, he goes to her room EVERY NIGHT to say goodnight. The story is told in Evi’s POV 99% of the time but every few chapters a page or two would be in the POV of Nicks, AKA - the hot doctor. and his inner thoughts were always how much he likes Evi, even falling in love with her when she has hardly been working there or even sees him. Just totally unrealistic on so many levels. Even the end- when the daughter finds out about their relationship - which was only one date BTW, Evi tells her she will be a stepmom to her. Like seriously, you have been on one date. Calm down.
This book was such a let down. I would love to read a similar plot told in a better way but this book just was a big flop. Unrealistic and the characters were not written well at all. Evi had a college master’s degree and nick was a doctor yet they both acted like they were 15…. and his dead wife’s mother set Nick up with the nanny? Just, no!!
I give And Then You, 1.5 stars.
This was such a fantastic, heartfelt story that had me captivated from the very beginning until the very end. I absolutely loved it; the characters and the storyline. I think this is one story that readers will read and feel every emotion the author intended on them feeling from the characters. I definitely loved the anticipation within this story. This is an amazing second chance romance read showing that live involved love, death and sometimes a chance at finding happiness again if you are willing to take that leap of faith. The ending was sweet and I look forward to reading more books from this author. This one is a must read for readers who enjoy second chance romances.
Nick and Evi are so adorable together! What do you get when you put two heartbroken souls together along with one adorable little girl? Pure, sweet, swoon worthy romance.
Nick lost his wife and daughter to a car accident. A year later, he's still heartbroken, but he's dealing. He needs a nanny for his daughter, because his mother in law needs to get back to her life. So enters Evi, a 25 year old who's recently had her heart broken by her cheating, really douchebag ex. She's so sweet and loving, and bonds with Bria immediately. The affection between Nick and Evi starts from day one, but it's such a slow burn kind of thing. Perfect for two hurting souls that don't need the rush into sex that sometimes is prevalent in romance these days.
As Nick and Evi come together and help each other heal, I was swooning all over the place and falling in love with not just them, but with Bria, and Cecelia and Frank (Nick's in-laws). There is such a great cast in And Then You, they all contribute in their own, necessary way. I can't imagine this story without each and every one of them.
Thank you, Amanda, for this sweet, heartwarming, swoony romance!
