3.75 stars--NAUTI ANGEL is the fifth instalment in Lora Leigh’s contemporary, adult NAUTI GIRLS, and the ninth instalment in the author’s NAUTI erotic, romance series focusing on the Mackay family of Somerset, Kentucky. The Nauti Girls is a spin-off/companion series to Lora’s NAUTI series focusing on the next generation of the Mackay cousins and siblings. This is mercenaries for hire Angel Calloway, and Reese ‘Duke’ Duquaine Mackay’s story line. Angel Calloway is the missing and presumed dead daughter of Chaya Mackay (Natches’ wife); Duke is Rowdy, Dawg and Natches’ cousin. NAUTI ANGEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but if you are interested in Natches and Chaya’s back story, and the events leading to the loss of Angel ‘aka Beth’, their story begins in Nauti Dreams (book 3 of the NAUTI series.

SOME BACKGROUND: Approximately twenty years earlier government agent, interrogator and profiler Chaya Dane, while on assignment in Iraq, had been captured and tortured by the Iraqi army. Hours later Marine sniper Natches Mackay would rescue the woman with whom he would fall in love but not before discovering that Chaya’s daughter Bethany had been brought to Iraq by her ex in a botched attempt to destroy his wife. An explosion at the local hotel would kill Chaya’s three year old daughter leaving Chaya a shell of her former self.

Told from several third person perspectives including Angel and Duke NAUTI ANGEL follows several paths including the building romance between Angel Calloway and Duke Mackay, and the acrimonious reunion between twenty three year old Angel Calloway aka Beth Dane, and her mother Chaya Mackay-a reunion that finds our heroine struggling to acknowledge the truth about the woman she believes abandoned her own daughter twenty years earlier. Angel, along with her mercenary partners Duke Mackay and his brother Ethan Duquaine, and Angel’s foster brothers Tracker and Chance, have found themselves guardian and protectors of Natches’ daughter Bliss, a young fifteen year old girl who recognizes a kindred spirit in our story line heroine. What ensues is the battle to protect Bliss Mackay from an unknown threat; the growing but tumultuous rekindling relationship between mother and daughter; and the building love between Angel and Duke-a relationship forged through battle and blood.

Angel Calloway aka Bethany Dane knew hardship from an early age: surviving a hotel bombing, gun shots, stabbings and an attempted rape, Angel, along with her foster brothers and the family that found her amongst the bombed out ruin of an Iraqi hotel, would become well paid mercenaries for hire, something Angel has trained for all of her life. Meeting her biological mother, a woman Angel believes to have abandoned her eldest daughter and left her to die, finds our heroine struggling to be accepted by the family her mother has chosen to love.

NAUTI ANGEL reunites a large number of the original NAUTI series characters and couples including Rowdy, Dawg and Natches Mackay, their spouse, wives and growing families, as well as Rowdy’s father Raymond Mackay, and chief of police Alex Jansen.

The world building continues to focus on the Mackay family dynamics; the close knit group of extended cousins and siblings, their connections to Somerset, Kentucky, and the on going struggle to protect one another against outside forces.

NAUTI ANGEL has all the feels of a welcome back hug; the familiarity of the Mackay cousins, their over active sexual desires; and their awe-inspiring and intimidating heroics as they contemplate, calculate and set into action a series of plans designed to take down, and take out the evil penetrating the safe guards of the Mackay family lands. The premise is heart breaking as one woman struggles with issues of abandonment, and the inability to trust beyond her inner circle-falling in love is something new when she loses her heart and her soul to Duke Mackay; the characters are familiar, colorful and charismatic; the romance is passionate, erotic and intense. NAUTI ANGEL is an energetic and touching story of family, friendship and love.

Nauti Angel
Nauti Girls series book #4
Release Date: November 7, 2017
Review copy provided by the publisher

This book was a much welcomed treat when it hit my kindle. I know it takes time to cultivate perfection, but the waiting was killing me. Lora Leigh is like a romance goddess in my eyes. I could hardly wait to go back to Somerset Kentucky and get lost in the Nauti world.

This story kinda goes all the way back to Nauti Dreams, book # 3 in the Nauti Boys series. At least, that's where we first hear about the tragic circumstances that left Angel "dead".

Angel is tough as nails. She kicks butt and ask questions later. Shes had to be hard and strong; shes had to protect herself and others who need her help.

Duke has worked along side Angel for years as Mercenaries. He's been her shadow and her protector; from the bad guys and from herself. He's a good man and alpha as all get out...yum!

After the truth of who Angel really is comes out, the Mackey family rally around her. And she hates it. She's angry and devastated. Chaya Mackey is her mother, and Angel believes the woman deserted her all those years ago as a child. That couldn't be further from the truth. I will admit that I struggled a bit with this being drawn out so much. At times Angel behaved like a petulant child. Her refusal to listen to Chaya, or anyone else who knew the truth, got old after a while.

The bad guys have come back to Somerset. A different set of bad guys, of course. Angel is determined to protect her little sister, Bliss. That's all she cares about. Well, that, and getting nekkid with Duke as often as possible! True to Lora Leigh's style, the chemistry between the hero and heroine was insanely hot, and the love scenes were drool worthy.

One of the things I love best about any of Lora Leigh's books, besides the romance, is the suspense and action. The stories are always so intricately woven and complex. But in a good way! She really drags you into the plot and you get invested in the characters.

There was one moment that really hit my heart hard in this book. The part towards the end with Chaya and Natches. I won't go into detail about it because that would ruin it for you, but just know that I was gutted. If you're a hardcore Nauti fan, like me, you'll know that Natches and Chaya have an epic love story. You'll also know that Natches doesn't cry...until now.

I loved that moment when everything became clear for Angel. The moment when she realized she loved Duke with her whole heart, and that she needed and loved her mother. It was breathtaking.

I really believe to enjoy this book to the fullest you need to have at least read Nauti Dreams. There is so much back story that will help you fully understand all the emotions in this book. I mean, you should just read the whole damn series...from the beginning. You won't be sorry.

This book was amazing! Angel reminded me of Jennifer Garner from Alias. She was totally kick a$$ and I loved reading the scenes where she was in fighter mode. Actually, the whole cast of characters in this series was fascinating to me. Each and every one of them know how of to fight and protect. The bond and the loyalty they showed each other is rare to find. Nauti Angel was emotional and had heart. And let me tell you, this author know hows to bring a couple together. The scenes with Angel and Duke were smokin! I loved it! I want more!

Nauti Angel is simply Lora Leigh at her best. It is chock full of emotion, suspense, panty-melting sex scenes and characters you want to crawl through the pages and meet.

Everyone knew Beth Dane, Chaya's daughter by a previous marriage was killed in a blast at a hotel in Iraq at age three-they even had the DNA results to prove it. So when Angel Calloway claims Chaya's daughter Bliss as her sister, neither Chaya nor Bliss's father believe her. It takes Duke McKay, who has fought by Angel's side at Natchez's behest and his own inclinations to prove the truth.

But Angel has chosen a bad time to finally reveal her real identity-someone has tried to kidnap Bliss. Can Angel learn to forgive the mother she thought threw her away at age 3, establish a relationship with Duke, and keep her family safe?

We view most of the book through Angel's anguished eyes. She loves her sister, but her feelings about Chaya are conflicted and she can't accept her mother's attempts to reclaim the daughter she lost 20 years before. She is also conflicted about Duke, not believing that a happy ending is possible for her.

Duke is simply wonderful, standing by Angel through all the excitement, serving as her rock, her lover, and her confidante.

This was an exciting book, impossible to put down, and one that shows the author's ability to tell a captivating story.

Angel, the lost child of Chaya Mackay, has come back with a vengeance. Some have speculated her parentage, some have proof but nothing will compare to the moment she comes face to face with the mother that has stood against her and her secrets are revealed!

Explosive, heartbreaking and fired by a passion that just can’t be denied, Angel’s and Reece’s romance had me white-knuckle reading.

Leigh's writing hits an emotional cord that few sexier reads even come close to. She created lots of steam while building a tale thick with heartfelt characters and plot to balance that sexual tension we've come to love from Leigh.

I received this ARC copy of Nauti Angel from Berkley Publishing Group. This is my honest and voluntary review. Nauti Angel is set for publication Nov. 7, 2017.

When Angel Callaway shows up in Somerset she is very protective of the young Mackay girls, especially Bliss. Chaya Mackay is suspicious of why Angel is so attached to her daughter Bliss.

Former Army investigator Reece "Duke" Duquaine is determined to uncover whatever secret Angel is hiding.

Once that secret is revealed it will be explosive. And things heat up to sizzling heights between Angel and Duke.

This secret will either bring the Mackay family together or destroy them.

Nauti Angel is an emotional romantic suspense that will engage you on multiple levels. Angel Calloway has come through hell and is tough as nails. Duke is tough as nails except when it comes to Angel. He is by her side during this emotionally and physically tough time. Angle can handle the physical but the emotional may just be too much for her to handle. Thankfully Duke has broad shoulders and will help her through it. Break out the tissues and enjoy.

Such a great story, I loved Nauti Angel. It was emotional, intense and it has some really hot moments. They story was interesting and the characters enjoyable.

At the beginning I find myself a little bit confused about what is happening since I haven't read the previous books but I continued reading and I enjoyed the story once I start understanding more.

Both characters intrigued me and I like that the heroine was strong.I could easily relate and connect with her.The hero was the perfect sexy alpha male.I think it will be better now to read all the previous books to get the back story.

Overall I enjoyed it ,it has suspense and action perfect to keep your interest until the end.

Say it ain't so! Is this the last in the Nauti Series? When Ms. Leigh expanded this series from Nauti boys to girls, I squeed in delight. The MacKay boys were steamy hawt men who suffered at the hands of those who should have loved and cared for them. Determined to shower the next generation with love and protection, the Nauti Girls were sheltered by their overprotective male relatives. There are hints this is the last in the series and that would be a sad day, even if I understand it. This latest one is pretty rough. Rough in the emotional trauma dealt to Angel.

Angel is a strong character because she's had to survive. Her life starting at the young age of three was to be killed or survive. After that, it was to kill or be killed. This story starts out with a devastating scene with the young Angel, in a war torn Afghanistan. As far as I'm concerned, any parent who decides to bring their young child into a war zone should not be a parent. They should be shot and the child removed from their neglectful care. Unfortunately for Angel, not only does her father betray her, but she is left unwanted by a mother she thought the sun rose and set by. Some argue that children at this tender age of three would have no members. Since I have memories starting around one and a half, I can completely believe Angel's memories and the intensity of her hurt.

Fast forward to twenty years later and Angel may still have the internal damage of being unwanted, but she is now much stronger. Her raison d'etre is to protect and rescue children in dire situations. Angel is more like a Battle Angel with a death wish. The number of times she's nearly died is quite impressive. This devil may care attitude is a trial for the man who loves her, Duke. In additional to frustrating Angel's adoptive brothers. The reason for Angel's disregard stems from her "mommy issues". Generally speaking, I scoff at Mommy and Daddy issues as #firstworldproblems. In this book, Ms. Leigh does a credible and painful illustration of what it means to have issues of abandonment. What is worse is when Angel is finally reunited with her mother, her mother not only doesn't recognize her, but treats her horribly.

This story broke my heart. In previous stories, I admired Angel's mother. In this one, not so much. I couldn't believe the callousness and cruelty doled out to a child who is just seeking for validation that her existence matters. Tears drip down my face as Angel experiences the loss and devastation all over again. This tale is not just a long sob story. The plot is regarding Angel's sister being targeted for unknown reasons. Angel is ideally suited to protecting her sister. This comes at a great cost as she can experience first hand the difference of her sterile upbringing in comparison to her treasured sister. The fact that Angel is not jealous is short of amazing. Whilst she's protecting her sister and trying to figure out how to connect with her mother, her lover is thrown into the mix. All these emotions and sensations Angel goes through would throw anyone off their game. Not for Angel. Her ability to compartmentalize is impressive.

This story is a rollercoaster ride. Between the love Duke forces upon her with and the tentative love her mother tries to shower her with, Angel is turned around. The struggle is real as Angel tries to reconcile her mother's side of the story with what Angel knew to be truth. Neither women are wrong, but the end result is still the same. Twenty years of emotional shrapnel slowly worming through their heart. This angst filled story made me feel intense and I loved it. Ms. Leigh delivers another emotionally wrenching erotica with a happily ever after. This erotica is recommended to romance readers who like strong heroines and alpha males.

I have to confess I have not read every book in this series. I'm missing a few in the middle but i did read Natches and Chaya's book way back when it came out so i knew the history there before starting this one. Angel is as tough as they come. Tougher than she should have to be. She thought she was abandoned by her mother when she was only three. Now 20 years later she is forced to lay it all out there shocking many. Once the cat is out of the bag though things get crazy when someone also seems to be trying to kidnap Bliss and kill Angel. This is a emotional book for pretty much all the characters. There's a lot of intense danger mixed in although nothing really actually happens until the very end were made to feel like something is imminent. There's a bit of a twist at the end that is actually pretty easy to see coming. Parts are very predictable and if the parties involved actually acted like adults considering the dangerous situation they were in things could've been figured out sooner. Angel kind of is made to have her feelings dismissed at the beginning and a better part of the book. This angered me because between her and Chaya she is still the child in this scenario. Why should she forgive instantly after all the stuff she's gone through in the past twenty years? Somehow the book still worked for me over all. If i overlooked the stuff that bothered me. I think it was Duke and Angel that made it for me. Angel is tough and she gives no quarter to anyone for being so. Duke is there for her backing her up in every way. Over all i enjoyed it.

I have loved this series so much and Nauti Angel is the last one and I think I love it the best. This book tells of Angel who really is the child Beth that her mother Chaya was told was dead 20 years ago. Chaya for twenty year has kept a bedroom that looked like the one where she left Angel when she was 3, and every year has cried on her daughter's birthday and Christmas for her baby Beth.

Angel, at age 3 lost her mother and was wandering around town when an American soldier's dog found her and made her walk with him to his owner. This began the training of Angel as a mercenary. It isn't until she is fifteen that she remembers she really did have her own mother and with her half brothers is hired to do a job and she comes in contact with the Mackay's and she realizes she has a sister.

Chaya on the other hand does not believe that Angel is not someone looking for trouble and tries to keep her daughter Bliss away from Angel which hurts Angel even though she won't admit it. I do not want to say to much as book is not out yet but this is the perfect ending for the Nauti Series and we get to hear what has happened with them, meet others again from the past and most of all get a powerful story full of danger, love and redemption.

I gave this book 5***** stars!

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was a good addition to this series. Love those Mackay's and Duke is such a sexy, wonderful hero. I enjoyed it. For someone so young Angel has been through so much. She is such an awesome and strong character! Lora does a wonderful job with all of her characters as usual.
Charged up with action and suspense this book was intense and read very quickly for me.

Another winner in the Nauti series. It's nice having a female character who is as strong as the male characters.

Wow ! Lora Leigh surprised me so good with this book.

I never saw the twist coming in this one. Not at all but then that's not unusual for this tricksy author. It seems like she blows my mind with every book. The bones of this emotional plot went back to Natches and Chaya in Nauti Dreams so it will be a must read for followers of this series. This book was super special to me even as Lora Leigh spun a story that emotionally gutted me in the beginning. It definitely strung me along on the edge and I was crying for Angel up until Duke entered and the big picture started to make sense to me. Of course, everything about this book was intense because that's what happens in all of Lora Leigh's books .... for me anyway.

It was easy to connect with the richness of this story, especially knowing the history, and beautiful characters. I'm talking about incredibly vibrant characters who Lora Leigh brings to life in our imaginations. They stick with this reader and I could have long conversations about them for years to come. Their journeys are often painful and emotional like this one was for Angel and Duke, and Chaya and Natches. Lora Leigh spins an incredible and complex web of passion and secrets so that the reader doesn't see exactly what's coming until it's revealed. I don't know how she does it but it never fails to blow my mind every time.

It must be said that Lora Leigh always delivers a fabulous, emotional, and suspenseful story. You can't go wrong with any of her books but I especially loved this one.

Angel has been on the outskirts of the Mackay family for years. But when an attempt is made to kidnap her sister she knows she must come out of the shadows. However will the pain of her past stop her from seeing the promise of the future?
Nauti Angel by Lora Leigh is an action packed story form beginning to end. While you could probably pick this up as your first connection to this world, it is much better having read prior stories in this world. I love returning to the Mackay world. These men are something so sexy and comforting. And Duke is no exception. He gets Angel, even more so then she is comfortable admitting to. I love that Ms. Leigh gave Angel a man who understands and is will to fight with and for her. Duke refuses to allow Angel to bury her head in the sand. He wants her healed even if the healing is painful. This story by Ms. Leigh is emotional. Angel needs to accept her past and grasp her future, but will she fight until it is too late? Finding out is half the battle as Duke and Angel race to protect their family and their hearts.

This was an ok book, but there was too much angst and anger to get through at the first of the book.

The Nauti series has been around for a long time, I read the originally series in my early 20's.
Now only discovering there is a spin off to that series, I found the characters to be fun, sexy and real. While gripping action suspense has you sitting on the edge of your seat.

with that being said, I didn't enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. Yes I found it thrilling and sexy, I just couldn't connect with the characters, I'm not sure if that is because I haven't read the previous ones.

The sex scenes are, as always Ah-mazing.

I didn't hate this one but I didn't love it.

Overall a good story with lots of passion and a solid ending, I have always loved Lora Leigh's erotic story telling.

Angel has lived through much more than most people have in her short life time. A survivor at age 3, she is taken in by a family of mercenaries and becomes one of them. But the mystery of who Angel really is changes her and she has to fight to reclaim her past. This is a great read with lots of suspense and romance. I highly recommend it!

I loved this book! It had everything I have come to love about Lora Leigh's books: romance, humor, mystery, action, sexy hot scenes and love! I have been reading this series for a while and I am never disappointed. Angels story was wonderful and I love how all the women in this series are strong and kick butt right along with their man. Angel and Duke are wonderful together and I love seeing their story develop. Angels story was wonderful and sad but she had so many people that loved her, can't wait for the next book in this series!

Love Lora Leigh! She has made magic again! Angel finds herself forced to confront her past when her family is in danger. Duke, a MacKay cousin, has worked to keep Angel alive and healthy for years. He won't let her off on this trip without his help. As the family faces a full on assault, angel must reconcile her past to have a future...and she must do it with all those damn MacKays.

All your Nauti heroes are back in this new novel from Lora Leigh!

My only negative is that Leigh is repetitive in language. She explains characters every time they appear as if the reader won't remember. Give us some credit here!
