There are a lot of books for younger readers right now that feature one kid who is really good at science and one who is really good at art or fashion. I find this so odd as it sends out a message to kids that you'll probably only be good at one of those things. But still, kids seem to like these stories and this title does have particularly sweet illustrations and a fun DIY project at the end.
I thought this was such a cute book! I loved everything about it! I thought the plot was great for just a kids book as well as the characters. I think they did a great job with the girls and showing their true feelings. It was such a little kids book (big writing, short, lots of pictures) but still so great. Really quick read as well. Great for little girls!
I have no strong feelings about this book. Let's be frank: the friendship jealousy story is a bit overdone.
Really, there's nothing wrong with this book. It's a reasonable plot with a pleasant cast of characters. I just wasn't wowed by the plot. It's the first in a series, though, so I'd be interested to see the general direction of the series on the whole.
The story of friendship, new and old and figuring out how to make it all work. I love how the friends found one another, worked through challenges and created something really beautiful at the end. My 7yo loved this book and I think it will be a book that catches on quickly with early readers. This is a wonderful series and I can't wait to see more.
This was a wonderful book in what I expect will be a fantastic series. The diverse characters, the exploration of friendship, and the creativity make for an engaging and fun story. I appreciated the inclusion of a male character in the group of friends as I think it will expand the appeal of the book. The addition of the bracelet how-to at the end of the book will excite readers and increase their engagement in the story. I would definitely read future titles in this series.
