A couple hoping to save their rocky marriage leaves New York for Sicily. Catherine can concentrate on her art, not the wreckage of her career in New York while Mark hopes for a fresh start of his own with Italy’s agricultural treasures. All their good intentions are for naught, as the arrival of a child drives a wedge between them. causing Mark to betray his wife in ways they may not recover from. I loved the descriptions of the little village where Mark and Catherine settle, its beauty serving as a foil for the dark secrets and lies that are just beneath the surface of both the marriage and the village
