I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book one in the Game for it series. This was a new author for me. I decided to give this a shot it took me awhile to get into the book but once I got started I really enjoyed it. The story was nice and steamy and a pretty good romance. If your looking for a good steamy read give this a shot.
The press has played Jared off as a womanizer. The last straw is when an ex-team mates wife hits on Jared and tells everyone he is the reason for her failed marriage. The new owner of the team wants to clean up his reputation and what better way than to have Jared get married.
In the beginning, Jared isn't on board with the marriage idea. When he meets Sheridan, he is genuinely interested in her and invites her out for a drink. When the publicist finds out, he researches her and decides she would make a great candidate for Jared's new wife.
This one started out really good. The heat between Jared and Sheridan felt natural. They have a really hot night together but then Sheridan sneaks out. She wasn't expecting Jared and his publicist to show up at her gallery the next day to propose a fake marriage deal.
Sheridan is on the verge of losing her grandmothers gallery and that's the only reason she says yes. To keep her safe, she adds a no sex clause to the contract. This is where their natural chemistry kind of waned for me. I think it's just hard to start a story out when the couple is hot in the beginning then cool them down after.
The writing is good and overall, it wasn't a bad story. I'll read more from this author.
game for marriage kicks off with one hot night of crazy sex for jared quinn and sheridan harper. jared is the star quarterback for the local team, and happens to be in dire need of image rehab. the team publicist believes that sheridan will make the perfect fake wife, especially considering she's barely making ends meet in order to keep her art studio open.
it's too hard to say no to the deal they offer and before she knows it sheridan harper becomes sheridan quinn. and things would be going swimmingly if it weren't for a no-sex clause sheridan had insisted writing into their marriage contract. at the time sheridan was thinking to protect her heart because too many wild nights with jared would inevitably result in heartbreak.
she hadn't counted on wanting him in spite of all the possible terrible consequences. getting to know her husband she realizes that he's not really the scumbag player he's made out to be in the press. and the guy he is around her is someone easy to love. negotiating how to make this fake relationship a real one will involve some fancy footwork. but there's too much heat and emotion between these two that there is only one conclusion.
i'm a big fan of fake relationship stories. and football too. and watching sheridan and jared figure out that all those pretend emotions are something very real is well worth the read.
This was a cute, although predictable plot. I liked that Sheridan and Jared had met before their was a discussion about the contract. It really solidified their bond for me.
Great character development, the plot had a few twists but again fairly predictable.
A good solid romance with a likeable set of characters. ENjoyed
I really enjoyed this sweet, steamy, fun and easy to read story. I read this book in one day, I couldn't put it down. Great storyline. I loved the chemistry between Sheridan and Jared. I found myself cheering for their relationship to work. I liked how Karen Erickson developed the supporting characters, that I can't wait to read the next book in this series. It can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend this book.
