This one is a split decision in my household. The story managed to resonate with my 8 year old, superhero loving, daughter even though it didn't work for me. She especially loved the pages that had split illustrations depicting both Supergirl and the Super sleepy girl. I personally felt like the story was too sparse and didn't necessarily correlate the Superhero's actions with that of the girl going to bed. My favorite part was the checklist at the end reminding the book's owners to snuggle, read, be brave etc..
There is an incredible burgeoning market for young superhero and comic book lovers, especially female ones, that I truly feel like this story could have been Awesome! Granted, I am not the targeted demographic BUT as the mother of a young hero loving daughter (and the one who purchases her reading materials) I am a bit sad that this didn't hit the mark for me. Is it cute? Yes. Is it steeped in Superheroes and their diverse awesomeness? Not really. It does convey the sentiment that whether you are a superhero or a super kiddo, everyone needs to find time to wind down and recharge. Was this a homerun? Nope, but it did get decent feedback from my Little One and in the end she's the one that will hopefully be coming back to read this over and over again.
Sweet dreams supergirl is now going to be added to a must read bedtime routine for my little girls. They love it.
Really awesome for girls obsessed with super heroes. My 3.5 year old girl loved this story.
Enjoyable addition to the series from Michael Dahl. Covers a lot of the same ground as "Good Night, Dark Knight" but is still a cute read for young super hero fans.
This is the perfect bedtime story book for all those budding little superheroes out there. Very much like Michael Dahl's other DC superhero picture books, Sweet Dreams, Supergirl is a fun and brightly illustrated read full of action and excitement. It's a great reminder that even superheroes have to wind down at the end of a long, action-filled day.
The full page illustrations feature both Supergirl (as well as a few of her super friends) and a little girl who is just as super. It contrasts the hardships of the day with getting ready for bed in a comic book style that is lots of fun.
I especially loved that the book on her nightstand and that her mother reads to her at night is so obviously The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's one of my favorites so it stood out, though I have no idea what it has to do with superheroes.
Sweet Dreams, Supergirl is a great addition to Michael Dahl's DC Super Heroes collection. Supergirl and the protagonist in the book have action-packed days that use up their energy. To get ready for another day, they must stay brave and dream big.
Sweet dream, Supergirl is a great before bedtime read to help get any superhero-loving child into a nighttime routine that helps them rest up for another exciting day.
I thought this was a super cute kids book. Geared towards young girls, it compares Supergirl to a little girl getting ready for bed. The illustrations are really nicely done, and I think its great for young girls, especially if they already like superheroes/Supergirl.
Oh my gosh, this series is so sweet and adorable. I always look forward to more.
This book is absolutely adorable and shows super girl in parallel with a little super hero fan. The book goes through when it's time to sleep, that you should be brave each day and courageous at night. Tomorrow a hero will be needed to soar. It is a really nice story to tell little girls that they need to sleep so that the next day they can kick ass. Share Stories. Say Goodnight. Snuggle Up. Breathe Easy. Stay Brave. Dream Big.
I really loved this book and am looking forward to sharing it with some little girls who need to know that they can be a super hero soon.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review. I was not otherwise compensated.
After reviewing and purchasing Bedtime for Batman, Good morning Superman, and Be a star Wonder Woman I am thrilled to see another title in this series, Sweet Dreams, Supergirl. Colorful and engaging digital artwork are perfect for the superhero story. Engaging text and story will keep your little super girl entertained. Must buy for public libraries with a demand for super hero title (and who doesn't?!)
This is the perfect mix of little kids picture book meets youngest readers graphic novel meets bedtime story. Great illustrations and a sweet goodnight message. Looking forward to the finished print version for the young super fans in my life!
Superheroes run abundant in my house. We know all about Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and the list goes on and on, and on and on, well you get the idea. My kid is a superhero fanatic. Now, when I introduced him to this book, Sweet Dreams, SuperGirl by Michael Dahl, I wasn’t sure if he would like it since it’s a “girl” superhero, but he actually took a quick licking to it, and made me read it several times in a row.
The way that I can tell if a book for kids is good, is how many times I have to read it. If I hear “okay, let’s not read that again.” then chances are the book just isn’t that entertaining. Well, when we read this I heard, “Let’s read it one more time.” about 5 times in a row. This book is awesome, it shows SuperGirl kicking butt throughout the day, and a little girl getting ready for bedtime at night.
It’s just such a sweet story about how a little girl can visualize herself as a superhero, and how confidence, bravery, and imagination are powerful. The pictures in this book are quite comic book like, and really interesting. There is a contrast between the SuperGirl pictures and the little girls pictures, it’s awesome. We had a lot of fun reading this book, and I’m sure we will read it much much more. Your little ones will probably get a kick out of it too. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you, Netgalley, for the book!

5 stars.
Oh my god im in love. This book is BEAUTIFUL! The artwork is stunning, it would definitely grab little childrens eyes. Even I took along time just taking in all of the pictures.
The story is perfect for bedtime. Trying to get children to settle at night and telling them that even superheroes need to relax and go to sleep is such a good idea. To have somebody be such a positive role model for all little girls (and boys) to look up to is so important. So to have Supergirl included in this just makes it the 5 stars. Its an adorable book. One that I can see being a favourite at bedtime. Im adding it to my list of books to buy.
I love Sweet Dreams, Supergirl!
I wish my daughter was still young enough for me to read this to her every night. I don’t know what else to say but that it is completely adorable.
I might read it to myself every night before I go to bed.
(And I love that Streaky the Supercat makes an appearance and the little girl has a Streaky the Supercat toy!)
Another edition to Michael Dahl's superhero series, Sweet Dreams, Supergirl tells the story of a young girl at bedtime. The girl mimics the actions of Supergirl as she readys herself for bed. The illustrations are engaging and bright. Children 3-7 years old can benefit from the sweet dreams checklist as a reminder of children's nighttime responsibilities and things to do before bed. The story promotes bravery, power, and rest. Overall a quick read before bed.
Note: I was allowed an advance copy of this book to review. In no way did that affect my opinions.
Sweet Dreams, Supergirl is another installment in Michael Dahl's superhero picture book series. I love the series and this one is no exception. This time we have a female protagonist and superhero and we see a split screen type spread of each of them going about their day and winding down at the end of the day. There is a nice message included about continuing to be brave even after the day is over which little ones with a fear of the dark will find helpful. Overall this is a well illustrated, well written and fun picture book that Super Hero lovers of all ages will enjoy.
A beautiful written and drawn graphic novel book about a young girl who imagines supergirl saving the day and imitating some of the ways of super girl like helping others and facing challenges but overcoming them. For a younger audience. I love seeing the young girl character who is imagining that she can be supergirl Gir power!!!!
This book can be read over, and over again, and still discover something new. Endearing. The book can stay with your child as they grow in understanding with language skills and visual acuity. The whole series is worth buying.

Loved the story, loved the illustrations. This story show "super girl" getting ready for bed and what you must do to prepare.
