This is part of a series and if you have read one, you have read them all. What makes this one stand out is the girl, and the great female soccer team the family goes to see play. A nice soccer story for your sports fan.

This is quite a good book for young children who enjoy football. It follows a young girl going to a game where goals are scored, her team win and then everyone says goodnight and how well they did.

Having read Goodnight Hockey, I was anticipating a similar style of story, and I wasn't disappointed. The rhyme scheme will appeal to young readers. The repetition of sounds helps early readers anticipate words for more fluent reading. For young soccer fans, the story is sure to be a hit. It would work great as a naptime or bedtime read. The illustrations are cheerful and depict the action perfectly from cheering for the championship team to curling up to sleep for the night.

If you have a young soccer fan and/or player then this should be a MUST to have in your house particularly for bedtime reading.

It’s obviously written for the more Americanized fan as most of the world knows this game as Football or a variation thereof but the game itself is easily recognizable so I wouldn’t let the name deter you from letting your kid enjoy the heart of this story.

The story is short, sweet, with a good rhyming pace and reminiscent of Goodnight Moon so it will surely help your little one off to dreaming of winning the World Cup.

The artwork is bright and captivating yet soothing and showcases plenty of diversity which is perfect for a game that is played globally. The details and action shots are wonderful as there were a few pages where it felt like we were right there in the thick of things ready for the ball to come flying at us. I could practically hear my favorite announcer calling the game as we went through the story.

My girls enjoyed it and their opinion is what mattered most to me.

Goodnight Soccer is the perfect book for snuggling up with your little ones before bed, or reading to a classroom before nap time. The illustrations were beautiful and I enjoyed the rhyme scheme of the story. This is the kind of story kids will want to read each night.
