I love the concept of this book. A revenge book for those oh so annoying exes, revenge being all the sweet confections that would drive them mad they are missing. The pictures are fun, and colorful, but the names are even better. Like Suck it Up and Grow a PEAR! I'm not your HoneyBUNS., It's not you, it's BRIE, and You're Such a FLAKE, a butterfinger flake bars.

My only negative was the format it was provided in (Digital ePub) which made it nearly impossible to carry with me, or use in the kitchen. I really wanted to make a few of the recipes. I would totally buy if it was in a different format.

I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet Revenge: Passive-Aggressive Desserts for Your Exes & Enemies by Heather Kim would be a great gift for a girlfriend dealing with a breakup. The book is geared more toward teens, and that is evident from some of the ingredients. The monster cookies include nacho cheese chips, and an ice cream sandwich is made with hot Cheetos. I opted not to try any of the recipes. Not all of the recipes include weird ingredients, but that is not the only problem. The ingredient list of the cinnamon rolls in particular as well as the cakes left me questioning if they would even work. The ratios of ingredients for many of the recipes would never yield good results. While it is a nice idea, as a cookbook I am not impressed.

I received an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback.

Fearless recipes, brilliant photos, super-fun illustrations. Yeah, this book is stuffed with photos of sugary, baked goods, but the premise here is about more than just stuffing your face to avoid relationship woes. It's about channeling energy into something creative and productive-while learning some real baking skills. Brilliant. I'm much older than the target demographic, but I loved it anyway.

Such a fun cookbook! The recipes were all really easy to follow and the ingredients and tools were things I already had in my kitchen or easy to find at my local grocery store. The images were gorgeous! I loved all of the scribbles, drawings, and comments made by the author. I was having fun just reading the cookbook while I was looking for some recipes to try out. The chocolate-hazelnut-peanut butter bar called "You've Lowered the Bar" was my favorite recipe! Overall, this cookbook is fun, edgy, gorgeous, and full of great recipes!

This quirky cookbook of sweet treats and baked goods for your "enemies" might suffer from overuse of commercial goods from fritos to butterfingers to flaming hot cheetos. I wasn't always sure if this was meant as a genuine cookbook or just a funny book to flip through. But the recipes hold up. I made the butterscotch pots de cremes and they were tasty, although I didn't top them with chopped up candy bars. I enjoyed reading the cookbook and laughed from time to time, and will probably still make the devil's food cake. After all, what else will I do with all that edible glitter?

Look up a picture of Heather Kim, and you'll get a good idea of the style of this cookbook, even taking away that amazing attention-grabbing title. She's young and spunky and covered in tattoos and I really, really need to be her friend. Or at least to tattoo me. Or to bake for me.

Please be my friend.

These recipes not only sound delicious, they're hilariously titled, instructed, and annotated. From I Don't Give a Fig About You (figgy cookies) to Please Turnover and Die Soon (rhubarb turnovers), and even TBH, You're a Total D-Bagel (chocolate-bagel pudding). The difficulty level is clearly explained, and while there is plenty in here I couldn't even come close to attempting, I did find so many recipes that sound so delicious, there's no way I won't try to re-create them.

But also, some of these recipes are so freaking weird. Peanut-corn chip candy. What's that, you say? Candied Fritos. CANDIED. FRITOS. But wait, there's more! I've actually heard of candied chicken skin, but candied funyuns?! Hot Cheetos ganache?! White chocolate candied ramen?! Are you insane? Why would you do this, and why do I have such an intense desire to eat them?! Like, why am I not currently eating a cake coated in sriracha icing?!

Y'all. I need this cookbook. And I do happen to have some pictures to use for mixing utensils, as directed.

This is the perfect cookbook for any snarky, fun-loving, sarcastic individuals who love to try new and unusual recipes. The titles of the recipes are hilarious on their own, but add the illustrations and descriptions and I could not stop laughing. Loved it.

I love this cookbook.

Aside from the wonderfully delicious recipes (mmm...that devil's food cake and those cap'n crunch cookies), Heather Kim's Sweet Revenge manages to be both informative and just plain fun to read.

The photos are gorgeous and Kim is hilarious. She totally gets the breakups, the heartbreaks, and the frenemies - and helps you put all that energy, anger, and frustration into some amazingly delicious (and high calorie) desserts.

Honestly, you could get this cookbook, never cook a thing in it, and still love it. But, the recipes range from easy (when you just have a little angst) to extremely hard - when you really need to get your aggressions out - and every one looks amazing.

We've tried three or four recipes so far, and are anxious to try more.

And here's hoping Kim comes out with more cookbooks in the future. She's an absolute delight!

This cookbook hits the perfect balance of being as entertaining to read as it is delicious to cook out of! With a snarky bent toward "kill 'em with kindness," it's chock full of decadent recipes that will either make your ex rue the day your relationship ended or allow you to eat your feelings in solitary deliciousness. I tested the "You're Such a Flake Butterfinger Bars," and the helpful/humorous recipe notes allowed me to successfully make a treat that required both scalding cream and caramelizing sugar, neither of which I'd ever done. After all, who could mistake "until it smokes and froths like a rabid dog" as the finishing point for caramelization? With a range of recipe difficulties, bold design elements, striking photography, and hilarious additions like dating profiles for different types of sugars/nuts/flours, "Sweet Revenge" will delight both seasoned bakers and casual cooks.

5☆ Scumptious Delights, Such a Fresh and Fun Cook Book! A Must Read!

Sweet revenge is the best cookbook name I've come across in ages!
It's Fun, Bright, Gorgeous Illustrations, it's an angry but light hearted cookbook.
Which amused me so much.
 It's more than just a cookbook it's a Fresh & innovative!

For instance the first few pages of a cook book normally show you equipment, conversions or some sort of guide.
Sweet revenge shows you....
Quirky 100% essential tools & pictures... hmm... A blow torch...A butcher knife....a Mallet & A frying pan... it has me in fits of laughter!
It's certainly a play on the imagination!

Then instead of a skill rating.... there is a burns guide with some pretty colourful flames, ranking from - mild (easy), 1st degree, 2nd degree then epic burns (very difficult)!

Every little illustration can be a play on a double entendre!
So so clever, and completely keeping in Character with the book subject!

Ok so now to the Scrumptious part!
Each little section and recipie has a fitting slogan/ phrase/ word to represent anger & revenge. A play on words!

For example - the first chapter -
Go Ahead and 'Bite Me ' sized treats (Bite Me being the play on words)

1st recipe - You're a Total 'Monster' Cookies
2nd recipe - 'Kiss My' Molasses (ginger snaps with Lemon Curd)

Each recipe is easy to follow, it is however in Cup measurements.
But not to worry if you don't have cup measures, as a conversion guide has been included.
Each recipe has a burn factor  (skill level) & cooking time & how many it makes. Some include illustrations to help aid the more tricky parts of the method. Each recipe has a beautiful photograph of the finished delights so you can see what your at least aiming for!

Not only do you get mouthwatering recipes you also get lots of fun information regarding ingredients, etc..
For example... 'How to Spot a Nut'... there are pictures of all kinds of nuts... walnuts, Cashew, pecan.

So here is just a few recipes I can't wait to try, although i like all of them lol

- You've Lowered the Bar (chocolate-hazelnut peanut butter bars)
- You're such a Flake (Butterfinger Flake bars)
- I'm not your buttercup ( Pretzel - peanut butter cups)
- Everyday I regret you S'more (S'more Brownies)
- You're the Devil Food Cake
- I'm not your Honey Buns ( cinnamon buns & honey glaze)
- TBH You're a Total D-Bagel (chocolate Bagel pudding with cream cheese ice cream)
- DONUT call me again (Mochi Doughnuts with Lemon & nutmeg glaze)
- Worlds greatest POS (piece of Strudel)
- I ain't Pudding up with you  (butterscotch pudding pots)
- You're a Hot Mess (Eton mess)
- FYI I'm not Fondue of You ( hot chocolate fondue)

So as you can see there is alot of tummy rumbling delights just waiting to be made!

Sweet Revenge is Definetly a Fun foodie Must Have.
It's easy to follow, eye catching, funny, highly entertaining and that's just the recipe names!
It has something for everyone.
The perfect present!

At first I thought it would be best suited to younger bakers/cooks but I'm 36 and I loved it!
I showed it to my mum and she wants a copy she thought it was great.
So I guess it's really is suited to everyone!

Happy Baking!!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Capstone, and Heather Kim for the opportunity to read and review this fun cookbook.

Perfect for millennials - I can imagine one girlfriend gifting this to another to get over a guy. The premise is that you can kill your enemies (exes) with kindness - or food. While the names of the recipes and the graphics are killer, the dessert recipes are really fun and this book includes lots of helpful cooking info. Nothing is healthy here - would you expect it to be if you are in the kitchen getting over an ex? With cookies made from Cap'n Crunch, Cannoli Waffles, to Elvis Cupcakes with Butterscotch Candied Bacon, you'll have fun reading this book and baking from it!

This book is so much fun! Filled with vibrant photography and funny names for all the sweet treats, this is going to be a must have for any baker with a sense of humor. The recipes look delicious and pretty easy to follow, and along side them are great get-back-at-those-exes tips, because as the title ultimately states, this is a revenge book after all.

You have most likely guessed from the title of this book alone that it is a fun way to take your heartbreak into the kitchen and work out some of your frustrations by making treats. Kim’s approach is one that is not a self-help book per se, but a book that can be used to get a little bit of “sweet revenge.” The act of mixing and baking has never had such a unique twist!

Sweet Revenge is a collection of recipes with some hilarious treats to make for that ex of yours (or yourself). There are cookies, bars, cakes and candies of all sorts to create. So many of the recipes are simple and have lots of interesting additions such as Doritos and Butterfingers. The images and the titles are so well thought out that they will make you laugh out loud, which is really the best therapy there is in my opinion. How can you keep a straight face while making a coffee cake entitled, You’re the Crumb of the Earth?

I gave the You’ve Lowered the Bar (aka: Chocolate-Hazlenut Peanut Butter Bars) a try and they were so fast and easy to make. Personally, I wouldn’t give anything so yummy away to an enemy or an ex, so I enjoyed it with my friends instead. There is something about chocolate and peanut butter mixed together that can be quite satisfying.

This is one unique type of cookbook that has some fun and original ideas to help heal anyone’s heart. The images are whimsical and the recipes are perfect for anyone in need of a little revenge.

This book is genius! HK did a marvelous job of combining her experiences with the recipes which made for a great "read". The art is amazing and this is truly an amazing book.

This is the book for all those book lovers and sweet junkies out there that not only love to read, but enjoy creating fabulously fun food. I jumped right in and tried some of the intriguing recipes and shared the results with friends and family. Not only were the recipes easy to follow, each one I tried turned out well and tasted fabulous. One of the recipes I tried was the Pear Cheesecake with Ginger Gastrique, I a well put together cheesecake is pure heaven to me and the only thing that can make it better is to add fruit. If your like me and love this combo, this is a must try recipe. Another one that I can't not mention is the Five-Spice Donut Muffins, what a wonderful combination. It includes a Coconut Dip, can you tell I love fruit, and makes for a fun dish to take to any get together or you can simply make it for brunch. It's definitely the kind of book that you can literally take a bite right out of it!!! I look forward to making my way through all the recipes and expect I will have some new favorites in the near future.

While this cookbook is aimed at the teen crowd, coeds and adults may find this book just as humorous and yummy too! After all, we've ALL had bad break ups! And while we may not as adults Facebook stalk (right, who am I kidding, adults are WORSE than teens), having this cookbook might just curb all that energy into more productive pursuits, like learning to bake and share your goodies with the friends you CAN count on!
The pictures will make you WANT to run for the kitchen as they are SOOOOOO yummy and enticing, as you can see. I love how Heather takes the 'never before baked' lovelorn and walks them through knowing everything from bowls to use, to ingredients and why to use them, before starting the recipes. Additional info, like typical serving size (above) also helps to let the new baker know HOW many times to make the recipe, based on how much food therapy is needed, LOL! Altogether, it's a pretty decent cookbook, and I would recommend it for ALLL teens, as a great starting baking cookbook.

Add some fun kitchen tools, a funny notebook and pen, to the cookbook, and you've got a cute Christmas, or birthday present for your favorite teen. And while they may not need it right now, they probaby will soon, and then they really will appreciate your generosity!

I give this awesome cookbook 5 out of 5 Fantastic Stars! This book was effin’ hilarious. I loved how this wasn’t your average self help book. Nope, this was passive aggressive awesomeness! I mean this author was hilarious!
Her metaphors and how in the first chapter she mentions Jedi mind tricks was just hands down the best cookbook one can own.
Unfortunatley I got this title via NetGalley which I am thankful as hell but I can’t wait until it comes out on New Year’s day so I can buy it or convince someone to buy it for me. Mwhahaha. Anywho, the photography gives you instant muchies and is simply amazing.
This book constantly made me smile. I loved how the author even put together these awesome charts and tables detailing this descriptivaly hilarious. There is even lists of tools needed, conversions, and charts that are perfect for the beginner passive aggressive baker like me! If you are looking for a good dose of shits and giggles and want some easy and delicious recipes, you must read this book! Highly recommended and Dani-approved!

Succinctly, Sweet Revenge has great puns, fun illustrations and a variety of dessert options. However, for a cookbook aimed at younger bakers, even the simplest recipes were missing details that had me filling in the blanks myself. With probably 20 years of baking experience, that's something I can do... whether a 14 year old would have those same instincts is what gives me pause.

I tried five recipes out of this book and the end results were all delicious, don't get me wrong. The homemade fig newtons were spectacularly good, but the instructions for baking were hard to follow. The soft molasses cookies turned out okay but the recipe doesn't tell you how much it yields, how far apart to bake them, etc. The Reese's cup knockoffs were a hit at my office but the chocolate to peanut butter proportions were off and the sandwich bag with a corner cut was insufficient to pipe the peanut butter mixture.

Also, some of the recipes required hard-to-find ingredients despite my huge grocery store's sizable organics section and would have required a pricey Amazon order or a road trip to Whole Foods to procure.

A few of these recipes will probably be ones I go back to, but having turned to Pinterest for most of my baking needs in recent years, a cookbook has to "wow" me on two fronts to be worth a purchase: it must be a fun read and it must be a good cookbook. Unfortunately, Sweet Revenge only ticks one of those boxes.
