I love a good fantasy/adventure as much as the next one, particularly when the world is something new and unique. I mean really, fantasy pirates? Not enough is done in that world that I've read, however this title seems to have gone awry somewhere. The writing is great. I love the detail and dialog in the story, but the main character doesn't seem to have the kind of personality to fit the story he's in. The execution left a lot to be desired with this story, and that really just threw a wrench in it for me. I feel like this needs a massive re-write where the characters are concerned because it was like trying to mix two solids without a liquid to really combine the flavors. Not sure how I'd feel about a sequel.
An interesting fantasy read. One year after his fathers death, a strange pirate with a blue beard turns up at Kilian's house. Kilian decides to travel with Bluebeard, and as a result, discovers a world of magic that Kilian doesn't know much about.
This book was ok. I found the dialogue and Kilian himself, at times to be a little immature. The world building could have been a bit more detailed.
