It is a powerful book that carries the most important message: run for something, do something, change something.
A book that must be read.

After I was able to pick myself up off the floor after the 2016 election and a disastrous PTA campaign season (the latter a precursor for the gutter politics that has since followed) I needed something inspiring and Run for Something was it. Run for Something restored my faith in politicians ( just kidding, that hasn't happened), but I am pleased to see the number of new faces running, particularly in local races. Litman offers sound and practical advice that is easy to follow. This book is chock full of tips on probably the hardest part of running for office, where to start. So even if you don't plan for a life of public service, it is still a great read that provides insight into the inner workings of our government or fractious PTA meetings.

If you get a chance to read this book, I cannot recommend it enough. Regardless of whether you’re in Canada or the United States, this is an important book that encourages people to run for municipal and regional offices, in addition to other positions of leadership like seats on school boards. It’s an easy read and though sometimes repetitive, the important thing is that this will help you if you’re looking at running for any local leadership position, or help you, help others do the same.

Marching, writing, talking, calling, debating, crying and lamenting is not enough is the strong message set forth in this book that lays out step by step how we can each get involved in ways that really make a difference by running for something. Whether at the school, local, county, state or national level, politics is not a private exclusive club and to enact change we must be the changemakers.
