Thoroughly enjoyed Seamus Cleary and Serena MacQuire in tale with the story line and supporting characters. Settle in for a good read.

Ebook from net galley and publishers with thanks but also own a ebook copy. Opinions are entirely my own.

Let me start off by saying that I didn't know what to expect reading the story so late in the series. Since there was no back story that was included to alert the reader about the previous characters, I felt that this worked as a stand alone quite well.

Then let me say that I had a really hard time accepting several things:
1. The near instantaneous falling in love of Seamus and Serena. I just could not see or feel any chemistry between them...oh the words and actions were there, they just didn't scream realism to me.
2. Just what a spoiled brat Serena turned out to be. With deep seeded anger issues, she lashes out and spews forth hurtful, unforgivable words when things are not as she sees them as they should to be...and all is forgiven so easily. Though she did get a tongue lashing at one point by Delilah, that was more the exception than the norm. I applaud strong women and all they are able to accomplish in both their private and personal lives, Serena did not come across as a strong woman.
3. She wallows in her misery (of her own doing), for days on end, feeling sorry for herself, not eating or bathing, then springs into action when Seamus is injured. She then becomes the center of everyone's attention because she is scared and faints. He ends up taking care of her right after he is kicked in the head by a horse.

The above, and more just didn't click or flow for me. Others I'm sure may not agree with my review, and truly enjoy this author's writing and this story...it just wasn't for me.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I enjoyed this story, however, the constant sex or reference to sex or trying to find ways to have sex did get tiresome.

Serena McGuire was a very accomplished artist who had come home for some peace and quiet and so she could work on her latest commissioned mural. She first met Seamus "Jim" Cleary when he arrived at her family's ranch and she mistakenly thought he was one of the movers whom she had hired to help her with some rearranging of her studio. She learned quickly that he was the new veterinarian in town and her friend, David's new partner. There was an instant attraction between the two but both had been hurt before and didn't want to go down that road again.

As they spent more time together, however, that attraction became stronger and stronger. Seamus was very protective of Serena and at times, Serena felt overwhelmed with their relationship.

You'll have to read the book to find out how their story ends.

I was given an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars
While I enjoyed reading this story and liked the characters, there were some aspects that were a bit annoying and the whole reading experience turned out to be a mix of moderate pleasure and lots of eye-rolling.
I think the author did a great job depicting the painting creative process and the veterinarians’ hard work.
I liked the characters, they were nice people; the hero abandoned his career as a football player to become a veterinarian and the heroine is a painter. There’s a bunch of secondary characters strongly connected to the main characters and all this familiarity, instant bonding and coziness was a bit over the top.
There are some things that just felt weird: the insta-attraction/love (between the main couple and a secondary one), the heroine’s romantic past, the duo Tiffany/Cole.
More telling than showing, delivering lots of information through dialogue, excessive talking about feelings and mutual praising didn’t work for me, but other readers might enjoy it.

Is Addie her grandmother?

Well, this is a case of mistaken identity.

The calf, remember, buddy?

Geez, she practically accused him of assaulting her.

I had assumed David was an elderly man, Guess not.

Small world.

Dr. Sloan is clearly a butthole.

Oh, man. Poor woman. Losing her horse is like losing her father all over again.

Who the heck is Jean-Claude?

Ten hours without eating or going to the bathroom? I'd die.

Power corrupts.

Hello, statutory rape.

Phew. I guess Jean-Claude had some morals, after all.

Cute kid.

Oh yeah, those two are destined for marriage, step-brother or not.

To be fair to Seamus, the words did sound condemning.

Preach it, Delilah.

He must not be too hurt if he has the energy for sex.

Aww.

I rehceived an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
