I would like to thank netgalley and The Wild Rose Press, Inc for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Interesting concept. I think the author got confused, because I was.
True love!! Beautiful love story with well developed characters.
Lorna and Hart are two souls whose hearts find each other even though born to different times. Get ready to sit back and travel to another time and place with this tale that will keep you turning the pages.
Ebook from Net Galley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
A very sweet novel with lots of romance for those romantics out there. It was a very easy read and great if you fancy just escaping for a few hours.
Lorna Randolph is hired by Harrison Hall for the Summer and there she meets the man of her dreams and sets her pulse racing but unfortunately he appears to have lived over 200 years a go! It transpires that Lorna had a past life with Hart and they've now been reunited as time can not keep true love apart.. Can Lorna and Hart stay reunited or will past events resurface one again and place our young lovers back in peril?
I really enjoyed this story which as all the ingredients required for a great read; romance, humour, mystery and the paranormal.. You can't beat a good love story and this definitely is one.
Publisher's Description:
Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn't expect to receive a note and a kiss from a handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.
Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna – and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart's life before the Midsummer Ball.
My Thoughts:
This unusual take on time travel is a poignant love story blended with past and present.
Our hero and heroine have a past together. One that Lorna has no real memory of. After her first encounter with Hart's ghost she begins to have brief glimpses of that past life that heretofore was blocked from her conscience memory.
There are two distinct problems that our couple must face. They both died in this shared past.
Can Lorna and Hart find a way to prevent the tragedy from being repeated or will the tragedies that lead to their demise keep repeating themselves?
This poignantly romantic and ghostly tale is sweetly romanticized and completely suitable for young adult readers as well as their older counterparts.
I gave this wonderfully written book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a sensual rating of 2.5 of 5.0 flames. The only really heated scenes were comprised of a few passionate kisses and snuggling in bed together.
I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
DNF. I wanted to like this book, the premise had promise, but unfortunately, the prose was so unsophisticated that I couldn't get past the first chapter.
"Hands down. No contest. He was the hottest guy ever."
I'm sorry, but I'm thirty-one, not thirteen, and have no interest in a protagonist who sounds like my preteen neighbor.
