The idea of The Vanishing Game is a promising one. Unfortunately, any promise of the story is overtaken by the horrible writing.

I gave up mentally at the main character saying (paraphrased) "thank God I was an ugly kid, Mom's boyfriends never bothered abusing me" and in finality when she said completely seriously "I envied their associations and their pizza."
