Rocco was a rom/com king mostly known for his looks but he has landed a serious role that will revive or break his career. Rocco was to play the lead in El Traficante the true story of Gabriel Mendoza - Columbia’s infamous drug lord- hated by many but idolized by more. Paul Allen was Rocco’s agent and best friend. Paul told rocco he was lucky to get the part and to do as the contract said or the studio would find someone else that would for the role. The studio wanted Rocco to have a bodyguard and there was an appointment for Rocco to be at Iron Clad Security- ICS- next week. Paul was always the calm, cool, and collected guy whereas Rocco was temperamental and quick acting. Joey and Jax were co-partners of ICB and Annie is Joey’s sister who ran the office for the two men. But being behind a desk was slowly eating at Annie’s soul as she wanted to be in the field. Annie and Joey had a very high IQ and handled most of the IT related jobs. Annie was capable of doing both if they would just give her a chance. Eight years in the army had toughened Annie up not that she hadn’t already been tough with four older brothers. No one knew of Annie’s nightmares or self loathing. She hadn’t been fast enough the first time she drew her weapon to kill and seven year old Yagena an afghan little girl had died in Annie’s arms. No nightmares or anything would bring back Derek who died across the street from her or Yagana . Joey could sit in his office every day all day as he loved coding but Annie needed the mental and physical challenge that came with fieldwork. It was what Annie was used to. It was what she was good at. Annie was a secret fan of Rocco’s and she did her research. Recently Rocco had been named by Most Eligible Bachelor and The Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. Rocco had dated just about every woman in Hollywood. The Arrogant playboy wouldn’t mess up her concentration that had happened once and she wouldn’t bear the loss and humiliation ever again. Rocco was hit with lust the minute he saw Annie. Annie got mad at Rocco’s attitude and flipped him and then she quit. After Annie left Rocco told Jax and Joey that Annie was who he wanted as his bodyguard. Annie’s best friend and roommate was Zander/Zan . Annie acted on on impulse, anger, and pent up frustration and Rocco had taken the brunt of her anger and rocco didn’t deserve it even if he had been to too cocky for his own good and he could sue Annie. Then Joey called and said the studio hired ICS but Rocco stipulated she be his bodyguard. But Annie was to play Rocco’s girlfriend for the next four months. Rocco and Paul were like brothers as the had grown up in the same foster care and only with the grace of God and luck Rocco had been spotted by a modeling agency at the mall and at seventeen and Rocco’s career took off from there. Rocco had never met a woman he wanted more than Annie.
I loved this story. It was a great and fun read. I loved the plot and pace. To make a woman the bodyguard of a male movie star was great. I enjoyed the alpha vive between Rocco and Annie. The back and forth. I felt bad that Annie had been traumatized while in the Army and lost so much. I loved how Rocco was really down to earth in his real life. I also loved how Annie filled the loneliness in Rocco and Rocco in her. This was just an all around great story and great romance. I snickered at times and choked up at times. Especially at Joey and his big brother protectiveness. I loved Rocco and Annie together. I also loved Rocco and Paul’s relationship. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

Last First Kiss by Sidney Halston is book two in her Iron Clad Security series and it was even better than the first, in my opinion. Annabelle Clad is such a strong and fierce heroine who you can't help but be enamored by her. Ms. Halston does a wonderful job of interweaving Annabelle's backstory and letting us really get to know her. She was my favorite character in the book.

The novel is about Annabelle Clad who we met briefly in the first book. An army veteran, and computer expert, she has been working in the background of Iron Clad Security for her brother, Josef and his best friend, Jax. Though she's great at IT, what she wants is to be back working in the field. If only her pigheaded brother would let her. Fortunately for Annie, the opportunity finally arises, when Hollywood actor Rocco Monroe is in need of a bodyguard when threats come pouring in with his new role in a controversial film about an infamous drug lord. The only catch is Rocco wants a bodyguard who can blend in, so he wants Annie to be his pretend girlfriend. What soon follows is a novel filled with banter, romance, danger, emotion, and heat.

I really enjoyed Last First Kiss. It was well-written, fast paced, and kept me interested from start to finish. I liked Rocco and Annie's chemistry and their scenes together were filled with fun banter as well as heart, especially as they got to know more about each other's pasts. Rocco is definitely nothing like Annie perceived him to be. Nothing like what she assumed a Hollywood actor would be. He was sweet though at times pigheaded particularly when it came to Annie doing her job, which was protecting him. I also loved Josef and Annie's relationship. Though they fight and disagree a lot, you can tell how strongly they care for one another. I hope we can see a book about Josef soon and find out more about him as well.

Overall, Last First Kiss by Sidney Halston was a great novel and very entertaining. I had fun reading it and very much recommend. I can't wait to read more by Ms. Halston.

I was expecting the second book of the series to be about Joey Clad, but it is about his sister Annabelle, "Annie". I can't complain as Annie is everything that I like to see in a contemporary romance heroine-well minus the swearing maybe. She is strong, independent, determined and knows what she wants. She may be an ex military police, but to her older brothers she is still their little sister. And Joey is determined to keep her behind the scenes and in the office of Iron Clad Security. But Annie wants more than just to solve algorithms and hack into accounts. She wants to be on the field. So when Hollywood heart throb Rocco Monroe wants her as his personal bodyguard, she jumps at the opportunity. She has to prove to everyone that she isn't the "kid" anymore.

Rocco Monroe needs to play something serious in order to get back on top. And the biopic of an infamous Colombian drug lord is just the role that he needs. However, this drug lord is more than just a criminal. In the eyes of many Colombians he is a hero and the last thing that they want is an American, Hollywood playboy to play the part. So when Rocco starts getting threats the studio insists that he needs a bodyguard. Rocco doesn't want some muscular meathead following him around all day. He is instantly drawn to the sexy blonde whom he meets at ICS. She is not only drop dead gorgeous but doesn't treat him like a star. In fact she seems like she wants nothing to do with him. But Rocco wants her to be his bodyguard so that she can blend in and seem like his girlfriend. And who knows, maybe fiction will become reality...

But with constant treats and an ex as a co-star, will Rocco and Annie find their Hollywood romance? Well this being a romance, we know that they will have their HEA, but on the way there are some very hot and steamy love scenes. Rocco is a true heart throb and if he were real, I believe that I would be his number one fan ;) can't wait to see who will capture Joey's heart!

Annabelle Clad grew up with 4 overprotective brothers who all went into various branches of the military including Joey who is half owner of Iron Clad Security with his best friend Jax. She went into the Army herself and became a decorated member of the military police, but her time overseas taught her about love and the devastation of heartbreak and pain. Now in her mid-20s, she is the office manager for ICS keeping Joey, Jax and their whole team in line while being a certified badass in her own right with both computer coding and combat skills. Now if she can just convince her uber-protective misogynistic pigheaded brother to give her a chance to put those skills to use in the field…

Rocco Monroe is an A-list Hollywood star but at 37 he needs to remain relevant and a box office draw if he doesn’t want to fade into the background. His latest movie, a biopic about a Colombian drug lord, is his chance to earn an Oscar nod and he is excited to take on the challenge, but outrage of the Colombian people is growing over an American portraying a man beloved by many there and threats against Rocco and the cast are starting to roll in. When the studio approaches ICS for protective services for Rocco, he is annoyed but his contract doesn’t give him the option of saying no to a bodyguard. When he walks through the door he doesn’t expect the gut punch he experiences when he spots the stunner sitting at the conference table.

Annie tries to be unaffected by the Hollywood royalty in the room, and it doesn’t take long before his attitude completely pisses her off. She lets her temper get the best of her to Joey and Jax’s mortification, but her fire only serves to seal the deal for Rocco: he wants her as his bodyguard and no one else. Things are about to get interesting! Rocco doesn’t really take the threats seriously, but if it means he gets to spend the next 4 months with a women who simultaneously turns him on and scares him with her willingness to run straight toward danger, he’ll take it. Now Annie just has to keep that giant wall she has built around her heart in place.

As a woman in a man’s world, she has to work twice as hard to be taken seriously, and although working with Rocco is a great opportunity, she feels like having to play his girlfriend just undermines her credibility. Growing up in a male dominated household didn’t help, and most of the time she defaults to tomboy or badass mode; she doesn’t really know how to do the girly-girl thing and it contributes to some of her insecurities. She goes into it with attitude and a chip on her shoulder, but it doesn’t take long to realize the image of the man in the media is not the real Rocco. He treats her with respect, he lives well below his means, and his charitable work that he purposely keeps out of the media spotlight is endearing. Slowly she lets her guard down and gives him rare insight into her mind that even her family isn’t allowed, and the slow burn builds to a crescendo. Giving in to temptation can mean loss of both her credibility and the job, but it gets harder and harder to say no.

In the meantime, incidents involving Rocco start to escalate and it becomes clear to her that the threat to his life should be taken seriously. Unfortunately his spoiled diva co-star whom he dated years ago is making life challenging despite the fact that she is now married- yeah, she’s a real piece of work. When Rocco and Annie finally decide to throw caution to the wind behind closed doors, that’s when I really fell for him. His heart is all in, he is a great mix of take charge, sweet and sexy, and she finally lets her mind shut down enough to let him take control for once. But outside the bedroom, Rocco doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge that the threat is real and he has a real issue with his caveman instincts when it comes to his woman protecting him despite his acknowledgment of her skills so Annie has her work cut out for her. Things get dicey before it is all resolved but of course it all works out in the end after a few scares and bumps in the road.

Last First Kiss was definitely an enjoyable read and a great addition to the series!

With a concept like this one it was easy to chose to pick up this book. ‘Last First Kiss’ by Sidney Halston had a bit of a twist on the movie star/bodyguard romance trope. It is not everyday that you see a book where the male is the star and the female is the bodyguard assigned to keep the male star safe. An intriguing 4 star read.

Determined to show that she is more than capable in her role as a bodyguard and that she can do it without being distracted Annabelle is on a mission. Regardless of the fact that her new client is every females fantasy she knows she cannot allow herself to be tempted by him.

Rocco’s new film project is controversial and he has to have a bodyguard assigned to him. It is not his choice but he needs this part more than the inconvenience he thinks this will causes him. However when he sees Annabelle and sees the fire in her he decides he wants her to be his bodyguard and maybe more.

This was an interesting take on quite a common romance trope. Getting to know more about the characters and their backgrounds definitely added to the connection you felt for them and how you viewed their actions. There is without a doubt sexual chemistry pulsating between these two but they both have so much to lose and also to prove.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and how it was written. Having not read anything by Sidney Halston before it certainly makes me want to read more from her and will looking to read books from her back catalogue.

4.5 stars

I really enjoyed Last First Kiss by Sidney Halston.
The storyline was entertaining, the characters were likable, fun, passionate and I enjoyed watching them come together.

Annabelle and Rocco were great together, they made me smile, they made me laugh, I swooned and I fell in love with them both.
This was a quick and easy read, the plot was well written and if it wasn't for Annabelle's overprotective brother driving me a little crazy I would have given it 5 stars.

Overall, Last First Kiss is a great read and a great addition to the Iron-Clad Security series. Each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

Five kick ass stars for this book and here's why.

The heroine is badd ass. She's fierce, she's sassy, independent and I definitely wouldn't want to get in her way. For the first time in a very long time this book to me was an amazing story that has a strong female that turns the tables on the male.

One could almost say she's very much the alpha in this story but without emasculating the hero.
Their very first encounter in this book told me that I would love it.

I also loved Rocco in this because he wasn't your typical cocky movie star. He was down to earth, humble not showing off his wealth and throwing it around like he's god gift.

These two were the perfect sort of pairing and seemed to not only respect each other but balance each other and embrace each other's strength's and weaknesses.

A great book and so far for me a really good series as I also enjoyed book 1 in this.
I am definitely looking forward to more. If you are looking for a romance with a strong and fierce heroine and a man who can accept and deal with a woman that can put him literally on his ass then I definitely recommend this.

Fantastic read from start to finish! Annie is a kickass heroine you can't help but love and Rocco is getting added to my ever growing book boyfriend list! Another fantastic addition to our favorite Iron Clad Security Series!

Annie’s struggling to make her brother see her as an equal in their security company. After all, she’s ex-military and has survived catastrophic conditions while serving her duty. Unfortunately, to her brothers she’s still just their baby sister. When the film company Rocco is contracted with demands he have a full time body guard due to threats and violence regarding his upcoming movie, a woman is the last thing he’s expecting. However, after Annie shows him what she’s made of and walks out, he refuses to settle for anyone but her.

This book has it all. Drama, angst, humor, mystery, suspense and romance sprinkled with plenty of heat. I loved everything about this story! The characters are well developed and even though I’m usually not a fan of the tough nitty gritty heroines, I really liked Annie. The role reversal between the usual protective hero and the needing to be protected heroine, was written well and was so unique and unexpected. This is not your typical alpha hero, but don’t count him out ladies. He’s absolutely certain of who and what he wants and he remains alpha to the very end.

If Annie’s brothers are this protective over her, I hope this author has plans to give them their own stories. I’ll be all over that!

I was so excited for this book!! Although I wasn’t sure at first how much I would like that the roles were reversed and that a woman was the bodyguard for a man. I don’t want to sound like a sexist because I do like to read about strong heroines but, call me old-fashioned, I'm still a woman that swoons over the strong guys protecting their women. And Rocco Monroe wasn't happy about needing a bodyguard either.
Anyway, I think the author did a fantastic job with this book, which I enjoyed a lot. Especially that she addressed the topic about how hard it was for women to prove themselves in a man’s world.

The Story:
Annabelle Clad loves to work on computers but it’s time to finally get a job out on the field. Convincing her brother that she sure is capable of protecting the next client is harder than she’d like. It has always been harder for her as a woman to prove herself in this man’s world but she’s stubborn and determined to show them that she’s not just a girl but a strong woman who can handle any tough situation. Though working for Rocco Monroe will have its own complications which she doesn’t expect as she knew not to mix work with pleasure no matter how hot or famous he was.

Thoughts:
Joey was Annie’s overprotective brother but I get where he came from considering her history. Although I felt bad that Annie constantly had to prove herself, I understood why Joey was worried about her.

I liked the background story of Annie and also of Rocco although it felt very distant for what surely were very emotional and sensitive pasts.

Rocco wasn’t easy to characterize because he was a famous actor and as usual the tabloids never told stories as they really occurred. So, he was judged on stuff that was exaggerated or never even happened. He was nicer than I expected and not at all snobbish. I wasn’t so sure how I liked that he was instantly fixated on Annie but I get that she was hot and he was drawn to her.

Even though there was instant chemistry between the two main characters, it took some time for them to explore it, which I liked a lot because nothing ruins a story more than for the people to get it done and over with in the first chapter already.
But while it wasn’t instant-love they still got attached to each other too sudden for my liking. I just didn’t feel it coming, partly because I never got emotionally close to the characters and their story which was a pity because I liked them but I just never felt their feelings grow for each other and it was hard to comprehend what was going on inside them.

Anyway, it still wasn’t at all easy for them emotionally because their line of work just wasn’t that compatible and as hard it was for her to open up and relax, it was equally hard for him to see her stand between him and any danger coming his way.

What I loved most were the sort-of articles at the beginning of every chapter. It gave a better understanding on what happened outside of the characters bubble without interrupting their story with throwing information into the pages at random. It was just so fitting and I loved how it was done.

The ending felt a bit too abrupt but all in all I absolutely enjoyed this read! It was mostly an easy and quick read (probably because I wasn’t as emotionally invested as I often was) but also had some heavier topics regarding Annie’s story. The characters were all loveable and the heightened suspense farther into the story didn’t let me put the book down. An absolutely recommended read!

3.5 stars-- LAST FIRST KISS is the second instalment in Sidney Halston’s contemporary, adult IRON CLAD SECURITY romantic, suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Iron Clad Security. This is Hollywood actor Rocco Monroe, and former US soldier/IT specialist Annabelle Clad’s story line. LAST FIRST KISS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Annabelle and Rocco) LAST FIRST KISS follows the forbidden relationship between former American solider and IT specialist Annabelle Clad, and Hollywood actor Rocco Monroe. Rocco Monroe’s star has started for fizzle but a role in an upcoming controversial bio-pic finds our hero on the receiving end of a series of threats both personal and professionally including the potential fall-out of filming on location in the jungles of South America. When the production company forces Rocco to accept tightened security measures he will come face to face with a smart-mouthed, prickly, and over the top, alpha female Annabelle Clad-a former US soldier who served two tours in Afghanistan, and a woman who is desperate to prove she is just as capable as the men with whom she works. What ensues is the building relationship between Annabelle and Rocco as Annabelle is hired to play Rocco’s newest love, and the fall out as Annabelle continues to put her life in danger to protect the man with whom she is falling in love.

Annabelle Clad is just trying to do her job but it is in Rocco’s instinctive nature to protect the woman hired to protect himself. Our heroine has proven she can survive the mean streets of Afghanistan but surviving the over protective nature of Rocco and her brothers is less than conducive to our heroine’s independent charm. Rocco’s life hangs in the balance when the threats become physical, and Annabelle will become collateral damage for someone elses sins of the past.

The relationship between Annabelle and Rocco begins as a mutual attraction but Anna knows to get involved with a client would be a distraction when lives have been threatened by an unknown source. The allure of a female bodyguard has Rocco reconsidering his need for protection replacing it with the possibility of a romantic happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

From the outset I had issues with the heroine’s immature attitude and her ongoing childish interplay and emotional behavior as it pertained to her brothers and their need to protect and control. Wanting to be accepted as an equal Annabelle’s temper tantrums and the sibling’s adolescent conduct diminished my enjoyment of the overall story as each encounter with her brother resulted in juvenile name-calling, screaming matches and rude finger gestures. This does not scream responsible adult but spoiled child. The men in her life, including Rocco Monroe, were constantly second guessing Anna’s ability to do the job-surviving two tours of duty made little difference in the grand scheme of security and personal independence but her immaturity could have played a role in her brother’s unwillingness to hand over complete control.

LAST FIRST KISS is an energetic and lively story line. The premise is entertaining; the characters are somewhat infuriating; the romance is tender and optimistic.

This was the first book I'd read by Sidney Halston. I'm participating in the release day blog tour. Thanks to NetGalley, Sidney Halston and St Martin's Swerve for my ARC. I liked Annie from the start. She's feisty and wants to be independent, not stuck at a desk job in the family security business. There's plenty of teasing going on between her and her siblings, both of whom are men. She has military training and can take a man down as much with her strong character and choice of words as with her physical strength.
When film star Rocco approaches the company, she is only too glad to help. Rocco feels like he doesn't want a bodyguard, but Annie sees he needs protecting, given who he is and his job. Being a typical man, Rocco is captivated by Annie's physical appearance.
Last First Kiss is very sensual and fast-paced. The characters are realistic. I'd like to read the first book in the series.

3-3.5 stars.

I'd liked to have read the first book in the series to get some more background, but Last First Kiss was easy enough to follow. I did expect more of a story outside Rocco and Annie's lives/ relationship though,
although I'm not sure what direction the plot would have taken then.

The news snippets at the beginning of each chapter were an interesting compliment to the plot which was intense at times..

Sidney Halston has a fantastic way of writing so that, between the characters and the story, you are hooked from the start to the very finish of her book. It's a must read and a fantastic story. Really love this author books and this is one of them. Would recommend

I loved LAST FIRST KISS! Such a fun read. Annie made me laugh out loud and Rocco was adorable. I thought I would just read a few chapters but couldn't put it down until I had to leave to a family bbq. when I woke up in the middle of the night, I couldn't fall back asleep without knowing how their story ended so I pulled out my Kindle and finished it at 5am. this was my first Sidney Halston book & her writing is so fluid and her characters incredibly real. loved it!!!!

3 Stars- This has all the makings of a different take on the "BodyGuard" theme. Our gal is the one protecting the big burly manly man movie star. She has to continually prove herself... and that can be trying... but finally the star sees the writing on the wall... Not only is she strong capable smart and knows how to handle things... He also is lost without her.

Rocco hires Annie to be his bodyguard because his movie studio forces him to ER a bodyguard. Why her? Because she's hot and she flipped him over his shoulder to land him on his back on the concrete floor. So yeah, she's hot plus she kicked his butt. And the extra benefit is Annie can pretend to be his girlfriend and the public will never know that she is there to keep him safe.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable story. There are a few uneven edges but I could easily overlook those spots in favor of the action in the story.

Sidney Halston is an author to watch.

***4 ‘Tiger’ Stars***

I really enjoyed everything about Kiss Marry Kill from the writing style to the characters to how everything played out and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next in the series. So it’s no surprise that I jumped at the chance to read Last First Kiss, especially when I saw that we’d get to read about a female bodyguard mixing it up. And just as with the first book, I was hooked right from the start and it was all kinds of sweet, smexy and even heartbreaking at times, but lemme tell you there were also many moments of me wanting to do bodily harm to some of the characters, but all of this kept me turning the pages to see how everything would work itself out in the end.

I loved Annie, our kickass body guard. She’s motivated, intelligent, sassy and not afraid to mix it up with the guys, especially when those guys are her brothers. She’s been to hell and back and survived, but the experience left her with scars that caused her build an almost impenetrable fortress around herself. And though she can be a bit harsh and appear to have a chip on her shoulder, it’s only because she wants to be looked at as being capable, which she is, instead of being treated with kid gloves.

I had a bit of a time with Rocco, but overall loved the man. Despite his A-list status, he isn’t a Diva. He can appear that way, but at heart he’s still the same person he was before he was discovered. He’s charming, sincere, compassionate and has a good heart, and along with that heart comes the need to protect and take care of those he calls his own.

Annie and Rocco gave me a good dose of whiplash at the start of their relationship, but with all that was going on between them and around Rocco, it was to be expected. But I really enjoyed watching as trust was built between them and how they were behind closed doors. My patience was tested though when they stepped out in public, let’s just say I was totally #TeamAnnie and that Rocco was not the only person I wanted to do bodily harm to. But, again that tension was to be expected. With all the bumps in their road, when the BIG one came it wasn’t a total surprise and though I expected/wanted a lot more grovelling than there was, I was pleased with how everything worked out.

This was a fun, quick read and I thought the suspense element was very well done. The author kept things simple but interesting enough to hold my interest to see how everything would unfold. The secondary characters were all well written, I wouldn’t mind a book on Paul and I’m hoping Ben get’s his own down the road, though it was Joey who garnered most of my attention, but not all of it was for good reasons even if I could understand his reasons behind his actions. But that being said, I am curious about him and can’t wait to see who the next book will be about!

Annabelle Clad, former Army cop and current bodyguard, takes her job seriously. Pretty hard to do when her client is a very sexy actor and she hasn't been romantically involved in awhile. Rocco doesn't take threats to his movie seriously and thinks it's a stunt. The two pretend to be having a relationship while she guards him but it's obvious that doesn't last. Halston twisted things around a bit and made Annie the alpha, although Rocco kept trying to be her alpha, and it was a nice change. The sibling bickering throughout, between Annie and her brother, was quite funny but immature for a quality protection agency. This is the second book but not necessary to read the first to enjoy this one. I received my copy from Netgalley and wrote my review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed this one. It was nice to see a strong capable woman in a bodyguard role even if
Annie is a little over the top at times. Rocco was great. Hollywood A-lister trying to branch out and do a serious but he's receiving some backlash in the form of threats against him. Therefore, the studio is requiring him to hire a bodyguard. He's not too happy at first but once he gets a taste of Annie's talents he's all in! Fighting the attraction between them may be difficult but they can do it. Right???

I highly recommend this one.
