Very good start of a new character. The story is a modern take of a teen Modesty Blaise who has a bone to pick with the Nazis trying to make a nuclear bomb. Great character with just a enough of a back story to give her depth and grit.
I couldn't get into this one from the beginning and stopped after the first chapter. I felt disconnected from the third person point of view and the synopsis of the book is misleading once you start.
Great story line. But I can not recommend this book becase of the ending.
I had high hopes for this read but they fell short. The writing was interesting but kind of choppy. The story went from kind of mean girl like to a creepy attempted rape story. While I didn't see that coming it was a huge disappointment. With that added in I can't use this book at me highs during book talks. I know my teens are looking for good historical fiction stories , especially world war two books, it's sad that this isn't really one I can give to the younger crowd. I also wasn't a fan of the flash back chunks that Sarah went through. If the author wanted that story told I think it would have been better as the beginning of the book. Flashing back created too much of a distraction from what was going on currently in the story.
This book definitely gave a different perspective of World War II. A jewish girl pretending not to be and heading into the lion's den of Nazi children kept the suspense up throughout the book.
Loved the take on the subject matter. It took on a very rough topic and brings up a lot of feelings.
