Jason Smith expounds the notion of using three buckets for your money to mitigate risks and to have enough money for different scenarios. This is the same philosophy as Scott Pape aka the Barefoot Investor.(buckets have different names). Overall the book is okay with lots of common sense and decent examples but I found it dry.and at times hard to read.

The Bucket Plan doesn't seem to be anything new. Essentially, it boils down to a "now" bucket, a "soon" bucket and a "later" bucket. I didn't enjoy the storytelling format of the book. I prefer to not have lengthy story-telling examples. The content in the book seems to be a person just starting to begin retirement savings, but the couple in the book is one just about to enter retirement. It seems to miss the target audience.

I received a copy of this via Net Galley.
