Funny and entertaining. A book recommended for the holiday time.
Cute story about broadway at Christmas time, was a fun light read, nice way to get into the holiday spirit!
A cozy book to curl up with on a cold winter's night. Or, perfect for those warm summer nights when you're fantasizing about the holidays coming up. This is a good book for any fiction reader. It wasn't particularly my cup of tea, simply because I couldn't get into it at first. It took me a while to really dive in, but the ending made up for the tedious beginning, further proving that good things come to those who wait.
Cute story set at Christmas time in Manhattan. If you like comedy with a bit of mayhem, then this may be a fit for you.
This was a easy read for hectic days. Meaning that it would be the perfect read in the months leading up to Christmas. It is sometimes funny and charming, and mostly heartwarming. Saying that, it does not require a lot from the reader. The language is easy, and flow naturally, more like a dialog than a book.
I miss the depth in the book, feelings of the characters, a painted environment and growing characters. I had fun reading it, until the ghost of Christmas chapter. This theme works good in Dickens story, but not that many other places. It annoyed me more than it helped the story, and I belive the book would have been better without this aspect. Waking up and having a change of heart is very normal, and would work better with a character like Franklin.
All in all, I could read this book when I was tires from the Christmas preparations, but not at any other time.
Meh.
It's okay. A little bit daft, but a light read and frothy fun definitely has its place in this world!
There are a couple of hiccups with the plot, which should have been picked up by the editor, but they don't interrupt the plot so not an issue.
Overall, you can see exactly what this author set out to do - to entertain and to make you happy - and he doesn't fail. I wouldn't read another by the same chap though.
Not my usual choice of books to read, but it was entertaining! I think it may make someone's holiday book to read list.
Christmas Is, is a huge New York production that’s cancelled after the main star injures herself and it’s down to talent agent Franklin to save the show. Franklin embarks upon a personal journey, to save the performance (and himself), in a true Christmas Carol caper.
This book was different to anything I’ve ever read before which is great. There was plenty of action and drama on this festive rollercoaster and plenty of added humour.
I did enjoy the book, but that said, I would have liked a little more atmospheric setting and some emotion from the characters. I thought it read like a film (or a screenplay turned into prose) and that’s because it was very audio / visual in the sense that the characters, action and dialogue were really well developed. I think with the added emotion / atmosphere and a bit more scene setting – it would have been perfect. The ‘fluffy stuff’ is my personal preference though and I think this book will definitely appeal.
