I think it’s every girl’s dream to meet a rockstar and fall madly in love. At least it was one of mine. Lol! I think Lucas was the perfect rockstar. Edgy. Vulnerable. Abby had a say it like she sees it kind of vibe which appealed to Lucas. They had explosive chemistry which lead to some really erotic scenes. Not for the faint of heart. I’m still fanning myself. This was a good story with great characters.
I was really excited to read this book and maybe that's why I was a bit disappointed. Or maybe it was because I had just finished reading an awesome book before this, but the characters just didn't do it for me. Honestly, I really didn't "like" them that much and I really disliked Danica -- with a best friend like that you don't need enemies. I just couldn't connect with Lucas or Abby. If you like rock star romances where the rock star is arrogant and thinks he more than he actually is, this may be the book for you -- it's well written, just not my cup of tea.
Misadventures on the Night Shift (Misadventures #6) by Lauren Rowe
4.5 stars!!!
“One day you’ll figure out how to be you out there in the real world and not just with me. And that’s when you’ll conquer the world.”
I absolutely adore Lauren Rowe, she is one of those authors that has the knack of delivering incredibly hot, heart-felt romances all the while having you in stitches with her trademark wit. This authors sense of humour is fantastic and never fails to give me a smile from ear to ear. Misadventures on the Night Shift is a book I went into blind, I didn’t know what to expect, but loved what I got. Rockstar romance with a little hate/love thrown in for good measure.
“So this is what unrequited love feels like, huh? No wonder there are so many songs written about it. It’s torture.”
Abby is a law student by day and a hotel receptionist by night. Her job suits her fine as she manages to go to classes and with the night shift being dead, she can study at night too. Win, win situation as it pays the bills. Abby comes across in the first instance as conservative and quiet, but that is the “new” Abby. Abby had a past that she was keen to forget and never wanted to repeat, however, one late night check-in is her biggest test to date.
Lucas Ford is the lead singer of one of the biggest boy bands. A band that Abby has followed for years and a lead singer that has been the main focus of her dreams and fantasies ever since. Lucas has had a mini breakdown; the record companies are stifling his creativity and have basically held him to ransom until he produces the music they want. They have holed him up in the hotel for a week so that he can write. But how can you write something you don’t want to?
Abby and Lucas do not hit it off and the initial tension and the barbs that fly between these two had my head going back and forth, like watching a tennis match. With illusions shattered Abby tries to avoid Lucas like the plague, but since his sparring matches with her, it seems he becomes inspired and Lucas is not letting his muse escape.
“Happy people write happy songs, I guess… And miserable people make art.”
I loved that both these characters had a past and both were fighting their own demons. Their commonality and their love of music brought these two together and I did feel that their pairing was inspired. I felt sorry for Abby insofar as she felt the need to suppress her true self, however, was grateful that Lucas made the real Abby stand up.
As I said, this book was extremely hot in places, adorable characters and a selfless hero that despite the persona he portrays was nothing like the man inside. Lucas was a stunning hero that captivated me from the very start. Another great read from Lauren Rowe.
Off the charts sexy, smoking hot scandalous, emotional thrill ride that keeps you reading all night long....
Abby Medford is sweet, sassy, sexy and working nights as a hotel clerk to pay for a law degree that she really doesn't want. Bad-boy-rocker Lucas Ford is smoking hot, arrogant, funny, surprisingly sweet and in creative hell chained to a record label that hates him. He also happens to be Abby's teenage wet dream come to life! Loved every moment of this thrilling romantic night shift adventure.
Fair warning…
You'll be sporting a permanent blush after reading this book, and most likely dealing with some other unmentionable side effects to boot.
Every teenage girl has the fantasy of meeting their music idol, the one whose poster adorned her walls, and Lauren Rowe brings that fantasy to life with a very grown up twist.
I loved this story. It's so easy to have a love/hate relationship with both these characters. Lucas is just...wow. The ultimate bad boy with a good heart is my weakness and Lucas fits the bill. Abby is definitely more than meets the eye. It’s almost like she’s two different people rolled into one. She’s got this squeaky-clean facade but on the inside she’s got kinks you’d never expect. Separately they are both a bit broken, but together they burn up the pages.
This book is witty, dirty, and pulls at your heartstrings all at the same time.
A highly recommended read!
Who doesn’t love a Rock Star? Who doesn’t need a muse? Who can combine the two and write one of the sexiest books on the market? Lauren Rowe!
Saying I liked Misadventures on the Nightshift would be an understatement. I absolutely loved it! I never expected this story to trigger as many emotions as it did. But it did. I felt joy and pain, sadness and laughter, cheering and gloom. Isn’t that what a good book does? Give you all the feels? And sometimes you can even find a bit of yourself in the characters. And yes, I found a bit of myself in the heroine.
Lucas seems to have lost his flow, and Abby seems to have settled in a life that she does not want. But sometimes, if we are lucky enough two negatives can make a positive.
There is more to this story than sex, or a woman and man “hooking” up. This story is about discovering one’s self, growth, and finding love when you don’t expect it. It is about overcoming fear, standing on your own, and cleaning up your demons. It is about things not always being what they seem, and never judging a book by its cover. It is about how we see ourselves, and what others see in us.
So yes, this books has sex and a great deal of it. Yes, it is hot as hell. Yes, it can make you squirm, but more than anything this book is about several aspects of love, and the discovery of them all! Just great!
I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review and I have to say I couldn't put this one down! What a fun fun read! I truly enjoyed this newest addition to the Misadventure Series. Lucas was what we all want in our fictional boyfriends…hot, dominate and hot. Did I say hot? Funny sassy Abby was the perfect match for him. I’m a new ready to Lauren Rowe and I am hooked!
I'm speechless! I kept seeing advanced reviews and how everyone was blown away. I was blown away! The total hotness and honesty of this book was spellbinding. And the gripping sadness towards the end had me balling. Such creative writing from this author, as always. As many books as I read, and as many book boyfriends I discover, I will say with absolute authority that Lucas is in my top 5. And Abby, too. I loved that they were freaky and owned it. Well, Abby in due time. I loved the message this book delivered: it's ok to be different. However your different is defined. Don't let anyone hold you back because of it. A truly wonderful, heartfelt, (yes, I believe it's was heartfelt), smoking romance!
5 Dirty Hot Stars!!!
Lauren Rowe, GURL you KILLED this book, in the BEST possible way!! Now with that out of the way. Ladies & Gents… we’re going to have real talk about Misadventures on the Night Shift, so pull up a chair. I know I’ve said you HAVE to read this book a bunch of time this year but DAMN!! This is a total MUST read but make sure you aren’t reading while around people, unless it’s a spouse, or significant other. You may find yourself blushing, breaking out into sweats and possibly a little turned out and laughing out loud.
Misadventures on the Night Shift was a dirty, hot, steamy, erotic read with an amazing story. I just couldn’t put this book down and felt a little depressed when it ended. I’m hoping there is a possible follow-up because good lord! Can I run out and get a job at a hotel working the night shift?
Abby Medford is a law student who is working the night shift at the Rockford Hotel. One night while working in walks Lucas Ford. Lucas Ford...man oh man… Just imagine your favorite musician back in the day, the one who’s posters and pictures you had all over your walls… yes that’s Lucas Ford.
Anyway he’s checking into the Rockford’s penthouse so that he can write his next biggest hit. He hasn’t been able to come up with any material, that is until he gets his butt verbally handed to him by feisty little Abby.
During Lucas’s week long stay at the Rockford the bond between him and Abby blossoms to off the charts proportions. However will Lucas be able to complete his task of writing hit songs or will he continue to have writers block? READ. READ. READ Honey!!
This book is so awful it made Misadventures with a Super Hero seem like a masterpiece. If someone finds a way to make me forget this book I would give him anything he wants. Shall I start with Danika? She is Abby's co-worker and she does nothing by insult Abby. Do you know what Abby does? Nothing and instead she gives her money to aid her. Why would anyone do that? Danika deserved a slap, not 13k dollars. Next is Lucas who has a brilliant plan. In order to write a great single, he wants Abby to sleep with his drummer in order to re-live the past and the events that made him write his most famous song. And of course, Abby agrees. So look forward to the threesome that's included in this book. Honestly, I don't know why Abby and Lucas were together. Neither treated the other person right and they were both in the beginning unlikable. Then we have two-time jumps. The first happening 9 months after Abby leaves Lucas and is just before she meets the man she will have a no strings attached thing. She listens to Luca's song and jumps into another man's bed.She sure keeps wondering when he is going to make his move, but I didn;t see her doing something to reach him. I loved that part of the story. Did we really had to know about that? It contributed nothing to the story and it just made me like Abby less. I am not sure what Lucas did the 1.5 years they weren't together, but after reading about Abby's fling I stopped caring about the book. This is not romance. This is pure smut. Lucas did almost nothing to win her over during the time they were separated, but at least he tried to make some moves to show her that he cared. Abby could have done something, like writing on her blog about her love for him, but she had other people to do. Even the twilight haters will say that Twilight is a better love story than this...
P..S This is the 8th book I have marked as a book I hate on GR and I have read almost 2900 books. This should tell you something
Mixed feelings about this book. First off, I hated Danica. She's extremely offensive to Abby but she just lies down and takes it. While the book was sexy, there wasn't anything to make it memorable for me. I never really felt the connection between Abby and Lucas. It felt more like he was using her while she was falling in love with him. I think a few chapters from his perspective may have helped with that connection. The whole story just kind of seemed unrealistic to me and didn't give me the feels.
So let’s talk about how much I loved Misadventures on the Night Shift by Lauren Rowe. This book was engrossing, it was unputdownable, and it was a book that I loved every single word of! This book owned me from start to finish. It owned me through every word, through every page, and through every heated and visceral moment that I got within it. What Lauren Rowe so exceptionally created in this book made me blush, made me feel it all with Lucas and Abby, and had me just basking in every single word that I got with them.
Lauren Rowe completely gave me it all in this book. She gave me a rock star romance that coupled music and heat and fire and a vibrancy that was practically tangible in this book. She gave me a story that took ahold of me in every way possible, and became something I NEEDED in my life. She created characters that were dynamic, enjoyable, real and relatable, yet every fantasy you need all in one. She created a book that blew me away at every turn, and I literally do not have enough words to describe how much I loved it and how much I enjoyed it.
Misadventures on the Night Shift follows Abby as she comes face to face with the living legend, Lucas Ford. He was her teenage heartthrob and crush, a rock star god who she can’t help but be star struck by, and now he’s got a proposition for her that she knows she should say no to, yet she can’t help but want to scream yes to. This book follows Abby and Lucas over their week in Penthouse A, as he tried to write the album of his life, as she tries to figure out if she can keep up in the game they’re playing, and as they both discover that what might’ve started as a little bit of heated fun, is so much more than they bargained for.
Lauren Rowe made Abby and Lucas’s characters so easy to love and connect to. They were both real and vibrant, and I loved that even thought this is a novella, I got so much development and story with both of their characters. I saw them grow and evolve and change. I got to be there with them through the highs and lows, through all the fire they shared, and through the moments that almost broke them. I got it all with them, and that is just part of what made me love and adore their characters so much!
This book was all kinds of fun, it was all kinds of colorful and vibrant, and it had this tangible heat and spark through every page of it that brought every word of what I was reading to life in the most exceptional way! Lauren Rowe’s writing was a complete delight, and this book has me all the more eager to read more of her books and to get more of her fabulous writing. I need more of her words in my life!
Misadventures on the Night Shift was a fun, enjoyable, and seriously heated read which delivered it all! This book was the perfect quick read that gave me two characters with an off the charts level of chemistry, a connection that just wouldn’t quit, and a story that I could not put down from start to finish. I loved every word of it, and I cannot recommend it enough!
This was a fanfreakingtastic book and you will love it! Trust. Me. Lucas and Abby will give you it all and then some, and you will be beyond satisfied with it all!
This book surprised me. At first I wasn't a big fan of Abby. Just something about her, maybe her thinking she's such a misfit, bothered me. Lucus was just got from the beginning. As they start to explore their crazy "relationship" her vulnerability gets you to like her. So far, this is my favorite in the series.
5 Teenage Fantasies Come True Stars!!!
I've read all the Misadventures books to date, and I've also read all of Ms. Rowe's books too. And Misadventures on the Night Shift has moved into my Top 3 favorite books by this amazing author!
Lucas Ford is a rock star that is suffering from serious writer's block and when he has a meltdown on stage, everyone in the world sees it. Including Abby Medford, the Night Shift registration clerk at a local upscale hotel where Lucas suddenly shows up at... imagine her shock and surprise when her teenage fantasy is standing in front of her! I absolutely LOVED how she didn't take any of his "I'm a rock star attitude."
Abby is a woman that has had some trying years in her past and watching her stand her ground, give this man that she's thought about a LOT over the years and used him in her mind for all sorts of dreams, had me giving her a fist pump in solidarity. For Lucas' part, I laughed out loud at how he tried to sweet talk this woman that's getting back on her feet, has some serious goals and isn't going to let anyone or anything get in her way...not even Lucas FREAKING Ford!!
"This guy has been my sexual fantasy for as long as I can remember. He's my Desert Island Fantasy, for crying out loud."
This book moves at a pace that is perfect for this couple. There's some serious negotiating going on between them when Lucas brings to Abby an offer she almost can't resist. Imagine finally making her dreams come true but what's really at stake if she accepts what Lucas is offering? More importantly, how does this offer make her feel?...
"I've loved him since I was fifteen. I want him because he's beautiful and a genius and the sexiest man alive. I admit it. I want him, even like this, because I'm secretly a dirty little thing."
That right there marks the change for both our H/h. No matter how they sliced it, this deal will forever change both of them. And in my opinion, it was one of the best things to happen to either of them. Oh and when they get "busy," holy moly wowza!! These two are so dirty and hot and explosive. And there's no lack of laughs in this book either. I almost flew off the stairmaster at a certain point thanks to one of the many one-liners that Ms. Rowe is fabulous at delivering in her books.
As I fell more and more in love with this book while watching our H/h change for the better, because sometimes you need to find the person that believes in what you're capable of being and doing. Both Abby and Lucas so desperately need that. Their lives up to this point have been a whirlwind of frustrations and in some cases disappointments so to finding someone that could potentially be the love of their lives, is so much more than what either signed on for.
I honestly sat with my mouth open towards the end of this book, saying to myself..."no he didn't!" I can't tell you why I was thinking this cuz that would give too much away. Let's just say, this book is so much more than what I thought it was going to be especially with all that transpired with our H/h.
Ms. Rowe has written the perfect book in so many ways. It's funny, heartwarming, sarcastic, hot, off the charts sexy and has a romance that no one expected to happen. And it's a ten in my book!!!

This is the first book I have read from Lauren Rowe and this will not be my last. If you are looking for a hot, sexy, chemistry off the charts, hot as hell erotic read then this is the book for you and it will without a doubt have you begging for more. I couldn't put this book down and neither will you so definitely grab this book and enjoy the sultry salacious ride.
When smart-mouthed Abby Medford comes face to face with her rock star idol, Lucas Ford, the games begin. What results is a story of sex, humor, and somehow Lucas give Abby something she needs, confidence in herself. A cute story with a reader beware of lots of seamy scenes. Lauren Rowe has written a great misadventures story for the series.
#classysmut people ... just how i like it ... this is perfection! Perfection because it delivered a scorching hot read that didn't make my eyes roll LOL It's a smut read for sure, but with emotion and heart!
I just can't stop the smile that forms on my face every time one of these books comes up for review! This series has really delivered excellent short(ish) stories every single time. It is really difficult to write short/novella stories that isn't rushed into a happy ending. These authors have all delivered nicely! I am having the greatest time with this series!
Lauren Rowe is a new to me author but I can already tell from her back-list that there are quite a few books I'll be reading by her. If this story is any indication, I can't imagine how well she does with a full-length novel! I CANNOT WAIT!

Dear lord check me in for the night shift with Lucas Ford, that man will melt your kindle and your heart.
If you took away the the author name from this book by 10% you would know with out a doubt it’s a Lauren Rowe Book, it will have you laughing hard and swooning your way through the heat that radiates of he pages. Another amazing read and a misadventure that I would love to take.
Misadventures on the Night Shift is the 6th installment in the Misadventures series. I've read Lauren Rowe in the past so I was definitely going to read this book. While I have enjoyed Lauren Rowe novels in the past, this one wasn't my favorite. I liked it but I didn't love it. The storyline just did not grab me. It felt rushed. The story revolves around hotel clerk and law student Abby. On the night shift at the hotel where she works, she encounters the rockstar that starred in all of her teenage fantasies, Lucas. Lucas checks into the hotel to begin songwriting work on his next album. Abby then begins visiting his room on the night shift, thus providing the inspiration Lucas needs. While the story was very steamy, I just couldn't get completely invested. Overall, it was good, just not great.
This is the sixth book of this epic series Misadventure. I have not read anything from this author yet but now I am a fan. I could not put this book down. These characters drew me in immediately and you can't help falling in love with them. I devoured this incredible read in one sitting.
Abby Medford is a hotel clerk that works the night shift. This is the perfect shift for her to study law. She thinks that this job is boring until her rockstar crush checks in one night. Abby is known to be the quiet girl but she is anything but quiet. She gets so excited that Lucas Ford is truly there but she quickly realizes that he is not who she thought he was. He is the total opposite. Abby finds him to be very rude and arrogant. She gets to spend some time with him and everything changes. Will Abby fall for the rockstar or will she realize that it is just a fantasy?
Lucas Ford is a very hot and popular rockstar. He always gets what he wants including the women. Lucas checks into a quiet hotel to get away from a bad night. He then runs into the sassy Abby. They have an argument that makes him think about his life a little bit more. Lucas knew right away that Abby is special. Will this rockstar fall for the girl next door or will his life be too much for her?
I loved this book. This story has it all hot romance, struggles, and forgiveness. The storyline will have you hooked all the way until the end. You will fall in love with the characters. Abby is the pretty girl that everyone loves. She also has some sas that I loved and made me laugh. I love how she gave this rockstar a run for his money. Lucas is the hot rockstar that everyone wants but he wants more. In the beginning he is very arrogant but then Abby finds the real Lucas. These characters have very hot chemistry that will make you weak in the knees. They are also very raw and real. This book had me laughing and it also brought tears to my eyes. The ending will leave you in complete shock. Lauren wrote the perfect book to this epic series. I can't wait to read the next adventure.
