I was unable to review this book because of a conflict in my schedule. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused the publisher or the author of the work. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review for you and I look forward to reviewing for you in the future.
Ok firstly I would like to ask why ws this book in the LGBTQIA Section on Netgally. Secondly wow I have never not finished a book in my life until now. The characters have absolutely no chemistry and lets be honest Xan just creeped me out. I am really sorry I gave it 1.5 stars rounded up tp two but maybe I am being too generous. DNF.

This story was a little difficult for me to get into. The character names were a bit of a turn off to start with and then the relationship was a bit iffy for me to understand and to like. Our female photographer James wasn't the most likeable of characters but passable. Xan our male model should have stood out more as a strong male character but there was just something about him that made me hold back in my feelings toward him as the hero. The writing was good. The story line had promise. Overall a passable read.
I'm not sure why this book is in the LGBT section but apart from that the characters have no chemistry and Xan is a creepy character. The whole book is kind of strange.
I try to finish the books I get, but this one was way too boring,
I didn't like the characters, I didn't connected with them, I didn't believe the story either.... I expected so much more from the blurb!
Sorry, it wasn't made for me... or I wasn't made for the book...
Since this review is negative, I won't share it outside of NG.
Thank you.

Wow, the cover of this book does NOT match the contents - nor does the blurb.
James Lynwood is a photographer (female), she is curvy, if not plus-sized, and shoots covers for romance novels. She is crushing big time on one of her models, Alexander Quinoñez and becomes a gibbering wreck every time they meet. She feels particularly exposed because female photographers can't afford to have relationships with their models in the same way as male photographers can, and do.
Xan is intrigued by the beautiful but aloof photographer and is jeopardising his modelling career by continuing to model for the covers of romance novels. When he overhears that James needs a date to a wedding he offers his services.
What I was looking for was a fake relationship, wedding-themed romance between two people who had been crushing on each other. What I got was a snapshot of a weird life in which everyone's sexuality is fluid and everyone spends all day every day thinking out loud to themselves. When the biggest plot advance happened 'off'stage' I knew it was time to bail.
I think the publisher needs to rethink the cover and the blurb so that readers aren't blindsided.
This book was okay. I was a little confused about the sexuality of the characters though. The main female James was talking about a female hookup in the beginning of the book and the main male Xan was discussing a male relationship he had had in the past. It seemed that all of their friends were bisexual as well. I know I'm not from LA, but it just seemed odd that almost all of the characters in this story were either bisexual or gay. I also think that the bit about when the relationship comes out in the press is a bit over the top. I cannot imagine that that many people would be up in arms about an of age photographer and of age model having a relationship. The writing was okay, but the characters just seemed too immature for me. I did finish the book though! So there is that!! Lately I have had a hard time finishing them.
This story was a bit different than anything I had read before, alot of the characters seemed to be bi- sexual and openly friendly with people they had relationships with, no real conflict. I guess cause it's not my life style I found it hard to relate too. I loved Alexander and James they were so cute, especially when they were trying to figure out if they liked one another. This was a very cute well written quick read.
DNF @55%. Nothing happened. Same thoughts and feelings repeated over and over. Oh I can't be with a model but I like him. Okay, I want you, oh wait, now stop. For over half of the book.
I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars. I love reading, and I absolutely love when I come across a author that I have not had the chance to read before. I can honestly say that this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster; one minute I was laughing, next worried, back to laughing, even some sad moments. Through every twist of the ride there was one thing that I knew for sure...... I didn't want to get off until the final page. I am in love with this author and I am looking forward to reading everyone of her novels. Thank you NetGalley and Jen Stevens for the honor and opportunity to read this novel.
