This is a simple story, in fact it could have been a short story based in the simplicity of the plot and the fact that the author has been repeating over and over the same sex scene, yes, one sex scene appearing every chapter, even several times by chapter. Adding to that, the author keep telling us along the book that the two main characters are getting to know each other but not any dialogue between them have two meaningful sentences. I would have liked to read this growing relationship more thoroughly. In addition, both women are culturally trained, one of them is a college professor, and their vocabulary is at least juvenile. Conclusively, a rather useless book.

I was unable to review this book because of a conflict in my schedule. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused the publisher or the author of the work. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review for you and I look forward to reviewing for you in the future.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I tried, I did, halfway through and I stopped. I ended up skimming the rest of the book. The first fourth of the book was constant sex scenes with a multitude of people, every single page. Once Crockett and Gina got together, their entire relationship was more sex. There was no character development no story. I would not recommend this book.

Not really sure what to say about this book. I actually really enjoyed Williamz's previous books so I felt a little bad about not liking this one. But to be honest I struggled to finish it.

Now I hear you all saying well what's wrong with it? It is just badly written, I am hoping this was an off day. Sentences which are barely there. The story was non existent. I guess if you really like sex then give this a go there is a lot.

Sorry can't write any more. Williamz is a good author I'm hoping this is a hiccup.

I must confess that one of the things that drew me in when it came to this book was the synopsis. The few novels I have read with an erotica theme have all consisted of a compilation of short stories, and knowing this book was both a romance/erotica novel was what ended up selling it for me.

This book moved too fast for my liking, there was no chemistry when it came to the main characters and the sex scenes occurred too often and lacked description. To an extent the book felt rushed and repetitive, lacking passion, sensuality and a better narrative.

I will give this author another chance but can honestly say I was disappointed, the story lacked both romance and erotica, and in a way the loss of those two main ingredients made me want to put the book down and stop reading altogether.

If you're looking for a no-nonsense lesbian romance then Lessons in Desire is for you. At face value, the romance between Crockett and Gina is sweet and tantalizing with multiple sexy scenes to enjoy. The backdrop of a Northern California university is scenic and delightful. The angst of the grad student and professor taboo relationship is intriguing. However, much of the story didn't make sense to me especially when Crockett abruptly changes course on their relationship several weeks into it instead of realizing the conflict of interest right off the bat. While there's plenty of erotic scenes, they come across repetitive and monochromatic. Come to think of it, much of their dialogue does, too. Crockett is an insufferable womanizer in the beginning which made it difficult for me to root for her to win Gina's heart. While I don't have a problem with consensual adults enjoying each other, Crockett's conquests became repetitive to the point of excessiveness. I was expecting something more polished and layered as this author has done in the past, but this novel fell from the mark. I also feel as if the publisher did a disservice to the author by allowing this novel to be released in this condition.

Eh, was basically how I felt about this book. The characters never really got deep enough for me to really connect with them. The relationship between the two didn't seem special, meaning I didn't feel like they were meant for each other. Just a lot of ho-hum feelings for me with this book.

I also want to point out that the title and description isn't what this book turned out to be for me. Yes, Crockett is a teacher and (minor spoiler) she ends up being Gina's teacher, but they barely even discuss that aspect until way later in the book. The description makes it feel like they break up because of the teacher/student thing, which is true, but it also doesn't happen until like 70% into the book. There is no real emphasis on this part of their relationship, other than a late in the game vessel to get them to break up. I guess I'm saying it felt contrived to me and not as in depth in the "are they going to break the rules" kind of way I was hoping for.

I rec'd an ARC from NetGalley/Bold Strokes Books in exchange for an honest review.
Quite disappointing and seemingly pointless tale. Sex, yes - lots of it but not much else! I finished reading this (short story) because I refuse to include DNF in any of my reviews.
I am positive Ms. Williamz can do better! 1.5 stars

An erotic novel lacking in any rousing, intimate scenes, chemistry between the characters or the necessary broader, flirtatious plot which makes the audience likely to invest in this form of escapism. Ms. Williamz has done far better work in volumes like "Speakeasy" and the well-developed "Escapades," in those vehicles she was able to fully meld eroticism with broader themes/contexts. Those characteristics were largely absent in "Lessons in Desire," whose protagonist was burdened with the godawful name of Crockett...an alternate choice might have alleviated the irritation that I felt reading her name multiple times in the space of a single paragraph, on what seemed to be a continuous loop. Also, I was quite displeased with the continued overuse of the butch-femme dynamic-women come in a multitude of types and should not be constrained by such stereotypical dimensions. Finally, the ending felt rushed and left me wanting.

This book is labelled erotica but I'm sorry to say it just doesn't do it for me. It, for me, was as erotic as reading an encyclopaedia. I just didn't feel the connection in the characters and overall I got a bit bored. Hopefully it's someone's cup of tea but definitely not for me.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange for a honest review

The whole story and characters the writing just wasn't for me. The same sex scene was repeated over and over and too many times. I mean there is no reason for putting multiple sex scenes in one chapter. Another annoying thing for me was the main characters name - Crockett- and that it was always fully written out. With that her name was sometimes mentioned two or three times in single sentence. I felt that was very distracting.

the book was highly repetitive and poorly written. Would not recommend.

Honestly, the best part of this book was the cover.

Not impressed as I have read far better and more interesting romance/erotica than this.
