I had high hopes for this book. The synopsis really hooked me but I really think the story fell flat. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the banter between Kate and her pals. They made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. I really didn't find a big connection between Kate and Jordan. I think a lot of it had to do with Kate living in her own head so much that we didn't really get to know Jordan. For the first few months of their relationship it didn't seem like Kate gave that much of herself, but Jordan told her she was in love with her. I wondered how she could. Then when Kate said she loved her back....not cool. Overall this was a light easy read, but I would have liked more of a connection between Jordan and Kate and get to know Jordan better.

The relationship between Kate and Jordan was what one would consider to be very tumultuous. Kate drove me crazy with all the doubts and obstacles she kept putting in her way to happiness. I enjoyed her friends Didi and Viv; how they kept on pushing her to evaluate her life and ideals and realize happiness can happy between anyone no matter race, age, or gender. The author used words to build up the story in the readers mind and make them actually feel what the characters were experiencing. Thank you NetGalley, Jean Copeland, and Bold Strokes Books for allowing readers to experience this story.
