I love this book! Courtney doesn't tell you what to do, she advocates for taking time to listen to your heart and figure out for yourself what you need to change. I especially related to what she said about her pain not being from a single event, but from choices she made day after day which pulled her away from who she was until she started making the journey back to herself.

An absolute game changer when it comes to simplicity. This is one of those books I'll be gifting to all the women I know. Cannot recommend it enough.

"Over almost a decade of massive change, its become very clear to me that you have to do things you don't want to do so you can do things you want to do and have the kind of life you really want."
"When you live in a reactive state, making healthy choices can seem impossible."
"So what do you do when you are too busy to choose? You still choose, because not choosing is a choice. There is another way. You can try again. As Thomas Edison said, "When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this - you haven't."

I was provided a complimentary copy of the book, but the opinions expressed in this article are my own. Soulful Simplicity is about listening to your own heart to learn what you need. I loved learning more about Courtney and her story in this book. I also resonated with her theme of “listening to your heart”. As many of my readers know, I have been dealing with a congenital heart condition over the past six months. As my atrial septal defect was repaired this month, I have had to listen to what my physical heart needs to fully heal. I am also using this time and this book to listen to what my spiritual heart wants and to be even more intentional in my life.

If you are feeling as if there is too much stuff in your life, yet not enough time or money, then Soulful Simplicity is a perfect book for you. If you enjoy memoirs, then Soulful Simplicity is a great book for you. If, like Courtney in 2006, you are feeling the overwhelm in your life for any reason, then Soulful Simplicity is a must-read for you.

This is a story that many have experienced, but few have voiced. I applaud the author on her frankness and willingness to share her journey. This book would be suitable for someone "starting their search into finding themselves" . However, I would not recommend it for someone who has already "come out the other end" of their personal struggles. The sections on de-cluttering, and making space in one's life for the New are enjoyable and informative. The parts on the author's personal struggles leaned towards being redundant and repititious.
