Scored is a good fit for readers looking for a lighthearted and sexy romance between a sassy salesgirl and a professional athlete who challenge each other in a playful and enjoyable way.
From the moment that Matt Stallworth met Kelsey Martin he knew there was something there. The problem, Kelsey has no interest in him or does she?
Kelsey has been burned before and she is sure that Matt is a player as well. What could they possibly have in common. Matt though pursues her and Kelsey ends up finding that the chemistry is there but if she is willing to trust him she could have something special with him.
I liked this one quite a bit. Kelsey has Tude with a capital T and it does not phase Matt at all. Matt was full of surprises and I thought he was was a perfect pairing for Kelsey. Entertaining read from the beginning to the end.

Sloane Howell hits a homerun with Scored! I've wanted to read Matt and Kelsey's story since it wan hinted at in Bossed (I also loved seeing more of Ethan and Jenny). While Matt and Kelsey seem to be opposites they have a lot in common once Kelsey lets her guard down. Matt is funny, sexy, dominant and into music. His humor and manners quickly chip away at Kelsey's resolve to keep him at arm's length. The chemistry between Kelsey and Matt is explosive. I loved the humor throughout this book.
I received this book for free from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Was excited for this because I liked the other book in this series but this book just didn't do anything for me. I started it but after putting it down, I was never moved to pick it back up.
My reading preferences have changed a lot in recent years, but I'm trying to get through my never-ending want to read list and this was on it. I hate the cover, sorry Sloane!, but I love the hilarity that always comes with a Sloane Howell release. Part romance, part humor, and a pile of filth, they'll never let you down if you're looking for a lighthearted romance with some heat.
Scored is a fast-paced sports romance with two music-loving characters. From the very first page I could tell I'd be laughing a lot and that proved to be true. It's always nice reading a romance from a male author, they just read differently, though admittedly they have extra details in there I just don't care about. I mean, I don't need to know what size anyone's chest is haha. But Scored was fun and light, a super quick romance that I enjoyed and would recommend.
I fell in love with Sloane Howell’s writing with Bossed so when I got the chance to read Score I was so excited!
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Sometimes you just really want to read a sports romance. More often than that you really want to read a baseball romance.
Because baseball. Duh.
Oh, and sexy dirty talking alphas who are still sweet and everything you want in a man.
Don't forget the girl we all want to be. In this case, we all want to be Kelsey because she has the attention of a baseball player.
I mean, that's exactly who I want to be in my future life.
Anyway, this book is sexy, steamy, sweet, and fun. Sloane Howell hit a home run with this one!
SCORED - Sloane Howell
HOT PLAYER - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - Matt is a popular Texas Rangers baseball star, and he has the happy problem of being offered millions of dollars from two different teams and needs to decide between them. In the midst of his confusion, he meets Kelsey who is The One. They hit it off immediately and, despite her reservations, she feels the same way. What's the problem, you ask? Well, he has quite a reputation which is causing her some concerns. And her guarded personality has her self-sabotaging their relationship.
Writing - 4 stars - I was happily surprised by this new-to-me author. I've read a co-authored book from her before and didn't care for it because of the over-the-top smut factor. But this book was typical romance, in a good way. The characters were likable, the situation was believable, and the HEA was nice.
Characters - 4 stars - Matt is a very attractive hero. He's tall, dark, handsome, and wealthy, of course, but he's also a pretty down-to-earth guy. Although he's very talented and sought-after in the baseball world, he gives back by setting up charities and getting involved in the community. And I'm always a sucker for a guy who loves his mom and his family. Kelsey is much more guarded so we don't get to know her as well, but she's appealing in a vulnerable way. She's strong and has some attitude, but she's willing to be casual and have fun. I liked her despite my initial reservations about her.
Title - 4 stars - Good title that embodies a lot of what's going on in this romance. Of course, it's got a sports theme, so that works. And, of course, Matt and Kelsey both share chemistry, which works for another definition of the word. Clever and cute.
Cover - 3.5 stars - Attractive male, a 20-something athlete, but he didn't fit the written image of a big guy with lots of muscles. The guy on the cover is much more slender and very young-looking. But points for great abs!
Overview - 4 stars - Overall, a pleasant read, attractive characters, and a typical but good HEA romance. The problems between the two seemed somewhat manufactured and unnecessary, but the story still moved forward reasonably quickly. They definitely seemed to jump from not-sure to insta-love very suddenly, but I let it go because it was pretty sweet. Nice, not my favorite, but a fun read.
My apologies in advance, I thought I gave a review on this site for this book.
Witty banter, sexy chemistry and if you know Sloane Howell, he lots a good sports romance thrown in.
Although I liked Bossed a little more than Scored, it still was a good book to read and laugh a bit.

Hello, Matt. I already loved him from the first book but I loved him even more here. A great story, with characters you can’t help but love!
While I liked this book - I didn't love it. It had a lot of sexual content and language. Both of which I'm not a fan of. The cover kind of alludes to it but I thought I'd still give it a chance. I should go with my second impulse.
I can't help myself from being drawn to a good sports romance, and Scored was no different.
The baseball drew me in, but it was Kelsey's whip smart personality and sarcasm, and Matt's charm that kept me flipping the pages.
the chemistry between the two was so good. And I loved how they fed off one another.
They were so evenly matched whit and personality wise. And it made for some pretty fun dialog and even steamer romance.
I honestly really loved everything about this book. It was balanced so well. And the plot was so smooth and easy to read.
I couldn't give it any thing less than 5 stars!! haha
Sexy. Sweet. Unforgettable. I love this author and the stories she writes. Great chemistry. Undeniable attraction. Smoldering tension. Characters that make you feel everything. Highly recommended this book y'all!
***3 Stars***
Overall, I liked this one. It was, when I picked it up, an easy and fun read, but it wasn’t one that I found difficult to put down. Part of that stemmed from Kelsey. While I loved how comfortable in her own skin she was, she rubbed me the wrong way when she’d assume the worst about quite a few things. The other thing that I just couldn’t get on board with was the crazy that came about after Matt’s “secret” got out. I mean I got why it hurt Kelsey, but at the same time all I could think was...really? But on the positive side, I loved Matt ~ talk about a really good man. He really was. I will wish I had liked this one more. The writing was good and there were some great moments all around, but it just didn’t move me past ‘like’
I enjoyed this book. It pulled you right in and kept you turning the pages. This book was well written and I had no issues following the story. It tied into the other books in the series well.
Sloane has a great way with words. He drew me in from the beginning to the end. Loved the characters and the storyline flew so nicely. Enjoyed it.
This is the second book in a series. If you read book one, it will give you some of the back story. However, it isn't necessary to read it. You will love this book just the same. Matt, a professional baseball player and alpha male...will leave you drooling. He has his heart set on Kelsey. She's the best friend of Matt's best friend's fiancé. The spark is there and they have amazing chemistry! They can sure steam up the bedroom and sheets! This book is one click worthy!
A fun read, always have to love with baseball players are front and center! Filled with snark and fun!
Scored tells the story of Matt and Kelsey. Matt is a baseball player and is currently trying to decide if he should stay with his team - the Rangers - or if he should uproot himself and go to New York and play for the Yankees. His best friend is his agent and is telling him that the money will be great in New York and that the Texas team may be stretching themselves thin trying to win him over. The chapters alternate between Matt's point of view and Kelsey's. Kelsey is Matt's agent's wife's best friend (yeah._) and she usually dates guys who play guitar and break her heart, not athletes. Matt's friends are hesitant to fix him up with her because they aren't sure how it will work out. Matt ends up talking Kelsey into going out on a date with him to a concert. He has already fallen hard for her, but she isn't sure what to do and is very reserved about their relationship. Meanwhile, Matt doesn't tell Kelsey anything about the contract negotiations he is in the middle of and how he may move halfway across the country. Kelsey ends up hearing about it on sports radio which obviously causes a major rift in their relationship. Will Matt leave Kelsey and his home to go play for the Yankees? Or will he try to win Kelsey back and stay with the Rangers despite it being less money?
I really enjoyed this book and Matt and Kelsey's sexcapades. I thought it was a lot better written romance novel than most others I have read - and then I realized the author is a male. Not sure if that's why.. but definitely looking forward to checking out some more of Sloane Howell's books in the future!
