I absolutely love love loved this book!! Sloane is a phenomenal writer and knocked this one out of the park! (Yes, yes I just did that 🙄!) Matt is a very sweet gentleman but an oh so panty melting alpha! Kelsey is an anxiety filled no bull kinda chick and very likable! Their flirty witty banter had me laughing out loud! I also enjoyed getting bits and pieces of Ethan and Jenny’s (Bossed) life as an engaged couple! Scored is definitely a top read read for me! If I could give more stars I would! FLOVE!!!

This series has completely flipped for me and whereas Bossed was enjoyable, Scored really didn’t float my boat: a shame because after getting to know Matt a little as a secondary character, I was looking forward to the spotlight being all his.

”Guys like Matt went out with cheerleaders and prom queens, not chicks that wore tattered Levi’s and Led Zeppelin T-shirts.”

Sadly this wasn’t what I’d term memorable as the plot is one which has been done time and time again: sports star meets woman, he’s smitten, she realises she likes him, they get naked, she pulls back because she’s struggling because how can this work…etc. etc. HEA. Yes Matt and Kelsey have chemistry, but I needed to like the male lead which sadly I didn’t, and I didn’t need to be greeted with sex scenes that read like some blokes grotty wet dream.

Even Matt’s ”secret” was wetter than an otters pocket.

2 stars purely because I finished it and there was the odd moment, amongst all the clichéd, bro talking, boob obsessed moments, that weren’t quite so bad.

Move over Ethan Mason, Matt Stallworth is in the house!

This is the second book in this series by Mr Howell, and can be read as a stand alone (however you will want to read about Jenny and Ethan).

Kelsey and Matt really are a case of opposites attract. It is full of witty banter, instattraction and fun. It was a very sweet and sexy story - oh, the sexual tension between them could be cut with a knife *fanning myself*.

I loved that they didn't just fall in bed with each other right from the get go. It is not really a slow burn, but it is not all wham bam either. Their story takes time to grow into something more.

I love the interactions between Matt and Ethan, as well as Kelsey and Jenny. True friendships.

Scored is a quick, sexy read, and now I am waiting to see what Mr Howell brings us next.

Matt Stallworth is a professional athlete and is represented by Ethan Mason of 'Bossed'. However, in this, Matt's story, his contract is up for renewal.

Matt is unable, or unwilling to commit to an offer because he has decided to act on the attraction he feels for Kelsey, the bestie of Jenny, Ethan's fiancée.

Matt and Kelsey are both huge music fans and Matt uses this to his advantage in his pursuit of Kelsey. Their relationship progresses very quickly and Matt suffers a further dilemma about his contract negotiations when he accepts that he doesn't want to leave Kelsey behind.

Kelsey, has trust issues and is unaware that Matt is keeping information from her that could affect their future together.

Of course the strength of their relationship is tested when Kelsey finds out that Matt has kept her in the dark about his future.

The dialogue between these characters is sweet and sour. Matt is the type of guy that everyone would love to take home to meet the parents. Conversely, Kelsey hides behind a smart mouth and the disbelief that Matt could possibly be interested in her.

This is an easy read that is, at times, funny but always entertaining. Definitely another winner from Sloane Howell!

Keep them comin' man

I really loved this book, started a little slow in the beginning, but then it took off and took me for this hysterical ride with two pretty funny characters. Matt and Kelsey's story was filled with a lot of sass, humor, and some really hot steamy scenes that made you wiggle in your seat. I adore male characters that have an emotional side to them, Matt is this big muscled baseball player that falls for his best friends fiancé (Kelsey), who is relationship challenged. She doesn't want to have anything to do with a relationship, until Matt changes her mind and asks her out and won't take no for an answer. Their love of music and the same bands are the core of this newly formed "friendship", and I loved how the two evolved into something pretty special. Absolutely loved the ending and can't wait to see what's next from this author. Great writing from the beginning to the end, kept me very entertained and laughing throughout the story. Well worth the read!

I really enjoyed this book! It was the follow up story to Bossed. I enjoy Sloane's writing style. I think it's cool that a guy can write romance. I didn't think about that fact while reading, but just commenting here that I like it! :)
Matt is the client of and friend to Ethan. He was enamored by Kelsey from the beginning but she wants nothing to do with him. Athletes aren't her type. But Matt is bound and determined to change her mind. The banter between them is fun and oftentimes funny. Kelsey plays nice because he's friends with her best friend and her fiancee. But despite outward differences, they actually have a lot in common. I really enjoyed the things he did to make her believe him and to fall for him. He knew he couldn't lay everything out there for her to see, that he had to be careful around her. Their story had some unique twists and turns and was one that I couldn't put down! I definitely recommend this book! While you don't have to read Bossed first, I would recommend it!

Scored by Sloane Howell
Source: Netgalley
My Rating: 4½/5 stars
My Mini-Review:

The Bottom Line: I love a witty, sexy, banter-filled romance and once again, Sloane Howell delivers with Scored! From start to finish, the back and forth between Kelsey and Matt is top-notch and kept me laughing, sighing, and shaking my head at their antics. Kelsey is terrified of getting close to anyone for fear of having her heart broken yet again, but Matt is so hard to resist. He’s smooth, kind, funny, likes ALL music (big brownie points there!), and is a baseball god. In short, the perfect man. For Matt’s part, he has been interested in Kelsey from the first moment he saw her, and her refusal to give him a chance only fuels the fire. Kelsey isn’t like the other (loads of other!) girls Matt has dated. She’s free-spirited yet responsible, she’s quirky, she’s a music aficionado, and she couldn’t care less about Matt’s status. In short, she’s the perfect woman. No excellent story can get to excellent without some drama, and Matt and Kelsey certainly have their fair share. There are secrets revealed and demons to fight, but in the end, a couple who belongs together will find a way to be so, and Matt Kelsey are 100% meant to be together.

P.S. Though Scored isn’t listed as a part of a series, I would highly recommend reading Bossed first as there is some character overlap between the two books!

A beautiful love story showing how well opposites attract one another. Matt the hot baseball player is instantly drawn to Kelsey. He tries to make her see they are meant to be together but sometimes you can only go so far when the person won't let you in. Kelsey has been burned by love and is afraid to let anyone else in. She works at a music store and has no idea why a man like Matt would ever want to be with her. The banter between the two is hilarious and I found myself laughing out loud several times. I loved watching their relationship unfold. This book was written to perfection and the pace was perfect. Sloane has an amazing talent and his books really capture my attention. I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

Matt is an athlete who can get any woman he wants but when he meets snarky sassy Kelsey he's instantly attracted. I really enjoyed this fun sports related romance with lots of heat.

Do men like him really exist? He loves his mother, adores his nephews and would be interested in a girl who adores records . I love a great story where the guy chases the girl but is respectful and gives her time to get to know him before he puts the moves on her. There is nothing like a little romance to go with the rock hard body and killer looks.

4.5 stars - Oh, how I love thee, let me count the ways.

A genuinely good guy as the hero, not some douche bag the author calls an alpha male to try and make me think a**hole is the new black
A uniquely-her heroine who’s true to herself, ready for the one, and, although she’s afraid to get burned again, remains open to finding love
Quality friends who have the H and h’s best interests at heart and actually give good advice
A HEA that is expected, but executed unexpectedly

This is only my second Sloane Howell read, but I’m all in. If what I’ve read thus far is any indication, if he’s writing it, I’m probably gonna like it. Well done, sir!

As much as I enjoyed this read, and although the heroine was all for it, I'm not a fan of calling a lady slut or whore while having sex. Alas, Scored gets 4.5 stars instead of the 5 it would have earned from me.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Bossed was my first Sloane Howell book and I have been anxiously awaiting Matt’s story in Scored. Scored is the second book in the sports series, but you do not necessarily need to read Bossed to understand what’s going on. I do recommend reading it though as it will fill in a few things (and it was amazing)!

I am totally in love with Matt. He’s a professional athlete so you would expect a cocky asshole, right? NOT AT ALL. The man is down to earth, sweet and kind, humble and completely truthful. Matt is the quintessential book boyfriend.

Kelsey is the fun loving, loyal and loveable girl next door who works at a record store and just so happens to be best friends with Matt’s best friend Ethan’s girlfriend (say that 3x fast). Kelsey and Matt have an instant, undeniable chemistry that makes this story just jump off the pages. The build of their relationship, the good times they have together, how Matt just knew Kelsey was the one, was an adventure that I thought was amazing.

Oh, and the sex you ask?? It was off the charts HOT!!!! I loved the fact that even though you know Matt is an alpha….those sex scenes are where his alpha REALLY showed ;)

Kelsey and Matt took this book to a whole new level as far as sports romances go and I loved it. I laughed, I swooned and I truly loved the relationship between the couple. This was one of the best sports romances that I have read.

Matt and Kelsey, music loving, best friends of perspective best friends/engaged couple. Chase, hook, and love. This was one sexy story of how to get a girl and block the world out, only to have it slap you in the face. Loved the banter and funny moments. I laughed so hard at him and Twilight.

Loved this story! Sweet and sassy read. Lots of funny word vomit. Kelsey reminds a little bit of Violet from Helena Hunting's "Pucked". Matty is a big ole softy romantic. Great read!!

Matthew is a super hot baseball star for his pro baseball team in Texas. The sexual chemistry between Matthew and Kelsey is unbelievable, but Kelsey’s not sure she is ready to have a significant other. Matthew has some tough career choices coming up and he knows if he tells Kelsey she’ll be gone, but he soon won’t have a choice. Will she stay with him? This is a hot book with lots of steamy scenes, but with true love thrown in. This was the first book I've read by Sloane Howell but it definitely won't be my last!

This was my first book by this author, I think I need to try others to see what he is like. This one was just not for me and I struggled to invest in the story. Kelsey and Matt, instant chemistry but hot and cold. I actually found them annoying.
I'm glad others enjoyed this story, so you can judge for yourselves.

Well this one really didn't do it for me. The hot and cold from Kelsey annoyed me, make up your mind. I understand that she had bad previous experiences, but come on, make a decision and stick with it. I don't understand what Matt really saw in her, and then his decision to decide which team he was going to, again make a decision, write a list if you have to. I just was not crazy about it, it actually bored me, after a couple of chapters.

When Matt and Kelsey met through mutual friends, there was something between them. But Kelsey who has been burned before and considers herself out of Matts league is not willing to explore that something.
Matt in a cocky but in a total swoon worthy way doesn't really give her an out, but at the same time is very considerate of her feelings. But there is something that Matts hiding from Kelsey, what will happen when she knows his secret ?
Scored was an easy read. I enjoyed the chemistry between them and the sexy times between them are sizzling hot. Scored was a sweet, sexy and funny read and I look forward to reading more from the author.

Another impressive book from Sloane Howell, his books never fail to capture my attention and keep me hooked until the very last page and this one was no different, I didn’t want it to ever end but it did and it ended perfectly!

Ok, so no spoilers from me. Just my thoughts on this beauty.

Kelsey‘s character is independent and won’t take s**t for anyone. After having her heart broken by the same type’s of men, she finds it hard to trust and it’s easy to see throughout the book. It’s so sad at times but you can understand why she feels the way she does. Seeing her interact with Matt for the first time was damn right funny, she’s super awesome.

Matt is a strong athletic man, he’s passionate and loves his family more than anything. He’s cocky and downright arrogant at times but you can’t help fall for his charm and watching Kelsey experience this is too much fun. Matt is extremely famous and has a face that everybody knows, he can’t walk down the street without being noticed and Kelsey is the exact opposite, she has a select few friends and spends her time in an indie record store doing what she loves most but they do say opposites attract, right? These characters sure did.

After meeting Matt and Kelsey in Bossed (Ethan and Jenny’s story, the first book in this series) I was extremely excited to see how their story would play out and damn, I wasn’t disappointed. Sloane Howell delivered, for sure!

The storyline was amazing, the sex was SO FREAKING HOT and the characters were amazing, it was fantastic! I love me a good Sloane Howell book!

Matt wanted one thing more than his upcoming contract...Kelsey Martin. She is unlike anyone he ever met before. She consumed his every thought and made him long for a future with her. Kelsey is skittish and is adamant about not entering into a relationship but slowly loses the fight she valiantly tried to hold. Her fall is bittersweet and Matt finds the one who completes him.
