Fun and sexy, Matt and Kelsey can't fight the attraction anymore. This is book 2 in the series, but can be read on its own (although you should read the first one too). I really enjoyed this book and want more of these sexy baseball players and friends.
Scored is my first title by Sloane Howell and I loved it! Such a great combination of character development, a wonderful story line, and details! Matt and Kelsey compliment one another, they're playful, and relatable! If you're looking for a fun, hot read, Sloane Howell knocked Scored out of the park.

After reading Bossed, the first in this series by Sloane Howell, I was anxious to get my hands on Scored. I was not disappointed! While this book is the second in the series, and reading the first will help with some backstory, it wouldn't be absolutely necessary to still enjoy this book.
Matt Stallworth is a professional baseball player and while he's definitely an alpha male, he's a little bit different than what we normally see and that was refreshing. He is more down-to-earth, humble, is very into charitable causes and he's unselfish. And, he's had his eyes on Kelsey for some time now.
Kelsey Martin is the friend of Matt's best friend's fiance and that is how the two originally met. Kelsey is a quirky, snarky, music-loving record store employee who is very guarded when it comes to matters of the heart. She's been hurt in the past and the last thing she wants is to be put in that position again.
When Matt and Kelsey finally get together, their chemistry is undeniable and they are a great match because Kelsey gives as good as she gets. Not to mention they burn up the sheets in the bedroom! Will the fact that Matt doesn't come clean about what is going on with him derail the fragile relationship they have forged?
It took me a bit to get into this book for some reason. I think I had a bit of a tough time connecting with Kelsey at first, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the story and I always enjoy Sloane Howell's writing so much. I enjoyed this entertaining and witty read.
Having read Bossed the first book in this series where we first got to meet Matt and Kelsey, the flirting that happened between them was interesting enough for me to want to read their story. You dont need to have read Bossed to read this as they are both standalone books but it does help you see where their attraction to each other started.
Matt is a pro-baseball player and has a name and face that everyone knows where as Kelsey is just a girl who works in a indie record store that is bad at dating loser's. They are total opposite ends of the scale from each other or so they think that they are until Matt plucks up the courage to demand that Kelsey goes out on a date with him and she see's a totally different side to him.
I really enjoyed this story enough to say that "yeah that was a good story" but it lacked the edginess that Bossed did with Ethan being a hothead and I know that I shouldn't compare them but I really expected Kelsey to be more of a firecracker and make it harder for Matt to get her and be more of a challenge. She seemed like she would play more hard to get and I didn't feel that she lived up to what I thought her character could have been. I still give this 4 stars as I still liked the story and the writing was good.
This story was a typical instant love romance between a famous baseball player and a record store clerk.
Great book. I enjoy reading Bossed so Scored is a must read from the beginning. Matt and Kelsey are a fun, sexy, powerful couple. They keep you with on pin drop every time. Love their goofy ways and hot sex.
I receive a ARC from Netgalley for a honest review.
Sloane Howell is an auto-click for me, her books are getting more better with each new one I read. This is another awesome read by a very talented author who writes brilliant story's, us readers just love and can't get enough of. Excited for the next book in this series, really can't wait but will keep a look out for any books by this author. Would recommend
What a great story!
Matt and Kelsey were supporting characters in the book Bossed and their flirty banter almost stole the show and left me craving more of them and hoping they got their own story! Scored is that story, and it everything I hoped not would be, witty, sweet, flirty and sexy as hell!
Matt has a lot of stuff going on in his career, he's a free agent in Major League Baseball and contract negotiations are fierce, but the only thing on his mind is getting to know Kelsey as more then just a friend.
Kelsey has a terrible track record of falling for the wrong type of guys and athletes are so not her type, but something about Matt makes her wish she could get over her phobias.
It's a rocky road with misunderstandings and some hardcore denial but their story is beautiful and just plain fun to read.
If you love baseball, romance and super sexy characters you will love this story. Sloane captures young love that's fresh and full of witty one-liners. Matt is definitely your next new book boyfriend.
The summer might be almost over but with this book, baseball can last all year long! What are you waiting for....pre-order now.
A light easy read, not heavy on the emotions and not any real drama to worry about.
The main characters of Kelsey and Matt where likeable and Easy to see why there was a connection and Matt was portrayed as a genuinely lovely guy, which made this book refreshing.
3 / 3.5 Stars

I really liked this baseball romance book, although this one is much more steamy romance than baseball. Which I didn't mind at all. Kelsey and Matt were just perfect for each other and I was really glad when they realized it. That they only had to be themselves with each other. This is definitely a book I will be recommending.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided by NetGalley.
"How did he make being a cocky asshole so hot and endearing?"
4.5 stars. I confess, I was curious to read a romance novel written by a male. Yeah, I'm guilty of keeping that in the back of my head as I read the dialogue. I must admit, I was impressed. The humor and witty banter between the characters had me laughing out loud. I really enjoyed the support characters too, so much that I wouldn't mind seeing more of them in future books. It wasn't until I got to the end of the book that I discovered that this was the 2nd installment of a series. I most definitely need to go back and read Bossed, especially after meeting Ethan & Jenny in Scored.
Matt is a professional baseball player. He's living the life. Enjoying his sport, his family and his friends. Speaking of friends, his best friend Ethan is getting married soon. Ethan's fiance is Jenny, and her best friend is Kelsey. Matt has had his eye on Kelsey from the get-go, but has been nervous about making a move. He knows it's a risk, with both of them being in the inner circle with their best friends. It could become very uncomfortable if their relationship failed. But he can't stop thinking about her...
Kelsey has no interest in sports and the only reason she knows about Matt is from her bestie. She can't deny he's gorgeous. But they are like opposites so there's not much chance of him noticing her, right? Wrong. Imagine her surprise when he shows up at the record store where she works. Was he lost? Nope, he was looking for her.
Was the intense attraction they felt for each other enough to overcome the obstacles they would face if they decided to date? Would she be able to deal with his celebrity status and constant media attention? Would a Google search end them before they even started? Would his past ruin his chances? Was their passion stronger than their fear?
Scored is surprisingly sweet, very sexy, and extremely funny. It's just what I needed to clear my mind after a long day and to bring a smile to my face. I'm now a Sloane Howell fan and will be looking forward to whatever he writes next. The line forms here...
After reading Bossed, I was anxious to get my hands on Scored and Matt's story. Let me first start off by saying that, while this is the second book in Howell's sports series, it can be read as a complete standalone so reading Bossed first is not necessary. However, I do recommend it because there is some backstory to the lead characters' relationship that helps paint a better picture for readers. But again, not necessary at all. With that out of the way.....
I loved Matt's character! He's the total opposite of what you expect from a professional athlete. He's humble, down-to-earth, charitable, sweet, kind-hearted, romantic and completely unselfish. Of course those fabulous traits do accompany a gorgeous body, top-notch talent and a sexiness that oozes from him in spades (natch). Matt was a welcome change from your typical alpha athlete. Don't get me wrong, he is most definitely an a-plus alpha but his gentle nature hides the beast underneath. He definitely makes for a great book boyfriend! Kelsey is your fun-loving, kooky, girl-next-door who gives as good as she gets. She's snarky, loyal and kind but she's also gun-shy when it comes to love, afraid of being hurt based on past experiences. Together, Matt and Kelsey have fabulous chemistry and their bedroom scenes are super hot. There were times that Kelsey grated on my nerves but once she finally gave in to her feelings for Matt, her character's annoying parts leveled out and I grew to like her.
The story itself is the typical, formulaic sports romance but I really feel like Matt's character elevated it which was a pleasant and welcome surprise. Add in difficult contract negotiations, secrets and fun, witty banter between all of the characters and you have an enjoyable and entertaining read.
This book was amazing! A truly wonderful read. The plot was strong, the characters were believable. I'm really impressed. Would highly recommend it based on the quality of story alone.
This was my first book by Sloane. I really liked his writing style. Baseball is one of my favorite sports to watch. This book had me cracking up. I like how the pro player is trying his hardest to hook up with. The girl who usually dates '"band" guys. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down. I liked how the two main characters are trying to one hook up in his case her case trying to figure out if she should hook up with him. Then add in their friends and it makes the dynamics a whole lot more interesting.
I felt this book was really unrealistic.. the first sex scene of him masturbating to her voice was so out of place! How do you know if someone has a tight pussy if you haven't been there! And it says baseball, but it all talks about a contract, but focuses on the relationship only
I read the previous book, Bossed, and loved it, so I expected to love Scored. It was even better! I mean, who couldn't love Matt?! Sexy, funny, sweet and he's good to his family. Definitely a keeper.
This was a very cute story. I loved Matt and Kelsey as a couple and as loving characters. Their conflicts were believable and accurate.
This, unfortunately, will be my last effort on a Sloane novel. I was hoping Bossed was a fluke and the author would improve his writing skills on this second novel, but no luck. If anything, I found this title to be more poorly written than Bossed. Typical alpha male meets fiery, stubborn female fair with lots of repetitive phrases and overuse of "smirks" throughout, plus, the death knell for any romance: and an unconvincing heat. Dun dun duuuuun!
I really dig Sloane's books! A male romance novelist is a rare thing and he really hits it out of the park! (Baseball pun intended!) I received an ARC for this book and so happy that I did. Scored is the story of Matthew and Kelsey. I am amazed at how Sloane can really get into the mindset of a female character and make it so believable and relatable. I loved Kelsey's take no crap attitude and how she made Matthew work for it. Oh my Matthew! He was a dreamboat, a true southern gentleman. I really enjoyed the dialogue, it was funny, it was hot and it was real. Well done sir! Well done!
