Hope for Christmas by Stacy FinzIn a previous Nugget book, we met Emily and Clay McCreedy. She's a famous cookbook author while he's a rancher. They've created a blended family with his two sons but Emily can't ever forget her daughter. Especially now that there are calls claiming that somebody has her. After seven years, can it possibly be true? And what does that mean? Not only for Emily but for her ex-husband and his new wife.
A nice addition to the Nugget series. I like that everything wasn't solved neatly and some ties were left undone. This is definitely not a story for people who haven't read the rest of the series.
Three and a half stars
This book comes out October 10
This story caught my heart as it touches on an abducted child who has been missing but never forgotten for seven years.. I really felt for Emily McCreedy and how hard each day has to be not knowing what happened to her daughter, Hope. In a twist of events she finds her daughter and they have to learn to become a family again. There are raw emotions and love in this book that will tug on your heart. The book is very real showing Emily's ex-husband and her new husband, Clay and how all of this affects their lives. I also love the title, Hope for Christmas.
I've read the entire Nugget series and have enjoyed every book. I had thought it was Finz' intent to allow Hope's disappearance to go unsolved, as is the situation in so many real life cases. I was wrong, this book resolves the issue in a way I did not see coming. Finz did not shy away from he familial tangle that can occur. A real page turner, more of a novella in length. I could not put it down. It felt like a love letter to the fans and it was welcome.
ok was not expecting this. What an amazing addition to the series. Stacy Finz is a wonderful writer and really knows how to tell a story. It was great to see everyone again and especially for Christmas. A good start for the season
The story we've all been waiting for! Loved the revisit to Nugget! This story reminded me just how much I loved Clay!
One of my previous reviews was for Stacy’s ‘Need You’, and I mentioned in that one how I wanted to read her Nugget series since I loved that one so much. I devoured all 9 books one right after the other-they are SO good!! So take this as a recommendation that you NEED to read this series! This is one where you really need to read them all in order because events and people from the books before are mentioned. But I know that some of you don’t want to commit to long series (weirdos) so at a minimum you would need to read ‘Finding Hope’ (#2 in Nugget) first to get the proper introduction to Emily and Clay McCreedy.
This is going to be a different kind of review for me, because I don’t want to let on anything more than the cover blurb provides. So I will just talk about how much I *loved* the story! Stacy’s writing has so much heart that you just can’t help but be touched with each new installment. The depth of emotions in Clay and Emily’s story means that as a reader, you will feel right along with the characters. I loved the glimpses of the other characters from the Nugget-verse, and I really hope the series will continue…especially as I’m hoping the end of this one was meant to leave it open for a follow-up! (Hint, hint!)
A big thanks to Netgalley and Kensington/Lyrical Shine for the chance to read this gem early!
It's so difficult for me to leave less than a five star review on any book I read and I've loved all the books by Ms Finz; however, I didn't love this one quite as much. To be honest I'm not sure why. I love the story line and the tying up of lose ends but something didn't flow for me. Hope has been missing since she was very young and Emily has searched exhaustively for her and all of a sudden after many years she starts getting cryptic messages both on the phone and in the mail. It's a sweet book and makes the reader happy to read it but for some reason the characters didn't seem as well developed.. That said, it certainly is a good beach read and as more in the series are written, you'll be glad you read this one.
Hope for Christmas is the tenth book in the Nugget Romance series written by author Stacy Finz. Set in the beautiful town of Nugget, this is the continuing story of Emily and Clay McCreedy. I like knowing what happens to characters in a series after their particular story has ended in one book and so I enjoyed reading more about Clay and Emily's ongoing story. Stacy Finz brings heartwarming appeal to all her stories but adds the reality of difficult issues such as child kidnapping, drugs, death, real life issues and emotions good and bad . Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books/Lyrical Shine for the advance copy. I do not think that this would work well as a stand along story because knowing who all the characters of her Nugget series are helps in understanding the story and knowing the original story of Emily and Clay. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction with romance, family, friends, and a close knit community as an added bonus.
I wanted to read this book as I was gripped by the storyline. It was easy to read and well written but the conclusion came to soon for me until I realised this was part of a series so the story had been built up over several previous books. The characters are likeable and well described - I felt I knew them. I would recommend that this book is read in sequence with the series although the author did a good job of explaining the past events which did enable it to be read as a stand alone story. I will now be looking for the previous books!
I love Nugget, and have been waiting and hoping for this story since I first visited there. Emily's child was kidnapped and for seven years she has been through agony wondering if she was alive and well. Finally, at this Christmastime there is a break in the case and Emily is reunited with her daughter. Love, in all of its facets is examined in 'Hope for Christmas' and Stacy Finz has done a spectacular job.
Shoot, I don't blame her. It's easier to shop by yourself.
Haha, nice try, Rhys!
Nice tree.
Why wait until you're dying to do this, lady?
Poor little girl. They might have been evil junkies, but for seven years they were her mom and dad.
Oh, I remember the bench now.
