In this episode, Grace and Menchú travel to China to help the Chinese Government with a breach of magic.
I love the fact that, in this season, we have been getting to know more about Arturo. He’s a fascinating character and this episode really emphasized that.

I liked reading ist, as a part of the bookburners series. It is entertaining and easy to read.

You shut up, Max Gladstone! You just shut up! I'm not crying, you're crying! (I'm totally crying.)

This was... Well, damn. This was everything that Grace and Father Menchú are and were and will and will not be. There is a section of this story that is such a beautiful description of pure love--and it is so gorgeously, poetically written--that it transcends any sadness and is simply Right.

The story was good, too. ;) It's interesting to see how others react to them, and how the Vatican's intentions aren't perceived as being as pure as they assume (pretend) they are. That's been a thing this season and it's a great companion to the overarching story of Asanti and her interest in magic.

WOW. Seriously. I really like this series, but 'Oracle Bones' I LOVED.

"Magic," he said, "is more than monsters...more than demons. There are worlds beyond ours: a sea of beasts and dangers we cannot fathom. We are lucky. We live on an island where time always goes one way, where distance has meaning, where people cannot melt together, where your mind is your own. But sometimes the waves roll in."

It's not just the writing, which is lyrical, and descriptive, and packs so much into the chapter. And it's not just the tightening of the focus, which narrows down to Grace and Arturo, the two longest-standing members of the team. And it's also not the 'adventure of the week', which gives an insight into how the rest of the world are handling these - incursions? It's how they all pack and fit in together, making one incredible chapter in what was already a phenomenal series.

It is *really* hard to review these fairly, because it's so easy to spoil. But without any further gushing just know that this is truly a standout.

Thanks again to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a free copy in return for an honest review
