Finally I read this 3rd book in the sexy kinky Rules of Engagement Trilogy. Not sure why I took so long to get to this book because this series is a solid 4 star across the board. Whilst this can be read as a standalone, it is better to read this book after reading the first two books.
The thread that ties these three books together is now coming to an end. With Carmen Dane, she is the one who figures out why Cristof, a Russian terrorist/mobster is after her and her friends. Mixed with this hide and seek with Cristof, Carmen confronts Thomas, the latest in the line of men who have broken her heart and placed someone else ahead of her.
This story is filled with angst as Carmen and Thomas try to reconcile. Carmen's trust of Thomas broken as a Domme who made the choice to submit to Thomas only to be horrifically rejected, it is going to be a tough battle for Thomas. I am a bit mixed with Thomas demanding Carmen's submission. It can happen, two dominants who will switch with each other. It tends to be complicated and messy which is how Ms. Snow details it out. It is something Carmen has to wrestle with several times as she doesn't accept her submission as easily as Thomas will accept his. Although I argue the fact that Thomas ever submits. He bottoms for Carmen but never gives over his power in an erotic exchange. Yet he seems to demand Carmen to yield in submission, not to only bottom. If it works for them, let it be.
The suspense part of this story is nicely woven into Carmen and Thoma's conflicted relationship. All the different threads tie nicely together as Ms. Snow creates a well written story with a focused plot, likeable characters and realistic conflicts. Plus I loved the glitterkink aspect to this story. Carmen's club is pretty hawt and I'd love to see it. These characters are all uber wealthy and it is a fantasy to live their lifestyle. If only...
Rule Changer is a stunning conclusion to this erotic trilogy. Highly recommended as a gateway to BDSM book.
Rule Changer…. What a perfect title for this book. It was truly a Rule Changer.
This book is about a domme and a dominant that are in love or may I say in lust with each other.
Carmen fell for Thomas but like any relationship there came some stumbling blocks. After the devastating betrayal by Thomas, Carmen decided to leave the country with a big secret.
Carmen returned to the states, content with continuing to keep the secret from Thomas. Thomas discovers the secret and vowed to get Carmen back.
Whenever someone has been hurt and has lost the trust in that person; it takes a lot to ever trust that person again. Sometimes it can be harder to forgive the person you truly loved. I could connect a little with Carmen with the struggle she faced when trying to trust Thomas again. It is truly a hard thing to do, once someone has broken you it is really, really, hard to forgive, and move on with that person.
There is a lot of angst in this book with Christof the Russian that seems to be out to hurt everyone she knows and loves.
There were certain things that I found unbelievable in the story. There were times I stopped reading and said to myself, WHAT???!!! I just couldn’t believe it.
Otherwise, this book was an easy read, the sex scenes were good.
Can you survive a conflict of interest? Thomas and Carmen must decide their fate. I received this book as an ARC and enjoyed every moment of reading this book. This book is full of love, action, and suspense. Both Thomas and Carmen are strong minded characters and hate to be told what to do. They each have their own ideas and their own circle of friends. Both must make the choice to follow each other's rules. Following rules is tough for each, but they might be able to come to a middle ground, but be careful what you wish for. Rules are meant for breaking.
Here is a review by wendy: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2186664864
I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.
This is the third book in this series. I would like to preface my review that I've not read the other two books in this series. I did struggle a bit with the first part of the book. Trying to figure out what all they were talking about that had happened in previous books. Once I was about 25% into the book it was easier to understand and the story actually picked up for me.
We have Carmen and Thomas in Rule Changer. This book definitely lives up to it's name. They change all the "rules" in this edition. So Carmen and Thomas are both Dominates. However, you can't have two alpha's in a relationship...someone has to submit eventually. This is part of the changing of the rules. The bending of them if you will.
Also - Carmen's father was mixed up in some bad financial stuff and it's caused lots of problems for the family. Issues that are still effecting them long after her father is gone. It's effecting Carmen's family now and she's scrambling to figure out how to save them.
Thankfully her computer science skills from college come in handy every once in a while. As well as her genius sister in law. Between the two of them they've just about figured out what the end game is and the rules of engagement. When the time comes and the stuff hits the fan - Carmen and Thomas find themselves in a whole other level to their relationship.
I enjoyed reading this book. I left a ton of stuff out of this review because there'll be no spoilers for you! Definitely a great ending to this trilogy. Even though I haven't read the first two it was definitely thrilling to read this edition and see how these two Dominates can make their relationship work in personal as well as professional.
I was excited to get this book Sienna Snow is new to me and I found this a good book,
this was the third book in the series and I have decided to go back and read the first two as they really should be read in order, to understand they dynamics of Thomas and Carmen,
Both Thomas and Carmen are Dom's so you know they are going to have the power struggles in the etempts to move from the past and establish new roles in the relationship. The best way i can describe this book is HOT
After reading the first two books in this series, I couldn't wait for Carmen and Thomas story!
So much has happened since Thomas' betrayal and Carmen knows she needs to tell him the truth but before she can tell him, he returns for her and he won't stop until she agrees to take him back! The chemistry between the two is off the charts!! I love their constant push-pull with each other!! Thomas is the only man Carm has submitted to but can she stand to submit to him again when her heart is on the line!? Get ready for some heated scenes and be warned- there is a bit of bdsm involved!! I really enjoyed this story! A perfect combination of suspense, sex and love!! I can't wait to see what Sienna Snow has in store for us next!!
I am a huge fan of Sienna Snow books and I have been counting down the days until the Rule Changer came out so when I got the chance to read a ARC of this book I was so excited and I dived into this story as soon as I could and Omg it was it fantastic! Rule Changer is an excellent conclusion to the Rules of Engagement series.
In this book we follow Carmen and Thomas .I loved these together form the very beginning of this series ,In the beginning its safe to say that they are really not on speaking terms because of things that happen in the past , however the passion between these two remain as fiery as ever despite of everything that has happened and there is now one more thing binding them now...well actually 2, there two adorable Twin babies . I loved the romance in this book! I always say that Sienna Snow always writes romances with such depth with the dirtiest sex scenes ever lol .There love story was sexy , fun and filled with emotion and heart , no one was happier than me to see them get there happy ending . I also want to talk about all the stuff that was happening between Carmen and the main villain in the story Christof , we got to find so much more about why Christof is hellbent on getting revenge and that opened doors to secrets and reveals that made my jaw drop at points. I loved this story , there was never a dull moment and I my eyes were glued to every word . I have bitter sweet feeling about this book because while It makes me so happy to see that all my favorite characters in this series are happy . I am sad because its the end to one of my favorite series ever, but at the same time I am so excited to see what Sienna Snow will next ! I know whatever she writes will be fantastic. If you are wondering if you should go pick up a copy of this book the answer is yes go pick up this book as soon as you possibly can .
This is the third book in this series by this author. I have only read this book in the series but I'll definitely be going back to read the others to get a better understanding of the story. This is a action packed, roller coaster of a ride book. This book will take you on a emotional ride with some of the scenes in the book. The characters are just perfect, a strong female mixed with a alpha male. I can't wait to read more in this series in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
Favorite Quote: “I’m tired of not being enough.”
Carman Dane is a powerful Domme who has knelt for no man, except her ex-lover to whom she gave her all and he responded with accusations and betrayal. Now he’s back and wants a second chance but Carman isn’t falling for his pretty words and sexy body this time around.
Master Thomas Regala wants Carman back. He knows he royally screwed up by listening to his family rather than his heart but he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get her back. Even give up some of his own power for her pleasure.
As Thomas attempts to convince Carman to forgive the past and work towards a future, a face from the past decides to punish Carman once and for all for her father’s misdeeds. As Thomas races to find the culprit and save his lover, he learns that sometimes the only way to win is to change the rules.
I have been waiting for this couple’s story since Rule Master, #2. We were given a brief glimpse into their problems and the secret Carman was hiding. Now, 1 year later, Thomas has discovered Carman’s little secret. Or rather her two little secrets-twin boys. And he’s come to collect his family. Only Carman is far from even close to forgiving him and really, no one can blame her. Carman and Max-Rule Changer, #1-have had to deal most of their lives with the rumours and fall out from their scandalous father who embezzled funds and was murdered by his lover-Thomas’ aunt. Thomas uses Carman’s secrets against her, accusing her of deception, betrayal, and cheating on him. None of which she did. She leaves the country and refuses any contact with him despite his repeated attempts. It’s only when she returns to the states and the tabloids run pictures of her and the boys does Thomas override her refusals and demand to see his children.
“I am here for my sons.”
Heavily character driven, Rule Changer is an erotic second chance romance between two dominants. Thick with tension and sticky with emotions, Snow digs deep into this relationship to show us where it went wrong and what it might take to fix it. Told from Carman’s point of view, the storyline stays predominantly hers though we are privy to Thomas’ feelings through dialogue. The ongoing suspense-filled arc intertwines with the romance thou the romance definitely is the weightier of the two. Snow does very little recap so it’s best to have read books one and two beforehand to understand the characters and situation at hand.
Carmen and Thomas are so much alike personality wise. Both are products of traumatic childhoods and dominants to boot. Submitting does not come easy to either of them yet they have found that the rules are not are not set in stone-especially with the one you love. Carman is a blending of Ari and Milla. The perfect mixture of strength and vulnerability. She learned early on to hide her feelings and project only calm and quiet confidence because the vultures are always circling, looking for a way in to destroy you. Her father went off the deep end after her mother died and she and Max suffered for that. Now a mother herself, she vows never to allow her sons to be anyone’s pawn. Her feelings for Thomas are just as intense as when they were dating but she is tired of never being first in someone’s life.
“Look, I can’t handle being second best anymore. First my father, then Andrew, and now Thomas. I’m done with men who view me as lacking and disposable. I won’t keep putting myself in the same situation.”
Thomas was raised by his grandfather after his parents were in a fatal car accident. His mother was disowned after marrying his father, and Thomas’ grandfather was the only person who has never abandoned him. Thomas feels much love and loyalty to his grandfather and it’s those emotions that fueled his rejection of Carman though he immediately realises his mistake and attempts to reconcile with little luck.
I was wrong […] I promise to spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”
The romance is intense and sensual with this couple’s chemistry scorches the pages. Carman resents the fact that she responds to his dominance like a submissive and that he uses it as a way back into her life. Readers will enjoy the multiple D/s love scenes that drip with heat, dominance, and antagonism as this couple attempts to find a way for them to work as lovers and as a family.
“Why do you call me Mistress when you want to be my Master?”
“One does not negate the other. Until you admit the truth, you’ll never experience the freedom and exhilaration you’re known for pulling from your submissions.”
The ending is a mixture of action and surprises as Carman, Thomas, and the rest of the group work towards discovering the connection between Christoff and her father. The easy resolution of the arc was disappointing though. Three books of intrigue and suspense and it’s over in a nanosecond with little fanfare. Some readers will find the lack of violence that permeated books one and two a nice change.
I also had some qualms with the romance. Thomas does a full court press to get Carman back but everything he did was geared towards what he wanted. I also felt her friends weren’t as supportive towards her as they should have been. Everyone kept making excuses for him and there was a lot of manipulation on everyone’s part to push Carman back into Thomas’ arms. It made the romance feel a little less mutually accepted.
Regardless, Rule Changer is a hot and suspenseful erotic (BDSM) romance that ends the main storyline on a positive note and leaves all our couples secure in their happily ever after.
Grade: C+
Rule Changer was another book that I ended up reading twice, once for me and once for the review. This is also a book I wouldn’t recommend reading as a standalone. The relationship between Thomas and Carmen starts in the previous books and the characters of the series are so entwined that you really should read the trilogy to get the full impact. I didn’t discover Sienna Snow until I meet her at this year’s Romantic Times Convention. Similar to Meredith Wild, she writes female heroines in the technology industry. In Snow’s case, her heroines are billionaires like the heroes and have very kinky sex lives. The heroine of Rule Changer, Carmen is a Domme. However, prior to this book, she had a relationship with the hero, Thomas, who is as Dom. A week after submitting to him for the first time, he cruelly ends their relationship. In response, she does not tell him about her pregnancy. Rule Changer opens with Thomas returning to Carmen’s life and discovering their twin boys.
Being totally honest, secret babies are my romance novel catnip. However, I do like the heroine to have a good reason for keeping the babies a secret. While I understand that Carmen is heartbroken and that she is capable of raising the kids on her own, she really should have told Thomas sooner. However, I was also glad that they both overcame that mistake and it did not hang over the rest of book. Thomas quickly forces his way into Carmen’s life again. Most of their relationship is a battle for dominance and it was steamy to see a powerful hero like Thomas submitting to Carmen. In addition to figuring out their relationship, the story also focuses on the danger Carmen is in from an enemy from the previous books. While Carmen is a smart heroine, she sometimes needlessly puts herself at risk in the book.
Rule Changer was an excellent conclusion to this trilogy. Snow does hint at another possible couple within this book and I’m looking forward to more. Carmen, with the other two heroines, Arya and Milla, were a new form of erotic BDSM heroine. They were able to maintain an empire in public and business while still submitting in the bedroom. In addition, Snow’s heroines and heroes are all ethnically diverse which adds a further dimension to the series! The whole series was just amazing and I can’t recommend it enough!
Dark, sexy dominance that goes both ways. She's a Domme. He's a Dom. Both have the power to weld and both have a vulnerable spot for the other. One incident changes their relationship for months. We have watched the two from the start of the series in the back and forth. Now we get to see them up close and very personal.
Carmen gave up a piece of herself to a man, Thomas. She regrets that with every fiber within her, but she also craves that extra only he gave her.
Thomas knows that Carmen is and will always be his everything. His Mistress. His submissive. He was willing to do what it took to get her back, but some things are harder to do than to say.
Sienna Snow has pulled of an erotic tryst with ups and downs that pull you in to their world. Carmen and Thomas have fire, passion, chemistry, and something much sweeter. This one gave a villain, dirtier escapades, sexier coupling, revenge, and secrets. There's much more to the story.
I know we are always searching for that next hot, alpha male that makes us secretly smile while reading and Thomas completely fills that slot. He is strong, possessive and determined to get his family back. Carmen is the perfect match for him. She is just as strong, passionate and determined. She is determined not to have anything to do with Thomas even though he is the father to her twin babies. Thomas broke her heart and she is hiding behind her heartache to keep from making that mistake again. Unfortunately, she underestimates Thomas and his love. If that wasn't enough, she also has to deal with a villain that wants to destroy everything. What more can she handle? This book had the perfect mix of drama and romance. The connection between Thomas and Carmen was strong and I loved every moment of it.
From my point, read the other's first before reading this one, I haven't read the other's and I picked up in this but I love to have a timeline to read with and I would have love to read all the trouble Carmen and her friends and family got into through others view points.
BDSM, Domme Carmen Dane won't be submitting to any man let alone a Dom. Dom Thomas Regala will only summit as a slave to one women, the women he tore her heart out with actions and words not only from him but from his Uncle. Carmen is very emotional, losing her loving mother at a young age, being a youngster sibling of twins with her older brother Max, they lost their mom and their father, his a love but he push his children away to be raised by someone else nor did he spend time with them. Carmen had had a fiancee but he wasn't a great guy, then she fell for a Dom and not a sub. She's been with Thomas for 3 years before all hell broke lose and destroyed her heart, love and psychological thinking. On top of all that she is still living as the daughter that embezzled 40 billion dollars, and still trying to clean it up but a couple of ghosts from her recent past, the Russian devil and the love of her life and the father of her kids Thomas. He ain't packing light punches either, his back and he wants it all no matter what he has to fight for it....
Told in Carmen's p.o.v. with a HEA.
I've read the first two books, and absolutely LOVED it! I cannot wait to read this third book to see how Carmen's story unfolds. This is going to be very interesting as she is a Domme! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves hot sexy and steamy...oh guess I already mentioned that it's hot! LOL... Yes, get it. Read it!! :)
Enjoyed the story overall.
I loved seeing the characters go through the series together and help each other throughout. I love the mischief the girls get into and how they drive the men in their life batty. So what had me go meh?
At times Carmen. She was waffly and at times just not nice. I understand that Thomas hurt her. I do. but her actions were not good either. She had him miss milestones that he can never get back. And when she starts to fight for her she is really not pleasant at first. There is being wary and than there is going to far. TO me Carmen went to far. Thomas made mistakes but she also should have seen things from his view and when he came back and tried she shouldn’t have treated him the way she did. She really wasn’t pleasant.
Thomas was a amazing alpha male. Yes he messed up big time before he comes back into Carmen’s world. But he does want to rectify it. I mean when you see him submit wowza. And how he protects her and respects her as well you just melt. He is a great flawed character who cares. he shows her respect and support but also trusts her and gives her control. he trusts her implicitly.
when Carmen is in trouble I didn’t like how she dealt with it. She was very cold towards Thomas especially since that is his field of expertise. It was because she didn’t want him to have control over her and she didn’t really trust him. It was hard to see. Once he was let in it was wonderful and their intimacy was really wow.
The danger and fight for the truth to be found and justice served was intriguing. The story alluring and went by quickly for you wanted to see if Thomas would win Carmen over and who was behind everything that went down all those years ago.
I have been following this series since book one and I love Arya, Mil, and Carmen. Sienna Snow does an amazing job with these series, you never want them to end. I was anticipating Carmen and Thomas story for awhile and so excited to read the conclusion. Can this group finally take down Christoph once and for all? Or will he cause a new threat to Carmen and the ones that she loves the most. These woman are hard headed and stubborn. They want to protect their family and find themselves in more danger. The drama was there and so was the hot chemistry between two Doms that submit when needed. That was the part I loved the most!
Carmen has been hurt badly by Thomas. She is finally ready to let her secret come into light. Thomas is determined more than ever to show Carmen he is in it for the long haul. Carmen is not ready to give her trust and needs to have control. I thought when Thomas gave her the gift of submission, I knew he was all in.
I loved revisiting with all the girls and the men in their lives. I adore Max and Lex. But something about Thomas had me giving him my heart. When the story unfolds, the drama intensifies. I was holding my breath a lot more than I intended too. Rule Changer has a bit of sexy mixed with action. Your brain is in overdrive trying to piece the clues that were left behind. I love the ending and finally feel that Carmen and her family can possibly get their HEA.
'Rule Changer' by Sienna Snow is book Three in The "Rules of Engagement" Series. This is the story of Carmen Dane and Thomas Regala. I have not yet read the previous book in this series but I would advise doing so to fully enjoy their story. I found that this book picks up after what appears to have been a bad break up between Carmen and Thomas. Thomas hurt Carmen and she left for Italy where she gave birth to twin boys. Now about a year and a half later she has returned. Thomas went directly to her house to claim his sons.
Their story was really hot and exciting for sure. Carmen and Thomas are both Dom's with that strong personalty too. So watching just their interactions were hot but the whole story was great! Ms. Snow has me hooked into this series so I have to go and get the other books!
Loved it!

carmen dane was always a dominant. until she met thomas and learned that there could be something to submitting. when he hurts her and she runs away to have his twin boys without his knowledge, it looks like their relationship is irreparable.
but thomas knew the minute she left him that he needed to get her back. that there was no one else he wanted to submit before him. but he broke her trust. and the first rule of a bdsm relationship is that you must be able to trust your partner.
so for carmen and thomas it's a lot of two step forwards, one step back. because it doesn't matter how much carmen denies this, but she needs to submit to thomas. the only way she'll ever be truly fulfilled is to give him everything. she just needs to trust that he won't ever hurt her.
this is the conclusion to a series, but you don't miss anything in rule changer by not having read the first two books, it's easy enough to figure out what happened those.
