I've been following this series for a while, and it never disappoints. I love the cast of characters from the coffee shop, and the mystery plots are fun reads. I love Juliet's feisty personality and kick-ass she-devil alter ego. When her ex who stole all her money shows up needing help, she's in no mood to do anything for him until he turns up dead. Then, she just has to solve the mystery of who killed him before she gets charged with murder. It's light-hearted, romantic and well worth the read. Easy to grab a coffee and finish off the book without stopping.
Not exactly my cup of tea. I was very interested by the story line, a little mystery, a little romance, and a heroine who could fend for herself. Unfortunately I just couldn't get past the language. Well written and engaging characters but not what I am looking for in a relaxing read.
another great book in the series about java jive and the red hair PI. Fun to read.
As always this series is an outstanding read. It's comical the situations that Jules and Pete find themselves in. This is the perfect series for the cozy mystery and humor fan. I know I'm a huge fan and they are automatic reads for me.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Murder Over Mochas by Caroline Fardig is the best in the series!
From the very beginning, the story grabs your attention and it just keeps getting better and better.
Juliet Langley is such a great character, she is strong, independent and she loves with her whole heart.
She has grown more and more in each and every book and this story portrays her in such a way that you can't help but love her.
This story involves a blast from her past and tangles her in a web of deceit, revenge and lies.
Fans of this series will be excited to read Murder Over Mochas which releases on October 24, 2017.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
Great mystery, with interesting characters. If your looking for a quick read then I would highly recommend this book
When Juliet's scumbag ex-fiance drops dead in Java Jive, it sets off a chain of events leading to Juliet and ex-boyfriend Ryder teaming up on the investigation, visiting her hometown, and getting in and out of very dangerous spots. I liked this entry in the series because--finally--Juliet makes some big-girl decisions. She feels real and capable. I mean, I've always liked her fine as a character, but she was a little too timid and indecisive on the really important things (like singing and Pete) while being a "Redheaded She-Devil" on not-so-important things. So while I enjoyed the plot and wanted to know what happened to Scott, I actually enjoyed even more the fact that Jules put on some big-girl panties and took charge of her life. Yay!

I love the Java Jive series!
Caroline Fardig delivers a great plot filled with twists and humorous moments.
I was hooked from the first chapter, and it was difficult to put down.
In this installment, the author gives us a glimpse of the characters from her other cozy-mystery series set in Juliette's home town (Liberty).
Would definitely recommend it to any cozy-mystery fan.
Murder Over Mochas is a light murder mystery story that's hard to put down. When a death occurs in Juliet's coffee shop, she puts on her Private Investigator hat and travels through a web of deceit to solve the mystery. Winding throughout the story is a lovely romance to round the story out. This would be a great vacation read, as it is not too heavy, there's really no violence, and the ending is satisfying. I loved it!
Cosy mystery, sweet romance, with many familiar characters.
Will leave a review on Amazon under name of Connie
This is the first book of Caroline Fardig's that I have read. I really enjoyed it. Even though I haven’t read any other books in this series I didn’t feel lost. The really liked the characters in the book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Great storyline, lots of red herrings, surprising whodunnit and a happy ever after ending - what more can you ask for? I will be looking out for more of her books.
Investigation is the best in the series to date. Episode # 5 just may be the final in the series as Juliet comes to decisions in this episode of Java Jive Mysteries.
Scott, Juliet's ex who stole everything from her including the music box Pete gave her, arrives at the coffee house begging for help to find his kidnapped wife. Juliet & Pete find themselves involved in the investigation of Scott's death. Unethical business practices in pharmaceutical sales drag Ryder into helping Juliet back in her hometown and reprising his Seth personna.
Does she chose Ryder or Pete? Does she pursue her P.I. license or her music? Does she remain at Java Jive or move out and potentially move on?
All great moments in the latest edition of Java Jive Mysteries.
Juliet Langley works in a coffee shop, but her real work is as a private investigator. Her partner in the PI firm is Maya. Maya is engaged to one of Juliet's former boyfriends.
Juliet's former fiancee cheated on her, took her money, bankrupted the business they shared and stole all her possessions. He has now come to Jules to ask for her help. He wants her to help him find his wife. She has been abducted.
Before she can get all the information about what he needs, he dies right in front of Jules.
She decides that she will find out who murdered him. That is partly self preservation (she has become the prime suspect) and partly her curious nature.
This is a fast moving story. There are no slow spots. The plot is entertaining and kept things interesting.
I had a couple of issues. This is part of a series. I have not read the earlier books in the series, and at times, I felt lost because I was not familiar with relationships between characters.
Juliet evidently is big on relationships and a good portion of them were introduced before I got very deeply into the book. It seemed like a little much very quickly. I think if there were a little more buildup about who is who, I might have had an easier time of following things.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are my own.
The latest addition to Caroline Fardig's Java Jive Mystery series is wonderful. The storyline brings us full circle as Juliet's cheating ex-fiancée comes to her seeking her help and ends up dead, with her and Pete as the chief suspects. She reluctantly investigates with both Pete and ex-boyfriend Ryder and the subsequent mystery is crisp, suspenseful and fun. I especially appreciated the resolutions and progress Juliet had in her life. I feel like she finally grew up and I loved it!
Suspense, Humor, and Romance
Murder Over Mochas is the fifth installment in Caroline Fardig’s Java Jive Mystery series and is a well-written story, with well-developed characters, that moves along at a steady pace. Ms. Fardig has combined witty dialog with relatable characters and just the right blend of mystery and romance. There is mild adult language in this book, but no graphic violence or explicit sexual situations. There are enough twists and turns, action, and potential suspects to keep the reader engaged.
Juliet Langley manages Java Jive, a Nashville coffee shop, owned by her best friend, Pete Bennett. She moved to Nashville to rebuild her life after her fiancé, Scott O’Malley, broke her heart, stole her possessions, emptied her bank account, and ruined her café. She recently obtained her private investigator license and works with her friend, Maya Huxley, who is dating Juliet’s ex-boyfriend, Ryder Hamilton, who is a Nashville homicide detective. Imagine her shock when, a year later, Scott shows up at Java Jive and begs for her help finding his wife, who he believes may have been kidnapped because he has something valuable that belongs to some very bad people. His first visit ends with Juliet landing a blow into his nose; his second visit later that evening ends with a call to 911 and the arrival of the police and EMTs. It appears Scott may have been poisoned and Juliet and Pete are the prime suspects. Juliet and Pete team up with Ryder (who is on leave recovering from a bullet wound), and Maya to clear their names and solve the case.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

In a Flutter: A hoot!
Fluttering Thoughts:
Worldbuilding: God, I missed Java Jive and good old Nashville. The world of intrigue of Java Jive is full of tension as ever, with secrets waiting to be revealed.
Characters: Juliet as lively and snarky as ever. Now a PI and having one of her exes dating her boss – Jesus! – while flirting with her best guy friend and sleeping with young meet. You gotta love Juliet, hahaha. I mean, Cooper – nice nab, Jules! She’s such a riot. But the whole thing made me enjoy her a tinsy bit less. There’s no rhyme or reason to her personal life, I feel, and I generally find that annoying. Because I liked her already, it just made me take her less seriously. And the Peter thing didn’t really change my mind. If anything, it made me take them both less seriously in fact. Might be mean of me, but her, I am a self-declared evil readers, so…*shrugs*
Plot: The death of Scott is probably the most unlikely thing I might have ever imagined Juliet to investigate, so kudos on that. The tempo was nice and tense, and I enjoyed all the drama around solving this one. Plus, there’s a good serving of romance to go with the investigation – if you can take anything remotely romantic related to Juliet seriously, which I can’t tbh. But it’s entertaining as hell, I’ll tell you that.
Writing: First person, past tense narrative, Juliet’s POV. I’m irrevocably in love with her voice. Pete’s voice isn’t bad at all, but with Juliet in the story, nobody else stands a chance at becoming my fav.
Curb Appeal: Still iffy about these covers, but hooking blurb and autobuy series for my PI slash romantic mystery moods.
I had a lot of fun reading Murder over Mochas, and I love Juliet’s voice to no ends even when her actions as far as personal life goes sort of put me in an eye-rolling mood. These novels are very fun, and if you love irreverent snarky voices I totally recommend the series as a whole.
I recommend this baby to fans of PI mysteries, slow burn romances with sweet endings, and awesomely smarky MCs who get into almost as much trouble as they manage to get to the bottom of xD
An above average cozy with fairly interesting characters and adult relationships. Not stupidly silly nor erudite. A quick read with a satisfying end
Another good book from Caroline Fardig! I really enjoy this series, as she reminds me a little of Janet Evanovich when her Stephanie Plum books first came out.
Juliet, Pete & Ryder are back, this time, with Juliet's former fiance arriving unexpectedly, & of course, dying in front of her. She & Pete are the prime suspects & must clear their names. Twists & turns, guesses on "who did it" & a surprise reveal at the end.
A good "cozy" mystery, quick read & enjoyable.
Murder Over Mochas is another great cozy mystery in the Java Jive mystery series. It's well-written and interesting to the end. I love the characters and the side stories that revolve around their lives.
In this story Juliet comes face-to-face with the ex she hoped never to see again. After speaking a few minutes he dropped dead right in front of her. Pete and Juliet have to figure out what happened or they might be accused of his murder.
I'm looking forward to reading more books in the series.
This is the first book of Caroline Fardig's that I have read. I really enjoyed it. Obviously the main characters have a history from previous books, but it did not r.eally matter too much nor did it affect the story.
Juliet works for Java Jive, a coffeehouse owned by Pete, her best friend when her ex fiance who left her at the altar turns up asking her for help. As Scott, her ex left her for a waitress while emptying her bank account and taking stuff that belonged to Juliet, she was none too pleased to see him. But when Scott drops dead in her coffeehouse, and everyone is well aware of how she feels about him, she becomes the obvious suspect. In order to clear her name, she investigates and tries to solve the murder, helped by her good friends Pete, Ryan and Maya.
Great storyline, lots of red herrings, surprising whodunnit and a happy ever after ending - what more can you ask for? I will be looking out for more of her books.
