The publisher was kind enough to provide me with a copy of this book to review. All opinions are my own and honest.

I want to start by saying that I have never done hot yoga in my entire life and given that I have a syncope disorder where I pass out if I get too hot I never will. I have done yoga though, and I practice daily meditation. You do NOT need to do hot yoga to benefit from this book. The daily reading provides valuable insight for everyone. They are a short read that is easy to incorporate into your morning routine. The one line meditation focus gives you something to think about not only for a few minutes but throughout the day as well. I often found myself reading back on other day's meditations so I could remember what other things I should be thinking about. The layout of this book is perfect for those that are short on time but want to include daily meditations and mindfulness into their day. No hot yoga required!

I am not sure what I was expecting when I went into 365 Daily Meditations For On And Off The Mat, but what I got was a hilarious yet thought-provoking read.

The 365 meditations can be used as mantra during the yoga practice or during the meditation sessions.

As a yoga teacher I found this book highly insightful. Not only for my own personal practice but for my students as well. I still refer to it and find it a valuable addition to my classes.

I liked this book as it gave a full year of "me time". Once could go daily and take time to center and calm themselves and this books was a nice way to do it. It wasn't too advanced that some days seemed impossible.

Overall this book is great for anyone who is interested in yoga. It shows that some days are harder than others but its still a journey nevertheless.

Not a bad little guide for yogis. This book contains thoughts more than meditations that would be helpful for those beginning to practice yoga and hot yoga.

This was an engaging read. I picked it up thinking it would be a quick daily tidbit and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was more daily narrative. I enjoyed the growth in personal narrative that this book provided. I meditate daily as is, and having new meditation thoughts and inspiration was nice. They are mind expanding but not overly difficult to focus and complete. I think this is a good start to a person new to meditation.

Thank you to Dover Publications, Ixia Press, and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a great read, not just because it relates to hot yoga and provides 365 daily mediations with start date January 1, it can be useful to you whether you practice yoga or not.
I like that the author, Scott Ginsburg, uses his own experiences and that of others in hot yoga studio to address issues that we all can relate to, such as struggles to stick to our new year resolutions to exercise and how we do not exercise because of frivolous reasons , such as not having fancy gear and equipment, how we start new experiences with so many preconceived ideas instead of just diving in, realizing that yoga is practice and that every journey is different, self-acceptance, finding gratitude in everything. This sharing of the experiences makes us realize that we are more similar than we are different.
Each calendar day, has it own page and starts with an short anecdote, life lesson, and end with a question for the reader to mediate. I found the questions also great for daily journaling, for those who enjoy that practice. Great and meaningful reflections.
The set -up of this book makes it easy for the reader to take a short time out of busy schedule for selfcare and self-reflection, just a small page a day.
I really like the book and will make use of it starting January 1. It will make a great Christmas gift and interesting coffee table book. I highly recommend it.

This book is a great way to bring yoga into our everyday lives. With a practice for everyday of the year and a question to reflect upon this is a good book for the new year.

The subtitle 'a year in hot yoga' might give you the idea that an everyday yoga practitioner wouldn't benefit from reading this book, but don't let that fool you. I do everyday floor yoga and can relate most of this advice to my own practice. I don't think you need to be terribly proficient in your practice either. This is a book that could be helpful to both the novice and the sage and everything in between.

I enjoyed reading through these daily meditations. I am not a a committed yoga participant, but so enjoy it occasionally and these meditations and words of wisdom were both enlightening and enjoyable. Considering the words or suggestions could give many a good boost of encouragement in daily life whether active practicing yoga or not.

I am not sure what I was expecting when I went into 365 Daily Meditations For On And Off The Mat, but what I got was a hilarious yet thought-provoking read.

Whilst not for a beginner to meditation, 365 Daily Meditations will provide you a daily question that you can either meditate on or just discuss with friends and family. Ginsberg presents the daily question for you to meditate on by giving an anecdote on how he either was forced to ask himself this, or how he experienced it. He tells us through his experience with Bikram Yoga how these questions, and his own answers have made him grow as a person as well as helping his yoga practice.

I will give a few examples of what is inside 365 Daily Meditations as Ginsberg does have some words of wisdom.

‘Your posture is perfect; it just looks different than everyone else’s.’ – page 69

‘Not everything that matters can be measured, and not everything that is measured matters.’ – page 198

‘Yoga is like daily existence; it’s unpredictable and ever changing, but it’s better than the alternative.’ – page 349

Even if you do not think meditation is up your alley, 365 Daily Meditations For On And Off The Mat will still give you some very thought-provoking ideas and would certainly make for an interesting group discussion.

I have some experience in meditation, but have never attempted yoga because I thought I couldn't do it. By the time I finished reading the first 30 of the 365 daily meditations I was signed up for a yoga class. The authors very sincere explanations of his personal experiences are very motivating.

I thought I was really going to like this book and would find the entries interesting and informative, but this was not what I expected. It really just felt like a long list of tips for yoga/meditation rather than mindful meditations. I don't know, maybe I need more than what was offered, but it was okay.

This is a great book for enabling you to directly relate the benefits of yoga to your life. It would be an excellent companion to read daily for anyone just starting out or even those with lots of experience. It is relevant to all forms of yoga, not just 'hot', and it is different from all other yoga books on the market.. I love the authors writing style and think the book should be savoured slowly and thoughtfully. It is a good for grounding yourself and reminds you exactly what yoga is about and how beneficial it can be. Overall an excellent little book - thank you

Mr. Ginsberg talks to us, at the beginning of this book, about starting the year off strong. He directs us to not listen to the reporters who tell us that most people do not continue with New Year resolutions after a few months. That being said, I do not feel you have to start these meditations on January 1st. He starts off each meditation with a comment such as "Keep Evolving." He then discusses this topic. Most are two to four short paragraphs in length. Then he asks a question of the reader. For the "Keep Evolving" topic his question is "How are you still growing?" I really enjoy this structure. Often we read topics and when we come to the end we just go on to the next topic. The structure of this books, I feel, deters that and make it all more meaningful. Since it is set up for 365 days, there is no reason to read more than one topic a day. Well, maybe if you miss a day you should catch up and do two on the next day. Also, with the question given at the end of the topic, we are triggered to stop and think about what we just read. Yes, this is based on "Hot Yoga" and I am sure, with that being so popular it will attract those devotees, but I feel we can all gain from this book. It does say "on and off the mat, so do not totally disregard this book if you are not into Hot Yoga. I am giving this a 3.5 star rounding to 4. I give very few books a 5 star review, so this is my way of saying, it is pretty darn good.
