If you've followed Charley Davidson or not, this books is laugh out loud and OMG-worthy! When Charley and her band of natural and supernatural beings are on the case to find her husband, all hell (and heaven) breaks loose! The gift of friendship knows no bounds or celestial plane. Reading this made me think my friends' quirkiness pales by comparison - I LOVED IT and cannot wait for #13!

Charley is doing what she does, causing chaos!!! Not really, but her life is chaos. I think she the only girl character I have a crush on, or that I just think it would be awesome to be her. This series has never failed to make me laugh. Oh and the fact my Boobs have been named, but not by me!!!! Please keep them coming Darynda. Charley is a good source for a good laugh and sometime a good cry.

Another amazing adventure with Charley & Co!

I honestly don't know how Darynda Jones manages to weave so many stories in to one book so beautifully but she does.

This is an action packed, non-stop story. It is fast paced, funny, with a heart-stopping ending. I am on the edge of my seat for 13!!

P.S. Fun side note, I have listened to the audio book for almost this entire series. Lorelei King is the voice of Charley. And I totally heard her voice for each of these characters while reading it.

First up let me make it clear that if you are reading this without reading most of the previous books in this series you will be totally lost so this is NOT a starting point into the series.

After the last book and the "WTF just happened" ending you expected this one to start out with fast action and a battle .... not this book, things have a way of settling into a nice routine while still staying with the overarching plot. She has some minor cases to solve, some murders to solve and let us not forget getting her husband back.

Fun to be had by all and I loved it but let me make it clear about the 4 instead of 5 Stars. While the little witty comments at the start of each chapter are worth the price of the book like this one :

"Coffee: A warm, delicious alternative to hating everyone forever"

but the story is interspersed with an overdose of silliness in the "naming", sometimes bordering on plain old stupid IMHO. I also tend to take a dim view of anything to do with politics or religion being placed in my entertainment but this is almost like using caricatures of familiar religious icons and while I was not really bothered I can see where many readers would be and I really thought the whole "God" thing could have been done better with clearly fictional characters.

Throw in what is becoming the usual "WTF just happened" ending and you have a great book, it leaves you not exactly a cliff hanger but very close since we have become accustomed to them in this series but I have heard several people say that since book 13 will be the last one they are going to wait and read them together, not a bad idea but I don't regret reading this one, it was fun but left me screaming for the next one.

These books are very intense. The energy, the emotions, the frustrations are all so intense that it is difficult to stop reading even for a short time. As I found myself racing to the end of the book once again, I was petrified that Reyes was gone for good, that Charlie would be killed, and that Beep would be discovered by the worst possible creature. Never did I realize who would be tortured and killed. I am shocked and still haven't been able to stop going over the events in this 12th book.

Like the other books, the main characters are working together for justice and restitution. So much destruction has entered Charlie's life. Rocket's home has been destroyed. Reyes came out of the God glass by destroying it and releasing every creature that had been sent there. Horrible injuries have been caused and death has become too frequent of a visitor.

I was fascinated by the discovery of a set of children's books about Reyes, Charlie and Beep. There were so many things to follow that I felt like I was on overload. This book is races to its conclusion as the reader is a half step behind, trying to keep up.

This series MUST BE READ IN ORDER. Don't even THINK about reading this until you have read 1-11 in order. That is imperative! Incredible book!

I think it's no secret I love Charley Davidson - I love her snarky attitude, her friends (especially Cookie and Artemis), and her story. I was very happy with the way this continued from book 11 - we had big problems that were not easily solved - and there are many more obstacles to come - but the story progressed well - every book isn't rehashing the same old crises.

We learn more about Charley's past in this book, specifically the parts dealing with Reyes, and she continues to explore her powers. There is also a side story with a gangster that is killed, and another with an evil entity on a killing spree. Anyway, it is a great addition to the series, and the only thing I didn't like about it is that I'm now completely caught up and will have to wait before I see the Thirteenth Grave.

5 stars for this Charley Davidson delivery.
Darynda does not cease to amaze me with her ability to create stories, I do not think I will ever surpass this serie, and from now on I am crying because the next one will be the last one.
This time we have Charley looking for Reyes who went to the god glass to rescue the innocent people and came out converted into the God of war that was before ... Then they have to succeed in finding him and master him before he is found by the angels and annihilated .
In addition there are strange cases of murders and everything seems to indicate that Reyes is the culprit.
Garret and Osh are helping Charley find Reyes and try to dominate him, I love this group of friends, the way they support each other, unconditionality, solidarity, I LOVE them, I love how they support each other. I'm going to miss they so much.
Cookie, she's such a beautiful friend, I've never really seen a friendship like this, I love it.
This time also Pari has a problem and Charley comes to help her, needless to say that causes more problems, but always end up solved.
One particularity of this delivery is that there were not many stories of dead, almost everything is focused on looking for Reyes, and help Pari.
As in all of the before, Charley's sarcasm is the order of the day, and a plot that keeps you entertained from the first page, I do not understand where all the ideas and insanities come from, but I laughed out loud. Besides unexpected turns that I honestly did not see coming. I almost got my eyes out as I read.
As always the scenes between Charley and Reyes are spontaneous combustion, they had me sighing and blushing at every moment. The love between this couple is unique, as they are willing to fight for each other and their family at every moment, as they surrender and are willing to die for each other.
And Reyes, as sexy as ever, made my mouth water every time he showed up.
Secrets are discovered and I understood a lot more the origin of everything. And that end as always leaves you wanting more.
Really if you are a fan of Charley Davidson you can not miss this delivery, I guarantee you that is too good.

This book comes out on Halloween! I recently told you about the 1st book in the series, and I accidentally missed the 10th and 11th books, before reading this one, but I was able to catch up pretty quickly, as Darynda gives you just enough info to keep you rolling, but not enough to give away the previous books! This book is a bit of a triad of a cliff hanger, as part 1 was in the previous book, when Reyes escaped, and this book ends with a question as to the immediate future for Charley and Reyes, and the world! Once again, it is ADULTS ONLY, but other than one chapter, I would call it tamer than the earlier books in the series, as far as adult content goes. But in this book the characters are more developed, and Charley is on a roll with her comebacks and rants. Add in a couple of mysteries that need solving asap, and the world possibly coming to an end in 48 hours, and you have a roller coaster ride that keeps you reading pages late into the night! Don't miss it if you're a fan of the series, as a lot of questions get answered and more come about, setting up the next book!

A good continuation of the series

This was a fun book to read. As usual, Darynda Jones tells a great story with very snappy wording and excellent. Her characters are well developed and the action sequences are well paced. I found the book hard to put down. I recommend it for fans of the genre who want a lighter read.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley for review purposes.

I just finished reading an advance copy of Darynada Jones "The Trouble with Twelfth Grave." This is a series I have really enjoyed and will be sad to see end after the next book. Charly who is a private detective and this book starts out with her at a woman house who thinks she is being haunted by another woman and a little boy. What she doesn't know is that she is actually the one haunting the house and the woman and the little boy are who granddaughter and great-grandson. This book is a little all over the place with Charly trying to save Reyes from the god glass that she put him in and then when he gets out from himself. This story has twists and turns that keep you guessing what is going to happen next. If I were going to have one complaint it would be the overwelling number of characters in this books. Overall it was funny, quirky, and heartbreaking. If you haven't read the rest of the series I would start at the first book otherwise you will be lost.

In this, the twelfth book in the series, Charley is dealing with so much more than she ever thought possible. She is still coming to terms with being a god (small g), a wife and protecting Beep. And of course that all in addition to being a private investigator and the grim reaper. But it’s all a piece of cake for Charley. Right? Malevolent god on the loose. Check. Hell dimension with the gates wide open. Check. Coffee brewing? Duh. Who could stop a malevolent god without being fully caffeinated? Let’s just hope that there’s enough caffeine to not only stop this god, but get him the hell out of her husband’s body. Pun totally intended.
How do I even begin to write a review on a book that is so epic? Little did I know that I would be getting drawn into a world of grim reapers, gods, demons, angels and all kinds of ghosts when i read First Grave on the Right. A snarkey main character will always draw me in, but Charley is so much more. And I have completely fallen in love with her, Reyes, Cookie, Ubie, Garrett, Amber, Quentin, Osh, Gemma, Rocket, Strawberry, Angel, Blue, and even Agent Carson. This fictional world is so epic because of Charley’s immense and incredible group of friends and family. Every single one of them is amazing. And I love them all. I couldn’t pick a favorite character, any more than I could pick a favorite book in this series. They are all fabulous! If you haven’t read it, go get started now.
I give 12th grave 5 stars! I can’t wait to read what happens next!

As always, I enjoyed this latest Charley Davidson novel. I have never disliked any books in the series but there are some that I like slightly less than other (aka they get 4 stars instead of 5). Twelfth Grave is one of those books. It wasn't one thing that put this book lower on my list; it was a bit of everything. The subplots weren't as interesting as they usually are, Jehovah is weird and kind of annoying (strange sentence to type), and when the whole Reyes plotline was solved, the way it ended-although interesting and unexpected to me-not only made the whole book feel pointless but also didn't make total sense.
Pros:
I fall more in love with Garrett every book.
I was happy to learn a bit more about people who can see into the supernatural world.
Michael coming to Earth every time he has to stare down Charley deserves its own series. I want to hear his inner monologue. I imagine it to be something along the lines of "Not again." Over and over and over.
The ending! The next book needs to be like 1000 pages long because there is so much to wrap up if it's going to be the last. And I will inhale all 1000 pages happily.

4.5 stars.

The Charley Davidson series is the only Urban Fantasy/Paranormal series that has kept me hooked for so long. I could reread this series every year and not get tired or bored. After the cliffhanger in book #11, I couldn't wait to get my hands on The Trouble with Twelfth Grave. Like in every book there is humor, romance, quirkiness, sadness, suspense, heartbreak and so much more. Every character plays such an essential role in making this one of the best series ever. In this book we learn new things and get more of our questions answered. The next book will be the last one, so everything is being build-up to the grand finale.

At the end of the previous book, Reyes is not quite himself, and in this book Charley and the gang need to find a way to get through to him. However that isn't as easy as it sounds. Furthermore, Charley also has other cases she's working on, and has friends that need her help as well. Charley has so much on her plate, but she would give her life for the people she cares about. She is one of the most incredible, honest, self-sacrificing person ever. I can't really say too much without spoiling the book, and also the blurb tells more than enough about what to expect. I don't think the fans of this series will be disappointed with this installment. However, I don't know why but this book was over before I knew it. It felt very short to me and it left me wanting more of everything. I am just addicted to Charley Davidson series, and will impatiently wait on the last book. Which I'll probably read with tears in my eyes.

Reyes went into an alternate dimension to free those trapped. The Reyes that has returned in to Charley is not the same and Charley is doing everything she can to get him back. Someone may have been freed that is unexpected as there have been similar attacks on seemingly random people. Charley is juggling a lot in this book - figuring out what to do with Reyes, who is doing the killings and why as well as helping Amber. Humor and some major twists kept the pages turning with a cliffhanger that had me almost throwing the book across the room!

**4.5-5 stars**
Dear Darynda, why must you do this to me with your endings?! *Gah* Ok self… try and remain calm until Book 13 comes out.

The Trouble with Twelfth Grave is the second to last book in the fantastic Charley Davidson series. *Cries* When we last left Charley and the gang, Reyes had just come out of the god glass she’d put him in and was not the same person as Charley’s husband. Now what would Charley do? Would this Reyes cause chaos and destruction? Would he harm the people Charley loves? Was there any part of her Reyes still inside? And Reyes isn’t the only one that came out of the god glass…

With murders and mysterious deaths to solve, along with stopping her “husband” before he can wreak havoc on the world and making tough decisions about what do to with Reyes should it come to that, Charley has her hands full. Thank goodness, she has her family and friends to help her along the way.

Another great book in the series! Darynda is wonderful at giving us the laugh-out-loud moments to soften the “dark” times. I can’t get enough of the Charley Davidson series and I’m going to be so sad when it’s over. But I know Darynda will have amazing books ahead for us. And now the wait until the final book…*sigh*

Oh how I love Charley. And Rhys. And Cookie, Amber, Uncle Bob, Angel, Garrett, and just everyone in this universe.

Darynda Jones did a superb job of playing and toying with my emotions in this book, to the point when the book was over, I didn't think it was true. Surely not! Surely she didn't leave us with a cliff hanger?! SHE DID! That evil genius!

And thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this advanced copy!

Yeah! Charley's back! I read the book in one sitting, got to the last page and was ready to start the next (last?) book in the series. No spoilers. Basically, just when you think you have things figured out, everything shifts again - kind of like a kaleidoscope.
