Review will be published when the books is published as well**
I don’t feel comfortable with being this close to the finale in the series. Charley Davidson is my life, how am I supposed to live without her?
Jones’s narrative is so fun to read, it’s almost impossible for me not worship every book in this series, even if they are very predictable ones.
Honestly, nothing really epic and game changing happens in The Trouble with Twelfth Grave, I mean, there was the thing with the blessing, but that’s it. However, reading these books make me happy, I don’t know how am I supposed to WAIT for the next one, knowing is THE LAST one.

I bloody love this series and I'm made up that I got to read the arc courtesy of net galley and the publishers St. Martin's Press.
If it's the first time you have heard of Charley Davidson (where have you been?) I would recommend reading the rest of the series first to get the most out of this book.
More of Charley's and Reyes' past life is brought into the light of day and as usual Charley has her hands full dealing with a murder investigation, assisting her bff's daughter set up her own business, drinking coffee, making sexy time (winks) and generally being her snarky, ass kicking self. It's a super quick read and just pure FUN.
There's a cliff hanger ending and I'm already anxiously counting down the days until the next book in the series is released.
Wow!! The Trouble with the Twelfth Grave took me on an emotional roller coaster ride. It had me going from laughter to tears and a couple of times it had me wanting to throw my kindle across the room.
Charly has had a hard life but having her husband turn into the 'Big Bad' again might just be more than she can handle.
I was taken off guard by the ending of this one, but it just makes me want the next book that much sooner...
Well folks, she’s done it again. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Darynda Jones pulls not only the rug out from under you, but the entire house as well.
Picking up where we last left off, our Charley is her funny, snarky, well-intentioned self. She’s working a case while trying to figure out the drama that is now her life. Her husband (and the son of Satan) isn’t himself these days. And in the Davidson style, she is doing her best to root out the man she loves while trying to keep all her pots boiling. It’s a funny, scary, sexy ride for sure.
Alas, no spoilers here, but I will give you some highlights of what’s to come.
A blast from the past.
Someone thought lost is found.
The man himself.
Coffee, coffee, coffee.
Shopping carts and stripper poles.
The gang’s all here.
One of the best books in the series.
That’s it. The wait is almost over and I can’t wait for everyone to dig in.
The Trouble with Twelfth Grave hits the shelves October 31st and candy won’t be the only thing you’ll be devouring by the end of the night!
12 Stars Stars!!

I loved it! All the books in this series have been excellent! When Charley is on a case everything she does is exciting and amusing and then thrilling when it all ties together in the end. She values her friends and when she brings them in it's so entertaining when they mix. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down - it's sooooo good. My mind is still rolling around all that happened. This author is fantastic!
Well Darynda you did it again. I love the Charley Davidson books and this one was just as fun and shocking as all the others. The ending... Oh my!
I always seem to end up feeling sorry for poor Garrett in all of the books but never more so than in this one although his predicaments were funny too, sorry Garrett. Mr. Wong made a very well timed appearance and we get a visit with Beep. All good things in my book. I am definitely waiting with baited breath for book 13 and hoping desperately that is won't really be the last one.
Oh, wow, I just loved reading this book! This series has been amazing from the beginning, and now that it just has one more book after this one, it means a lot more to me! This is one series I wish wouldn't end, but if it has to, spin off!
After the ending of Eleventh Grave, well, I needed this book, along with everybody else. So of course the beginning of this book is totally random and makes you read more to find out what's happened between that book and this one.
So, there's the threat of the god that Reyes was made of, and now is. There's the hell dimension within our own which isn't good. There's the Q&A Investigations. There's the burning bodies that may be Reyes' handiwork. Oh, and the Catholic Church in regards to Beep. So much, and so good to read!
That ending! After everything was going good, problems were solved-and it turns out that if they'd acted 5 minutes sooner, the bad thing wouldn't have happened. Which led to an ending that kills us! Gah! I think it's physically painful, this ending, for us readers!
Absolutely loved this book, and man, the wait for 13 is going to be absolutely evil!
Reyes has returned from the God Stone changed. Charley becomes embroiled in a serial killer case with paranormal overtures . Time is running out to find the killer, find Reyes, find answers as we race towards the next and last book of this fast paced snarky dialog series. Action packed, threads being tied up, and the question will there be a HEA? Excellent book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from Netgalley.
What do you say about book 12 in a series??? Maybe "I Want More!"
Charley finds herself without a husband after he returns from the God Glass in his true form. Things seem to happen in a quick fashion for the PI/Grime Reaper/God.
There is a crazy priest set free wrecking havoc. There is her husband running a muck and angry. There is Michael making sure she doesn't break the One Rule. There is not enough Cookie/Bob/Amber/Quinten/Osh/Beep/Garrett.
But what there isn't enough of there is that Charley whit, fun, aloofness. Nothing can compare to the knit family she has created.
I have enjoyed this series and am looking forward to the next book. But this series is going on too long. I am ready for a new series from her
I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All the fan girl gushing is strictly my opinion.
How does Darynda Jones do it? How does she keep making every new Charley Davidson better than the one before? This was completely un-put-downable. I read it straight through in less than six hours, and now all I want to do is go back and read the series all over again.
This book has Charley battling Reyes after he comes back from Hell, saving people, sending souls to Heaven, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and being her snarky self.
Another amazing installment in the series. Being the 12th book in the series it still keeps you on the edge of your seat with everything that is happening. Holy freaking cliffhanger batman! Can't wait to for the next installment!
OH MY GOD!! Those last few chapters were WOW! Now I have to wait for the 13th and last ;-( book. I hope Jones picks the story up in the future with Beep and Osh!
If you haven't read any of the Charley Davidson books before, I hereby implore you to start with book 1, First Grave on the Right. You will be very confused if you start with book 12 of 13, to say the least. That said, spoilers follow.
Reyes went into the god glass and saved all the poor lost souls, but at what cost? Rey'azikeen seems to have come out of the glass with no sign of the lovable bad-boy and husband of Charley Davidson. But that's not all. Charley doesn't tell anyone for three days about Rey'azikeen's emergence from Reyes, and then Michael says that is all the time she had to prevent an army from being brought against him. Ok, well, he gives her one more day. With people being burned alive with no sign of fire and fingernail marks on them, a renegade god, Peri under suspicion of murder, and Amber wanting to start her own private investigation agency, Charley has a little bit more than she can handle on her plate. Will she be able to pull it all together in true Charley fashion, or will something fall through the cracks? Be ready for a funny and frantic ride with Charley, Cookie, Garrett, Osh, and all the gang!
Where does the Mighty Mrs. Jones come up with her ideas for Charley and crew? At the end of book eleven, Reyes had been sent into the God Glass and when he came out, he wasn't quite himself. Now, he's searching for something, Charley is on a timeline to turn Reyes back into her husband, and help her uncle solve a series of strange murders. Just another day at the office for Charley. Not to be outdone from the last book, spoiler alert here, she once AGAIN leaves readers with a massive cliffhanger!
No, it's not just a "I love Charley" automatic 5-star review!!! If I was able, this would be an off-the-chart, to the heavens rating.
Seriously.
My full review will be closer to release date but I'll tell you this much: full disclosure, closure, cliff-hanger (duh and ouch), and dagger to my tender heart a few times. Yes it's short, yes it can and will be read in a day, but it is SO Good.
And NO, you can NOT jump in and read this without reading the other books in order. Silly reader. Get started NOW!
I am NEVER disappointed with Darynda Jones! All of her books of the "Grave" series are funny, suspenseful, romantic, the stories just flow and always, ALWAYS leave you with wanting more. Charley, Uncle B, Cookie, they become your family, you just can't get enough, I won't even begin to explain Reyes.....you read them from the beginning, you will be hooked and just waiting for the next. You will laugh, cry, and literally gasp at the outcome of the stories, love, love love this author!
