Charley has done it this time. She sent her husband, the Son of Satan, into a Hell dimension to do a little recon and he came out with a bad attitude. A really bad attitude. And he is not himself. Well, mostly not. Charley is hoping against all hopes that some part of her husband is still inside Reyes. That he hasn’t gone completely Dark Side. But she can’t track him on her own. She’s tried. So, she has to ‘fess up to her crew what she has done. Of all the screw ups Charley has done, this is quite the doozy. But, of course, it’s not the only thing on her plate. When does she ever only have one crisis to deal with at a time? Um, never? So, she has to do something about her Sithy husband and handle all of her everyday tasks, such as her PI business, helping the recently deceased to cross, watching out for her friends and her daughter, and solving some murders. You know, the usual.

In the words of George Takei…Oh, Myyyyyy! Where do I, how do I, even start with this? If you pick up this book as an entrance into the series I’m going to look at you like you’ve lost your mind. And I just might have to hurt you. Just a little. There is no way you can start here. So, shoo. Go back to book 1 and start there. Trust me on this. If you have ridden this crazy awesome ride with me then just know this book does not disappoint. Humor, mystery, tears, action, excitement, paranormal shenanigans, sarcasm, more humor, hot sexiness, and gut punches. This series still delivers it all. And that double ending?! What is it with Darynda Jones and her endings? Here’s the end…nope. Just kidding. Here’s the real end…wait for it…GAH! WTF?! She gets me with this Every.Single.Time. There are several WTF moments, but that’s par for the course in every book. Knowing that there will be those WTF moments does not lessen their impact. At.All. Each time is like a gut punch. But those endings. OMG. You are killing me Ms. Jones. Killing.Me.

The Trouble with Twelfth Grave, by author Darynda Jones, is the Twelfth installment in the Charley Davidson series. The story picks up 3 days after the ending of Eleventh Grave in Moonlight. As the synopsis really gets the the meat and potatoes of the basic storyline of what happens in this book, I shall do my best to endeavor not to spoil anything. Know this, as this is the 12th book in the series, and with only One book left before the series comes to a close, things happen in this series that will leave you screaming, laughing, and crying. You've been warned.

Charley Davidson aka the Grim Reaper aka the Goddess known as Elle Ryn Ahleethia aka mother to Beep, and wife to Reyes Alexander Farrow, has her hands filled with everything from a haunting, to the GOD telling her to clean up the Reyes mess or else, to someone killing people in a downright gruesome manner, to the Vatican snooping around trying to gleam information about Charley and Reyes daughter, to a criminal who attacks one of Charley's best friends. So for now, let me say that Charley is lost without Reyes. She is also totally and absolutely obsessed with him when he is around.

Her body melts like cheese whenever he is anywhere around him. Even when she wants to kill him for going off the reservation. Even though she knows it wasn't really her fault that Reyes is in the situation he is in, Charley is still expected to figure out how to get Reyes out of his situation before a hoard of Angels hunts him down. This book, not unlike the past few books in the series, features almost every single character that has been introduced from the first book forward.

There is the usual suspects who she calls her Scooby Gang (Cookie, Garrett, Osh, Uncle Bob, and Angel) who all work to reign in Reyes before he can destroy the world, or be destroyed by the Archangel Michael. Then there's the tertiary characters like Amber Kowalski, Nicolette Lemay, Sister Mary Elizabeth, Special Agent Kit Carson, Gemma Davidson, and Pari.

This book is fast paced and an emotional roller coaster ride that will leave you eager to find out how Jones is going to suss everything out that has happened recently. This book reads very quickly. Seems like I had just started reading the book, and then BAM! the author nearly killed me with that ending! I know that we are down to the final installment which is sad. But, do we really have to wait an entire year? So not fair!

The volumes pass and follow one another and I begin to find the time long, as if there was no end to this saga. That's how I felt when I read this twelfth volume. On the other hand, I can only congratulate Darynda Jones for her always overflowing imagination to lead Charley's thrilling adventures.

In the previous volume, we had let Charley realize that Reyes is no longer really good old Reyes but something, someone much darker. The book opens with a chapter summarizing the events, with this humorous touch so dear to Charley, while she is busy at the same time with a haunted house. Charley is equal to herself, I was astonished at her lack of humour and attention deficit/the speed at which she is able to solve cases.

Otherwise, sorry for those who long for Reyes and his hot aura, there will only be one sexy scene to flush your eye!

As a result, Reyes is not himself, Charley can concentrate on important things like a series of mysterious murders, his girlfriend Pari who asks him for help but also how to get the real Reyes back.

With its usual efficiency, Charley succeeds in solving everything in no time at all! Unfortunately, it doesn't end so well because one last twist still upsets everything!

In short, yes, I'm beginning to find the saga long but I don't feel capable of abandoning Charley for all that and especially not with this sick cliffhanger. And what's more, it seems that the thirteenth volume will also be the last one!

Don’t really understand what happened? Let me offer an explanation

I would like to thank Darynda Jones, St. Martin’s Press/Macmillan, and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you’re a Charley Davidson virgin and thinking about starting with book 12—just don’t. Start with #1 and thank me later.

My initial review was more of a very thorough book report—I just had so much I wanted to say about this series! This is an abridged version. If you want to read the full version, it’s on my site: noapologybookreviews.com.

When I first began reading this series, it didn’t take me long to come up with a three-word description: supernatural Stephanie Plum. Charley Davidson has totally evolved into her own thing by now, but at the beginning, it seemed like a formulaic clone, whether it was intentional or not. But in twice the number of books, Stephanie Plum is still pretty much doing the same ol’, same ol’. Charley Davidson, on the other hand, has grown as a person and as a plot, and so has her supporting cast.

I love Charley. I have to admit, there were a few times when I got impatient with her antics. Overall, though, I love that almost nothing goes right for her. It makes for a great character and fun fiction.

Reyes has his heart-melting moments, but I don’t think I love him as much as I’m supposed to. I understand that he represents a paradox, a being who was literally created in the fires of hell but who isn’t inherently evil and has the capacity to love unconditionally—but I think he’s kind of an ass.

There’s an amazing supporting cast. I love most of them dearly, but some of them I could live without. Cookie’s the ultimate bestie. I have special places in my heart for Uncle Bob and Angel. I liked Garrett better before he went to hell, but I still look forward to seeing him.

And Osh. I love Osh. He’s my favorite character next to Charley. There’s just something about him that’s so utterly captivating.

Jones’ writing, stylistically, is concise and easy to follow. Not overly complicated sentences, no pretentious word choices. What astounds me is how well she channels the easily distracted, erratic mind of someone with ADHD, and she makes it work. She allows Charley her tangents, but keeps a tight rein on them. The focus, the tone, of a scene is never lost. Structurally, her writing is inspirational. More often than not, I don’t see the twists coming, and the pace is fast, but not so fast that there isn’t time for exposition and character development.

However, there are far too many subplots. At times there’s simply too much going on, too many threads and character backstories to keep track of. They all get tangled. I had to learn to shrug off minor loose ends. Compounding the issue is that from book to book, Jones works hard to top herself and build on the story that she’s established, which is commendable, but by so doing, she seems to rewrite some of her own mythology. And her rules and limits for supernatural abilities lost me a while back.

But honestly, at this point, I don’t care. These books are so fricken entertaining than I learned to just accept what I’m told at any given moment and go with it. Ultimately, it’s the characters that matter, not the mythology, and I love the characters, so I let the conflicting information go.

Major spoilers ahead. BEWARE.

Now, as far as book 12 specifically, there was one thing I just could not understand, and it’s a pretty important thing. Like, the basis for the entire plot. I couldn’t understand what was going on with Reyes. I didn’t get what was illusion and what was real. Was he Reyes or wasn’t he? I stewed over it for days—and I figured out what was tripping me up. Well, as far as my interpretation, of course.

So Rey’azikeen was the original, then his energy was used to create Rey’aziel, who was reborn in a human body named Reyes.

When Jones says R-keen’s “energy” was used to create R-ziel, I envision him losing only a fraction of his essence, like Voldemort making a horcrux. I had it in my head that R-keen was still a separate entity running around in the cosmos somewhere, waiting to escape and wreak havoc, but I think what Jones meant by R-keen’s “energy” was all of his celestial form. Then it would make more sense, because there is no R-keen still running around. R-keen in his entirety was turned into R-ziel; a god was turned into a demon prince. Then the demon prince, aka the god, turned himself into a human. He crammed all his celestial energy as well as his demonic energy into a human shell. So Reyes, R-ziel, and R-keen are all the same; he is one being whose form has been changed over millenia—but his mind and heart remained constant. The state and opinions of that mind and heart changed, though, as everyone’s does, when he learned to love and experienced hardships that taught him to appreciate that love and life itself. And thus Reyes as we know him, the product of all that history.

But Charley was leery of that truth—and it’s Reyes’ fault! He was the one always telling her that she’d change once she remembered who/what she truly was. He had no faith whatsoever that she’d still love him, that she’d stay with him once she realized she was a god shacked up with a glorified demon. So when Charley learned that he’d been more than Satan’s son, she became afraid that when he, in turn, heard his celestial name, he would change and become evil. So Reyes had his work cut out for him when he did finally hear his celestial name and Charley was scared he’d turn on her at any moment. He had to prove to her that wouldn’t happen, prove once and for all that he was Reyes, period, and there was no chance he’d ever turn on her or their child, just as she’d had to prove to him that she had always and would always love him. He also had to prove to his Brother that he’d grown up, that he was no longer that naughty god who’d needed to be locked away for the sake of the cosmos. So when he let them believe he’d reverted to the R-keen mindset, to R-keen attitudes, as if being Satan’s son and Reyes the human had never happened, he was just making a very elaborate demonstration.

BUT Reyes himself wasn’t 100% sure that he would escape the god glass unscathed, so on the chance that he came back influenced by something malevolent, he somehow (just accept it) altered his own memory so he wouldn’t remember Beep existed. He came back knowing there was one thing more precious to Charley, to Jehovahn, than anything else, and it was the only thing he could use to prove his true nature and trustworthiness—he just couldn’t remember exactly what it was or where to find it.

If I’m wrong, please, for the love of Reyes’ Brother, correct me. Regardless, though, THAT is way too fricken complicated. It doesn’t seem so complicated when it’s all laid out in a couple of paragraphs like that, but when it’s delivered in disorganized bits and pieces throughout several different books, and there’s time in between those books when you forget most of the details, it’s not so easy to see. So you’re welcome. If that’s right.

I speculate on the future of the series at noapologybookreviews.com.

Things are seriously not good on this plane of existence. Charley is paying a serious price from the consequence on wanting to pacify some sort of celestial guilt of innocent souls trapped in hell plane designed for her hubby. Why she thought it was a great idea to sacrifice her love without thoroughly thinking things through and setting up million safety nets. No idea! I don’t think like Charley does... maybe I need more coffee. Anywho... now that s***— hit the fan, it is time to hit the 'undo' button.

Except there is no such thing. With Reyes on the loose, among other things. Charley must solve cases and wrangle her gone-to-the-dark-side-hubby and deal with whatever else is thrown her way. Seriously the girl spreads herself way too thin sometimes.

This book was the most action-packed in the series in my opinion. I almost got an ulcer from worry.

Now the ending... the ending I am going to leave for you to get to yourself. But once you finish I will be waiting for you with tissues and wine. No! Coffee can not solve this problem.

It's always a pleasure to read Charley and discover all her adventures; this book is no exception to the rule. Reyes is no longer himself since he returned from his hell dimension but Charley still believes in him and she’s convinced that there is still a part of him inside the god he is now. She will try to find him while conducting the investigation to find a murderer and she will also cover a murder to save a friend.
And yes Charley will still have a busy week but as always she will be helped by Cookie, Uncle Bob, Osh and Garrett.
I liked this book, more than the previous one, we find the atmosphere of the first Charley and what happens to her is always extraordinary. In spite of all that happens to her, Charley keeps her legendary humor that is her protective shell, she tries to help everyone and in the end she doesn’t always succeed.
I'm not going to talk about the story any longer but know that all the characters you love are present, as far as I'm concerned I love Osh, I like his little demon side and the fact that he wants to protect Charley and Beep is great.
I look forward to the book 13, yes I know, the 12 is not out yet I want more but you will understand when you read it because Darynda Jones is torturing us with this end. At some point will Charley and Reyes be happy? Can we expect a happy ending for them and Beep or is that the problems falling on them are just beginning?
In any case, Darynda Jones has still succeeded; this book is full of action, humor and adventure.

At the end of Eleventh Grave when Reyes comes out of the God Glass hell-dimension, he frees all the souls who were wrongfully imprisoned there by an angry priest. The bad news: Reyes was changed, and not for the better. Charley wants to believe her Reyes, her husband, is still in there somewhere, but it looks as if Rey’azikeen is in charge now, and he is not happy about it (it’s okay, I lived through the first incarnation of Angelus on Buffy, I’ve totally got this).

Besides keeping her possibly-now-evil husband from being taken down by a host of Heavenly Angels, Charley also has to ponder what else may have gotten out of the God Glass. Then there’s someone (or something) on a killing spree in which Charley needs to assist Uncle Bob, her friend Pari is a possible suspect in a homicide, and Cookie’s daughter Amber needs Charley’s help in setting up her own P.I. business. All in a day’s work.

Darynda Jones really left us hanging at the end of the last book so I was excited to finally get the continuation and as Twelfth Grave marks the penultimate book in the series, I was ready for wherever she chose to take us.

Even as I write this review, I’m finding it difficult to pin down my feelings about it. On the one hand, it’s Charley. I thought the jokes and the beginning of the chapter memes, T-shirt sayings, bumper stickers, etc. were especially funny. The quick wit and dangerous situations in which Charley finds herself are all up to par with what we’ve seen before. So it was an enjoyable read for me. I was happy to be back with the characters in the world. I loved seeing Charley embrace her powers so effortlessly. And honestly, evil Reyes is nothing to scoff at.

On the other hand, besides the Reyes storyline, I felt like everything else was filler. Little did I know how the devious Ms. Jones would clutter the book full of so much, thereby using clever misdirection that leads us to a rather shocking ending I didn’t see coming. Not knowing the full consequences of the ending I feel like my feelings toward this book will remain in limbo until I can see where we’ve been led in the final book. So, yes, it’s a cliffhanger, not as dire as some I’ve read, but definitely makes one want to have that next book in hand now.

While Charley Davidson remains one of my favorite series, I felt like Twelfth Grave, minus that ending, was more of a slow build up for the last book. I love spending time with these characters, and I’ll be sad to see them go, but I look forward to seeing where things end up in comparison to where they started in First Grave on the Right.

I have been a fan of Darynda and the Charley Davidson series since the very first one and i'm happy to say that while there have been a few misses in the series, this one was a HIT!
We have Charley who sent her beloved to a hell dimension, at his request and couldn't get him back. When he finally did emerge he had changed.
Murders started happening
Everyone was convinced her once rammed husband had turned back into the evil and malevolent God from whence he came
Everyone except Charley.
She refuses to believe that her husband, the father of her child is gone, lost to the evil God Rayzekeem.
Even though he's acting as if he hates her, as well as he is tormenting others to find something, something he needs.
Mixed into this main story line is, as always, about three more things for Charley to solve. Murder, missing school supplies and a few conversations with THE MAN himself.
But what really sold me, as if i wasn't before, was the ending! Man, Dayrnda knows how to pack a punch!
Charley’s story is far from over and I am loving it!

I was as always very impatient to discover this twelfth volume for the adventures of Charley Davidson. How not to be? This series is a real treat! However, the author recently announced that the 13th volume would be the last one and it is true that finally it happens very quickly!

Charley is overwhelmed as always! She no longer knows where to put her head between her friend who thinks she may have killed someone and that Charley has to help her, a killer who seems to be attacking all people sensitive to paranormal (Reyes?), Reyes who came back but is no longer the man she married and who wants to find something more than anything else, the other beings who came back with him at the same time, some books of stories that seem to tell her own story, or the new company Amber and Quentin created and well… her work. In short you understand, many things here!

I really had a good time with this novel. A lot of things happen, and we are led by the chapters, waiting to see what the next events will be. I admit that I also waited for every appearance of Reyes to know what had happened exactly … It is true that it is complicated, especially when we see that it is not possible to trust him. Charley is doing all she can to try to find solutions to stop him without hurting him, but it is a delicate thing. In any case, I admit that I did not expect this situation to turn like that at the end of the story, it was well found.

We feel that problems are emerging. They will surely explode in the next volume as it is the last one and I confess that I am really impatient to see what Darynda Jones reserves us now!

Duuuude. These books are never long enough. I try, I really try to take my time with each book so it’ll last, but it’s impossible! We’re twelve books into the series with one book left *sobs uncontrollably* and it’s still amazing as ever.

So much happens in The Trouble with Twelfth Grave! Charley has to deal with the consequences of what happened in the previous book, because, damn, things went downhill fast. Of course, things can’t be simple. While dealing with Reyes and that deadly predicament, she also juggles other cases. You know how Charley always seems to find herself running on caffeine, no sleep, and dealing with a million things at once! It’s one of my favorite aspects of the series though. I love the multiple storylines and how they tend to eventually merge in some way.

I can’t express enough how much I love these characters. Like, massively! Obviously, Charley is at the top of the list. There’s no chance of boredom with her around because she for sure brings the humor! I love, love, love when the whole gang gets together, especially when Charley leads them into some shenanigans. But lordy, the duo of Garrett and Osh is so freaking extra.

I could seriously go on about all of the things I love about this book, but spoilers, sweetie. I mean, if you’ve already started the series, then you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t yet, then you are missing out on one of the best series ever. Just do not read out of order.

I’m so sad the series is coming to an end, but I’m happy that each book continues to blow me away. There are plenty of series that I’ve lost interest in, but I’m always left desperately craving the next Charley Davidson book.

"Do you have torture supplies?"
"Not on me, but there's a twenty-four hour Walmart nearby"

Charley's twelfth adventure in the series is another wonderfully entertaining, laugh out loud, holy-moly what will happen next, adventure. If you've never read a Charley Davidson book, please do not pass go, please do not collect $200. This is not a stand alone book and each one builds upon the last. You have been warned. I'll try to keep the spoilers to a minimum but if you haven't read the other books, you are in for some surprises. This story is setting up for the big finale in book thirteen and I was on pins and needles reading this one.

Charley, as usual, has gotten herself into a pickle. This is nothing new for our Charley. When last we left our fearless and impetuous heroine, her sexy husband Reyes Alexander Farrow, had entered the God glass in order to rescue those who had been trapped there against there will. Once he comes out, however, Reyes isn't exactly himself.

"The man before me was not my husband. Not entirely.
Smoke and lightning curled around him. It caressed him like a lover. Obeyed him like a slave If he shifted, it shifted. If he breathed, it breathed. It flowed and ebbed at his will, the lightning flitting over his skin.
He wasn't in the storm. He was the storm."

Rey'azikeen has awoken and he is pissed. At everything. but especially at Charley. Or more accurately, at Elle Ryn Ahleethia. In a blink of an eye, he is gone, and Charley is left in a bind. How to get her husband back and how to protect those she loves? When the mutilated bodies of individuals who are sensitive to the paranormal world begin t. In fear that her possessed husband may be behind the murders, she enlists Angel, Garrett and Osh to help her track him down. She quickly realizes that he is after something and he believes she has it and he is willing to do anything to get her to tell him where it is and she's just as willing to get her husband back.

"It's weird how you can be in love with someone one day, and hunting them for sport the next. -MEME"

With her team in place and her heart, and the world, on the line, Charley has her work cut out for her. Because when the ones she loves most are in danger, Charley has to make the ultimate choice and it may change the fate of everything.
"Charley, damn it."
"I keep telling people, Damn it is not my last name. It's not even my middle name."

Another hilariously funny, sexy, endearing, and phenomenal read by an amazingly talented author. I swear this series just keeps getting better and leaves me wanting more. Thirteen can not come soon enough, and the promise of a Beep spin off is the only thing keeping me from a full on Charley hangover. I also plan a listening to the entire series again because no matter how many times I have, there's always some clue that I've found and hope that I can figure out what might happen next. Five star read and serious contender for favorite of the year.

Always a great ride along with Charlie. Can't put it down.

Twisted, complicated, funny, scary, sexy, sarcastic, interesting, can’t put down, loving, and cliff hanger.

Ok I think that non-sentence says it all. I could not put this book down had to read till the end. Now I have only read the first one and this one. I could understand most, but most likely would have loved it more if I read all the installments.

I can’t say too much because it is complex and will ruin the story and twist. Great read!

Recieved a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I received Trouble With The Twelfth Grave by Darynda Jones thru Net Galley for a free and honest review. Charley Davidson is tasked with one of her most challenging "cases". The part=time Private Investigator and full-time Grim Reaper finds herself meeting with the archangel Michael, telling her that she has to kill her husband and if you fail to do so, an army of angels will carry out the task for you. Charley knowing that the man who may look like her husband, is not 100% Reyes, nor is he 100% Rey'azikeen. Charley is given some time and fail she must not do. Now mix in a friend of Charley's is a prime suspect in a crime, one that Charley knows her friend did not commit, and brings Charley's "favorite" cop to her front doorstep.
While Charley is trying to figure out a way to save Reyes, Rey'azikeen is searching for something that will keep him tethered to his current state. Absolutely my favorite Charley Davidson story thus far and I am very looking ahead for the next exciting Charley installment. You just got to love a woman who is passionate about her family, both of the flesh and spirit, her love of coffee ( almost as strong as mine) and knows how to pull the strings, (so to speak). Charley refuses to give in to what the others are telling, that she needs to give up.on Reyes, he is longer Reyes, but only Rey'azikeen. Charley ony digs in stronger and will never give up.

I’m going to give advice that I’m horrible at taking for myself. You’re gonna want to start at book one. This whole series follows Charley Davidson with a wide variety of side characters and a continued storyline. Even though I have not read all the books...yet, I’m loving this series. Darynda Jones is a captivating writer. I love that it’s full of laughable moments as well as so much paranormal action that there isn’t a dull moment.

In book 12, Charley is so busy that I was exhausted for her. While on a 24 hour deadline, Charley was trying to find her missing husband, who may or may not be about to destroy the world; investigating a murder to keep her friend from being arrested; investigating a serial killer that can only be by a supernatural and guiding her niece as she starts her own investigating firm, teenage style.

All the cases are solved but this still ends on a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Please be aware that this review will include spoilers for the Charley Davidson series, so if you haven’t read them yet, what are you waiting for!

The Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones is probably one of my favorite series of all time. I randomly discovered this series through a friend last year and seriously this is probably the fastest I have ever powered through a book series that contains as many books as this one does. The series centers around Charley – Private Investigator, Grim Reaper, God - as well as her merry band of friends and family. In every book, Charley solves a mystery for the living and a supernatural mystery, all while trying to keep those same friends and family I mentioned alive, keep the peace with the supernatural, and protect her baby from the evil minions that are always trying to find and kill her since she is basically prophesied to be the savior of the world. All in a day’s work for Charley.

In the Eleventh book in the series, Eleventh Grave to Midnight, we watched at the end as Charley’s husband, the always hot and sexy Reyes, went into the God Glass to release the tormented souls that didn’t belong there, so that Charley didn’t have. Unfortunately, this awoke his god-side, who doesn’t necessarily play by the rules of Charley’s world. Now in The Trouble with Twelfth Grave. the penultimate book in this series, we see that she is tasked with helping a friend who is a suspect in a murder she didn’t commit, as well as trying to find a killer who is targeting specific people and violently murdering them. In addition to all of that, she has to track down her wayward husband before he decides he might want to rain down death and destruction on the world and right now she is really hoping he isn’t the one who is committing all the violent murders.

As usual, this book hit all the right buttons for me. It has a kickass heroine who always seems to do what is right no matter what the cost, and she never lets her godhood go to her head. It has a very, very sexy leading man, even though you really don’t know what his intentions are in this book. And while there weren’t quite as many sex scenes as there have been in the past, the main one was a scorcher. Literally a scorcher (you will see it when you read it!) Darynda Jones has an amazing talent of being able to make you laugh and cry in the same chapter, sometimes on the same page! This series can be both laugh out loud funny, but also deliver some pretty harsh gut punches. I don’t cry at many books, but I have cried during a few of these. And I am not going to lie, this book shocked the crap out of me a couple times, and, I of course, won’t mention those specific instances because they are major spoilers, but I will say I am still a bit traumatized.

So, if you love tough female characters who happen to be absolutely hilarious, a cast of characters who are equally charming and loveable, a fantastic story that has been developed and honed over 12 books so far, with riveting mysteries to accompany each book, do yourself a favor and pick up this series if you haven’t already. You won’t be sorry.

The ending!

The 12th book in the Charley Davidson saga and I always look forward to reading them. I love Charley's snarky attitude and her clueless behavior, which somehow always works in her favor.

Why do I feel like I personally know these characters? Oh, because Darynda Jones makes them so believable and personable and makes you want to find out what is going on.

I can't say too much about the story line without giving anything away, but I love where this went and the shocker of an ending...wow!

Can't wait to read book 13th, but don't want it to be the last...

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC...and thank you to Darynda Jones for another entertaining escape in the life of Charley Davidson!

Charley Davidson is stressed. Her husband is not the same man she married, he is smoldering, like he'll fire and he has turned to the dark side on top of this she has one day to help out a friend, find two killers, and be able to get her husband back before he is killed by an army of angels. Oh, and she hasnt slept for days. What's a girl to do? Drink coffee of biblical proportions, have snarky comebacks, and find humor in this mess. Each book in this series is an adventure and leaves you heavily panting for the next in the series.

Darynda Jones does it again, not just paranormal but a lot of humour thrown in.
I was struggling with the beginning, mainly because I was thinking no, it can't be like this. There's always a twist though and I never see it coming. There is a lot going on, little sub plots everywhere that will wrap up soon enough. I think the author has a lot of fun stepping into the shoes of this sassy character, also I think she's addicted to coffee!!!
This was a fun read, a little dark in places and heart stopping in others.
The ending!!! She did it again, made me hit the last page button on the kindle thinking it can't be over here....so when is the next book out?
