Van is Book 9 in the "Cold Fury Hockey" Series by Sawyer Bennett. This is the story of Van and Simone. The book is sexy and very entertaining. I really enjoyed it.
As always, I started reading this book expecting a great time and Sawyer Bennett didn't disappoint me! Her writing style is entertaining and the characters are wonderfully done.
Van and Simone's story develops almost at the same time as Luca's. Simone is the youngest of the Fourier's siblings with a very strong personality. She is not happy with her career and decides to leave everything and move in with Lucas for a while. There she meets Van, she feels attracted by him and although he resists her, she always manages to get what she wants...
The chemistry between them is amazing but Van has huge walls protecting his feelings. He is afraid someone can discover his past and hurt him.
Great read! Entertaining and wonderful!
I just adore this series! Every hockey player's story have been awesome so far and Van Turner's story is no exception.
Van is currently living with his teammate Lucas Fournier. When Lucas' little sister Simone comes to temporarily live with them, that is when the fun begins. Van and Simone are both emotionally guarded and emotionally explosive people and when these two finally hook up....WOW!
Van likes to act like an a$$hole and pretend that nothing bothers him, but in reality, that is not true. He has a whole past history that has bothered him so much he was withdrawn socially from anyone. Too bad Simone doesn't care about how Van acts, she just wants Van.....ANYWAY she can get him!
It takes one, stubborn, pushy female to finally get through to Van, but when Simone finally does....it was well worth it. I just adored Simone. She is such a strong female and goes after what she wants even if it isn't the normal thing to do. Van may have seemed like not the world's best guy, but after realizing about his past, you can certainly understand why he is like he is.
Overall I loved the explosive journey these two went on to get to their happy ending. These two were so hot, it was crazy! The epilogue was even perfect too, although I must say I never would have guessed at that ending!
5 Shiny Stars!!! Loved, loved this book!! I am totally obsessed with the Cold Fury men and this one did not disappoint!! II adore Sawyer's writing!! This book was emotional, beautiful and scorching hot!!! Van is your typical hot and broody hockey player. The chemistry between Van and Simone is smoldering!! If you're looking for a super sexy sports romance then this book is for you! I highly recommend reading this and the rest of the series!!

I absolutely adore this series!! Each one captures me from the very first page and I'm in my own little world until the very last page....which was what I thought I was getting in this book but I didn't. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the plot...it just felt like something was missing...I struggled with the relationship with the two main characters...too much hot and cold and just felt off to me.
Simone....oh I just loved her!! She has dropped out of college and has decided to show up on one of her professional hockey player brothers doorstep to stay for a little while...only he does not live alone, he lives with a fellow teammate Van.
She is just a spitfire...so full of life and has a one liner for everything! Van however, is one of the most closed off humans on the face of the earth, has never been in a relationship and is socially stunted. He has trouble connecting with people and struggles with even having more then a few worded conversation. BUT......his past is a doozie and I totally get why feels the way he does and it's sad to see...I don't want to delve into his past too much because its vital to the story but it slowly comes out and explains why he is the way he is.
Simone is immediately attracted to Van and is like a dog with a bone and won't let go until she gets him into her bed!! Which sets the scene for a few comical scenes...even though Van wants nothing to do with this tiny ball of fire...especially because she is a teammate's sister. Well, she goes balls to wall in getting what she wants. A large portion of the book is the cat and mouse game and I honestly figured Van was a no go....but here is where it kind of lost me....he makes a rapid 180. Something from his past comes into his life and he is thrown for a loop. At this point, I just felt their relationship went from 0 to 60 and it was like I was reading about a totally different guy. Me no likey! Will his past effect his relationship with Simone for the good or bad? I was happy with the ending but to me, not one of my favorites in this series.
***4 ‘Am I Still Shiny?’ Stars***
I have to admit that while I was definitely looking forward to getting my hands on Van, I was also a little hesitant because of the tepid feelings towards Lucas (the book as a whole, not necessarily Lucas himself). But my overall love and enjoyment of the series had me looking at the book as a one off, especially since Van had captured my interest with his ‘I’m a lone wolf, don’t come any where near me’ vibe, and I’m so happy I didn’t give up on the series. Van is all kinds of HAWT, quite possibly the smexiest of the series thus far, but it also has the heart I’ve come to expect from a Sawyer Bennett book, as well as intriguing characters that keep me turning the pages to very end.
Van is described as being rude and antisocial, or simply an asshole, and there is some truth there, but I found that I liked the man. Even before finding out how heartbreaking his past was, I liked him because there was an honesty to him. True, he’s blunt and did his best to push people away, but he was never cruel about it. And then when light was shed on his past, well understanding dawns and I saw just how strong he really is, bruised, but strong. Of course falling in love with him came as the book progressed and the walls started to come down, because that man combined with all his smexy, dominate alpha AF self is absolutely lethal!
Simone. Simone. Simone. Oh this girl. I had a bit of a time with her. She is all kinds of fiery, extremely comfortable in her own skin and when she focuses on what she wants, the woman is the personification of stubborn determination and I’ll admit that while I admired her tenacity, there were a few moments when it felt like she crossed a few lines. Whether that’s a good or bad thing...I’m still in the whole inner debate mode over. But what balanced her out for me was her heart. For all her antics, she has a huge and amazing heart ~ not surprising since she is apart of the Fournier clan
The beginning of Van and Simone’s journey is filled with all kinds of crazy sexual tension and once it breaks...all bets are off. These two are so well matched when it comes to their more carnal appetites it’s a wonder fireworks didn’t start going off when they were within a hundred feet of each other. But soon their relationship evolves ~ even when neither wants it to (or at least says they don’t) and they find that they fit beyond the physical. The beginnings of a deeper emotional connection create all kinds of bumps in their road, but soon find that they are exactly what they never knew they needed. Now, there is always that plot twist bomb that happens and I’m honestly a little stuck on just how I feel about it. Part of me get’s it and feels as if the fallout was justified. but the other part of me...let’s just say that my brain kind of exploded and the inner verbal vomit went something like this “WTF?!?! After ALL that...all pushing...all those words and really??? That’s what you choose to do???...” *takes a deep breath* So, there was a bit of dip there, but what saved everything was the groveling apology...that was definitely going BIG and I totally approve.
As with all of the books in the series this one can be read as a standalone, though I will say that you’ll probably have a lot more fun if you start at the beginning with Alex since many of the characters make appearances throughout the series, but it’s not entirely necessary. The one thing I will say is that Van and Lucas run concurrently and you’ll get bits and pieces of Lucas’ story in Van whereas in Lucas you simply meet Van, so the choice is yours on how you wish to proceed. As for me, I’m looking forward to getting to know Reed better in the next installment of the series!
Sawyer Bennett has yet another winner with VAN , her nineth book in the Cold Fury series. To me, these books just keep getting better, and this is most definitely the BEST ONE YET. This one runs alongside Lucas , so I would recommend that it be read beforehand, however if you haven't VAN can still be read as a standalone. This is a bad boy and a very naughty girl who are just made for each other.
From the minute Simone Fournier turns up on the doorstep that Van Turner shares with her brother Lucas, you know that there is going to be trouble. Simone has ditched her studies and is unsure of what show now wants to do, but one thing is definitely obvious - she wants Van Turner, in a very big way. Whereas, Van is determined to stay away from her. These two would have to be the hottest pairing, by far, in this wonderful series.
Simone is an absolute minx!!!! She is never backwards in coming forwards, she says what she want and goes for it - and it doesn't bother her one iota as to who knows. She is absolutely relentless in her pursuit of Van, even when he is continually telling her NO!!!! She also has a heart of gold, which is evident when Van finally succumbs and reveals his past to her. Van is the epitome of an alpha, but when he's with Simone, that's when his softer side emerges - one that would make any woman's heart melt.
Van would definitely have to be my favourite in this series, which is amazing because I absolutely love them all. Bring on REED Ms Sawyer - let's see if you can top the heat, sexiness and fun of Van.
Read and Reviewed for Reading Is Our Satisfaction
If you haven't read Lucas yet I strongly suggest you do, not only because it was a great read but because parts of that book run along side most of this one.
Van is Lucas' roommate and when Simone. Lucas' younger sister, comes to live with them for a bit he knows she's off limits but boy does she get under his skin.
I have been loving each and every book of the Cold Fury Hockey Series, and Van was no exception. The chemistry between Simone and Van was great but what really got me was Van's back story....wow what a whopper of a history he has! My heart broke and totally understood why Van was so closed off and didn't let anyone get close but all he needed was the love and support of a good, strong, self confident woman to show him the way.
I found this story to be a little different from the rest but that has to do with Van's backstory and once you read it you will understand. Have I mentioned that I LOVE this series yet? If you haven't read any of Sawyer Bennett's books yet this is a great series to dive into, the only common thread between all the books is the men play for the Cold Fury Hockey Team, other than that each book can be read as a standalone and each story has a different feel to it.

Van Turner is one of the newer Cold Fury recruits. He is Lucas's room mate so we have already seen him as a blunt, broody, closed-off man. As we get into his point of view, we see that he really is not a happy person. He purposely keeps people at arm's length, he avoids situations that put him at risk of connecting, and scares people off with his intimidating and angry facade. He has his reasons that are hidden deep and hardly anyone knows what they are.
Simone Fournier is Lucas and Max's little sister, and she has just decided that she is moving in with Lucas and Van. She is pushy, mischievous, flirty, and even dirty. She is attention-seeking and self-centered. She is a bad girl hidden under the facade of a good girl. But she has made some recent errors in judgment that have her family on her to be more responsible and figure out what she is going to do with her life. But she also loves her family and has a good heart.
Simone has decided that she wants Van. She pushes. He avoids. She challenges. He hides. Until he just can't anymore. Boom! Sex only...or that is what they claim. But even if she can get him into her bed, getting into his heart and figuring out what in his past has made him so guarded will not be an easy task. It will take earning trust, challenging him, and scaling his walls.
And if she does uncover his secrets, will she be enough to help beat back his demons and try to for something more? Or will he be sucked back into his isolated darkness and push her away?
It is told in dual points of view and that was very important especially in the beginning with Van being so quiet. I will admit that it took a bit to warm up to both Van and Simone. His attempts at self isolation made him seem like a grumpy a**. She was a bit obnoxious and would not take no for an answer. They were quite antagonistic and working against each other for a while. But I have to admit that they grew on me. I came to like Van more as his vulnerability and insecurities about his past were gradually revealed and his personality started to shine through. I could understand why he would act the way he did and his need for self preservation. And the way that Simone accepted some difficult things made me like her more. They have hot chemistry and compatibility in erotic adventures. Of course, there has to be some drama, angst, miscommunication, and heartbreak. But fortunately, Van can also bring some sweet and swoon when he wants to.
This is told during the same time period as Lucas so some situations are repeated from other points of view, and it brings back her brothers, Lucas and Max, and other Cold Fury couples. And we get to follow along with the Cold Fury as they go for the Cup again. Reed is supposed to be up next. He was in this one a bit and seems like a pretty easy-going guy, but I guess we will see.
I was gifted a copy by the author.
I have been reading the Cold Fury Series from the beginning and we met Van briefly as he is roommates with Lucas. He is a very quiet person socially as he doesn't look for people a d keeps to himself. This often makes him come across as being mean or grumpy. What nobody realized it that all that is a result of the walls he has built to protect himself from the past and being hurt again. But who can really blame him after all he has been through. Somehow Simone slowly sneaks her way in and it scares the shit out of Van, making him feel vulnerable.
Simone is lost and trying hard to figure out her path in life. She finds herself shacked up at her brothers place on the couch. He does however have a sexy roommate that has caught her attention. The harder she tries the harder he resists her, until he can't fight it any longer. Slowly as they sneak around and spend more time with each other feelings start to muddy the sex only waters.
Will Simone find herself heartbroken? Will Van's secrets have her running fir the hills? Could they truly have a relationship?
I truly loved Simone's stubbornness and her push for what she wanted. Looking forward to Reed's story next.

Van by Sawyer Bennett is a smoking hot and entertaining read, and I loved it!
Sawyer Bennett has once again delivered with Van, the writing is strong, the storyline will capture your interest from the first chapter and keep you turning the pages late into the night!
Van and Simone are passionate, likable characters that will touch you with their story.
These two will bring out the feels, one min they will make you laugh with their sexual banter, then you'll want to smack them both with their stubbornness and refusal to see what was clear as day. They belonged together.
Simone and Van have a special connection that doesn't come by very often, I loved watching their relationship unfold and the chemistry between them was smoking, seriously these two were hot *fans self*
Van is an excellent addition to the Cold Fury Hockey series and I highly recommend it.
For me, the Cold Fury Hockey series has been a joy to read, with great writing, strong, passionate characters that will entertain you with their love stories and leave you with a smile on your face =)

Ahhh I don’t even know where to start! Just when I think this series can’t get any better, I meet Van 😍 this book was fantastic, I loved the complicated relationship between him and Simone and also all the other external relationships that affected how their story played out! An excellent addition to the Cold Fury series and by far my favourite!

Van and Simone ignite with a slow burn!!!
One of the best slow burns I’ve read in a while!!! Most likely the last Sawyer Bennett books I read. Let me guarantee this book absolutely does not disappoint. When you add in the comic relief and seeing more of the hockey teams antics and protective brothers and for me this book is absolutely GOAL!
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I would start into more details but I love the book so much I’m afraid I start giving the whole book away so I pasted the blurb at the bottom it just safer that way.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.
Authors Blurb: As one of the league’s toughest enforcers, Van Turner is ruthless on the ice. He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Van has spent his entire life running from a secret that’s kept him from getting involved in relationships—or accepting lucrative deals with East Coast teams. Then the Carolina Cold Fury makes him an offer he can’t refuse . . . and Van meets a woman he can’t resist.
Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. Simone gets what she wants, and what she wants is Van. Still, there’s a part of him Simone can’t reach, no matter how hard she tries. In private, he’s all fire and passion. In public, he freezes her out. Van may want to push her away, but Simone won’t let him go that easily. Because this time, she’s playing for keeps.
OMG! I devoured Van in one day, despite trying to read slow, I just couldn’t stop turning the pages. This book was so incredibly, delicious with a push and pull that was addicting, and just so damn good that I didn’t want it to end.
Simone and Van’s story is filled with animosity, disgust, lust, heartbreak, need and so much emotion and love.
Van is so closed off, a loner, with major attitude when we meet him and Simone. His struggle really is what helped to make this an awesome read. Simone is so in his face with lust and sass at first, but when the going gets tough for Van, Simone stands by her man with understanding and support as well as love to break down his walls.
Sawyer Bennett created such strong characters who live, breathe and jump off the page at you. The mix of sexual tension and emotional turmoil as well as some life altering struggles, that occur in this book, had me on the edge of my seat, rooting for these two. The ending was so endearing as these two try to make it, to a HEA. All the feels are in this one. I laughed, I cried and I melted! Thank you Sawyer Bennett for such a Fantastic Story! You don’t want to miss this one. Loved It!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Van is one of my favorite types of book boyfriends. He's troubled, brooding, closed off emotionally until the right girl - in this case, Simone - comes along and start chipping away at his walls. I loved how sassy Simone was, how relentless she was in pursuing Van. She was willing to start with their incredible, undeniable physical chemistry, but she didn't give up until she'd won his heart.
Sawyer Bennett is an absolute master at writing complex romances, and she can bring the steam like no other. This book is off-the-charts hot, yet has a sweet romantic flair to it as well. Of all the Sawyer Bennett books I've read (and there's been too many to count) this is my all-time favorite. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book through NetGalley.
Van and Simone. Described as ruthless and stubborn. Both who get what they want and when they meet, it’s like two worlds colliding. Simone is the baby sister of Cold Fury’s hockey players Max and Lucas and when she lands literally on Lucas’ couch and she meets Van fireworks explode. Even though Van turns her away time after time, Simone will not give up and runs after him until she can’t stop himself anymore. Despite the demons and the secret he carries, he begins opening up to her. But is it enough and is their attraction enough to make it?
Sawyer Bennett never disappoints. Another hit from a fantastic story teller.
Another amazing Cold Fury addition! Van Turner was something of an unknown to me, even being introduced to him during Lucas. He’s the most broody, withdrawn and closed off guy and the last thing he wants is Simone Fournier. Too bad Simone set her eyes on him and wouldn’t go away. I absolutely loved their interchange! The dance to connect was like fire and ice, but wow when they started to burn? It was incendiary!! Loved Van’s back story, even though it was heartbreaking at times. The way Simone accepted him and wanted everything he would give her? It was fantastic! Watching Van figure it all out for himself was everything and more than I could have hoped! I really loved Simone, she may be struggling to figure her life out but Van truly is the best half for her and her for him. Such a great Sawyer Bennett story!!
Sawyer Bennett does it again adding to the Cold Fury series! The Cold Fury is like a soap opera of their journey to the Stanley Cup, but each character involved gets his own love story. It all ties back to the journey though and each story continues to tie all the characters together, filling in where the characters are now even though the first story with Alex takes places years before hand. It's all amazing.
Van's story is filled with emotional turmoil, and figuring out what love means to him. Is it worth breaking down his walls and conquering his demons for love. There's added complications when he's being the one pursued. He really doesn't want anything to do with relationships, but it's Lucas and Max's little sister who's doing the pursuing. Simone is ruthless in her pursuit. Will she be the one to break down Van's walls? How will she deal with his internal turmoil.
This story is steamy and hot, but also filled with love and patience.
4.5 Cold Fury Stars
I can't get enough of this series. Seriously, I don't know how Ms. Bennett continues to make each book in this series (and her others!) better and better. The Cold Fury boys are back and now it's the mysterious and very moody Van's turn.
Van Turner has a reputation off and on the ice as rough and doesn't give a f*** about anything. He just gets through by hanging out with his teammate when feels he needs to and then is loner. He keeps to himself, because he has a dark, secretive past that he doesn't want to get out.
Simone Fournier is the little sister two of the Cold Fury players and ends up "moving" in with Lucas, who happens to be roommates with Van. Simone is trying to figure out her life, what she does know is that she has no more interest in attending her Ivy League school and also found an interest in her brother's roommate/teammate.
Simone is a little spitfire that takes no for an answer, especially when it comes to Van Turner. There's something about the moody man, that Simone wants. But Van wants nothing to do with Simone--even though the temptation is there!
What I love about Simone's character is that she comes off as the sweet, innocent little sister, but the girl is a vixen! She's funny, determined and even though she doesn't know what she wants to do with her life, she makes ends meet, by not relying on her famous brothers.
Van and Simone are explosive together and I mean that in a steamy, passionate way. Their banter is hilarious and are perfectly matched, even they are so opposites!
Van is the ninth book in the Cold Fury Hockey Series however it can certainly be read as a stand-alone. This is my first read by Sawyer Bennett and I can say with complete certainty I am hooked! What can be better than hockey, romance, and smoking hot steam? NOTHING!
"I'm going to own your cunt. I won't fucking stop until that pussy squeezes every drop out of me."
Van Turner is an enforcer on the Cold Fury Team. He has prided himself on living a private life. He is quite the ladies man and yet, he has never allowed himself to bond with anyone beyond a physical connection. When Simone Fournier crashes into Van's life, he is unwilling to give her the time of day. Simone is ruthless in her quest to win Van over. Simone's spunky attitude and persistence break through and eventually Van succumbs to his attraction to her. As Simone and Van connect both physically and emotionally, the truth of Van's past is revealed. As the demons from his past begin to threaten their future, Simone will do whatever it takes to give security and support like he has never experienced before.
"He's such a scary mother fucker but damn if he isn't a lamb with you."
Told in dual POV, Van is a sexy read with strong characters and an intriguing plot. Simone is such a strong heroine and her pursuit of Van was hilariously entertaining. Van is a typical broody male and yet, his history was quite complex and as the plot unfolds, I fell more in love with him and only wanted him to find happiness. He and Simone are a perfect match. The supporting characters enhance the plot greatly as the team is in the playoffs! I am thrilled to have discovered a new series to explore!
Overall, I highly recommend this read to anyone who enjoys an entertaining hockey romance full of passion and a lot of heart. This was my first Sawyer Bennett read and I can say with complete certainty it will not be my last. Lucky for me I have eight more books from this series to explore!
3.5 Stars
Sawyer Bennett returns us to the land of the Carolina Cold Fury with Van Turner’s story. This is the final book in the Fournier sibling arc of the series and is written as a stand alone. The time line here runs parallel to Lucas’s book, so there are potential spoilers if you aren’t reading the series in order.
This is an interesting one for me. All of the Cold Fury men are very “Alpha” and Van is no exception, he is just more emotionally closed off than we’ve seen before - he’s honestly one of the harder heroes to get to know and invest in until you get to know him better.
I’m going to duck behind the computer while I say that I think Simone might just be my least favorite of Ms. Bennett’s heroines. Having said that, I like her for Van and I liked her more once she and Van got together, I just had a hard time embracing her as they got to that point.
Ms. Bennett does an excellent job of keeping the series fresh and the story lines varied as she pairs the team off with their lady loves. Van and Simone’s story has one of the more unique complications and it speaks to the author’s skill that she was able to take such difficult subject matter and introduce it into a romantic story.
I would also call this a sports romance “lite” as the book does center around a hockey playing hero and the couple would not be together except for the sport, but hockey definitely plays a back seat to the relationship and other off ice issues.
The Cold Fury series continues to be a “go to” for me and I am looking forward to the next installment.
