Whether it's as an elite Army MP or a retired drifter, Reacher loves a good puzzle, especially if there's a good story attached to it. And some times, the solving of one puzzle leads to another, and as a matter of personal honor, Reacher steps up to solve that one, too. Another Reacher classic from Lee Child, and that's never a bad thing!

Another solid, satisfying Jack Reacher novel! The Midnight Line unfolds beautifully, with the stories of multiple characters all piecing together to make the whole plot. This just might be the best Reacher novel yet! It is fast-oaced and hard to put down, which is why i am up after 1 AM finishing it! I 'saw' the novel, unfolding in my mind like a movie as I read.

I have read all twenty one Reacher novels. Mr Child has never let me down. His character Reacher is one physically imposing protagonist. He's a 6' 5" 250 lb. mountain of a man. He's a man with honor, a conscious and a man always tries to right wrongs.he literally owns nothing but the clothes on his back. He is a retired major from the 110th MP squadron, He finds an extremely small woman's army academy ring in a pawn shop in SD and his sense of honor pushes him to find out why it's there. He travels to the vastness of WY. to find the owner of the ring. This is another Reacher story that will not let you down. Just like Reacher.

I received an advanced copy of this book from Random House through NetGalley in exchange for posting a fair review of the novel.

So happy to have a new Jack Reacher book to inhale. It's sort of like Christmas when you jump into one of these. I will not recap the plot, but as regular readers of the series know, there is a formula to these novels. Jack stumbles upon something that ends up in a thriller where he rights all the wrongs in a small town- the bad guys always lose. This iteration had a couple slants that made you think differently about the good guys having to do some bad things to get by. It plays into all the recent press on our nation's opioid epidemic in a timely way -- some people truly need these drugs to get through their days because they are genuinely in horrible pain. The story is rather in-your-face about this and I felt like this was a nice stretch for the author. I read this book in about 5 nights, and I wished I had started it on a Saturday because if so I may have read it in one sitting. Do yourself a favor and read this.

Classic Reacher tale. Doesn't miss a single detail, his background gives him knowledge other's don't have. The character has aged well, he even works with someone in the book! Great read, for long time followers of the series and new readers too.

I have read every book in this series. While I feel the author has never captured the early three, especially the "Killing Floor". This is another solid Reacher novel. It is a BIG improvement over that dark net story line last time that may have been the first "bad" Reacher novel.

With that said it follows the standard Lee Child format of the 3 F's (fight, fornicate, find and repeat) with a dragging middle. The mystery woven into the story was one of his best but the conclusion with Rose really seem to violate and cheapen the "Reacher code". Good book, good twist, but cheap and non-Reacher in the last chapter; skip that one.

I received a free Kindle copy of The Midnight Line by Lee Child courtesy of Net Galley  and Random House, the publisher. It was with the understanding that I would post a review on Net Galley, Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and my fiction book review blog. I also posted it to my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus pages.

I requested this book as I have read all of the Jack Reacher novels and wanted to get a head start on the most current one.

This book is a fast read that maintains the readers interest. I found it to be much better than the last couple of Reacher novels indicating that the author is back in sync with his character and themes. What was compelling to me about this book is that it deals with the serious subject of returning veterans with disfiguring injuries and what they have to do to cope with their circumstances after the military cuts them off from drugs that helps them cope. This is a huge concern in our country that is getting very little play and I am glad that Lee Child has brought it more into the light with this book.

I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Jack Reacher novels and who is interested in reading about how some veterans cope with devastating injuries.

Lee Child is back in top form. Really enjoyed the latest, and as always Reacher is the epitome of honor and strength. I absolutely loved the concept as well of beauty and otherwise, it's a terrific thriller and will be another bestseller for sure.

Midnight Line is classic Jack Reacher-best yet! The characters have depth and the plot contains details that keeps the story rolling in the reader's mind like an action movie. This title is a must read for Reacher fans because of Lee Child's stellar writing and plot development.

(3 1/2). Disclosure: I am a certified, dyed in the wool, loyal, will never see Tom Cruise in one of the movies, Reacher Creature! I look forward to each and every one of these books. That being said, here I my take. The first 200 pages of this book are some of the best work Lee Child has ever done. Reacher is at his fullest, most diagnostic, physical, investigative self. The story hits a short lull and loses some steam for just a bit and then finishes with a flourish. A nice ending, all with a very contemporary tie in. Another really good effort that will keep me coming back for more.

As a reader and supporter of the Jack Reacher series, I find this newest entry on par with its other titles. BECAUSE I know the series, I immediately recognized the typical Reacher formula of stumbling upon something he feels might need investigating. So what seemed slightly contrived and unlikely to me might not be so to the more occasional reader. Still, Reacher is clever, compatible with the other engaging characters, and tough as ever.

There's nothing like a new Jack Reacher book and this doesn't disappoint. Set in various states in Dakota/Wyoming area, Jack decides he wants to track down the owner of a West Point ring he noticed in a pawn shop... a simple premise that evolves into the signature Reacher novel. It's a matter of honor that he wants to find the owner, and as he digs further, finding one answer after another, he (of course) triggers the attention of various criminals who are involved in their own set of issues.
The pacing and dialog is fantastic and my only regret is the book is over before you know it. 5 Stars

Fantastic book. I've been a Reacher fan for years. I like how the books go back and forth between 1st person and 3rd person. This was an excellent novel.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Delacorte Press for the digital arc of this novel.

I wanted to give this book three stars because of some problems I had with it. I ultimately gave it four stars because reading it from cover to cover in less than twenty-four hours (half one day, half the next) has to count for something. Plus I enjoyed the book as a whole. This is classic Lee Child which makes it classic Jack Reacher by extension. People who think Jack Reacher doesn't have a sensitive side to his nature simply have to be substituting soppy or sappy for sensitive. Of course Reacher is sensitive, otherwise he wouldn't go off on these quests to find the reason for some situation others just walk right on by. In this case a stroll down the street while his bus is sitting in the depot of Rapid City, South Dakota leads him to find and buy the ring of a woman who graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2005. Her initials are engraved inside so, with no other reason in sight, Reacher decides she might have fallen on hard times and he wants to return the ring. So where does he go from there? Well, for on thing he tells the bus driver he won't be getting back on the bus. The remainder of the book is classic Reacher pulling multiple rabbits out of the hat.

So here are my reasons for my quandary about the three or four star rating. How can people live completely off the grid for years with absolutely no source of income? Because that's what happened here and it just didn't make sense. I think the details were not included because if they had been then the story could not have unfolded in the way it did. But I'm curious, I notice little details so I wanted to know because that wasn't a small detail, that was a big deal. Next, Reacher is a large man (6'5 and 250 pounds) but he's not a monster. Why did the author have people call him names synonymous with urban legends? That was odd and it stood out, but not in a good way. Finally, that last chapter is a mess. As far as I can tell not one plot thread is tied up. There is an awful lot I, as a reader, am left to assume about pivotal characters in this novel. Why? So the page count (400 pages) could include that last interaction? Well, I'm sorry but it just seemed like pity to me and that didn't fit with the character of the Jack Reacher person I've come to know.

I gave the book four stars. I've given my argument for both the three and the four. Now you get to decide what you think.

Another terrific Jack Reacher novel. This time the reader sees a little different Reacher, one who is lonely after breaking up with Michele Chang. This loneliness is seen in his choice of travel routes. In his search for the owner of a West Point class ring, Reacher allows the reader to witness both the mental and physical hardships and challenges of a few severely wounded Purple Heart recipients and their struggle to obtain a variety of cannabis medicines that are necessary for their survival. The legal and illegal methods of access to those meds were investigated by Reacher and his cohorts. Not an easy task for when one door closes another one opens.

Let me start by saying,I've been a HUGE fan of Lee Child and Jack Reacher since I read the first book in the series years ago. After the first five or six books I began to worry that Mr Child would begin to lose momentum and the books might become inconsistent, as .usually happens with a long running character series.
I am so glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised that here we are on book twenty one in the series, and Reacher is just as good today as he was in the first book!
Reacher is a force of nature , and that nature is justice. This time he"s 'looking for the owner of a West Point graduation ring he finds in a pawn shop.
I don't want to give away anything so let me just say that if you are a Jack Reacher fan this is one of the best yet! Please keep them coming Mr Child!!!

Reacher is the quintessential accidental detective and anti-hero. As he ages he no longer can rely on brute strength and reflexive blows in a calculated and devastating manner. In "Midnight Line" Reacher relies more on his ability to asses a situation and talk the bad guy into giving him what information he needs.. As always, Reacher bends the rules to get the bad guy and help save the day for the damsel in distress. Child continues his detailed and evocative story telling that sees detail where the reader does not. Do not plan any activities once this book is in your hands.
