So Over You
Chicago Rebels#2
Kate Meader
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another awesome story in this series. Love getting to know more members of this hockey team. And the drama involved with the female owners and their relationships with the players and also with each other.
Super sexy Russian hockey player falls for his personal coach. This story has great background to it. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

One of my favorite genre of books is sports romance, especially hockey. So reading the second book in this series was a no brainer. Isobel struck me as a character from the first book that I definitely wanted to know more about. The interactions between her and Vadim were really good. I enjoyed this read and will be looking forward to the third book.

4+ Stars!

Sexy, steamy, and sweet!

So Over You is a sizzling second-chance romance that introduces us to the broody, stubborn, handsome Vadim and the feisty, driven, scarred Isobel as they each navigate the loss of a loved one, familial drama, career-altering injuries, undeniable chemistry and insatiable desire.

The writing is lighthearted and fun. The supporting characters are encouraging, loyal, and kind. And the plot, from start to finish, is filled to the brim with longing, lust, emotion, angst, witty banter, and tantalizing romance.

So Over You is the second novel in the Chicago Rebels series and another highly entertaining, thoroughly enjoyable sports romance by Meader who seems to have the formula for writing irresistible rom-coms down to a fine art.

Absolutely Fantastic!! This book is a must read. Kate Meader is absolutely rock in this series. Isobel and Had in let the sparks fly while their chemistry is past smokin hot.

Still smarting from a career-ending injury, Isobel is struggling to find her feet again. Assigned a temporary position as a skating consultant, she's dismayed to find her first client is none other than the man who was her first, and still haunts her dreams.

Vadim is still crazy about Isobel, but she was the reason his NHL career got a late start all those years ago. Turning off his feelings for her is a tall order for this Russian, especially as unfinished business between them has them burning up the sheets.

Vadim & Isobel provided an entertaining story on & off the ice. Their witty dialogue, along with a well-placed cast of secondary characters ensured that Mrs. Meader delivered a sweet, funny & sexy novel.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book, which I received from NetGalley, & I recommend it!

Unbelievably udivitel'no! (aka AMAZING!)

Gob-smacked. In love. Bowled over. I’m trying to figure out, in real big people words, how much I LOVED this story! Flat out, everything about it, in LOVE! I’m still in a post-read high so the fangirling may be a bit much but to be honest – all the words are deserved! And there will be way too many exclamation points… Be warned…

“Vadim Petrov took assology to a whole other level.”

The first book in the series was hard to top with Harper and Remy – and the whole Rebels crew – setting the bar impossibly high. Emotion, love, drama, humour, AND hockey? All were awesomeness + sauce and all the cherries. Unbelievably, Isobel and Vadim took that bar, shook it around, made it their own and raised it even higher….

“Intense Vadim was a total stud. Funny Vadim was a threat to her heart.”

There’s so much going on in this series – in each story – it’s hard to focus on one thing. The relationship between Isobel and Vadim is intense, rife with heat and anger, guilt and… hope. There has never been a right time for them and this time is no better. Worse, in fact, but professionalism wars with emotions and desires that can’t be muzzled any longer. It all comes together in a maelstrom compounded by all the sub-plots, parallel plots and new plots that accompany this totally engrossing read…

Isobel and her sisters continue to grow their non-existent relationship. Two steps forward, one step back with wine and tears, and plenty of hugs. Vadim and his complicated family situation plays out amongst blazing hot encounters with Isobel – on and off the ice, and a return to the game that has meant so much to him. A cool façade that hides a sense of humour that is as irresistible as his abs…

I want to talk about so much in this book that I shouldn’t – and won’t – so all I can say is.. READ THIS BOOK! READ THIS SERIES! I know I will – again and again….

If that all isn’t enough, tantalizing glimpses of Dante and Violet and Cade having me jonesing for the next read like a cat seeing the catnip, hearing the catnip, but it’s just out of reach. ARGH – I need those stories right now!! ~Diane, 5 stars

In So Over You, a second chance romance is born in the hockey field when two former lovers meet up again in a very interesting set up. When Vadim and Isobel first met up in their late teens, they were both up and coming hockey stars and they definitely had the hots for each other. Suffice to say, true love did not end in the most auspicious circumstances and they haven't seen each other in years. Until the day, Vadim's trainer turns up to be Isobel. What results is a funny, very hot and very sweet romance about two people whose dreams really did include each other.
This book is so much fun and a page turner! So Over You is the second book in the Chicago Rebels series and of course when Isobel and Vadim's set up was first introduced in I just had to read their story and it did not disappoint. They were hot, they were sizzling and they were a little bit competitive but it all worked out!

The Chicago Rebel Series is nothing to be missed and So Over You just cemented its place in the Sports Romance genre.

I loved it from the first page and all the way through. The characters were great and I can't wait to read more about the rest of them.

Wow. First let me say that there were more than a couple of scenes that I purposely read at least twice, not only for the thrill but for the fun. Isobel came across as a quiet type in her role of a secondary character in the previous book, but she took center stage here and she owned it. Vadim of course was a force to be felt. I loved the characters, the story line and the writing. Great book. I wanted it to continue because it was so good. It hooked me in the first few pages and didn't let go.

This is a hockey romance where the heroine, Isobel, suffered a career ending injury less than an hour into her first game as a pro hockey player. Right now, she’s a temporary trainer with hopes of becoming a coach. The hero, Vadim, has been rehabbing after an injury and has to complete a series of training sessions with Isobel before he can be cleared to play. There’s one kink in the works — their overwhelming chemistry. They were together once as teens. It was their first time and she didn't have the big "O". Once he finds out that he let her down all those years ago, he makes it his mission to make good on what she missed out on. What starts out as Vadim on a mission to redeem himself quickly grows and what follows is sexy, fun, and entertaining with some real heart-felt moments.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

"The girl with the Blazing Skates has this boy on the ropes."

I couldn't wait to dive into So Over You. I'm a huge fan of Kate Meader's books. I knew the banter was going to be incredible and I was right!!! Kate's books always make me laugh out loud. The best part, her secondary characters are always memorable.

So what's this one about?

We met Isobel Chase in the first book in this series. She's one of the three sisters who are the co-owners of the Chicago Rebels. The franchise was a gift from their not-so-nice-father. Isobel used to play professional hockey herself until she was injured during a National game. She is now a coach and she's interested in coaching the players to improve their game. The first player she has to help is none other than the man who took her virginity.

Vadim Petrov has been traded into the Chicago Rebels. He suffered a knee injury and he's still not at one hundred percent. He has no choice but to let Isobel assist him. They have history, he was attracted to her and they had only one night together before her father interfered changing their destiny. When he learns that he was not able to make Isobel happy in bed all those years ago, he'll do anything to remedy the situation.

This was a fun read. It had plenty of great banter and funny situations. Both main characters were easy to like. Although, I had to warm to the Russian.

There was only one situation that I was not happy with. I believed Vadim made a huge mistake and I sided with Isobel, no questions asked.

If you enjoy romance and love hockey, this one is for you!

"Past, present, future, Bella, I am yours. That will never change."

I missed the first book in this series but Isobel and Vadim's story is an awesome introduction for me to these characters.

Vadim, the Czar of Pleasure, has been traded to the Chicago Rebels but a previous knee injury means that he needs to work with a consultant to be ready to get back on the ice. The consultant he's been assigned to is the girl who drove him crazy and nearly ended his dreams of being in the NHL. Vadim has very different memories of the one time he and Isobel were together and when he finds out that he left her unsatisfied, he becomes determined to right the wrongs of his past.

I absolutely loved these two characters. I loved the dual POV and couldn't get enough of getting into the heads of both Vadim and Isobel. They're witty, funny, independent, strong, and stubborn. Their passion burned bright and from the very first interaction they had, I wanted them to be together forever and always. I fell in love with the banter and connection between all of the characters. I can't wait to go back and read books 0.5 and 1 and see what's up next for the Rebels.

So Over You continues the story started in Irresistible You with three estranged sisters who have to come together after the death of their father and bring the Chicago Rebels hockey team to the playoffs, as mandated in his will, otherwise they'll have to sell the team. So Over You is middle sister Isobel's book. Isobel who her father groomed to be the hockey champion in the family, but who's promising career was put on hold indefinitely after a life-threatening accident on the ice two years ago. She now has aspirations of being a coach, specifically a coach for the Chicago Rebels, but first she'll have to prove herself. And what more trying way than to have to prove yourself by coaching an ex-lover who is coming off of the injured list.

After his knee injury puts him on the sidelines, Vadim Petrov is traded to the struggling Chicago Rebels. He thinks things can't get any worse, but when he learns the coach who is to help get him back on the ice is none other than Isobel Chase, he knows he's hit rock bottom. Eight years ago, Vadim took Isobel's virginity, but left her well...unsatisfied. He never got the chance to make it up to her because as soon as her father found out, he was sent back to Russia, his hopes of playing in the NHL derailed. Now, Vadim has a chance to redeem himself to prove that he really lives up to his moniker as the Czar of Pleasure. But when he and Isobel get together again, it's possible they have more unfinished business left between them. With Isobel trying to make a name for herself professionally, she can't risk a relationship looking like she's favoring one player over another. When it comes to hockey everything else has been off the table, until Vadim came back around that is.

The themes in So Over You continue the subjects broached in big-sister Harper's story in Irresistible You: a woman trying to be taken seriously in what is considered a "man's sport". The double standard that is presented towards a woman wanting to be in a position of authority over men as opposed to a man who would be in the same position of authority over women in the league. While Harper's story felt like one where you fight for what you want, and screw anyone who doesn't want to listen to you or who decides to judge you because you are in a position that's not common for your gender / sex, Isobel's story felt more like what are you willing to compromise in order to be happy? For the longest time Isobel was under the impression that Hockey was what was supposed to make her happy. It was the only way to get her father's attention / approval, and when her injury keeps her from playing professionally, Isobel can't help but feel she's let down her father (who we come to understand was no prince).

Vadim pretty much fell for Isobel when they first met eight years ago, while he's tried to move on, and by all appearances has, when he's faced with her again, it's clear that the feelings have not gone away. I didn't really care for the whole "took her virginity, left her unsatisfied" angle on their relationship. To me it felt like a means to an end. Some way to get these two back together and back to sleeping with one another in order to deepen their connection, but as things play out, I felt like there was no real need for it to be in there and mentioned. It felt a little hollow. I think the chemistry that Isobel and and Vadim have for one another, and the idea that her father intervened so extremely when he found out they were together, by sending him away, is enough spark for them to want to take up with one another again. Not the fact that Vadim needs to prove himself to her.

I liked the underlying theme of parents, and the things we do to make our parents happy. Or what we will do to make them proud. Even if it's just making the memory of them proud. This leads into what our perceptions of our parents may be. What we see when we look at them, as opposed to who they really are. Isobel wants to please her father so much, even from the grave, that she's willing to risk her life in order to get back out on the ice professionally again. And Vadim is so clouded over by the respect he has for his father (who he admits was not an easy man to live with) that he condemns the mother who left them years ago when he was a child, whom he loved with all his heart, that he doesn't even want to hear her side of the story. It fits the adage, there are two sides to every story.

Irresistible You was hands down one of my best reads of the year. So Over You continues in the same vein. There's a lot of build up for the next books in the series Undone by You and Hooked on You with each of those prospective couples being teased a lot in this book. 2018 has a lot to live up to!

So Over You (Chicago Rebels, #2) by Kate Meader is an excellent read. Fun and sexy, this entertaining and enjoyable book is well written and has an engaging storyline. Isobel and Vadim have history. A history that for her was not good and for Vadim's ego that's bad. Filled with humor and witty banter was a pleasure to read. A complex romance that is so worth the read. A great book and an wonderful addition to the series. I am posting a voluntary review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

Isobel Chase is an Olympic winning hockey player who was sidelined before her time by a life threatening injury. She was coaching a minor league men’s hockey team before her father died and left her and her two half sisters his NHL team, the Rebels. Now she is a consultant to the team, hoping for a coaching job. Since her injury, she has been struggling to make peace with her loss of career, move forward and discover where she now belongs.

Vadim Petrov is an injured hockey player, traded to the Rebels. He is Russian, rich, arrogant, and alpha with multiple lucrative sponsor contracts and loose morals. Isobel is charged with rehabbing Vadim to his former abilities.

Isobel and Vadim have a past. At the ripe old age of 18, she insisted on losing her virginity to him. However, she never got her happy ending during the interlude, unbeknownst to him. Her father walks in on them and has Vadim deported back to Russia. Fast forward several years and he’s back playing in the USA. Vadim has supposedly never gotten over Isobel, and followed her career, despite his manwhore ways. Rolling my eyes. Not that I would expect him to be celibate for the last 10 years, but why must they always be manwhores? And he is very heavy handed with his “I know what’s best for you” attitude.

If you don’t know much about hockey, you will be fine reading this. There is more focus on the developing romance than the intricacies of the sport.

I don’t mind characters whose first language isn’t English. I don’t mind lines thrown in using their primary language. What I do mind is when no translation is given. It is frustrating. If a writer is going to do this, a glossary of words and phrases needs to be included if you aren’t going to translate during the story, which not all of the words and phrases are in this book.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as Remy and Harper’s story. However, I can’t wait for the next pairings story from the glimpses we get in this book!

Awesome contemporary sports/hockey romance. Three estranged and unknown sisters have to unite to maintain a NHL hockey team. Each of the staters is unique but all suffer from their fathers place in their lives. Isobel is the middle sister and was trained by her pro- player father to be the best woman in the womens league and she was until a near fatal accident. Now she is a minor coach as well as co-owner for a struggling team. The sisters are running out of time to save the team and their legacy. They acquire an injured Russian player, Vadim. No one knows that Isobel and Vadim have a bigger past. It is her job to bring him back from his injury. Unfortunately, many people both on and off the ice want to watch them fail. The author did an excellent job of staying in the present while taking the readers on visits into the past. The last has shaped who both main characters have become. I received a complementary copy of this book via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Meader.
