This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended
Twenty-three year old Chelsea Dutton lived a life of fear and doubt. She was constantly looking over her shoulder, afraid of what might be sneaking up behind her.
And with good reason.
After that life shattering Halloween party Chelsea had difficulty trusting others. She couldn't escape the emotions, the nightmares or the physical scars. Not knowing where Ethan has disappeared to, nor keeping in touch with Boyd left her feeling insecure and fearful.
Chelsea was able to build a minimal life for herself - a job working from home and one single, but very devoted, friend who was always there for her.
However things begin to unravel for Chelsea during one of her rare jaunts outside. Out of the blue she runs into the only other known survivor from "that" night.
Boyd offers Chelsea an opportunity to come out from under the horror of that night. He offers understanding, and begins to bring Chelsea back to life.
Until she starts seeing Ethan everywhere she turns. And then Chelsea begins to catch Boyd in little white lies and cover up stories. What is he hiding? Is he really what he says he is? Has he kept in touch with Ethan? The questions spiral, and even Elizabeth has her doubts. What is Chelsea going to do?
Jennifer Jaynes creates characters that are compelling. The twists and turns she takes has your mind reeling at times. I thought I had it figured out, only to be turned in a different direction. There was enough predictability for me to think I could solve the mystery. And yet... I found myself unsure until the very end. In a very good way!
Thank you for the opportunities to read this book. I have attempted it on a number of occasions but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get into it.
Great book, love this author and how they can keep my attention to the end! The plot is well developed, characters are believable and they obviously paid attention to detail to make the story worth your time to read.
Interesting psychological thriller. Chelsea is the only survivor of a horrific night of murders but now she’s scared the killer will return. 5 years after the event, she receives a note… it’s not over. I was guessing until the very end. Very well written!
DISTURBED by Jennifer Jaynes is a suspenseful, unputdownable, disturbing psychological thriller that had my full attention starting with page ONE (1).
Here’s what it’s about:
On Halloween night five years ago, Chelsea Dutton’s college roommates were viciously stabbed to death, and Chelsea was critically injured. She was found hiding in her apartment’s bathtub, barely clinging to life.
With only fragments of shattered memory, she’s been trying her best to move past the nightmares ever since. Now in Boston, she lives a somewhat reclusive life, working from home as a medical transcriptionist and bingeing on mindless television shows.
She can’t shake the fear that her attacker is out there, waiting to finish what he started, and Elizabeth, a nurse she met after the murders, is the only person she can trust.
When someone from her past reemerges, Chelsea starts receiving disturbing messages and worries that her every move is being watched. As the messages mount and her memories begin to return, she’s led to a very terrifying and lonely place. But she needn’t be afraid. She won’t be alone there for long.
I read this book in less than TWO (2) days and that says a lot for me because I really EVER read a book that fast! If you enjoy quick, easy reads with short chapters and a TON of twists - DISTURBED is definitely for you. I had many suspicions and theories throughout the book but every single one of them was WRONG and I love when a story can throw me off like that.
DISTURBED was released 2017
You will never be disappointed when reading a Jennifer Jaynes novel.
Her books are great thrillers that give you everything you need to keep turning the pages.
Great characters, lots of suspense and just all around a great read.
Disturbed is mesmerizing, fast moving, intriguing and down right heart stopping......... A true psychological masterpiece........
It is my great pleasure to leave this review of Disturbed. I am simply in love with Ms. Jaynes's writing style. This young author writes with such simplicity and intrigue. It is hard for the reader to put the book down, without finishing the story line first. This is my fourth book by this author. I will continue to read all her novels, as she develops her characters well and keeps the suspense and drama alive, as the story unfolds. It was apparent to me, she researched the psychological anomalies of the character in the novel. In my humble opinion, she is as skilled as Iris Johansen when creating her psychological thrillers.
The ending is just as dramatic as the beginning....... There are twists and turns throughout the book and the troubled individual is not revealed until the end of the story. I found myself attempting to solve the mystery of the villain, but in the end, I was completely baffled and of course, incorrect about the identity of the individual..... The end was definitely left hanging for a potential sequel to the story.... I am hopeful Ms. Jaynes will write a sequel,..... as there are so many other places she can take the story line to. I am being vague on purpose, as not to give away her awe inspiring story and plot twists.
I most highly recommend this book!
I was given an ARC by Ms. Jaynes in exchange for my most humble and honest review.
This is a quick, short, fun, and fast pace thriller. Perfect to take for the day at the beach. Once you start you will not be able to stop until the last page.
Thank you to netgalley for an e-arc copy in exchange for an honest review.
Good Book
It was a quick read with just enough creepiness to keep me enthralled. Fast paced and a surprising twist
This is my first book by this author but I'll look for more
What a great book!!! This was such an easy read and was very enjoyable. I loved how all the characters fit so well together. This book kept me guessing til the end. I’m still getting over the shock on who the killer was. Never would have guessed it in a million years. Definitely a five star read.
I love Jennifer Jaynes books! This was one her best I believe. The story moves quickly and interested in the characters. Just when you think you've figured it out, the twist!
Chelsea and her roommates are viciously attacked and while her roommates dont make it she barely does. Now she lives in Boston with her bestfriend and cat. Shes not really living life always looking over her shoulder for her attacker to return. Boyd was there that night but left before the murders. Now hes interested in Chelsea.
This was a quick read. While sympathizing with Chelsea she was VERY naive. Her friend tries to be the voice of reason while the original detective looks into her cold case. Lang was determined to solve this case and bring sone closure for Chelsea.
Five years ago on Halloween night Chelsea and her friends were celebrating a birthday party when both her friends were killed and Chelsea was found brutally stabbed hanging on to her dear life. Now years later she still has no memories of that night and leads a secluded life. But then when she receives a scary note her worst fears come true as she knows she’s being hunted again
Disturbed is a fast paced psychological thriller that’s keeps you guessing till the end. Lots Of twists and turns with an unexpected ending. My first by Jennifer Jaynes but definitely won’t be my last.
I would like to thank Thomas & Mercer & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Dangit. This is what I get for not writing a review immediately after finishing the book. I totally forgot about it and now it's been over 4 months since I read this.
Some story details may have gotten lost along the way, but I definitely remember this being one hell of a page-turner. A trilling, chilling, mind-fuck of a book with quite a few big turns of events I didn't see coming.
A psychological thriller at its best with a well fitting title.
Let's just hope that there's currently a sequel in the works. There's no way Jennifer Jaynes can leave it at that. Or is there?
I have enjoyed everything this author has brought out. Super talented and this story was another edge of your seat tale that I greatly enjoyed.
Overall, I enjoyed this book but must admit that I accurately deducted the identity of the stalker within the first few chapters. I will not give away the identity, so as not to spoil the story for anyone. The suspense was maintained throughout the book and its ending came at, what felt like, an appropriate time. The characters were well developed and I liked most of them. I would have appreciated more insight into the mind of the stalker and the motives in play.
Some scenes, such as the message written on the bathroom mirror, reminded me of movies that I have watched with that scenario. If there were to be a second book, I would definitely read it!
Wow, i just can't recommend this book enough, anyone who hasn't read any of Jennifer Jaynes dosen't know what they're missing. Fantastic author in her genre and this book is no exception
A good modern thriller with a brilliant twist. I enjoyed the story which held my interest to the last page.
Wow! I really enjoyed this book! I read a lot of mysteries and thrillers. Usually, I figure everything out halfway through a book. Not so with this book. The twists and turns kept coming. I loved how little things were slowly revealed. Jennifer Jaynes really delivered the thrills and chills with this book. It had a slow, menacing feel that kept growing. I will definitely read more of this author's books!
