Definitely a story of opposites attract. Dawn is the owner of Tantric Books which sells sex books and toys, has purple hair, and lots of tattoos who lives illegally in the back of her shop. While Rory is a Polo and Khaki wearing billionaire that lives on a yacht.
This was a great easy read I would def recommend to my book friends.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review and here it is: I found Dawn, the quirky bookstore owner to be tiresome and needy. I found Rory to be an elitist. Both of them let their parents control them too much (either by actions or inactions) and their chemistry was off for me. Being self-confident in your sexuality doesn't make you a feminist, nor does bucking tradition in order to make a statement. Dawn was so convinced she needed to put on a persona that she missed that she needed to be true to herself first. Living behind your bookstore is pretty rock bottom and, although she had alternatives, she decided to make plan after plan to get herself out of the hole she was in. I just didn't understand the hole she was in when it came to light that Jack paid all of their bills (except groceries) when they were together. Rory was genuinely trying to do the right thing for all parties involved when he moved new shops into Haven and relocated other shops. Rory didn't have ill intentions towards the shopkeepers, he just knew that they needed more for the tourists to want to drop their vacation dollars on. The book mainly concentrated on their push/pull from the very beginning. Rory and Dawn jumped into the sack often and I was repulsed when she decided to potentially use a video as blackmail against him. That was low and I was not impressed. Her excuses for her poor behavior got old and I was over her by the end of the book. Some of the plot was a little too all over the place for me and none of it seemed to really get resolved. Overall an okay read but wasn't my favorite Jamie K. Schmidt book.

I have to say I wasn't really sure about this book, but the description sounded interesting so I thought I would try it out. Overall I though Rory was a bit of a dick in the beginning, I'm glad he begins to grow a bit as a character throughout the book though while dealing with his family issues. Dawn was a quirky character, I wouldn't say she was really out there or anything but she was really upfront about what she wanted and went for it. I thought the book was pretty good, I enjoyed the main story as well as the little drama surrounding Cammy.

5 ‘Tantric’ Stars!

Handsome and rich Rory spends months emailing alternative bookstore owner, Dawn, trying to convince her to let him buy out her lease. He’s gifted a pic of her flipping him the bird, in all of her boobilicious, purple-haired, tongue-ringed glory.

Once they finally meet in person, Rory sees first hand that Dawn is a spit-fire with an attitude and mouth that drive him crazy in bad and an oh, so good way. Those sparks between them ignite one night and there tryst is filmed on Dawn’s security camera. Her plan is to blackmail Rory if he continues to try to push her out. What she doesn’t plan on is connecting with him in ways she’d never imagined.

This is my first novel by Jamie K. Schmidt and woooohoooo (fans self) it was hot as hell. The story was equal parts funny, sexy and dramatic for a combination that left me feeling fully sated by the end. Hard Cover was super enjoyable and I will definitely be reading more from this author.

The cover of this totally drew me in and the story inside is fantastic! It totally sucks you in and won't spit you back out until you're finished. 5 stars all the way.

What a quirky and surprising romance between Rory and Dawn. She owns a women's empowerment bookstore and the town selectmen want her out to make way for more main stream stores. Rory is in charge of the makeover and tries to buy out her lease and her store. Of course she says no but that does not stop them from having a relationship that grows over time. The characters are well defined and relatable. The sex was hot and steamy. The plot and sub plots were smooth and understandable. There are twists and turns in the story. Also sadness, but in the end we have an HEA.
I voluntarily received and reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book from NetGalley.

No holds barred on this one. Dawn is an in your face, badass bookstore owner who likes sex and doesn't hold back. Rory is a cleaned up billionaire who proves you can't judge a book by its cover as he challenges her and gives as good as he gets.
Schmidt is true to her writing style and voice, and this story is a breath of fresh air. The UST is to die for, and the actual sex is the little death itself. Romantic, Kinky and sexy, this book has it all.

4.5/5 Stars
Dawn is the former upper-class daughter of a judge turned wild-child & free spirit. Her bookstore caters to women, particularly those wanting to empower themselves and maybe even read some books with hot sex in them. Her only problem: RoryParker. Rory wants to turn the strip center her store is in into one full of high end stores that are more "acceptable" to the area in attempt to clean it up and remove the drug problem. Dawn's store obviously doesn't fit the bill. Rory's more than generous offers are tempting but she just doesn't know if she can leave the community and the women who need her. Rory is using his model-like looks and all his charm to try and persuade her. Can she resist?

I LOVED that the characters' intentions were out there and honest in this book. So many times the silly angst is cause by communication errors that could have been avoided. Don't get me wrong, there are secrets here, but they make sense and don't cause undue trouble. I love this heroine and how strong she is and unapologetic about her crazy hair, the books she sells and the sex she enjoys. I absolutely adore the hero because he is attracted to her and is not afraid to show it, say it or prove it by dating her out in the open despite his stiff collar family. I also really enjoyed the back story of Rory's sister. I hope we see more of her in future books.

I have to say that I really really enjoyed this book! Rory is handsome, rich, and just a really nice guy, I loved him. Dawn had mad issues but you can't help liking her because she's a really nice person too. They both have a kinky side and it's so well written, it's hot. Dawn thinks they're from different worlds but they are not, they actually couldn't be more alike. Both have painful past, and they are adorable together, I give this book five stars and I recommend it highly.

He was a master at business and a keen negotiator. His targets were all to willing to relocate elsewhere in a project to revitalize the waterfront that holds a painful memory. She was the one who would constantly pose as a challenge. Neither one giving. They both took what they needed. Will the6 ever reach a compromise? The relationship between Rory and Dawn is scorching hot!

I loved it! I loved Dawn's brand of tough and that she spoke her mind and was true to herself. At first, I did think of Rory as the poor little rich boy. Until he proved that he was a man and could take whatever Dawn dished out. For me, they made the perfect couple. I had some laugh out loud moments with some of the characters. Especially with Milly and Mr. Grant's little adventure. lol! I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I found this book while poking around on NetGalley looking for something to read. The cover caught my eye – a handsome fella with an intriguing, mildly sardonic look on his face. Jamie K. Schmidt is a new author for me and I don’t normally go for contemporary romance, but the blurb sounded fantastic. A quirky bookstore owner vs a billionare land developer? Sounds very You’ve Got Mail, a movie that I love. So, I was delighted to receive a copy in exchange for an honest review. Aside from the basic premise of bookstore owner vs land developer, Hard Cover and You've Got Mail are are otherwise very different, that premise was enough to hook me, and, I gotta say, I loved this book.

It is a relatively fast read. It is a longish novella. But, the pacing is quick and the dialogue is snappy. I liked that it is written from a first person point of view that bounces between Dawn and Rory. I liked that there is history between Dawn and Rory, both from high school and their email exchanges before the story begins. I liked that with their shared history and each of their family dramas, and you get enough emotional background and character development to really know and understand their (very relatable) motivations and to make the bedroom scenes meaningful. And, those bedroom scenes. WOW. Bedroom scenes. Bathroom scenes. Car scenes. Yacht scenes. Scenes in limos, a salon, etc. Let’s just say they’re HAWT. The one where they watch the video together, in particular, is a personal favorite. Yowza!

My only reason for taking away one star is the ending. While you get a HEA for Rory and Dawn, as well as Cammy, I want to know how things went with Dawn’s family. Why did her Dad sit there while others accused her of peddling smut? Was he in on the plan for her store being robbed? Why was he trying to tear down what she built? How did it go when she moved home? I felt like it really glossed over a bunch of her emotional growth at the end. Growth that, as a reader, I would really want to see – rather than just be told about – in order to feel like these two really will have a true happily ever after.

But, in general, if you’re looking for a fun, fast paced, HAWT contemporary novel, by all means, read this one. You’re gonna love it!

Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So this book...
OK so not only did I enjoy it but literally loved reading every minute of this.

Dawn is stubborn, strong, quirky and really a force of nature which balances out great against Rory who is a laser focus business man, who is also smart and charming as he tries to schmooze his way into buying out her store.
It's modern and contemporary and once I really started reading, I just could put it down unless my phone died, which it did at some point.

Dialogue was fantastic, not only between Dawn and Rory, but the rest of the characters too. Millie... Millie is by far the most surprising of the bunch and thank you Ms. Schmidt for her.
I did find that the ending, compared to the rest of the book, felt rushed. It glossed over minor characters to wrap them up neatly into the ending but I can overlook it due to how much I enjoyed the book in it's entirety as we all want a happy ending for everyone at the end which this ending provided anyway.

Overall it's a quirky, modern, and hot read! A very hot read! I will definitely be in the lookout for another of Jamie's Schmidt's books soon..

I have enjoyed erotic romance for several years now. I find the fast-paced storylines highly enjoyable, but I am very picky about the writing quality of the erotic romance. Hard Cover delivers quality writing, steamy sex, with a solid plotline. This book checks all the boxes on female-friendly sex, and the multiple narrative style brings a delightfully full perspective to each romantic encounter.

Jamie K. Schmitt has done it again with this fantastic book. It draws you into the story and makes you fell like your a part of the storyline and that the characters are your friends. It’s amazing that this author does this every time you pick up her books. A must read for me and should be getting 5 stars for this book all day long. Would totally recommend

What a fantastic book. I loved Dawn and Rory. The characters were perfect for this story line. Dawn was an independent and hard working woman. Rory had it all, but when they get reacquainted the sparks fly. This book was very entertaining and I didn't want to put it down.

Another great book by Jamie K. Schmidt. Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review by Net Galley and Love Swept.

Billionaire Rory is on a quest to buy up local businesses in town as a way to clean up the drugs in the area which have been a problem for his sister. He attempts to buyout Dawn, but she will not go down without a fight. Through the course of some discussions the two grow close and develop feelings for one another. Rory's quest to buyout Dawn changes as he instead helps change her business model.

This book was good. I liked how Dawn stuck to her guns and didn't change for anyone. I also liked how the author had Dawn be different from other women in that she wasn't the typical gorgeous stereotype, but instead had a punk style. Overall good read.

This one was okay. Dawn and Rory are an odd couple. Dawn is not your typical store owner from a well known political family. Rory is the rich billionaire who comes along with not so good intentions and is the catalyst to what happens next in her life. She has so much riding on her store making it. Rory is put in her path to make her a deal to leave her store behind. There are sparks when they are around each other. They both have family issues. The scenes are good. I wanted just a little more background with Cammy and her life before we met her. Not a bad read.

I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest opinion. Thank you Net Galley!

First off i need to thank the folks at NetGalley for getting me an ARC to read prior to November.  I love getting books early!

I usually have a big crash of emotions when i'm done with a book that's not part of a series but that's ok this time around since our author did a really good job of giving us a story that's got legs and then wrapping it up well.

What's interesting to me is the summary - it doesn't really give us a true sense of what the story is by any means - just bits that kind of tie back to one scene or another, but i think that for me, it's not always about the description that gets me hooked.

We have 2 leading characters who are not nearly as different as they appear to be, both of them having their own family stresses and life struggles, but when they are able to come together, well there's something that's really great that can come out of it.

Dawn and Rory knew each other in high school but never hung in the same crowd.  Dawn was always trying to be a bit of a rebel while Rory was living up to the expectations of his wealthy established family.  When their paths cross years later when Rory is trying to buy out the story that Dawn owns, you have to expect that it'll get nuts.

From the get go - there's clear chemistry between them - there's no doubt that they are attracted to each other, but the question becomes then if it's a one night stand type thing, or if there's a possibility that real feelings can come together and then what will that mean since they both keep trying to fight it soo hard.

Add to that the fact that Dawn's got issue with her family - they don't approve of anything that she does (or do they and she's just fighting it?).  Then there's Rory - he's always trying to prove his worth to his father and live the best life possible since his sister is in a coma because of a drug overdose.

So you can imagine how all that nonsense will lead to some really steamy scenes once these two let their guards down long enough.  And as expected in this genre - just when they think that things are finally going well, someone comes in between them, someone almost dies, and they are now split on opposite sides of the country.  Will they ever find a happy way to be together or was it just meant to be something short lived?  That's what you'll have to find out if you read it.
