I found this to be a good book. Rory is from a rich family. And he's trying to please his parents. They don't think much of Dawn. And they want Rory to get her out of her shop so their project can move forward. Except Rory decides he's always had a thing for Dawn and wants to take a walk on the wild side with her.
Dawn has no place to live or a car. But she still can't give into Rory by giving up her shop. She loves her place even if it barely pays her bills. But then Dawn and Rory end up together between the sheets establishing a new kinda of relationship.
I love every aspect of this book. The book pulled me in from the very first page, I did not want it to end. This book have several interesting things going for it throughout the entire book. The way that the two main characters interacted made for a fun and very sexy read. I love the way the author showed the differences between Rory and Dawn but at the same time showed different isn't always a bad thing. Thank you NetGalley and Jamie K. Schmidt for allowing me to read the ARC and write a honest review.
Dawn doesn't take crap from anyone. From her purple hair to her piercings. Rory tries to resist but sparks fly.
Omg the love in this book is so week written. The moments of fear force you to read more. Would love to see another book about the town and its regrowth
Oh I loved this! The book addict in me just had to read this beauty. I loved everything about this book from characters to the bookstore itself and the romance. This book filled me with so many amazing feels and has left me wanting more.
Dawn owns a bookstore in Haven which she calls Tantric Books. It's not your average bookstore though it sells books. She's all about women empowerment, feminism and sexual freedom. I freaking ADORED her. She was definitely all powerful. She never took crap from anyone, she didn't let people dictate her life and she knew how to have fun. Dawn was a spitfire, total opposite of the uppity people she was raised around and those in her town.
Rory is a billionaire, real estate agent and a man of many tricks and wonders. He's very confident in himself. He knows how to push things without being overbearing and he's pretty darn sweet. I enjoyed him in this book because he was opposite of Dawn in that he was used to the "rich" lifestyle. I loved how he stood up to his father and how he was always there for Dawn and his sister Cammy. Rory is an amazing guy.
The romance between Dawn and Rory was a bit insta-love for me, but considering that they sort of knew each other back in high school and flirted back and forth for months made it okay for me. I loved how their relationship seemed to go from strictly a fling to the real deal. Dawn tried to keep Rory at bay though she knew she was falling for him. Rory had no reservations about Dawn which I loved -- he knew he wanted her. They were perfect for one another. Dawn was a bit on the kinky side which I thought was hilarious she had this dominant side to her but could also be submissive. I enjoyed their relationship and their steamy moments throughout the story.
This book was freaking awesome. I also loved all the secondary characters in this book. They were all so different bought a different characteristic to the story. I loved Millie because she may have been quiet but when she opened up she was full of unsuspecting stories. Cammy was amazing -- I'm still trying to understand her deal though. Hans, the selectmen and all the others just made me laugh and full of anger every now and then.
Dawn and Rory went to high school together, and now they reconnected. Rory is the son of a developer who is tasked with getting Dawn to shut down her store Dawn is broke and she is living in the storeroom of her shop.Dawn is strong and independent and Rory always need to please his parents. When I started reading I couldn't put it down. The book is great.Keep up the good work.I received an ARC from NetGalley for honest review.
I loved this book so much that I read it in a day! After the first couple of pages I knew I was going to love Dawn. She is a strong, independent woman who knows what she wants in and out of the bedroom. She is a character that I admire and I think many women inspire to be more confident in their sexuality like her. I enjoyed the twists and turns that happen with love. You won't want to put it down!
I received this book free from Netgalley. I found it to be enjoyable. It wasn't my favorite and I definitely felt that the male main character was not really developed enough, nor was their relationship developed enough beyond sex and fancy dates.
A tale as old as time...rich boy, girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Rory and Dawn knew each other in school and now reconnect. Rory is the son of a developer who is tasked with getting Dawn to shut down her store so it can be redeveloped into a high-end, money-making machine. Even though Dawn is so broke she is living in the storeroom of her shop, she just can't bring herself to sell. Where else will community members go to buy her unique stock of merchandise? This brings tension to their relationship...or is it a different kind of tension that sparks between them?
This book kind of ebbed and flowed for me. I wasn't a fan at first, then it started gathering steam (and I do mean steam), then I just wanted to skip to the end to see what happened. I really didn't feel there was anything to their relationship other than a few quickies. If that's all the more plot you are looking for, read away. If you want something more substantial, however, this might not be for you.
I found this book corky. I loved Dawn in though she was stubborn as all get out! She made me laugh. Rory came off as preppy rich boy, who wanted to walk on the wild side. In the end he was the guy who didn't pass judgement on her. Just let her be her. He didn't try to change her. Even though in the beginning he was trying get her out of her store, but instead he helped her keep the store.
It was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the story and characters. I look forward to reading more by this author!
Rory and Dawn knew each other in high school but that was a long time ago. Now Rory is rich and is working on developing some property to bring in high end stores. The only hold out is Dawn, who doesn't want to leave the bookstore she calls home for any amount of money. She doesn't like Rory very much but her body can't get enough of him. Can a purple haired tattooed and pierced tell it like it is woman have a relationship with a man who seems like he was born in a suit? Yes! A red hot no holds barred affair that turns into more. Fun romance read with lots of heat.
This story wasn't my cup of tea. A feminist book store owner who is encouraged by fancy developer to relocate when upscale shops are moving in neighborhood and she refuses. She's got purple hair and he walks over to his parent's yacht when she refuses to sell. I didn't feel the chemistry. Where this could of been fun or funny with light banter it got much uppity feminist and snobby rich guy. It was battle of wills and lust.
It was a cute story. We have Rory a hot billionaire, who can not resist Dawn and vice versa. They went to high school together, but did not hang out in the same crowd. Dawn is a rebel, she always felt that she had to be different because she never felt good enough. Rory felt the need to please his parents. However, their chemistry was combustible, and even though they were on different sides of the fence due to a project that Rory had going on, they still gave into their desires.. But someone wants to push her out of her store, who is it?
Sizzling hot story
This is my first introduction to Jamie K Schmidt's writing and I really enjoyed the book.
Dawn and Rory as a couple should not have worked at first glance. However there was a chemistry between them that could not be denied. I thought the back story about Rory's sister Cammy gave the book a deeper dimension. The book was definately sexy but it was so much more. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
I received an advance reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
Similar to Romeo & Juliet, the hero & heroine's quest for being together is continually changed. The author blends the right amount of angst & lots of heat for a great story. A few questions remain unanswered but very enjoyable read.
