An excellent premise and well-written. A biblical story reimagined and expanded.
Very well-written and interesting plot.
This is a biblical fiction story. The narration is good and the story is attractive
This is well written with good characters and accurate depiction of what comes from scripture. It does a good job of giving a picture of what life might have been like for the early believers. The story focuses on a family from Jerusalem who knew Jesus before he started his ministry. It starts at that time and ends with the stoning of Stephen and subsequent dispersion.
I received this book free from the publisher for the purpose of review.
I got this book at the wrong time, to be perfectly honest, because I lost my reading mood right after, which I'm really sorry for, because I do value this opportunity.
That said, I did get to read the first couple of pages and it didn't grab me the way the blurb did, so I don't think I would have made a bigger effort if given any more time.
I was given an advance copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest evaluation of it.
I really liked the premise of this book. It takes place in Jerusalem parallel to the story of Jesus Christ's lifetime. It is about a family that knows Jesus or Yezuah and strives to follow his teachings. It is a story about those who followed Jesus' teachings and the persecution and struggles that they had.
I was challenged in that the story dragged in places.....especially in the climactic struggle. I struggled to complete the book. The denouement and resolution was totally out of the blue and I am not sure that I really understand exactly what happened. I really feel that that section needs to be rewritten.
All in all, I really liked the idea and the premise, but felt that the delivery was lacking.
