Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately, while the blurb really interested me, I was unable to get into the book.

The Vixen's Lead is the first book in the Kit Davenport series by Tate James. This is a urban fantasy for adults that also fits well in the new adult niche.

I want vengeance so badly that I can almost taste it. It's all I've ever wanted. So, I did what anyone in my unique position would do. I slapped on a secret identity and became an internationally renowned thief, known as The Fox. Nobody knows me. Nobody can catch me. Or so I thought. It turns out; I have what they want. Special abilities. And trust me, these abilities are coveted--and dangerous. Now, I don't know who to trust or where to go. Peril lurks on every corner as I try to uncover my past and origin. Teaming up with unlikely allies may be my only chance at survival or my biggest mistake. Only time will tell.

The Vixen's Lead started right in the midst of the action, with Kit stealing. At first it felt like a young adult adventure novel (since a private high school is one of the major settings) and I feared I was about to read yet another love triangle story. However, it was not long before I discovered that neither of these were true. Some young adults will enjoy this book, but I think it is better suited for new adults and adult readers. And a quick spoiler than some readers might appreciate- this series is not about a love triangle. Instead it is a why choose style romance. So depending on your preference for or against these I thought I'd let you know. Also, there is some serious abuse discussed so if you have related triggers when reading about trauma you might need to skip this one.

I liked the world building, and while some bits are familiar to the urban fantasy genre, I liked some of the slightly different takes that James uses in the creation and revelation of the characters and the story line. Even at the end of the first book I feel like there are many more secrets and revelations about the world and the characters coming even though it already feels well built. I liked the handling of sensitive matters, and how honest the characters were about their relationships with each other. I am deeply invested in the characters, even more so than the danger and mystery, which is quite compelling. My biggest question is why it took me so long to get around to reading this book!

The Vixen's Lead is an engaging and entertaining read. I got sucked into the world, and as soon as I finished the first book immediately downloaded the rest of the series, and I am deep into the second installment.

I received a review copy from Netgalley for a voluntary review of my honest opinion.

I am a fan of books about con artists and thieves. It's one of the reasons that Six of Crows is my favorite book. So when I read the blurb and found out this was a fantasy about a thief I requested a review copy from Netgalley right away.

This was actually a really good book, a lot better than anticipated. This is definitely NA and not YA, which I don't read a ton of, mainly because I'm not a huge fan of contemporary romance novels. But this was hot and it didn't lose track of a good paranormal storyline with all the romance and hot men in the story.

I was a little bothered by the love... well I can't call it quite a love triangle, more like a love star. But it actually worked for this book and these characters. When a story has a bunch of main characters like this it can get confusing, but they introduced them slowly enough for me to keep the 5 boys and their personalities separate in my head. Looking at you Game of Thrones.

Overall it was way better and much more captivating than I expected. It was a really cool storyline to follow and I found myself irritated because I started reading it when I knew I would be busy for the next few days, so I couldn't devour it the way I wanted to. I would love to follow up on this series and continue Kit's story with all of her guys. Oh and in case anyone is wondering I am totally team Cole.

The Main character, Kit Davenport is strong, sassy, confident and very funny. Somehow she always lands up in the strangest situations and has stranger ways of getting out of them. The thing I enjoyed the most about this book was all characters. Each character is unique, interesting and has well built backgrounds that influences everything they do. I also like how Tate James is not afraid to cross the lines of social conventions, as Kit has a deep connection with more than one of the guys who cross her path.

Her best friend Lucy is extremely clever and a tech genius. I admire Kit's connection and loyalty to her best friend. My first impression of Caleb was a good one, I enjoyed how he was protective and sweet. His twin Aidan was the opposite towards Kit. River and the rest of the team are all unexpected additions to the brilliantly thought out characters. River's British accent and his tailored suits is as good a reason as any to read this book.

James's style of writing is really easy to read and although it does have explicit language and sexual content it adds to the depth and realism of the story.

I can't wait to start reading the next book in the Kit Davenport series because I was left wanting more of anything Tate James can give us , from the amazing characters to the exciting plot.

This is a reverse harem book that is action packed with some paranormal thrown in.

I am so glad I came across this book it was refreshing to have something new and different to read.

This was one of those books that had steamy scenes at all the right moments. The romance building in this story is built at the perfect pace. I really liked that none of the steamy scenes felt forced.

This book had the perfect amount of character and world building so I was really able to get a feel for all the characters and the world surrounding them enough to sink into the story for hours.

I can officially say it was extremely hard for anyone to get my attention while reading this book, because I was swooped up into this exciting world so I could live another life.

This book is a reverse harem book which means there is a female with more than one lover. This book does contain mature scenes suitable for 18+ and lots of profanity. Trigger warning! This book does contain some flashbacks to a violent past with the main character.

OMG this book was amazing from beginning to end, I cannot wait for the next entry. I loved Kit as the female lead and I loved her best friend Lucy she was hilarious and a great back up character. Can I just say the thought of living in a house with 5 sexy men is probably the dream of every woman including me, so those scenes were very hot to me. Either way I give this book 5 thumbs way up great read.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
If this is the first book by this author, I cannot imagine what is she going to do next.
She came out swing + hit a home run.
I loved, loved the book.
Kit suffered so much, and it was high time that she caught a break in the form of 5 hotties.
( Yes Austin, you too. You think that we don't know, but we know. Just admit it )
This book grabbed me from the 1st page, and I did not want to let go.
I can't wait to find out when Kit finally realize her full potential.
Right now, she only knows of some of her abilities.
I am sure that there are more abilities hiding inside her that are ready to come out.
When Kit reaches her full power / abilities, then BAM! Watch out world!

A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for my honest review. I voluntarily reviewed this book. First time reading this author. This was a super fun book to read. I would say it leans more to young adult (which I am not) but I still liked it. It has mystery, suspense, a little romance well written and just a joy to read. I rate this a 4..5.
