I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
So When I first stated reading this book, it was kind of slow. I was not very drawn in,
but Slowly it pulled my attention.
I am excited to read more from this author soon.
“Just For Kicks” is a good read. I have read several books by Ms. Burke. This book is about Breeze Cohen. Breeze wants become the youngest store manager in the history of her company that her grandmother worked it. Currently her Grandmother was the youngest manager. So Breeze has made that her life goal. When Breeze meets Logan Chandler at the store she has no idea who he is or what he will do to her “life plan”.
Logan understands Breeze having a goal, but he's also learned that life doesn’t’ always follow your plan. Logan was a professional soccer player and his career was cut short with a near-fatal accident. Since that accident Logan lives life to the fullest and not according to a plan. When Logan and Breeze meet for the first time he is very attracted to her. Logan isnt’ bothered by the fact that it might not be appropriate for them to date since they kind of work together since they are working on a project for Kicks.
As the book progresses Logan keeps pushing Breeze to date him because he knows she feels the same way. Logan does understands why Breeze wants to keep their relationship quiet and does everything to honor her wishes. However, its hard for Logan to hide his feelings for her. Logan also understands that Breeze has been hurt before in one of her previously relationship but he also wants her to trust him and take a chance on a relationship. When Breeze is with Logan it makes her feel like did when she was younger before her goal. Its very troubling for Breeze to feel so much for Logan.
This is a very sweet read with dual POV and moves at a beleiveable pace. There is also just enough romance.

Breeze Cohen doesn't have time for a relationship, not if she wants to accomplish her career goals. However, Logan Chandler makes her heart beat faster than she ever thought possible whenever he's near. Except with her working hard to make the Nitrous launch party a success, Breeze doesn't have time for the gorgeous man that is her complete opposite with his live-in-the-moment personality. Yet, Logan isn't about to let Breeze get away. Will Breeze realize that there's more to life than work, so she and Logan can achieve their happy ever after; or are her career goals too important for her to even consider giving Logan a chance?
What do you get when you pit a stubborn heroine obsessed with her career and a hero determined to show her that there's more to life than work? Well, the answer is an entertaining read from start to finish due to the obstacles this couple face on their journey to happy ever after. Will the hero be able to convince the heroine that there's more to life than work? That there is more than one way to achieve one's goals for their life. The way this story started had me amused, because the opening line had me wondering what the heroine was doing, as it makes her job sound exciting and she has an enthusiasm for her career that just had me wanting to know more. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine met that had me captivated, as Breeze isn't one to make a fool of herself, and yet, she feels very foolish when it comes to first impressions with Logan.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, especially that of the hero that makes him live in the moment because one never knows when their time is up. Moreover, I loved every interaction between the hero and heroine, as Logan is a very determined man and won't give up on showing Breeze that love and happiness is just as important as her career. I also liked how far Logan has come since his near-death accident and his drive to succeed in getting everything he ever wanted in life. While the heroine, she's stubborn, independent, driven and I liked that she didn't make things easy for Logan. Then again, with all that she's been through, it's understandable why she put so much effort into achieving what she wants for her career. How could her fellow students have been so cruel that it made her run away rather than face what happened?
Overall, Ms. Bayley-Burke has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry between Logan and Breeze was delightful; the romance fervent and definitely shows off their chemistry nicely; and the ending had me loving how far Breeze was willing to go to show Logan she wanted a future with him. Who knew she had it in her to be so expressive by doing something that was definitely going to get the hero's attention? I would recommend For Kicks by Jenna Bayley-Burke, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Wynter Daniels, Daire St Denis, Sarah Balance and Hayson Manning.
This was an ok book, not bad, but not fantastic, however it is something to do. I liked Logan he was a nice guy, I do not understand his obsession with Breeze. I get he was attracted to her, but I could not understand why? I mean she rejected him constantly, and all she was focused on was work, so ok she had a bad experience when she was in high school, i get that, I get also that it was pretty traumatic for her, then get some professional help, you are an adult, stop with the see-saw. What I did respect from her, was when her petty bosses threatened her job, she did not take it lying down, she threatened back, good for her, she finally found her spine. And we get our HEA, because she finally realizes how much she loves Logan, and her family whom she neglected.
For Kicks is a cute, sexy little read. Breeze has serious plans on becoming her company's youngest store manager. She lives for her work and has no room for anything else in her life, like love or a relationship. Then she literally falls into the arms of a hot guy and she slowly starts questioning whether her her career is all that she needs in her life. But, Luke works for her company's client, so can Breeze and Luke make a relationship work and keep it a secret?
I enjoyed For Kicks. Breeze and Luke are both likable characters with a strong emotional and physical connection. I wanted to smack both of them a little at times, especially Luke for being so incredibly persistent when Breeze was dead set against them starting a relationship while they worked together. But, I sort of have to admire his persistence, too. And I love seeing Breeze finally realize that her career wouldn't give her the fulfillment that a loving relationship would.
If you like your contemporary romances to be both cute and sexy, 1 click For Kicks today.
I have a bit of mixed feelings about this book I didn't really loved it but it was OK, cute with developed characters. But I was a little bit annoyed with Breeze and hers stubbornness and Logan I didn't get his determination to suddenly have Breeze because it was at first sight like really he wanted her because she could t have her. And I really didn't understand all their businesses and what was the deal behind it. Toward the end of the book it got more interesting. The chemistry between those was hot and they are few sizzling scenes. But what I really loved the most was how did Breeze reacted on here meeting and how has she changed her life.
Wow I really love this author and I will definitely looking out for more of her books. Has everything I love and want in a book and more. Jenna Bayley-Burke deserves the 5 stars I've given her and more if I could. Don't know why I've not been a fan of this author but that has totally changed and now on my favourite list of authors and auto click books to read. Would recommend
Please note: I received a copy of FOR KICKS from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
Four stars and here’s why:
FOR KICKS was a great read. Breeze is focused on her career and doesn’t have time for love or dating. Logan, who survived a near-death accident, is driven in whatever he tackles in a seize the day sort of way, and that includes pursuing Breeze. They’re complete opposites and that’s what makes for a great story. Hella-hot chemistry and an overall fun read. If you love strong women and fun, sexy guys, this story is for you. Highly recommend.
I loved this story and the author’s writing style, slowly revealing her main characters’ pasts, fears, strength and vulnerabilities. Logan and Breeze are two great, well- rounded protagonists, drawn with complexity and depth. They both grow and change throughout the story and that process is smoothly written.
The attraction is instantaneous but the build up is slow which makes the desire and yearning almost tangible. Logan’s strong attraction to Breeze goes hand in hand with his reluctance to commitment, even if doesn’t know it yet. His infatuation with Breeze is beautifully depicted, with some rather sensual details (for instance, he’s awed with her hair).
Logan is an exquisite wounded hero, the type “Mr. Live in the Moment. Seize the day.” I loved the way he wore his wounds, so dispassionately –he’s an “intrinsically happy” person, in spite of it all.
Breeze is a great character too, with insecurities, always "running from her past and towards a career".
The secondary characters are also great.
I liked the corporate world setting too, not something we see so well portrayed in romantic fiction.
breeze cohen has one goal, to become the youngest store manager in the history of her company, supplanting her grandmother in the record books. when she meets logan chandler in for kicks, she has no idea that he's going to knock her off her path.
logan understands ambition. but he's also learned how to course correct when life throws obstacles in your way. his professional soccer career was cut short with a near-fatal accident and since then he's learned to jump into things. when he meets breeze his attraction to her is off-the-charts. it doesn't matter to him that their relationship might be construed as inappropriate given that they are working together on the same product launch.
logan is nothing if not persistent, and he can see that breeze feels the attraction simmering between them. he understands her reasons for keeping it quiet and does everything he can to honor her wishes. but it's hard for him to deny what he feels for her. he just needs her willing to take a risk on him, on how she feels about him. she's been badly burned once before. in a way that was life-changing.
being with logan brings her back to the girl she used to be. and that's just a little bit terrifying. because that girl was hurt and vulnerable. and feeling that way is the last thing breeze wants. but if you don't risk your heart, you don't gain love. it's a gamble, but a worthy one. and logan might just be a sure thing. this sounds super angsty, but it's actually not. this is fun and sweet, but not cloying. it's a solid contemporary romance. though be aware that while this is new to entangled's lovestruck imprint, this is a re-release. i never read the original so can't say if things have been edited.
My first book by this author & I really enjoyed it.
Breeze is a workaholic trying to make it to the top at a young age.
Logan enjoys a good balance of work & play & his attraction to Breeze is instant.
Can he convince Breeze to relax & live a little or will her past destroy everything he's working towards.
Looking forward to reading more from this author
What I liked:
The writing style
Standalone
HEA
I had a hard time staying interested in the story.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
Another good read! I'm very impressed by this authors writing style and story teling technique. Would definitely recommend
For the life of me... I could not get into this book. I have to be honest, the last 50 percent I skimmed because it dragged for me.
Breeze Cohen keeps telling everyone she only wants a career and to make something out of herself in her grandmother's company. Logan Chandler keeps telling everyone he wants Breeze and will do whatever it takes to make it happen. It was repetitive and boring. I almost stopped reading, but I had to see how it ended.
3.5 stars
This book has both cursing and on-screen sex. If those things bother you, you probably want to skip this story.
I wanted to love this book, I really did, but I really struggled with it. While I really liked Logan, his relentless pursuit of Breeze wasn't charming, it was obnoxious. He wasn't pursuing her for a relationship, he was pushing her to have sex CONSTANTLY despite her very articulate and accurate reasons for not wanting to have sex with him until her job was done and there could be no repercussions. Instead he chased her to the point where I felt really uncomfortable with it and was hoping she'd blow up at him. When they did finally have sex, it felt like she didn't so much fall for him as he wore her down and she just kind of quit fighting against his advances. Don't misunderstand me, there was nothing non-consensual about their sexual relationship, I just hated the methods he used to make it happen. I wish that Logan had respected her wishes and her professionalism and maybe pursued her for a friendship with her rather than constantly trying to seduce her. He knew nothing about her other than that she had turned him down for sex and that's why he was pursuing her. While the concept behind the story of Breeze and her job was pretty unique and interesting, the execution just didn't work for me.
I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher. I was under no obligation to write this review.
A cute read. Breeze is driven by her career and doesn't even have love on the horizon. Logan never seemed to want to give up on the chase. Not even the countless times Breeze turned him down. I like the characters both driven and focused. One saw life as take it as it comes and don't forget how to live. The other there is only work. It was a nice change of pace. I laughed a bit and wanted to smack Breeze a few times. But in the end I loved Breeze and Logan together, The chemistry once they gave in was off the charts. A overall fun read.
Not a fan of this one. All the new age mumbojumbo was distracting from what would have been a great story.
I loved it! Breeze Cohen is funny, smart, driven and very very ambitious! She is determined to become the youngest store manage in the history of the retail chain she works for so is willing to take on an impossible project that will show that her job comes first, last and always! Logan Chandler is also funny smart and successful, but the former athlete is also a big believer is work/life balance after a near-fatal accident ended his athletic career. The two of them have chemistry and heart in spades, but will it be enough to overcome the obstacles in their way?
I enjoyed this much more that I was expecting (which sounds bad, but isn't intended as a reflection on the author). I've read books by Bailey-Burke before so I knew what a good writer she is, bit I was expecting a well written, but fairly standard, opposites attract romance, but I got a lot more! There was real heart in this story. Breeze, for all her ambition and drive to succeed, has real heart and hasn't allowed her ambition to stop her from making real friends and earning their loyalty. Logan never sets out to deliberately sabotage her ambitions, he just doesn't want her to drive herself into an early grave because he cares about her. They are just lovely and although the conflicts were never life and death, they were enough that the fledgling relationship could have easily been destroyed at any time and that kept me happily turning the pages.
This was originally published back in 2012 and I'm not sure if the previous edition was different but either way this is certainly a book I would recommend!

Breeze Cohen is determined to be the youngest store manger at her company, beating her grandmother’s record of 28. She is determined and driven and hasn’t got time for anything but work until she falls into the arms of Logan Chandler, who has other goals of living life to the full. He is determined to break down the walls Breeze has constructed around herself, one brick at a time.
Wow! I so enjoyed Breeze’s voyage of discovery, I’m definitely looking up more of Jenna’s stories.
