I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.
Ruth Colbert isn't looking for love, but spending the night with Liam Dempsey is the perfect way to let off some steam. Not expecting anything more than one-night, Ruth is unprepared for Liam and his determination to spend more time with her. But with Liam looking to leave Antero, will he be able to convince Ruth to give him a shot at happy ever after; or will Ruth's past and her problems with her ex force her to put some distance between her and Liam?
Just like the first book of this series, Ms. Benjamin delivers a wonderful and engaging read. However, in this book the heroine faces a tough time because of her ex pressuring her to let him spend time with the daughter he rarely spends time with; and the hero having to decide what he's going to do in terms of leaving town or staying. The way this story started had me wanting to get to know more about the hero and heroine, as the heroine definitely needs to let loose and have fun and what a better way to do that than to spend a little time with the hero. What will the hero decide to do? Will the heroine be able to convince him to stay?
As for the dialogue, it was riveting, made this story fast-paced, and I loved every interaction between the hero and heroine as well as between the hero and the heroine's daughter, as she tries to get Liam's help because she wants her mother to say yes to something the young girl desperately wishes to do. I also liked the hero and heroine's back stories, as Liam hasn't had the easiest time with what happened between him and his sister when it came to their family legacy and the heroine has done her best as a single mother to raise her daughter while running her café.
The heroine is resilient, hard-working; finds it hard to open up because of what she went through with her ex; and I liked how protective she was of her daughter when it came to her ex. Will she allow her daughter to visit with her father, even knowing what the man is like in that he might not spend a lot of time with the young girl? I also liked how Ruth handled her ex and that she didn't allow him to get walk all over her when it came to making plans and expecting her to be amenable. While the hero, he's confident; hard-working; and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though he knows he's leaving and shouldn't get involved with her. I also liked the growing bond between the hero and the heroine's daughter. Really, the young girl is lucky to have Liam on her side.
Overall, Ms. Benjamin has penned another enjoyable read in this second book of her Brewing Love series where the chemistry between this couple was instantaneous from the moment they came face-to-face for the first time; the romance nicely-detailed and had me hoping that Liam would be able to win the heroine's heart; and the ending had me loving the decision the hero made because he needs Ruth in his life just as much as she needs him in hers. I would recommend Saison for Love by Meg Benjamin, if you enjoy the sister's friend trope or books by authors Jill Shalvis, Jenna Bayley-Burke, Shannon Stacey and Erin Nicholas.
this is a really cute and heartwarming story that i really enjoyed reading
Loved this single parent romance! Great chemistry between the characters and a sweet romance - this was perfect!
This is really amazing story which I totally enjoyed reading. Will be trying more by this author and I hope more do too. Overall a really great book and I hop more people give this book ago too. Would recommend
I used to work at a brewery so reading a story that has beer as part of its theme, was pretty refreshing. Pun intended. I felt that the story was well written with an easy flow and I could tell that the author spent time learning about the brewing process, as well as cheese making, before inserting information into the book. Which is always appreciated. It helps make the story feel more real.
The pacing felt a bit slow at times, yet it fit with the easy feel of the story. It wasn't in a hury, kind of like the brewing process. While I enjoyed the book, I didn't get quite enough of a feel for Ruth and Liam's love story. Maybe it has something to do with the pacing? It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but I just wanted a little something more to really feel the sizzle between them, the warm fuzzies.
As for the characters as individuals, they were well balanced. Carol definitely came across as the pouty preteen fighting for some independence while struggling to understand her adult parents. Yet, she was also sweet and deep down felt loyalty to Ruth and cared about how she was treated. Peaches was quite likable too with her enthusiasm for baking and need to step in when Ruth was faced with an emergency, so that spoke volumes about her good character.
Overall I enjoyed this story and think it's well worth the read. Since it is a series I think it would be worth reading the previous story too, even though Saison for Love can stand on its own.
I loved this book, it's got it all. Great story, great setting and even better characters. I loved Liam and Ruth. Meg does such a great job bringing these characters to life in this story that you feel like you really know them. You get angry when Liam is angry and sigh in exasperation with Ruth when she's dealing with her daughter, who for the most part was a pretty cool kid.
I didn't put this one down, I just loved the whole storyline, Liam and his sister as brewers, his sister now taking that over, he does help out now and then. The bar he works at has been bought out and the new owner is a half wit and running it into the ground. Liam already has a back up plan in place.
Ruth, who owns a cafe and is known for her goat cheese. Yup, that's right, goats. Her brother is a goat farmer, she's also lived the life and is a single parent. When her cook/chef/expert morning muffin maker leaves, she's without a dependable cook and hires a ??, you can fill in that blank, luckily Liam steers the chef from his bar to Ruth and it's a match made in heaven. Are Liam and Ruth the same? Ruth and Liam's sister are best friends, she works for Ruth part time too, but they're keeping their blossoming relationship a little quiet for now. Ruth has been burned once in a bad way and her ex continues to hijack her life via her daughter. I felt so bad for her. But you'll love her when she plays little Miss Matchmaker with Ruth and Liam. I loved it! Smart kid.
So the story bobs and weaves and you get sucked right in and then, the proverbial cheese doesn't curdle and my heart skipped a couple beats. My grip grew tighter on my kindle as the story took the long way home. And what a story it was.
Meg, great book! I loved every single minute of it. A well deserved 5 star book.

loved the dynamic between these two people. Liam was great and so with Ruth. They have been friends for a while. love books where they find it slowly and not just jump into anything. Great story.
The sequel to Love on Tap, this story focuses on some different characters with the same sweet romantic notions as the first. It would help quite a bit if you had read the first before moving to this one.
Liam is this good looking (which you can tell from the way women seem to want to throw themselves at him) bartender/brewer who is only too happy to supply the women with what they want. Benjamin has supplied us with the quintessential bad boy women can’t wait to get in bed and then become incredibly surprised when he doesn’t turn out to be commitment material.
To balance the ego and eye rolling masculinity we also get Ruth. A strong, beautiful, independent woman. She normally puts herself and her career ahead of men but wow I wish Liam was real and I could meet him because even he manages to convince her to hop aboard the Liam express.
Occasionally there comes a time in every bad boys life when he meets the woman who CAN alter his ways and it’s possible Ruth is Liam’s kryptonite. They’ve been friends for years so there wasn’t the insipid insta-love that seems so prevalent.
Since every good romance novel needs a twist, some kind of hardship the couple needs to overcome in order to prove they belong together, you have no need to worry because it has been provided in the form of an ex who appears out of thin air suddenly wanting a relationship with his daughter.
The dialogue was written in a conversational tone and the story moved pretty fast so it felt more like you were watching a movie than reading a book. It feels like she put her heart into these characters and the story they needed to tell; it is well balanced giving us context through both the eyes of Ruth and Liam.
Overall it’s a sweet story that will leave you feeling happy you gave it a chance.
Saison For Love by Meg Benjamin is book 2 in this series with Bec’s (Love on Tap) brother, Liam having his story. It has a flowing narrative, something that Ms. Benjamin does an excellent job at providing so that the reader is pulled easily into the story. Another thing Ms. Benjamin gives the reader is realistic likable characters which she has done with Liam and Ruth.
Liam seems like a self-centered male but really who does he have to look out for except himself. Liam’s sister is happy with her love and her brewery so the only person he needs to look after is himself. This seemed pretty normal to me Ruth, in contrast, has a daughter that she must consider in every decision she makes. I was rooting for them to work through the many events, decisions and perplexities that life threw their way.
book 2 in the brewing love series, connects aimless brewer/bartender liam dempsey with single mom and cheesemaker ruth colvert. even though they both lived in the small colorado town of antero, and liam's sister worked with ruth, their paths never really crossed until ruth decided to go out one night to let off some steam.
when liam notices her in his bar he's captivated. and soon they're enjoying one night of fun in the back room of his sister's brewery. ruth's life is complicated, what with raising her precocious daughter and running her small café/delicatessen. liam doesn't seem like the type to stick around when things get tough. he'd already bailed on his sister when their brewery hit hard times and as the bar he works for gets run into the ground he's already got a backup plan in his back pocket.
ruth doesn't think that she'll have any problem avoiding liam after their one night stand, after all she hardly knew of him before. but now she finds herself tripping over him all the time. if his goal is to wear her down until she can't deny him any further. well, it's effective. what makes liam and ruth so charming together is how well they balance each other out. where ruth is too serious, liam is light-hearted. ruth has put down roots, while liam is content to play the will-o-wisp.
as impossible as it seems for two very different people to work, liam and ruth are better together than they are apart. and once they figure that out good things happen.
An enjoyable and well written romance about Liam Dempsey (the brother of Bec Dempsey, the protagonist from Love On Tap the first book in the series) and Ruth Cobert (Bec's friend, employer and artisan goat's cheese maker). Liam didn't acquit himself all that well in Love On Tap, he came across as pretty selfish and self absorbed for a lot of it, though he'd started to redeem himself by the end. In Saison Of Love he finds himself at a crossroads, the bar where he's been working is closing and his sister is the primary driving force in their brewery and happily settled with a good man. He has been offered a new job in a new town and he's tempted by the opportunity. Ruth has spent years devoting hers of to her business and to raising her twelve year old daughter. She's never had the time to date but now she finds herself tempted by the very sexy Liam. They both have some pretty big decisions to make, Liam has to decide which direction to take his future, and Ruth has to decide if she can make room for Liam in her and her daughter's lives. To add to e complications her ex comes back wanting to know his daughter.
This was a really well written story and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters. I thought the dialogue was excellent and was eagerly turning pages to see what would happen next.
Recommended.
