3 out of 5 stars! About a decade ago, Reece dreamed of a woman that had red hair and who he needed to save. Therefore, he followed what his dream told him and moved away from his pack in North Carolina to Chicago where he became a detective. Yet, those years hit him hard by living in a city and being away from his family, so the day he decides to finally go back home for good he meets the woman from his dream, Hannah. She definitely needs his help as she has someone who wants to kill her. But are they both ready for all the new changes that fate has in store for them?

Okay I was totally into this novel along with Hannah and Reece’s relationship up until the 75% mark. Than at that point the “thriller part” wound down, they get “serious” about their feelings, and we find out that Hannah is really a wishy-washy mess. Yet, I do understand. I mean with her upbringing it does make sense, but that does not mean I enjoyed that section of this novel. Since the ONE THING, I enjoy about PNR novels is that I can get into believable insta-love romances, and Hannah just put too much realism into this novel for me. Which is funny because most people with “insta-love book issues” would probably enjoy Hannah more (than I did) because of her attitude. Oh wells.

However, if I was keeping score, it really was Reece that made me engrossed within this novel as much as I was. He is one commanding presence that intrigued me just as much as it did Hannah. Plus, finding out his background and how that formed who he is, as this is the first novel within this series I had, hooked me too. I will admit that once everything “aligned” within Hannah and Reece’s lives they did make a good couple, but it was only because of Reece’s commitment to her that it all works out for them (in a way).

Nevertheless, I DO recommend it to those who are fans of Ms. Walters novels (as I am) and/or if you are looking for a unique paranormal shifter romance!

This is the 8th book in the “Salvation Pack” series. This is also (at the time I read this book) the first in this series that I had read. I felt this can easily be read as a standalone. I felt the author did a great job with giving the readers some background but not so much to make it too wordy and boring.
Most people ignore their dreams but not Chicago police detective Reece Gallagher, he goes as far as moving away from his family, from his pack to find his dream. Unfortunately, after ten years and only seeing his dream from the back of her head, Reece, is ready to go home. He's got one more case to solve then it's back to North Carolina.
Hannah Burdette knows someone is following her as she walks to work at an ungodly hour. Of course having a job as a barista someone has to. After being in hiding all life and on her own since the young age of 18, she's learned when it's time to move on. When Hannah is a block from work she gets attacked and not by your regular everyday attacker but by a wolf dressed as human. Lucky for her she knows all about them but not so lucky for her, this is the very species she has been hiding from because being a half breed is not acceptable in eyes of some packs.
After her attack Hannah reluctantly goes to the ER. In her dizzying attempt to run, Reece stops her so he can question her about the attack. When Reece realizes Hannah is the dream girl he's been searching for, his mate, he knows he will do anything to protect her and get them both back to the safety of his pack.
But can Hannah give Reece her trust so easily, her heart?
Guess you'll have to read it for your self to find out! After reading this story I just had to get more from this series and look forward to reading more. If you like shifter books with action, suspense and a little mystery, this is a read for you. Enjoy!

I love the Salvation Pack series and hate that I waited so long to read Wolf in her Soul! Hannah has been living on the run her entire life. She is half blooded wolf and her dad made sure she knew that there were people who wanted all the half blooded wolves dead. Her dad abandoned her when she was 18 and she has been jumping from town to town ever since. Then she is attacked and Reece enters her life.

I liked the lone wolf aspect of Hannah's life. She doesn't know much about her species and has spent her entire life terrified of any other wolf. Reece knows she is his mate right away but doesn't want to freak her out or push her to0 hard given her lack of knowledge of other wolf packs and their behaviors. Reece is a great hero-brave, protective, and totally devote.

There is plenty of danger from Hannah's stalker and then from the huge life changing decision Hannah has to make regarding her future. Wolf in her soul is a quick read and perfect for fated mates fans like me!

Love crosses all boundaries…

I was happy to see Reece getting his story – I needed him to find his love, he so deserved one! And Hannah was perfect for him. He’d waited years, almost gave up hope, before she entered his life. Too bad she was determined that nothing would come between them, other than distance…

“She was a half-breed, a wolf in her soul, but not in truth.”

The Salvation Pack was this mix of seeming misfits in the shifter world. Hannah was on the run for the same reason. As they came together for safety and then for love, their journey through those differences, to come to a peace was a mental exercise hard won. And they did it in the midst of grave danger and on the run. Family to back them up, and their own convictions and will to fight, kept them going…

“It’s too much too soon.”

Hannah was so alone yet so strong while Reece, surrounded by supportive family, felt adrift being so apart from them. One fighting the promise of love while the other battled to have it, for both of them. Reece was persistent and Hannah was stubborn but the caring, the love they both felt couldn’t help but win out in the end.

While the mystery surrounding Hannah’s family felt undone, the sweet coming together of two souls fighting to find their place, was sweet, at times scorching, and above all, fully satisfying…. I can’t wait now for Mikhail’s story!

This was pretty good. The set up was excellent with the introduction of a brutal and clever werewolf who hunts down half breeds as the bad guy. The lead characters, Hannah and Reece, were well realised and sympathetic and to this point I was really enjoying it, however at the 66% mark the plot changed abruptly and from that point all of the potential problems that came up were quickly dealt with without fanfare which made the heroine seem slightly neurotic and made it hard to get worked up about the HEA. Still it was a solid and well written story and I did enjoy it. Recommended.

It reads extremely well as a stand alone. This was a fun book to read. I enjoyed it. I rate this as a 3.5. I think most paranormal romance readers would enjoy this book.

WOLF IN HER SOUL will have you spellbound from the first word and when you reach the end, you will simply want more. The Salvation Pack has been one of my favorites from author N.J. Walter, this is a pack of half-breeds, non-shifting weres, humans, kids and men who can and will protect those that need protection.

If you are a fan of the series then you remember that Reece was the one who was stuck as the "dog" in WOLF ON A MISSION (This is when Elias Gallagher was taking his half-breed nephews to safety in Sanctuary and meets Sue, his future mate, and her little son). He has a dream of a red-haired woman in Chicago that sent him there. He had already given notice and prepared to go home when he finally finds her.

I felt sad for Hannah and her upbringing, on the run, afraid to find her own kind and fearing that she wasn't good enough, which she believed was really why her parents abandoned her. She is sweet, gutsy though a little afraid to accept what Reece offers. But do not fear Ms. Walters knows how to get her couples together and give her readers what they want.

If you want sexy shifters, a sweet and steamy romance, danger and intrigue then WOLF IN HER SOUL is the perfect paranormal for you.

Remember Reece when we first met him? Even if you don’t, this story is a really great addition to the world of werewolves. This book can probably be read as a standalone, but would be better appreciated as part of the larger world.

Reece is a detective, a werewolf, and he’s also a closet romantic. After dreaming of a mystery for most of his life, he has been hoping for her arrival for years. When he finally reaches his breaking point, ready to head home to be with his twin and pack again, she stumbles right into his world. Hannah, the mystery woman, doesn’t have the most wonderful introduction to Reece. She’s stalked, attacked, and is in the hospital when they finally meet one another.

While Reece is ready to dive right into a relationship, Hannah has a little bit harder time adjusting to this world where she’s not somehow “less” because of her partial werewolf heritage. Who knew an abandoned young girl could somehow end up inheriting such a wonderfully protective mate and family? The romance is somewhere between fated mates and regular paranormal romance levels, but don’t worry – these two light up the pages! As a standalone or companion to the series, this book is definitely a great read.

Each book in the Salvation Pack series does a masterful job of engrossing you in the life and troubles of an individual and their soon-to-be mate, while weaving them easily into the pack's extended family. WOLF IN HER SOUL continues this trend with Reece and Hannah's lives. Overall, the plot had an intriguing thriller-esque quality to it with plenty of tense moments balanced out with the passion of Reece and Hannah's blossoming romance.

I loved the idea that Reece had dreams of Hannah for years and altered his life to search for her. Not being a huge romantic myself I thought that was actually a really huge romantic, touching, and risky thing for him to do. Hannah's story was super heartbreaking so I was quite happy to watch her get a happily ever after with Reece. Luckily there was a lack of the more annoying traits alphas tend to have in these books so I was on board with Reece and Hannah being together from the beginning. I loved the care Reece took with making Hannah feel safe considering her backstory.

While I liked the thrill of finding out who was stalking Hannah and the danger involved in that chase, the conclusion was not satisfying. The issue with Hannah's father and his reason for leaving her was not that great and I felt that they should have been angrier with him. It felt like the story shrugged off the fact that he left his daughter to deal with life in a constant state of fear and paranoia. I needed more explanation from him and various other odd plot points surrounding Hannah's stalker.

Aside from my issues with the conclusion of WOLF IN HER SOUL, the story was solidly entertaining and the characters were people who you wanted to root for right away. I find this series to be one of my comfort reads for some reason and will definitely continue on with future books!

Another great read from N J Walters, although book eight in a series, it can absolutely be read as a standalone.

A nice and easy to get absorbed in PNR read, lots of action and chemistry between the H/h. I really enjoy this authors writing, I will definitely be going back to read the previous books in this series.

For the past decade Detective Reece Gallagher has worked hard protecting the city in order to meet the woman that has haunted his dreams. So, when he goes to talk to an assault victim and finds Hannah Burdette, Reece knows he'll do everything to protect her from the monster stalking her. But when the threat is gone, will Hannah stay or will her trust issues send her running?

Every single book of this series has been a delight to read with this story coming in a close second on my best of the series list. Really, Reece and Hannah's story is absolutely captivating because of everything this couple go through on their journey to happy ever after, especially since it's not easy for the heroine to trust after how she grew up. The way this story started with the prologue had shivers running down my spine, as the man hunting half-breeds is pure evil and needs to be taken down before he kills anyone else. Will Reece and his partner be able to take the bad guy down? However, it was from the moment that Reece and Hannah meet where things get very interesting, as the hero begins acting out of character. Will the hero's partner ever learn the truth about why Reece is so protective of the heroine?

As for the dialogue, it had me totally enthralled due to how intense it was because of the guy hunting Hannah. Would Reece be able to keep her safe? How far is Reece willing to go to see justice served for Hannah? Moreover, both the main characters are well-developed and had me enjoying every time they conversed, as the heroine doesn't make things easy for Reece. How long will it take her to realize that she can trust the hero? Will Hannah ever be able to see past everything her father drummed into her about werewolves and the danger they can bring to her life because she's a half-breed; something full-bred wolves classify as abominations?

While the hero, he's confident, a very good detective that has done his duty to serve and protect for years, and I loved how protective he was of the heroine. I also liked how accepting the pack was of Hannah, because she's never had anyone she can rely on except her father. I also liked that determined Reece was to show Hannah that she didn't have to fight the guy after her alone. That she could rely on him to help drive her stalker away or end him, depending on how far the man wanting to kill her was willing to go.

Overall, Ms. Walters has delivered another exciting and wonderful read for this series where the paranormal elements were superb, the chemistry between this couple was intense; the romance full of exquisite heat and passion; and the ending of this story had me on the edge-of-my-seat because of what happens to the main characters, yet had me cheering for this couple's happy ever after because Hannah is good for Reece and vice-versa. I would recommend Wolf in her Soul by NJ Walters as well as all the books of this series, if you enjoy paranormal romance and books by authors Milly Taiden, Bianca D'Arc, Sasha Summers and Suzanne Wright.

I have loved and followed the Salvation Pack series for years now. I was captured by the first book and will follow this series until there are no more stories to be told from Salvation, North Carolina. Wolf In Her Soul takes place away from pack land, leaving Reece and Hannah to make their way back to Salvation on their own… with a crazed stalker, perhaps killer hot on their trail. Normally I’d suggest reading this series from the start – yet as this is the eighth story, that might not be practical for everyone. You “could” read Wolf In Her Soul on it’s own without knowing background, especially since only a portion of their story takes place on pack land. In my opinion, you’ll have a better experience for reading the entire series – and it’s a damned good series – but if you can’t, then simply enjoy this one. I would highly recommend this story and the entire series to any Paranormal or Shifter Romance reader. You’ll find an interesting plot, likable characters and the satisfaction of a stand on it’s own story or the nuances of following a series with familiar faces.

What feels like forever ago I stumbled onto NJ Walters’ Legacy series and I really enjoyed it. I then read the first book in the Salvation Pack series and liked it, but didn’t love it. When I saw the rave reviews for some of the other books in the series, my interest was sparked again. As soon as I saw Wolf In Her Soul available on Netgalley I decided to go for it. Unfortunately, this was another book that was okay but I didn’t love it.

A good beginning introduced us to Hannah, a half-breed werewolf, who has spent her life staying away from areas where full-blooded werewolves could discover her. Half-breeds are looked down upon and some will kill them on sight if found. While living in Chicago she’s attacked and discovers she’s acquired a full blood werewolf stalker.

Reece, not quite a half-breed but also not a full blood, had a dream ten years prior that he needed to be in Chicago to save a woman. He’s now a Chicago police detective who is torn about his job. He’s a good cop but the rigors of the job are wearing on him and after ten years he’s ready to give up the dream girl and go home. Called in to investigate Hannah’s attack, he realized she’s the girl in the dream.

I liked Reece, especially in the beginning. Determined to get Hannah to safety he immediately sets out to get her to his real home, the Salvation Pack. Hannah, who has been told to avoid werewolves and their packs, takes some convincing.

I never did warm up to Hannah. She was quite the sad sack, very down on herself and just a ball of angst. I kept hearing Linda Ronstadt’s song Poor Poor Pitiful Me playing in my head whenever her inner dialogue filled the pages.

The stalker was a huge turn off for me. He was so cartoonish and ridiculous I had a hard time taking him seriously no matter how many times he congratulated himself on how very smart he was.

I felt like this book had a lot of promise but it was just too short to really flesh out the plot and the characters. For me, it ended up being a shadow of what it could have been with shallow characters and a rushed plot which left a few strings dangling. It was somewhat entertaining, but it frustrated me it didn’t live up to its potential.

Reese was a detective with the Chicago PD. He worked in violent Crime Investigations. Sean was his partner and let him know they had caught another case -Arson and possible murder. Reese was a half breed werewolf but he was three fourths werewolf. He also had a twin named Sage. When he got to the scene Reece knew there was only one way a body could burn so hot without an accelerant here a body could turn to dust so that nothing remained and that was to be a werewolf or a werewolf half breed. Reece was with The Salvation Pack in North Carolina. Reece was an anomaly- a thing of myth and legend . It is rare to be a half breed and have children but his mother had. Then to be a twi was like winning the lottery it was so against the odds that it was thought to be impossible. Reese also had an extra ability that all known half breeds didn't have he could shift into his wolf form. Reece was tired of all the senseless violence and was ready to go home to his brother and pack. When Reece turned eighteen he had a dream that had changed the course of his life. In the dream there was a faceless red headed woman and she was in danger. Reece had this dream over and over and he knew that she would be in Chicago if he found her but he had to try so instead of working in construction or or making furniture with his Uncle Elias Reece went to Chicago it had been ten years and Reece was ready to give up on the dream woman. He had given his PD notice he was leaving Hannah knew someone was following her . She trusted her instincts as that had saved her life more than once But then the coffee shop- Coffee Expressions that Hannah worked at came into view and Hannah felt safe. Hannah hated the crowds and the noise of the big city but her father had told her to stay in city’s as she would be safer. Hannah lived cheap and saved what money she could as she had a dream. If the feeling of being followed persisted Hannah would pack up and leave Chicago like she had been doing all her life. But she didn't really want to leave Hannah liked the people she worked with. When Reece went back to the arson scene a young man came forward and told him that the dude was big like Reece and moved like Reece too, like he was prowling. The man had a dark leather coat and his eyes seemed to glow in the dark. The witness had confirmed Reece's worse fears. The witness was tough by anybody’s measures but he had been afraid of what he had seen. That spoke volumes to Reece. The killer was a werewolf. Reece didn’t know if this was a isolated pack incident between pure werewolves or if the killer was targeting half breeds. Hannah’s father had trained Hannah to defend herself Secrecy and the need for it had been drummed into Hannah’s head since she had been a toddler by her father. Hannah’s father had raised her by himself but when Hannah was eighteen they went their separate ways ad Hannah ahadn’t seen or heard from her father since. Hannah had heightened senses, and abnormal strength and speed. She also needed extra food to function. As Hannah walked to work a couple days after feeling she had been followed she was excited as after today Hannah had two days off to go around and just take pictures which was Hannah’s passion and she was good at it. But then a man stepped in front of Hannah and she knew he was a werewolf and he told her she looked lovely and he even knew her name and then he said it was a pity he had to kill her. He half turned into a wolf and his razor sharp claws tore into Hannah’s skin. He then told Hannah to run but she knew that he wanted to chase her and bring her down. He liked the hunt and her fear. Then the man heard several people and he told Hannah this wasn’t over and she couldn’t hide from him When Hannah asked who he was he just said she would know soon enough and he took off. Hannah didn’t want to go to the hospital but was taken anyway Reece was sitting with a cup of coffee with Sean called and said there had been an assault on a female. Reece went to the hospital and realized this was the woman of his dreams that he had told noone about. Reece felt this was the same killer from the arson case but he had been sloppy with Hannah so he felt it was more personal. Reese wanted to lift Hannah up and carry her away from there. He didn’t want anyone else around her and neither did his wolf. Her scent wrapped around Reece and chained him in place. Reece didn’t like the fear in Hannah’s eyes but he understood the last wolf she had met had tried to kill her. Reece could tell Hannah was a half breed werewolf. Reece felt Hannah was his to protect. She was the reason for everything he had done in his adult life. Hannah realized her attacker had repelled her from jump street but she was attracted to Reece. Her reaction to reece totally confused her. Reece took her to his apartment after getting her stuff at her apartment and he fed her and got her settled in his bed to sleep as she needed that to heal. Reece knew Hannah was his mate. Hannah filled the empty spot in Reece’s soul and heart. The killer was near Hannah’s apartment he had a nose for misfits that were neither human or wolf. If Hannah was who he thought she was the reason he did what he did. The reason his life had changed a second time. Reece was taken Hannah to his home and pack.
I loved this story it was just a great read. I loved the plot, the pace, and the action. I loved how Reece was so patient with Hannah. I was so glad Hannah didn’t have to be alone anymore if she o9nly accepted things. I loved Reese and Hannah together. I also loved Reece and Sage’s relationship and the love Elias had for the men.I love the Salvation pack and how accepting they were. Just all and all a great book and romance that I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about it. I even got another book boyfriend in Reece. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend

Wolf in Her Soul by N.J. Walters begins like a police thriller with the reader seeing inside the murderer’s head. From there the suspense builds as well as the romance. What makes this unique is the paranormal aspects and the mystical dreams aspects.

The plot is strong, the perspectives varied with the main characters and the murderers. The hero, Reece is a good cop werewolf that has made it in the human world. I liked him a lot but after meeting Hannah, his alpha disposition became clear. Hannah is a tough, well-liked nomad thanks to her half-breed status. Their relationship grows in direct proportion to the danger surrounding Hannah. The twisted motives of the killer become clearer as the story proceeds, making it an exciting romantic read.

Wolf in Her Soul is an engrossing read. It is part of a series but I had not problem enjoying this book without having read the entire series.

When I requested this book I wasn't aware it was part of a series. I haven't read any of the previous books, but it worked fine as a stand alone. I would have liked more of a background on the other characters, but it didn't impact my reading. This was truly a traditional shifter PNR. It was not a bad read, but it didn't have that extra hook that really grabbed me.

I love finding good paranormal romance, too bad I didn't find it sooner! Book 8 in N.J. Walters' Salvation Pack series it can be read as a stand alone, less than half of the book actually takes place in Salvation Pack so the past couples make an appearance but it's not so overwhelming that you feel lost in the past history of the pack.

Reece Gallagher has been working as a Detective in Chicago for the last ten years searching for a dream. He hates being away from his pack mates and his family especially his twin brother but he has had the same dream for as long as he can remember it's of a faceless woman with red hair who needs his help and she's in Chicago. Reece is on the verge of giving up he's already put in his notice to quit when he gets called on an assault and the woman, the victim, is the red head in his dreams.

Hannah Burdette has lived her life on the run, always prepared to leave at a moments notice and how to defend herself all because she's a half breed. Her Father raised her taught her to always hide who she is because if a full blooded wolf ever found her it could mean her death. When she turned eighteen he left and ever since Hannah has been on her own. Hannah never knew anything else never expected anything else so when she is attacked by a full blooded wolf she is prepared to leave and never look back but the cop assigned to her case isn't going to let her go alone. Reece convinces Hannah that she will be safe with his pack and they start to head out of Chicago and head to Virginia, and Reece's home. Hannah has a hard time accepting everything Reece is telling her because it is so different than what she is use to, and the sheer thought that they are mates is completely foreign to her. Hannah also is finding it difficult to accept the packs help for fear that something might happen to them because of her. Reece has the whole drive to convince her otherwise.

Overall, the suspense conflict with the full blooded psychopathic wolf ends too quickly for me, leaving the latter half of the book to deal with Hannah's internal conflict. Which is fine I love good internal conflict, but I love suspense even more. Other then that I really enjoyed this book.

Wolf in her Soul may be the 8th book in the Salvation Pack series, but can absolutely be read standalone with no issues. I really got a kick out of werewolf Detective Reece Gallagher even if he did get familiar with ½ werewolf Hannah Burdette while she was a traumatized victim. I guess finding your mate overrides common sense. Other than that I really enjoyed this book and will have to go back and read the earlier books now that I know they exist. If you like werewolves and romantic suspense you should enjoy Wolf in her Soul.

Reese was a wolf shifter who lived in Chicago as a cop. He hated city life, but he kept having dreams about a redheaded woman he was meant to save. He finally finds Hannah after she saved herself from a murdering wolf shifter who thought all 1/2 breeds should die. Hannah had been raised by her father but abandoned when she turned 18. It had been drilled in her head to stay away from shifters.
Hannah had trouble accepting Reese and how he felt about her. After she met his pack and brother, it finally clicked that she loved him and wanted to stay with him.
I've read lots of shifter books and this one rank right up there with the best. I will be buying some of his other books soon.
