Thank you to Netgalley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. It was a real quick read, and it was a great love - to hate - to love story. I would definitely recommend reading it. It had a good story as well as steam.
This was definitely a fun and light read involving issues that a lot of small business owners deal with today. I loved the chemistry between the two characters and the sexual tension was steaming off the pages!
The author pretty much had me at hello when she described Dillon.
”tight jeans and a black T-shirt stretched tight over a taut back meant for fingernail marks”
Talk about an attention grabber! When she mentioned the tats, well that was just icing on the cake. I like that he called Alexa Princess. I also like that his character wasn’t the bad boy the author led us to believe in the beginning. He’s actually one of my favorite type of Hero’s. He didn’t fight his attraction to Alexa and he went out of his way to help her failing business because he wanted her to succeed. He was a hard worker and was just a genuinely good guy.
Alexa was a little bit harder character for me. She was the heroine that has a hard time letting people in. She wasn’t excited about Dillons suggestions to help better her business and she had already seen that he wanted to help when she learned the truth of who he was, yet still pushed him away. Thankfully the author didn’t keep us waiting to long bringing these two back together,
Dillon was really what had me in this story and made this worth the read for me. ARC provided by NetGalley.
Received in exchange for a honest review.
Alexa is a strong and stubborn woman. she is out to make her shop succeed and protect her heart as well. Unfortunately she becomes so focused on who she feels the enemy is that when it turns out someone loves her but may be having the name of her enemy she doesn’t see past the name and almost loses something precious love.
Dillon is a fun character. He wants to do good and help people succeed. He rebels against his brother but does see that he can work within the company to make the change he desires. He also gets back to being a brother to his brother and seeing that they both are different sides of the same coin and lost their way from one another. Alexa gets them to find their way to being brothers again even though they are drastically different in their views. I love how he helps Alexa and shows her how to bring business in without compromising what the store is about.
the attraction between Dillon and Alexa has it’s own heartbeat. It is felt in every interaction and watching Alexa slowly let Dillon in is fun and sensual. They definitely have chemistry and do learn from one another. If only Alexa could see beyond her focus on who her enemy is. Dillon is such a giving and caring guy. He also is honest. He has good intentions in all he does sometimes it doesn’t always seem it but he does. Watching him help Alexa while falling in love is entertaining and sweet.
The story is feisty in some of the passionate banter between them but also sensual in some of the moments they have. They learn about one another and to trust and respect each other as they find their way into the other’s heart. A story of family, trust and love. One that is fun and entertaining with saucy scenes and some banter that has you smile as you fall in love with the characters and how they find their way to each other and where they belong.
no flowers required is the second book in the love required series. alexa conroy is the owner of a struggling flower shop losing business to a value hardware store even though her products are better designed and of higher quality. they are also more expensive.
when she meets dillon james she mistakes him for the building handyman, not knowing that he owns part of the business she hates and technically owns the building she's renting both her storefront and her apartment from. dillon tries, not very hard, to explain to her who he is. but in the moment she is consumed by other things. like the crazy sexual chemistry that lights up between them.
before you know it they are in a relationship and the other shoe is going to drop because at some point he is going to have to come clean about who he is. and as these things happen, she kind of finds out in the worst possible way and he has to do a lot of groveling.
but again the sexual chemistry is undeniable. and it's also true that he may have withheld the truth about his identity but he never lied to her about who he was. he's not just some billionaire playboy. he is a guy who cares deeply about the environment, who likes to build things with his hands, who cares about the underdog enough to give them a fighting chance. he's the same guy that alexa fell in love with, just with a trust fund.
While I enjoyed this story, I thought it was kind of anticlimactic. I was kind of frustrated with the way it was wrapped up with in the end. I did however, think it was sweet and sexy and the characters were fun. Overall I would definitely read more from this author.
I did enjoy this book, I loved Dillon! He was such a sweet guy trying to help Alexis out, and be known for himself. Sigh.. Alexis, she was a go getter, she knew what she wanted and even though times were tough and her self doubt was starting to catch up, she didn't give up, and Dillon helped her with that. They were a good couple, of course the lie of who Dillon really was blew up, but the outcome brought out their fighting spirit..now to Cole's book.
Beautifully written. Sexy and sweey with a awesome HEA. Love this series!
Alexa is a florist whose store has been going through hard times in the wake of the economic recession. Dylan appears one day wearing a tool belt and she assumes he's her building's handyman, little does she know but he's a member of the family who owns the corporation who is driving her out of business!
I enjoyed this a lot. The writing is good, and I really liked Dylan who was incredibly sweet. I had some problems with Alexa though. A lot of female characters don't completely work for me as they seem to be trying to straddle the line between confidence and arrogance and I often find myself thinking they're a bit too much the latter! Any sympathy I felt towards Alexa for her struggles in keeping her business afloat and hurt when Dylan's deception is revealed was outweighed by her inability to recognise how caring he was and how he'd repeatedly gone out of his way to help her and the way she dragged out her hurt feelings no matter how he tried to apologise! If it had been Cody (his brother) who had engaged in the deception I could have understood her anger and the way she drew it out, but it was Dylan who (with the exception of this one great lie) was never anything other than sweet and loyal. This was entirely my own subjective opinion and I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue for most people but it was for me and consequently affected my rating.
I would still recommend the story though as Quinn is an excellent author and I'll be reading the others in the series soon.
