As a fan of other of Diane Alberts' works, I downloaded this with the hope I would enjoy it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into it at all. I initially took a break from it, intending to return to it later, but I've since lost interest. Thank you for providing a copy for review consideration!
CATCHING THE PLAYER - Diane Alberts
#3 The Hamilton Family romance series
GREAT CHARACTERS - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - Just after she decides to starting getting out of her comfort zone, Kassidy loses a bet and has to provide a singing telegram. And it happens to be for Wyatt Hamilton, star quarterback! The sparks start to fly right away, but they are both looking for different very things from a relationship.
Writing - 4 stars - This is a new-to-me author, and I am very happy to have discovered her. Her writing style was quick and casual and very easy to read. The plot made sense and, although the characters could have saved themselves a lot of anguish if they'd just talked to each other a little more, they were both very appealing and I was hoping for their success.
Characters - 5 stars - Wyatt seems like the typical hero at first--the star QB from a pro team, handsome, rich, etc. But as you get to know him better, you realize that he's unsure of himself, just like everyone else. Kassidy, an overthinker and a self-proclaimed bore, is cute and funny and totally unaware of how attractive and fun she is. Their immediate connection was great, and it made a lot of sense since they both have strict plans for their lives and are a lot alike in that way. I liked them both individually and loved them together.
Title - 4 stars - This definitely leads us in the sports direction, especially since Wyatt is also a player in the romance department. Many women are trying to catch him, except for the one who actually does.
Cover - 3 stars - Nice-looking guy and not the typical naked abs romance cover. Good cover but nothing special to draw the eye.
Overall - 4 stars - The characters were the real winners for me with this book. I found them both to be very appealing and relatable. Even though Wyatt is a superstar football QB, the book focuses much more on his personal life with just a few references to his professional life. Their immediate connection made sense to me. As soon as you looked under the surface, you could tell that they have very similar outlooks on life. And they both were apparently ready to take the next step in their lives. I haven't read the first two books in this series, but I didn't feel confused at all--this is definitely a standalone. However, I do want to go back and read those first two books to fill in the blanks and enjoy this family even more. This was a very enjoyable romance from a new-to-me author.
I was totally enchanted with Catching The Player. Diane Alberts wrote a delightful story that all started with a bet and a singing telegram and ended with love.
Kassidy was an interesting character. She was burned once by love and never got her self-esteem back. When Wyatt Hamilton asks her for a favor, she can’t stop herself from agreeing. The day may have started off on the wrong foot but definitely ended on a high note. She knows she is not his type and that nothing could ever come of their time together. He keeps reminding her that football is first and he can’t be in a relationship. But, he keeps showing up at her door, helping her, getting to know her and just being a wonderful person … nothing like what she would have thought the hottest man in the NFL would be.
Wyatt is not relationship material. He is married to football and he will not let anything come between him and the game. But, Kassidy is making him feel things that he never thought he would. He told her, right from the beginning, that it’s just “sex” and he can’t figure out why he can’t stay away or stop thinking about her.
As they finally start facing their feelings and Wyatt asks for more, it happens. Now, he may have lost the one woman that could fulfill him. She understands his drive, his determination and will not make any demands on him, and she’s proven that time and time again. Now, to get her to just talk to him again.
I loved Kassidy. She is the total package. She was amusing, determined, smart and definitely the perfect woman for a football player. Wyatt had his moments that stole my heart and then moments that I wanted to slap him. But, it wouldn’t be a romance without a little bit of angst.
I also enjoyed the writing style of Diane Alberts. She kept the story flowing and knew just when to throw in the humor. She melded the characters together and made them seamless. She was able to put two people together that were totally different and yet, wrote them so that they complimented each other. I truly enjoyed reading Catching The Player and am looking forward to more of the Hamilton’s.
I felt like this story was rushed; especially the ending.
Kassidy Thomas lives a quiet, comfortable life. She lost her high school sweetheart because she wasn't spontaneously enough and she thought through everything. After losing a football game bet to her brother, she has to do a singing telegram in person in a sexy costume. That's how she meets Wyatt Hamilton, the quarterback of the same team she lost her bet on.
Wyatt Hamilton has a reputation for being with beautiful girls but his one true love in his life is football. He refuses to fall in love and lose focus on the game. When Kassidy sings at his front door, he's intrigued with her. They get to know one another, but he constantly tells her that he can't offer her anything. But after seeing her being friendly with another man, he wants to be exclusive. Supposedly this all happens in a few weeks, but it seems longer than that.
Kassidy realizes that things with Wyatt will never change, but she can't stay away. When life-changing news makes Wyatt panic, Kassidy walks away for good. That's when he realizes that he can't live without her.
4.5 stars

loved how they met oh boy that would be seriously so embarrassing but it just fit for these characters. I really liked Wyatt and kassidy together they really helped each other grow to be stronger people. I hated the way he reacted to one thing and I thought she would address something with him that was left out. Other than that I really liked this story.
It was a quick read (if I were only reading) and fun.. and a little bit of drama and cheese at the end.. but all in all, lovely! 😍
Catching the Player is the 3rd sexy entry in the Hamilton Family series. I had been wanting to know more about Wyatt since Brett and Anna's story (The CEO's Seduction) and Catching the Player did not disappoint.
Kassidy has decided to live her life free of her overanalysis and overthinking ways. When she loses a bet to her older brother, thanks to Wyatt Hamilton healing faster than she had thought and winning the Atlanta Savior's game, she gets the chance to do something spontaneous for once. So off she goes to some woman's house to deliver a singing telegram while clad in a horrible, tight, 80s inspired costume. Only, when she arrives at her destination, Wyatt Hamilton is the recipient and Kassidy's even more flustered to be in the presence of so much hotness and muscles and yumminess, and she ends up breaking a family heirloom of his while in his home. So to pay him back she agrees to go to a dinner with him and help him negotiate his way through a dinner where he doesn't speak Chinese and she does.
Wyatt doesn't know what to make of the hot woman in the tight outfit who sings like a dying cat, but he knows he's inexplicably attracted to her. Asking her to go to his dinner where he's set to make a deal with a Chinese company is really just his way of keeping her around. He's not sure why, as he has no intention of seeing her again after. He isn't looking for love, or a relationship, or anything but to be the best quarterback in the game. Football is his life and he has no room in his life for anything but football. And yet, for some reason, he can't get Kassidy out of his mind and he keeps showing up at her place and hanging out with her and eventually taking her to bed. But how will Wyatt react when suddenly he might be feeling more for her than he had ever expected?
Kassidy knew better than to fall for the man who always told her he had nothing to offer her but friends with benefits, emphasis on the friends part. But when Wyatt reacts horribly to a sudden predicament they're facing, her heart is broken and she finally takes a stand against the man she fell in love with. It was at this point that I disliked Wyatt for the first time in Catching the Player. Up until that point I was completely charmed by him. He had been so sweet and unassuming, not so much like the arrogant playboys that litter sports romances these days. But his reaction to their situation really let me down, really let Kassidy down. I'm still not sure his grand gesture was enough for me to forgive him, but Kassidy forgave him so I guess he gets a pass.
Aside from that brief, but really bad, hiccup, I really liked Catching the Player. Wyatt and Kassidy are adorable together. So sexy and sweet and charming. I don't like that Wyatt reacted like a douche but I do like everything else about their story. I'm hoping for more from this series, and there are more Hamilton siblings, so I'm crossing my fingers!
Kassidy Thomas’ life was about to change forever. After losing a bet with her brother, Caleb, she is destined to meet Wyatt Hamilton, star quarterback of the Atlanta Saviors. She doesn’t take risks and hasn’t dated for 4 years. He is never seen with the same girl twice and his only commitment is football.
Can she be his friend with benefits knowing that he has no interest in a relationship or love? Will he accept her offer knowing that he doesn’t date girls her type because “all his life, there’d been only one goal–to play ball”.
Though I was a bit disappointed in Wyatt’s character at first, he eventually comes around and his grand gesture is bold and endearing. This is the third book in the A Hamilton Family Series and it stands well on its own. The book is charming, funny and the characters have real emotions that teared me up a couple of times. I read it in one sitting. Recommend.
If you love sports romances then Catching the Player is just right for you – if on the other hand you’re more into a touch of humor with your romantic mix then again this one is for you. It’s a win all around with a romance that touches on so many parts of life and delivers a really good story with emotions, laughter and a few nail biting moments.
Kassidy has been hurt by love before. She went into hiding and never really emerged again. Now she’s tired of remaining behind her curtain and she’s ready to take that chance at living fully once again. Her timing might have been a bit better for such a momentous decision but nothing gained… and did she ever gain one wonderful, funny, sexy man. Now if only she could keep him.
Wyatt is frankly married to his career, to the game and to football in every sense of the word. If a man can eat, sleep, and breathe football then that man is Wyatt Hamilton. So why is one admittedly cute, funny and really adorable female getting in his head so much that he’s making decisions he’d never, ever make. Like thinking of maybe forever… it might have worked except for that one mistake. Now he has to try to save something more important than a game, he has to save his love life and his future.
I had fun with Kassidy and Wyatt. Yeah, they’re opposites in many ways but they connect in the areas that matter. She’s blossoming again around this man, and he’s thinking that maybe there’s more to life than the commitment to the game this week. It is true that there were times that I really wanted to rattle Wyatt’s helmet – and he would have deserved it. Yet with apologies to the male population… sometimes guys just don’t get it until it hits them on the head. (to be fair, females act that way at times too).
Catching the Player is fun, emotional, and simply a good escape for a while. I enjoyed myself and I believe you would too. I’d definitely recommend this one, and check out the earlier books in the series, too.

"Catching The Player" by Diane Alberts
My Thoughts...
When it is all said and done this novel will definitely have you laughing out loud at some hilarious moments in this sports romance! You will find from the read that the two main characters Kassidy and Wyatt are definitely polar opposites and this author really does a good job in getting these two to together. As a matter of fact both Kassidy and Wyatt comes with a set of their own problems when you the reader will find yourself being pulled into this intriguing read. What will happen from the 'singing telegram, fun dinners to a good friendship that leads on to reluctant lovers? Will Kassidy be able to come out of her comfort zone and start dating? You will see from the read their will be a instant attraction for these two and will this lead from just a friendship to where they began to fall more for each other? How will Kassidy help Wyatt and what will happen when he starts to have feelings for her? How will Wyatt be able to take all of it in as he was just a NFL player who loves and lives only for the game? When it seems like all is going well between them until Wyatt finds out something about Kassidy. How will Wyatt deal with that situation as he will gets some help from his brother? Will there be a commitment or will things just end for these two? To find out you will have to pick up "Catching The Player" to see how well this author brings it all out so well to the readers.

What a heartwarming romance. Wyatt is a star quarterback and Kassidy is an account for her family's florist business. She looses a bet to her brother and has to deliver a singing telegram. She is shocked to learn that it is for her hometown football team's quarterback whom she happens to be a huge fan. She performs her song and sweeps Wyatt off his feet with her charm and "realness". He asks her to dinner to help him out with an international deal. He knows it will be one night only. He doesn't do repeats because he gives all his attention to football. But Kassidy captivates him and he can not get her out of his mind. So they spend time together as friends and one thing leads to another. These two together are so sweet and romantic. They fight their feelings until the very end. But a HEA does finally win out. Perfect romance.
3.5 stars - Frustrating at times, but cute meet premise.
This is part of the Hamilton Family series and is a sports-ish romance. We don't get a lot of sports in this one. Kassidy meets Wyatt after losing a bet. It's a unique meeting, but a little unrealistic how these two initially hook-up.
Things progress quickly and then things get complicated. Then Wyatt becomes a complete jack***!! Kassidy was a little too "whatever you want and no matter how little you give me" kind of person - especially when it really counted. Don't just let him off the hook!!
This one wasn't as entertaining as the others and I didn't like the characters as much. But it was humorous at times and I generally love Diane Alberts books - just didn't connect with this one as much.
I submitted a request to the publisher to read and voluntarily review an uncorrected advance copy of this book via Net Galley.
Making a bet with her brother was a bad idea, even though it leads to her singing horribly to NFL's most handsomest bachelor, Wyatt Hamilton. However, never did she imagine Wyatt would ask her out just when she's decided to start living again instead of hiding behind her past because of what her ex did to her. Accepting is a good idea in theory, but once they begin hanging out, Wyatt begins to see that there's more to life than football. Will he be able to convince Kassidy to take a chance on him, or will the unthinkable happen to send Wyatt running?
What a fantastic addition to the Hamilton series Ms. Alberts has delivered in this book where the title definitely fits the story with Wyatt being an NFL player and being a total player when it comes to women. However, in saying that, it was the incredible main characters and compelling dialogue that made this story a real page turner for me. As Wyatt is so focused on NFL and believes a relationship is impossible, yet he can't seem to stay away from the heroine. Will Wyatt realize that love and happiness are just as important as his career? Will he realize that having Kassidy in his life doesn't mean he can't continue to be one of the best in his sport?
Right from the moment the main characters met, I was absolutely charmed by this story, as Wyatt offers the heroine the chance to begin living her life again instead of hiding after the disaster of her last relationship that has left her wary of men. Kassidy is also courageous in taking a chance of Wyatt, even knowing he's a player. I also liked the tight bond the heroine shared with her brother that makes him protective of her. While the hero, he's confident, a smooth talker, focused when it comes to his career, and I liked how close he is with his family, which is proven by the advice they give him and what they do at the beginning for him that leads to his meeting the heroine. However, what I liked most of all about this couple's growing relationship is how the heroine helps the hero when it comes to negotiating his contract and how determined the hero is to win the heroine over once he realizes how much she means to him.
Overall, Ms. Alberts has delivered another wonderful and captivating read for this series where the secondary characters are just as riveting as the main ones; the chemistry between this couple was incredible; the romance was hot and shows how lucky Kassidy is to find a great guy that she can put her trust in again; and the ending had me loving the hero more than I already did because of what he does to win the heroine back after things went awry in their relationship. Truly, it was endearing that Wyatt would go so far to look like a fool to win Kassidy back. Will his theatrics end up on social media? However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up perfectly, because of how far Kassidy and Wyatt have come in their relationship and how much love there is between them. I would recommend Catching the Player by Diane Alberts, if you enjoy the opposites attract trope or books by authors Kira Archer, Jenna Bayley-Burke, Regina Kyle and Miranda Liasson.

I have not read a book by this author for a while, but it was everything that i was expecting. Its a fun, sweet read that sometimes had me laughing out loud, hoping against hope that the characters would find a happy place and that they were two well matched individuals who challenged each other to be better people.
We get a HEA of course and the epilogue gives us the ending that we so hoped would happen.
catching the player continues the hamilton family series with wyatt hamilton's story. he lives and breathes football, so the last thing he expects is to fall for a prank singing telegram performer. but fall for kassidy thomas he does.
it just takes him a while to figure this out. because he has always assumed that there would be nothing else in his life other than football. that in order to be the best football player he could be, he needed to eschew romantic entanglements or anything else that would distract from his focus on the game.
but without trying he finds himself all tangled up with kass. and she is trying so hard to only take what he is willing to give her. she's so used to planning out every aspect of her life and is sick and tired of feeling bored and uninspired. being with wyatt is anything but boring. and so what if she knows this is only going to end in heartbreak. being with him any way she can get him is worthwhile. or it will be worth her while until it's not.
and even though there is a huge misunderstanding that is partly all wyatt's fault for being a jerk and also partly all wyatt's fault for not realizing his true feelings quickly enough, the way he goes about making it all better is really sweet. in the end, the relationship that wyatt and kass have is everything. it's not just sex and romance, there is real friendship too. and that makes the story all that much sweeter.
Kassaidy losses a bet and has to deliver a singing telegram. Turns out the telegram is going to Wyatt Hamilton the person who made her loss the said bet. They hit it off right away. They start off as friends and it grows into more. This was a cute story that I enjoyed very much.
Enjoyable read with great characters hooked me right into the good storyline and kept me totally enthralled until the very end!
