So entertaining, right from the beginning! Kassidy Thomas is an accountant for her family's flower shop and she lost a bet to her brother and so she is delivering a singing telegram, the only problem is she cannot sing. She delivers to the one and only Wyatt Hamilton, quarterback for the Saviors. Sparks fly and they do not know what hit them. Wyatt has always said, told everyone actually, he would always remain single because he only had room in his life for football and his family but when Kassidy walks into his he doesn't know what hit him. He wants nothing more than to get to know her and soon even though they are both telling each other they are only friends it turns out to be so much more. Can they survive all the changes and will they adapt to the changes? This was so much fun to read and watch these two weave their way through their non-relationship. I definitely recommend this one!

This is an enjoyable romantic comedy with some ups and downs for me. Wyatt Hamilton, a pro-football player rehabilitating an injury meets Kassidy Thomas whose family runs a flower shop when she's tasked with providing a singing flower delivery to him (not her strong point!). It's the start of an unorthodox friendship that leads to a sexy friends with benefits relationship. The love scenes are well written and definitely fuel a connection between them - which makes Wyatt nervous as he's been clear from the outset that he's not interested in a relationship. Despite his words, he definitely feels some jealousy when he sees Kassidy with other guys. Some of his actions in the second half were kind of douche-y (yes, that's a word), but he does redeem himself in the end, and the epilogue is cute. I wouldn't classify this as a typical sports romance because there is no on-field playing time and the events occur in the run-up to the season. It's an easy, lighthearted, sexy read.

I haven't read the first two books in this series but that's ok because this book can completely be read as a standalone.

The beginning of this book had me in hysterics. Kassidy loses a bet to her brother and has to deliver a singing telegram in a pretty revealing costume. Except she can't sing, at all. The entire exchange at Wyatt's house had me laughing so hard I couldn't even see the screen. The chemistry and connection between Kassidy and Wyatt was immediate but Wyatt is married to football and isn't looking for anything to get in the way of that. Kassidy has taken herself out of the dating game but is ready to start living life again. They promise to not expect more than the other can give but that's not always possible when life throws curveballs your way.

I did really like Kass and Wyatt but there times that I just wanted them to get over themselves. Why can't Wyatt have a girlfriend and still be just as committed to football? Why can't Kass just say what she wants? I loved how their story came full circle at the end and the epilogue was insanely sweet. I will definitely be adding the first two books to my TBR!

Catching the Player by Diane Alberts was a fun sports romance that will grab you from the start. The quiet and serious girl and one of NFLs hottest bachelors, what can go wrong?

Kassidy Thomas is tired of hiding and not living life to its fullest. So she decides she is going to start living. What she did not expect is to find herself singing, horribly mind you, to the one and only, Wyatt Hamilton.

Wyatt loves to play and he is damn good, both in and out of the field. Being a football player is what he has always wanted. His NFL career is his priority. He has no time for relationships. So he does not understand how the woman who delivered a singing telegram is now always on his mind.

Somehow Wyatt keeps finding himself with Kassidy, though he keeps reminding her and himself, repeatedly, he cannot be in a relationship. But the more time they spend together, the more Kassidy sees the man Wyatt truly is and the harder it is for Wyatt to stay away.

Catching the Player was a fun read with two very likeable characters. Though this is a part of a series, I did not once feel lost.

This fun and sexy romance hooked me immediately and kept me glued to the book from the first page to the last. If you enjoy well-crafted contemporary romance, you will love Catching the Player and it will put a smile on your face as it warms your heart.

I absolutely loved the instant attraction, chemistry and repartee between Atlanta Saviors star quarterback, Wyatt Hamilton and accountant Kassidy Thomas. They were so charming and relatable, I was completely mesmerized by their entertaining story and wanted the book to continue when I got to the end.

I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my unbiased review. I enjoyed the book so much, I purchased a copy of all the Hamilton Family novels.

Kassidy Thomas lost a bet that Wyatt Hamilton, star quarterback wouldn't heal in time to play and win a game. So she had to wear a Tinkerbell costume and deliver a sing-o-gram. Only Kassidy can't sing. When she discovers who's on the other side of the doors, she confronts Wyatt telling him she lost a bet because of him. Suddenly shy, she backs into an invaluable vase, knocking it over and breaking it. She offers to pay him back, but realizes she can't with money. Wyatt jokingly asks if she speaks Chinese...

Wyatt can't believe his luck. He opens the door to the worst singing he's ever heard, to see "Tinkerbell". When Kassidy doesn't go all "fan girl" on him, he's intrigued even more. When he jokingly asks if she can speak Chinese, he can't believe his luck. He was about to meet with possible Chinese sponsors, but no longer had an agent and couldn't speak Chinese. Kassidy quickly offers her services to pay her debt. What started out as fulfilling a lost bet turns into sooo much more.

Wyatt has one love, football. He doesn't think he has room in his life for more. He believes if he splits his focus between a girl and football, then he'll be less than in football. Yet, he can't stop thinking about Kassidy. Kassidy wants it all. She wants a man who loves her, a home, and kids. She knows Wyatt can't be that for her, but she'll take what he can give. Kassidy has promised herself to start living, so instead of overthinking things she just goes for it.

This is the third novel in The Hamilton Family series. I'm OCD about reading a series out of order, but I'm truly glad I did. I would've missed a wonderful, light, funny, swoon-worthy novel! It was laugh out loud funny. It made you want to reach through your reader and cover Wyatt's mouth so he'd stop his episode of word diarrhea because you KNEW he'd regret it later. At the same time, I rooted for him to win Kass' heart. I can't wait to go back and read the first two novels in the series and hope his brothers are as swoon-worthy! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Kassidy stopped living her life now she is taking it back. Her love of football always stayed the same. When she looses a bet with her brother and has to do a singing telegram her day is shot. Until she ends up at bachelor football player Wyatt Hamilton's house.
The minute she gets there he is fascinated with her and all she can think of is stats. Their friendship starts small but eventually the end up in a good place. How long can that last when the player is married to his game?

I started off Catching The Player loving it. The way Kassidy and Wyatt meet and hook up was perfect. But, by the time the middle of the book rolled around, I was bored and annoyed by the main characters and the plot. I do not like it when I become bored with a book. I don’t like it, even more, when I get annoyed by the main characters.

Like I said above, the book started off great. Kassidy is sent on a singing telegram to Wyatt’s house. After singing to him, she ends up accepting a date to help him with some Chinese sponsors. It is after that “date” that they hook up and agree to have a no strings attached relationship. That is where I started to become bored. I also started not liking the main characters around that time. It was because of how Wyatt acted. If I could reach through my Kindle and smack someone, he would have been number one on my list.

I did like Kassidy and connected to her on several levels connected with her. Her issues with being decisive struck a chord with me. I am terrible with making decisions and I have had a boyfriend break up with me because of that. But, he didn’t do it the way Kassidy’s ex did. That was pretty awful. I liked that she was willing to go with the flow with Wyatt. He wants sex and no relationship, sure, she’ll do it. But I started to get bored with her after a while. I wish that she had a bit more of a backbone. I mean, she did get one when she told Wyatt her news and he reacted in that god awful way. I wish that it happened sooner.

Wyatt, I wanted to smack but he was honest in all his dealings with Kassidy. I wish he was a little nicer about it. I mean, he went out of his way to tell people that they weren’t together….in front of her. Also, his reaction to her news was awful. But, I can see where he was coming from. I mean, if I were a rich, famous, single guy and a chick that I was banging sprang that news on me, I would react the same way. I did like the way that he apologized to Kassidy. I will never look at a cowboy outfit the same way again!!

I felt that Catching the Player ran out of steam mid-book. Everything else after that, I felt, dragged the story on. But, on the flip side, I did like how likable Kassidy was and how realistic Wyatt was. If they were a real-life couple, I would give them a 75% chance of staying together.

The end of the book was very heartfelt. I liked how Wyatt apologized to Kassidy and expressed his love for her. It was actually funny and like I said above, I will never look at a cowboy the same way again…lol. The epilogue was awesome!!

I enjoyed reading Catching the Player but thought it ran out of steam midbook. I did get bored with the book after reading for a while. I also got annoyed with the characters around the same time that I thought the book ran out of steam. But it was a very cute book that was a quick read.

Kassidy lost a bet w/ her brother, and now she is wearing a costume.
It couldn't get worst than this, right ?
Wrong!
Wyatt doesn't know what he is getting into, when he opened his door.
Getting a singing telegram is not that bad, but that voice could crumble mountains.
Once he takes a look at Kassidy, the voice is forgotten.
One favor turned into a friendship.
One friendship turned into an attraction.
Now, what is Wyatt to do?
He only wanted to focus on his game plan. He did not need a distraction.
When push comes to shove, will Wyatt step up to the plate?
Will he hit a home run?
You will need to read the book to find out if Wyatt got the girl.

This was a cute book. They met when she caterwauled a song to him in a lowcut costume. I could have done without some of the language, myself. I would have enjoyed the book more without it, but maybe, that is just me. I did enjoy Kassidy and Wyatt getting to know each other and their story.

Catching The Player by Diane Alberts is another fine read in the Hamilton Family Series. Kass and Wyatt are a good pairing in the story that, all-round, was an entertaining read. Catching The Player is the third book in the series.

Rating 4.5/5

From start to finish this is a highly entertaining romantic comedy, a great story to put a smile on your face and have you laughing out loud at some of the scenarios so vividly portrayed in this wonderful romance.

Kassidy works in her family’s florist business as the accountant. She’s just decided she needs to live more and put her past behind her. When she loses a bet with her brother her forfeit is she has to deliver a singing telegram dressed - well almost dressed - as a fairy. There are two problems with this - one is that she is tone deaf and can’t sing, the other is that the costume is very revealing! When the delivery turns out to be to her favourite NFL star, Wyatt Hamilton, she’s beyond embarrassed but that’s just the kick start her decision to take chances needs.

She’s a huge NFL fan, can recite statistics and has a special skill that means Wyatt can use her help with an important matter and so they go on their first date . . . . Wyatt only ever does first dates, never going on second ones as the NFL is the love of his life - or it was until he can’t get Kassidy out of his mind . . . . cue more dates . . .

They’re an unlikely pair and start out as friends before the real drama and dilemmas start. It is a great nerd-girl and hot sports star romance with characters it is easy to relate to and so many humorous interludes you’ll giggle your way through it. There are great secondary characters, too, from Chinese business men she has to put right, to her over protective brother. Wyatt’s grand gesture near the end is brilliant and well worth reading. I enjoyed escaping into this story and highly recommend it. Although it is part of a series, it works well as a standalone.

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Diane Alberts’ Catching the Player starts out really well with a bet leading to Kassidy Thomas delivering a singing telegram to famous quarterback Wyatt Hamilton, even though she can’t sing to save her life. It’s a fun beginning that just seems like it will spawn an equally humorous novel.

But Alberts fails to connect on what could have been some fun exchanges–Wyatt kisses Kassidy and says that he seals all of his deals with a kiss and she says…nothing even remotely funny even though it was set up perfectly?

There are lots of scenes that I imagine other readers would call cute. There are sexy scenes. What there aren’t a lot of are scenes where anything happens.

Actually that would have to be my perception of Catching the Player. There are many instances where the novel could have sparkled if better written and plotted, but it failed. I noted as I was reading that it felt like it should have ended at 68%, but then Alberts interjected a plot device that has been killing romance novels for a long time. If I had been reading a paperback rather than my tablet, the story would have been flying and colliding with a wall. (I won’t give spoilers; you can find them easily enough on Goodreads.)

Maybe the novel is actually summed up by the antiquated title.

Normally I’d have tagged this as a sports novel, but while Wyatt is supposed to be a famous quarterback, there aren’t any game scenes.

There’s a grand gesture at the end. I love grand gestures, but by the time this one came around, all I felt was apathy.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn’t sure about Catching The Player at first. The description appealed to me even though I have felt kind of burnt out on man whore football players, but Diane Alberts managed to make it fresh and funny and sexy.
And as soon as Kassidy started to sing—badly and off-key and without her glasses—for Wyatt I knew I would love this story. That was one of the top 10 meet-cutes around, especially her priceless reaction to the very man who (spoiler alert) was inadvertently responsible for her losing the bet in the first place!
Instead of making this one of those stories where the playboy footballer can’t commit, Diane Alberts made it so he couldn’t stay away. I loved that he was somehow just compelled to show up at Kassidy’s place because he had to see her, and I really loved that even Wyatt was baffled by his own behavior. Kassidy’s life was kind of in a holding pattern because of her past and Wyatt, well he was already married. To the game. This couple was incredible together, funny and sexy, fun and sweet.
The drama was low key but it was more than enough to keep me interested and invested in their story.
Catching The Player moved along at a fast pace but nothing felt like it was rushed. Every scene played out the way it should without any manufactured drama, which meant I enjoyed every single page as I gobbled it up. This is the kind of romance I like to read, fun and light and with a hint of drama. Plus I can’t remember the last time I read a book and smiled through the entire thing.
Now though, I feel compelled to go back and read the rest of the Hamilton Family series.

This book had great potential and tropes that I love,, but it felt like it was just skirting the surface of everything. Wyatt just frustrated me and I didn't love him. He was too contradictory. I liked Kassidy, but wanted to know more. I didn't realize this was the 3rd book in a series, but you didn't need to read the previous books to follow along.

Fun premise of the girl-next-door meets the NFL quarterback.

Kassidy meets Wyatt in the most awkward situation; delivering a singing telegram at his door. She is an awful singer and is embarrassed when she sees who the recipient is. She's a huge football fan and recognizes Wyatt immediately. Wyatt is charmed by Kassidy and before long (due to special circumstances which I don't want to give away!), soon Wyatt and Kassidy are on a date. Which turns into another...

Wyatt is all about his career and believes he cannot become involved in a relationship because his NFL career is his highest priority and he cannot divide his time and efforts between the two. A little bit of fun with Kassidy is fine though, right? Especially since he reminds Kassidy often that his career is his highest priority and he doesn't do relationships...so it's just casual, right?

This was a fun story but two things stood out as detractors to me. Wyatt's constant reminders to Kassidy about his "no relationship-no love" rule became a distraction from the plot line and honestly took away from the enjoyment of the story. Secondly, Kassidy's "fan-girl" attitude was a little too much for me, especially in light of Wyatt's constant admonishment regarding his no relationship mantra. It was hard to believe that Kassidy would put herself so far out there emotionally after what she'd experienced with her former boyfriend, although I get that the whole idea was the she wanted to "actually be living" more...but I'm not sure her actions were quite convincing.

If you can get beyond those two points, this is a fun story.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
