Oath of Honor is full of everything I want in a read from Eason - suspense, drama, twists, and don't get me started on the family relationships going on in this novel! No surprise that Eason penned another novel that has readers begging for more.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel and was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a great book with good pacing. I love the St. John family and the relationship between the two main characters.
Another winner by Lynette Eason! Action packed from beginning to end. Perfect start to a new series.
When it comes to suspense novels, Author Lynette Eason never lets me down. Her newest novel, Oath of Honor, is the first book in the Blue Justice series. It offers page turning suspense and twists and turns that leaves you guessing until the end. It's everything I love in a good mystery novel. I love suspense mingled with strong relationships and characters that you can connect with.
A murdered partner. A missing brother. Will Isabelle's silence protect those she loves . . . or delay justice?
Police officer Isabelle St. John loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. She knows they'll be there for her when things get tough. Like when her partner is murdered and she barely escapes with her own life.
Izzy is determined to discover exactly what happened, and her investigation sends her headfirst into a criminal organization, possible with cops on the payroll-including someone from her own family. With her dead partner's brother Ryan, a handsome homiscide detective, shadowing her every move, Izzy's head is spinning. How can she secure justice for her partner when doing so could mean sending someone she loves to prison? And how will she guard her hear when the man she's had a secret crush on for years won't leave her side?
I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I hope it continues to focus on some of the characters I've come to love in this book! If you love edge of your seat suspense this book comes highly recommended!
***Thanks to Revell Reads for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Oath Of Honor by Lynette Eason is a thrilling contemporary Christian suspense which I just could not put down. It is the first book in the Blue Justice series – and thankfully I have the subsequent books in the series sitting in a pile by my bed, just waiting to be read.
The plotline is intricate and well executed. I read with heart racing and teeth clenched as the tension rose. Lynette Eason certainly knows how to paint the scenes with her words as the action played out in my head.
There is a community and family atmosphere – the law enforcement agency functions as a family, protecting its own and serving the community. There is love and loyalty. When suspicion falls on one of its own, there is the belief that there must be more at stake than the surface appearance suggests.
We have truth and lies, plots and intrigue, gangs and goodies – Oath Of Honor is a fantastic start to a new series.
Loss hurts. When loss is built upon pain it is easy to question God’s presence. “God, I hope You’re here. Somewhere. Because I sure don’t see You.” Pain and loss may temporarily blind us to seeing God at work. It is now that we need to build on and rely on our firm foundations and knowledge that God is good and God is love. “God, I know You’re sovereign, You can bring good from evil, but sometimes it’s hard to remember that.” In our darkest of times, we need to cling to God and trust Him.
Lynette Eason is a new author to me. She has just been added to my ever growing list of favourite authors. I recommend picking up Oath Of Honor today. It’s fabulous. It would make a marvellous television or Netflix series – any producers please take note.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
New Lynette Eason´s series has a strong start!
Police Officer Isabelle St. John´s partner Kevin is shot down in front of her eyes when they are on the lookout. But for what reason? And why one of the dark figures in the building looks like her brother, Derek? Izzy joins forces with Kevin´s brother Ryan to find the truth. And there is lots of truth to be found out.
As for the romance department - this is Ms Eason´s strongest work yet by my opinion. Izzy and Ryan go wonderfully together!
As for the mystery - I could use a bit less complications and loopholes in the logic (for example the way to the final betrayal is a bit uneven for me). But otherwise - this is a fine book, full of action, drive and raw emotional moments and I have enjoyed it very much.
There is a reason that Lynette Eason's books are always on my MUST READ list. Oath of Honor lives up to every bit of the Romantic Suspense genre's hype. In this case it's more suspense with a side of romance..
Izzy St. John is a cop, in a family FULL of cops. Her mother is the chief of police. One brother is with the FBI, one is a detective, her twin is undercover, one sister is a K9 handler, and the other is a doctor. Overachievers, much?. She's been on the force a year longer than her partner, Kevin Marshall, but he's been one of her best friends all her life. When he talks her into going on a stakeout with him, she agrees, under duress, but when she sees him murdered in cold blood, she's ready to single-handedly take on the gangs that are fast taking over her city. When Kevin uses his labored breaths to make sure that she takes and hides his phone, she agrees, never thinking that those words could have been his last.
Detective Ryan Marshall already lost his older brother to the battlefields of Afghanistan. He's unprepared to hear Izzy's "Officer Down" cry on his police radio, and know in his gut that his baby brother is the officer that's down. As he arrives on scene, he finds Izzy covered in his brother's blood, and can't believe he's lost another sibling. He vows to catch and punish the man who did this, but the more he and Izzy investigate, the bigger the crime seems to become. As they pursue the murderer, Izzy becomes the pursued, narrowly escaping several attempts on her life. Can Ryan and Izzy find the clue that shows them what's really going on before it's too late to stop a gang war?
Ms. Eason is one of the best I've read when it comes to writing strong female lead characters. Isabelle St. John is no exception, and neither is her mother, or her sisters. They are all smart, capable, and can handle themselves when danger comes their way. They can also be soft when it's required, and they're not afraid to show their hearts to the men in their lives. Izzy takes longer than Ryan does to realize that they might be a perfect match. I also really liked the fact that it took me over 90 percent of the book before I figured out who was actually orchestrating the mayhem the characters lived through. That doesn't happen often, and is a sign of a very well-plotted story.
If you love suspense with plenty of action and just a smidgen of romance, Oath of Honor is your book. It's book 1, in the Blue Justice series, and since I started the series with book 2, I know you'll love that one just as much. I highly recommend!
This book was released yesterday and is book 1 to a brand new series called “Blue Justice”. If you haven’t read any books by this author you are definitely missing out!
Oh my gosh, this book was so so good!! Lots of action, suspense, drama and some romance. This story introduces Isabelle’s brothers and sister (6 total kids) which is a perfect way to start off this new series. I also like that it was clean fiction with some christian elements.
I felt this story was very well written and I was on the edge of my seat several times riveted to the story and all of the characters. I wasn’t sure how it was going to end and who the bad guys were since there were several unexpected twists. I can’t wait to read more books in this series!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Fantastic suspense and intriguing characters! 4 star worthy, edge of your seat plot line that pulls the reader to the center of the action. Ms. Eason is a long time favorite of this reader and I am looking forward to another fabulous novel to follow! Well done, Ms. Eason. Well done!

New series that has great characterization, tight writing, is fast pace and romantic. Looking forward to the next installments in this series.
Clean, Christian faith elements, romance
This was a fast paced mystery/suspense with a bit of romance mixed in. Izzy and Ryan's characters were well drawn, and their passion for law enforcement a big part of this story. Izzy's brother Derek's hidden investigation into a list, and Kevin's murder while attempting to find some criminals with the back story of family and all the other connections that intertwined in this story made for a suspenseful, intense read. Political race background setting, the mob connection, all a good fit for the suspense and mystery of the story and the murder. Definitely a fun, well paced read. If anything, just wish it hadn't ended quite so quickly! Hard to put down!
An exciting, suspenseful story that makes this book hard to put down.
Great characters, great family! I’m looking forward to more in this series.
A clean Christian suspense novel with no bad language or embarrassing scenes.
I received a copy of this bookstore from the publisher for review. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion about this book.
There should be a way to rate 6+/5 stars, y'all.
Oath of Honor stars Officer Isabelle St. John and Detective Ryan Marshall. Rounding out the cast are Izzy’s big law enforcement-grounded family, Ryan’s family, and a whole host of other cops. When Izzy’s partner, Ryan’s brother Kevin, is murdered and she’s almost killed, too, Ryan and Izzy find themselves in a criminal investigation with ties to gangs, organized crime, and dirty cops. And the truth could have awful ramifications for their own families.
What a fabulous read! Intense, suspenseful, full of close family relationships, and a story about longtime friends who one day look at each other a little differently. Izzy and Ryan’s romance is just the right blend of shared grief, dedication, friendship, and swoon-inducing moments.
Lynette Eason is back with another new series and "Oath of Honor" is an excellent start and introduction to the series and the characters. The Blue Justice series is focusing on the St. John family; this family who's members are all involved in public service jobs - Chief of Police, police officer, FBI, surgeon, lawyer, just to name a few. "Oath of Honor" focuses on Izzy St. John, police officer and one of the 6 St. John siblings. Izzy goes along with her partner on an undercover stake-out; however things do not turn out good at all as her partner is shot and Izzy believes at first that her eyes must be playing tricks on her as she thinks her twin brother was there on the scene and he shot the guy who was prepared to shoot at her. However, why would he be there and with the "bad guys." As Izzy is dealing with the emotional aftermath from this and trying to contact her brother, she finds herself being targeted and must fight for her life.
I absolutely loved this book, I read it so quickly as I could not stop reading and now I have to wait until July for book #2. At first, I had to keep turning back a few pages to remind myself of who was who as there were so many characters introduced, but as I read I kept them straight and just found myself wanting to know more about all of the St. John family members. The family is all busy with their work and they are all involved in stressful jobs, but still find that time to connect as a family and I love the interactions between the siblings. The storyline has so many twists and turns and I was kept guessing as to the whats and whys of the list that was found and who the masterminds were behind the attacks. Lynette has done a great job at introducing the family and sharing Izzy's story and now I am eager to read more about the rest of the family!
Another winner by Lynette Eason...This is the first book in her latest series....Classic romance/suspense. Pick up your copy NOW!!!
This is book 1 in the Blue Justice series. The main character in the book, Izzy, has three brothers and two sisters, all of them work in some form of public service with jobs that range from FBI to homicide detective and there is even a surgeon in the family. Their mom is the chief of police and dad is a defense attorney. With so many characters to get involved in interesting cases, this series is sure to be a winner for those who like mysteries and lots of action.
In the first few chapters many of the characters come flying off the pages. I enjoyed getting to know them and seeing how close this family is. Almost from the beginning, you are tossed into the action with bad guys and a murdered police officer who also happens to be Izzy’s partner and childhood friend. Things really become tense when the possibility of bad cops become evident, and one of izzy’s brothers turns up where he shouldn’t be.
I recommend that you get in on the ground floor with this series and pick up the first book.
Title: Oath of Honor
Author: Lynette Eason
Series: Blue Justice Book 1
Chapters: 36 plus epilogue
Pages: 359
Genre: Christian Suspense/ Christian Romance
Rating: 5 stars
In Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason the first book in the Blue Justice the entire novel literally lasts a total of six days. Though the novel moves at a fast pace you don't lose anything from the story. Isabelle St. John comes from a law enforcement family, with all of her brothers in law enforcement and one sister. With her mom being the chief of police for their town. Oath of Honor takes places in a fictionalize version of Columbia South Carolina. The novel gave me a bit of a Blue Bloods feel but with the Christian faith added in.
But then Isabelle's world comes crashing down around her, her partner is murdered and she barely makes it out, she's saved by an unlikely source. She then discovers a member of her own family may be responsible. She then decides to try to solve Kevin's murder on her own, but Detective Ryan Marshall Kevin's older brother and the man she's had a crush on for years will not let her work the case alone. Isabelle's trying hard to protect her heart from getting broken. But someone else is also trying very hard to protect Isabelle's heart as well as his. Ryan also wants to protect Isabelle's life no matter the cost.
I've read many books by Lynette's books before but Oath of Honor is my favorite book of hers so far. I loved Isabelle's faith and determination and how much she loved her family. Ryan's nature to protect those he loves above all else. My favorite character though wasn't human instead it was Isabelle's dog Mozart a miniature Eskimo Spitz. Mainly because I had one as a children and they are lovable and loyal dogs. Another thing that I liked about Oath of Honor is that while there was some romance in the story it wasn't the whole story. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Chloe's story. As well as reading about the rest of Isabelle's siblings in their own stories especially Isabelle's twin.

Another start to another outstanding series by favorite author Lynette Eason! I LOVE the theme of family in this series! Reminded me of Blue Bloods and the O'Malleys. So excited for more!
If you like the television show Blue Bloods, then you will absolutely love this book. It has that family ring to it - but I won't say how! The amount of action and suspense this author spreads all throughout this book is great! This book is one of those books that make you curl up in your comfy reading chair and lose yourself in it. Just when you think you know what will happen next, another twist in the story grabs you. Lynette Eason is a master storyteller and fantastic at getting you pulled deep into the story lines. And when you get to the point of figuring out who the "bad guy" is, you may be very surprised! I definitely recommend this book.
I received a digital copy of this book through this site. I have shared my honest opinion on this book.

This is my first experience reading a Lynette Eason book, and I was quickly hooked! I loved the fast paced plot and realistic characters that brought this story to life. Eason knows how to deliver a story that draws the reader in for a ride of clean entertainment, twists and turns, and a bit of romance on the side.
