A great beginning to a new series. It reminds me of two of my favorite YA series Archaic and Tainted Elements. Riley is a strong but needy character that's discovering what she's capable of and who she really is. I don't know how I feel about any of the other characters yet, and I'm eagerly waiting to see what the real plot will be. I'm glad I'm reading this now and it's only a few days until the release of the second book.
This book defiantly deserves five stars it has all the makings of my kind of favorite book! 1- great cover 2- easy smooth, and quick read. 3- I love when there are a group of teens in a book and not everything is just focused on one character yes shes the main character but the author lets it be known that all of them are a team. 4- a little romance never hurt anyone! 5- I would love to see this book in theaters I loved the action and could picture everything I was reading. 6- Lastly and my biggest reason I cant wait to read the next book!!!!!
Wow, this book was surprising in all the right ways. It's an engaging and unique story with characters that I cared about and that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible. I loved Riley and felt invested in her story - so much so that I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. Be assured, this novel is a complete story that is a stand alone novel, however, I loved the premise so much that I'm curious what the characters will experience next.
Fans of the genre will love this book. As a grandma, I loved this book, but would think it's also appropriate for older YA and NA readers. My reason for saying older YA is because there is some violence in the book, but it pales compared to the amount in many YA books. Additionally, this might be the first book I've read in years without a single swear word in it...very refreshing.
I can't wait to see what the author writes next - she is definitely an author to watch and I look forward to her future books.
One complaint, I read this book way to fast. I did not think that I would enjoy this book so much that I finished it in less than 2 hours. Once I started reading I could not stop. Riley thinks that she is going to a exclusive school only to find out she is some government secret; does she believe every thing that she is told, does she believe in every one that she meets? When Riley meets Finn she realizes not everything is as it seems there are so many secrets. Will Riley and Finn realize that can trust each other or will Riley be betrayed? Thank you NetGalley and Leigh Walker for allowing me to read and write a honest review of this book.
